:::Cycling Cheetahs:::Sunday!

Wendy – you had me smiling when I saw your cheer squad! Thanks so much!!! Glad you had fun!! Happy birthday to DH! Sounds like a great time!!! Yes, Webber does kick butt!! I love TGU’s – they work me like nothing else!

Dallas – I got your email in time. Your loved ones rode with me. Oh, Big Sur, yeah, and the photos don’t do it justice. It’s an incredible spot! We’ll be there next year! Come on down! :p

Cathy – YEAH on the 13 miles!! Way to go!!! The positive vibes and energy helped! I’m feeling pretty darned good! I’ve read some of Janet Evanovich’s books. I enjoy them. Rant sounds intense!

Gloria – Thanks! I sooo enjoyed the ride!! Having friends who work out is great, isn’t it?

Carole – Sorry you still had some smoke! Good job with the 6 miles while feeling beat!

Well, the ride went very well. I really enjoyed it. My time was 3 hours and 45 minutes, which is a little slow, but that’s okay – for not really having ridden more than 30 miles, I’m happy. I’m feeling good now, very good, actually. I’m going to cheat a little and copy most of the letter I sent out, so forgive me for being redundant. I just don’t want to retype it all :p.

Yes, Lance rode along with us. No, I did not see him on the ride (I’ll bet very few people did – no one can keep up with him!!), but to know I was riding in the same event as Lance Armstrong is pretty powerful. I also got to ride with a cancer survivor. My company’s VP of Support’s sister-in-law is a breast cancer survivor and has been for a year. I loved getting to know her as well. I was also approached many times because of the number of people I was riding for.

The ride was fun. We started off in downtown San Jose. The streets were closed so we had them to ourselves. What a powerful sight as thousands of cyclists filled the streets of downtown! San Jose is in the middle of the Silicon Valley, so it’s fairly flat in the middle, but we have mountains on both sides, and we rode both sides. We started by heading to the west through Saratoga and Los Gatos. We hit some minor hills, then we had a killer climb heading in Campbell. The hill was deceptive – it did not look as if it should be as hard as it was! I hate those kinds of hills! But, at least it was behind us and we had a fun, curvy downhill back into the valley.

We rode to the far reaches of San Jose, and then finally started heading East. Around mile 30 we started the big climb up into Silver Creek Country Club. The East side of San Jose has no trees, so the climb was brutal as the breeze had died, but fortunately, just as many of the riders decided to walk, we turned a corner, the hill lessened and a breeze came up. I have never appreciated a breeze more! Once over the hill we had a fun downhill (I got up to 40 mph) then had a shape right turn and another uphill, although not nearly as bad as the first. Then it was down hill from there, and what a relief that was! From there it was smooth sailing to the finish line! I’m feeling good and ready to go for another ride, but not today. :p

Thanks again Cheetahs! I’m honored to know y’all!

Good evening ladies!

Gonna just jump right in with today's posts...

Shelly - Nice to hear you had a really nice time yesterday....sounds like my kind of day! You deserve a bit of downtime with DH. LMAO about your comments regarding structure, routine and insanity...kind of right there with ya. Good for you for taking the leap and heading east with DH. I'm not insane, *pouts*, just incredibly happy to workout again }( :p :7! But, you've got to admit that HIS/LIS doesn't even compare to, say, CF Mix and Max! I hope you had a great run this morning!

Carole - Okay, I MUST go back and read about this killer turkey . You gals have me rollin' here! Sorry the run wasn't quite as smoke free as you would have liked, but I'm sure the scenery was quite beautiful. It's no doubt that breathing all of that smoky air for the past month probably has something to do with it. Uh, wowzas  with YardworkMax...I'd say you definitely made up and then some!

Christine - WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!! Glad you had a great time...can't wait to hear the details! I'm sure that beer tasted mighty fine :p. LMAO that you knew "exactly" what I go through with the bugs x(. We used to call em B52s, too, but bombers was just easier to say. It really is the worst when the horses hear em coming and completely LOSE it. Makes for some very interesting rides . I shudder whenever I hear them x(.

Wendy - Wow, I want to celebrate birthdays with YOU, LOL :p. Ooooh, you know you got in there good when you're feeling DOMS that night }(. You are really hitting those bells something fierce! Hope you and DH had a good time at MIL's.

Dallas - Sooooooo great to hear from you. I've been thinking of you and your family lately...sounds stalkerish, but you know what I mean. Sorry about the chafing...I haven't had too much experience (luckily) with that. Yeah, sometimes you gotta chalk up those "off" workout days and just be happy that you did "something", right?

Cathy - Congrats on the 13 miles today!!!! Awesome! It did get quite hot today and I give you a *TON* of credit for pushing through. Heehee, "office"...you crack me up. I absolutely *LOVED* what you wrote to Wendy yesterday. You have such a positive way of looking at life, bless you. Glad you're "officially" back online.

Gloria - Yeah, pinot grigio, grapefuit juice, lime juice and fresh blackberry syrup...what's not to like, right? Awww, poor Ellie :(...she sounds like such a sweetheart. It sounds like you needed to recharge today after a rather busy and stressful week with your car. You've done more than enough this week and I'm sure you'll be ready to attack the new week tomorrow.

Waving "HI!" to all of our MIA Cheetahs...Jackie, Posh, Judy and Lorie (although I'm sure she's faaaaar too busy to give us the time of day :p)!!!

Gonna go get showered and then it's off to bed with me. Nope, I'm not kidding on that one, either. I actually fell asleep at the barn for about 45 minutes today . I hope to get a nice long (8-10 miler) run in tomorrow morning, then house cleaning, then lunch with DSO, then hair appt and then we'll see what kind of time (and how much energy I still have) after that LOL! Good night ladies!

Christine - You jumped in there while I was typing my novel :p. WOW, the ride sounded wonderful... and TOUGH!!! Great job conquering those hills! Glad you were able to meet up with Dallas' loved ones and was able to ride with a survivor...must have been a very pwerful event. Now, go rest up and enjoy your post-ride high!

Christine :: Loved reading your race report...Sounds like those climbs were t.o.u.g.h...WTG!!! I had a CL in your honor as well. :) :) :) I am still early into Rant, and it's a challenge to sort out what's what at the moment. The story is told from the perspective of multiple characters, and it's hard to figure out if *any* of them are reliable. Same author who wrote Fight Club. Very *different*, shall we say. :)

Carole :: have you gotten any photos of the bomber? Bet 90 min. of yardwork worked ya good! I am still laughing at yesterday's line. It's a Carole classic! :7 :7 :7

Gloria :: I enjoyed a nap late this afternoon myself after being outside much of the day. Really wanted to stretch out the legs. What's your show at 10 pm? Hope you make it! YAY on being able to get your wheels back tomorrow.

Wendi :: Whoo, your descriptions of your on-the-go days tire me out just reading about them! I so admire your energy...The heat & sun did kick in at the end of my run, but ya know, later in the day, I thought the humidity was not as bad as expected based upon the forecast...thank you re: yesterday's comments...I'd hoped it did not come off as being preachy or whatever, just wanted to share what has worked for me in keeping perspective & staying loose and happy. :)

Curiously, the outside of my right knee is feeling a little stiff post-nap when I get up and walk around--a different pain for a change. :) There's always *something* with us runners. *lol*

Have a great night! :) :) :)
