Curves -Any input?

Hi everybody,
I saw that my local shopping center now has a Curves for Women and I wondered if anyone has done this? From what I understand, it's a 30 minute workout doing circuits on different machines. I'm interested just for the fact that there are days when you don't want to work out in your living room, AGAIN.. So I got an appointment for tomorrow to get the overview, but was wondering if anyone has done this?

I don't expect Cathe-like motivation, but I'm always interested in checking out new stuff. Does anybody have some input to let me know if this is going to be a waste of time?

Thanks,

I haven't done Curves myself, but my Mom, who is 61 and keeps fit, tried it for a few months. She took a break from her regular gym, where she usually works out 3 times a week, doing apx. 30 minutes cardio and some light weight work. In her opinion, it was a step backward for her. She gave it up and went back to her regular routine at the gym. She does, however, have a few friends in her age range who were formerly not exercising who are having great success at Curves. I think its probably a sensible beginners exercise regimen. If you're used to Cathe, I think Curves may not be for you. Hope this helps.

For you, Tricia, it'd be a waste of time and money. Curves for Women targets the deconditioned population, and offers a very diminimus circuit-style workout that, IMHO, is ineffective for anyone who isn't a complete beginner to exercise in general.

Further, Curves does not require its staff to be certified in exercise at all, either in group fitness, personal / strength training, or anything, nor does it have shower facilities (ick, btw). I've also seen some postings on other forums from Curves employees that are frightening in their ignorance of exercise physiology.

Save your money / time and keep looking.

Thank You Both!

Needless to say, I called and cancelled my appointment! Thanks so much Lynda and Annette for saving me the trip, let alone the money. I had a gym membership for several years and hardly ever used it because I like Classes, not equipment. But when you are used to Cathe, not many classes can even come close. I got so tired of going to "Advanced" Classes and being disappointed.
Thank you both again!!```
