CTX Series Rotation for Fat Loss

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
I need some feedback. I have a pink pair of petite size 12 jeans that I bought on sale at the end of last summer and really want to fit into for the first time next month when I go to visit my family. :) I am planning to start a CTX Series rotation Sunday morning and will have 4 weeks to drop a size. My legs need to be leaner before these jeans will fit. My bubble butt needs to be a lot smaller too! ;) Leaner Legs and Cathe’s kickboxing workouts are very effective for me, so I am hoping that this will work. Do you think it would be overkill to do the entire series every week plus Leaner Legs a second time? This is what I am considering:

Sunday - 10*10*10 (triceps)
Monday - Kickbox (biceps)
Tuesday - Leaner Legs + cardio gliding (homemade circuit)
Wednesday - Step and Intervals (chest)
Thursday - Power Circuit (back)
Friday - rest
Saturday - Leaner Legs + All Step (shoulders)

Do you think it would be okay to do Leaner Legs a second time each week? If so, should I do Leaner Legs first or All Step first? Thanks for your help!

Blessings,
Heather B.

Heather, I think your rotation looks good and yes, you should lost body fat with this. Try and go moderate to heavy with the weights you use.

Thank You!!!

Debbie:

Thank you for the response. I can tell by looking at your pictures that you know what you are talking about, so I really appreciate the affirmation. I am still learning to put together rotations. Since Cathe designed this series to be used as a rotation, it will likely be more effective than what I have been pulling together myself. This will be my first experiment with training one body part a day. I am looking forward to seeing how my body responds to this new and different approach. Thanks again for the affirmation, and I will try to lift heavier as you suggested. :)

By the way, I drink a gallon of spring water a day. I imagine that you and Cathe would too if you moved to Texas where it is hot all year. ;-) My weight loss and workouts suffer when I drink less. Even when I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, my body still craves pure water. :)

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Thank You!!!

Your welcome, Heather. I am drinking about 72 oz. instead of 128 oz. (1 gallon) and its working better for me. I think when it gets hotter out I'll be back to drinking a gallon. I try to listen to my body but sometimes it doesn't tell me its thirsty.

Do you have any other weight training workouts from Cathe other than CTX? If so, incorporate those in once in a while. I'm not sure how long you will be doing the CTX rotation you made up but I would change it after three or four weeks. Your body will get use to it and the progress will stop.

RE: Thank You!!!

I did CTX as a rotation for about 6 months and lost weight with it. You might want to buy another legs workout to add, there are others that Cathe makes that are fun and different than LL. I would say that Body Blast's Legs & Glutes is the most different -- so it would be good to do both of them to mix it up. L&G doesn't use the barbell much but still really fries the legs.

Changing Rotations

Debbie:

I am relatively new to Cathe, but I already have a nice collection of her workouts thanks to the VHS sale. Now I am in the process of upgrading to DVDs for the wonderful premixes. In the way of Cathe’s weight training workouts, I have Pure Strength Strong Legs and Abs, Power Hour, the Slow and Heavy Series, the Pyramids, Muscle Endurance, Legs and Glutes, Supersets, and Push Pull. I have a variety of cardio and circuit training workouts too. Cardio Kicks, Rhythmic Step, IMAX2, and Kick, Punch, & Crunch are my favorite cardio workouts. Circuit Max, the Gauntlet, Boot Camp, and Step, Jump, & Pump are my favorite circuit training workouts. I am planning to buy the Hardcore Series as a bundle later this year.

Leaner Legs is my favorite lower body workout of all time (by Cathe or anyone else). Pyramid Lower Body is a close second. Pyramid Upper Body always delivers excellent results in just a few weeks. I am still at least 50 pounds overweight, but I am able to do a few pushups on my toes for the first time in my life thanks to that one. The Slow and Heavy Series is very effective, but it adds muscle faster than my body can shed the fat. This will be a favorite when I get closer to my goal weight and change my focus to adding muscle. At this point in my journey, I do not want to increase the size of anything. ;-)

Cathe’s circuit training workouts give me great results, but it is time for a change. I am looking forward to the CTX Series. It is good to know that changing my rotation every 3-4 weeks is beneficial. I need a fresh rotation every few weeks to really enjoy my workouts and stay motivated. I am planning to do all the CTX workouts next week for the first time just to get familiar with the new choreography and weight work. Then I will hit it hard for 3 weeks, take a break for a trip in June, evaluate my progress, and start a new rotation when I return.

I am still overweight as I mentioned above, which also contributes to my need for more water. That and the Texas heat!

Meredith, I will watch Legs and Glutes again this weekend. Timesaver 5 is a possibility too. I usually do Legs and Glutes together with Supersets. It feels like a more complete workout that way. Leaner Legs is still my favorite. :) It is very effective too. Thanks for the suggestion.

Blessings,
Heather B.

RE: Changing Rotations

Heather, you have a good collection there. Wait until you do L&G, you will LOVE it! It is my favorite leg workout by Cathe and then Gym Style Legs.

With all these workouts, you could mix it up a bit. I pm'd you so check your inbox.

RE: Changing Rotations

I just finished doing the CTX series and I lost weight and inches and reduced my body fat percentage. I ate very clean, drank lots of water (but not a gallon ;)) and kept my calories between 1400-1700.

I agree with Debbie too, that you should switch things up after 3 or 4 weeks. I've done CTX for 3 weeks now and can tell my body has just now reached it's limit with it. So this Monday I'm starting Cathe's July 2003 Fat Loss & Definition rotation.

Good Luck!

Heidi :)
