CTX for a comeback???

Hello:

Many of you know I had a very tough year. Major life threatening medical issues with my now 17 year old son. Thank God he has stabilized and is now doing well in school and enjoying being the stat guy for the football team and doing all the cardio drills. In addition my mother hit bottom and is now in a secure faciity. Oh and my daughter went off to college 6 hrs away, fortunately as a sophmore she is doing very well :)

So.... I've tried many comebacks.. and never got into it. A lot was I couldn't focus on it (as you can imagine) and working out was not where my energy was going.

Yesterday my son said to me "Mom, remember when you use to work out every day and you were more happy" "Can't you do it". So ok.... I have the motivation. Funny how what starts you out isn't what keeps you but this was the kick I need.

What are you thoughts on using CTX to come back? I've tried PP/SS and Imax(es), KPC but just haven't continued.

Any ideas on a comeback - motivation?, series to follow?

I had worked out regular from 89-2004. So once I hit a 4-6 weeks I'll be all set.

THANKS for your response.

First, I am sorry for your troubles this year, but it sounds like things are finally stabilizing for you. That's great. I have taken a couple of extended breaks in the last year - an injury followed by no motivation, and one bout of overtraining. What worked for me was not a particular series but picking up the workouts that I ENJOY doing, that are fun, and that I am not dreading. Don't worry about being on a rotation or meeting fitness goals... strive for working out 3x/week using premixes if the full workout seems like too much in the beginning, then gradually bring yourself back up.

CTX will probably be a good choice since it has a lot of variety and the workouts are shorter, but anything you enjoy doing will do!

Take care & good luck,
Marie

You have been through a lot and I am glad that things are looking up for you!

I think that CTX is a GREAT idea for you to get yourself back into working out! With CTX, you hit every body part and also get your ardio in. After you first few weeks, consider doubling up the body parts each day (pair chest w/back, biceps with tricpes, etc., like she suggests in the preview) so that you hit every body part twice per week. Then you will be ready to move on! I have used this method to come back from illness, injury, training for an event (where I could not do my Csthe workouts regularly), etc. and it works out very well! Plus it helps that the workouts are just a tiny but shorter for the motivation factor!

Good luck and keep us posted!

no comments on CTX as i don't have it but i wanted to send you (((((((((((((((cyber hugs)))))))))))))) sorry you have had such a tough time but i hope you can get on track for you and your family. you deserved to be full of energy and strong enough to kick the butt of anythign that comes your way.

Hi Robin.

I'm glad to hear that you and your family are doing better these days!

I'd suggest even going easier and doing the BS/BF dvd if you have it or the new Low Impact Step one....then I think moving on to CTX after a couple of weeks after that would be a good idea...

Just my 2 cents!:)

The first set of Cathe tapes I got were the CTX ones...I'd been doing the FitTV versions for months, though...Maybe start small like doing the step on the floor and not off the bench for a week or so to get back in the swing of things???

Welcome back!

CTX cardio is very high impact, and mostly step. I would be concerned about overuse injuries using it to get back into the swing of things.

Thanks everyone!

I actually have been doing Imax, KPC, Billy Banks advanced... maybe 4 or 5 times a month.. so I think the SHORTER is going to be great!

I did Kickbox last night - went LOW on bicep weights and felt pretty good. I'm going to go to the HS football game in a few mins.. but will aim for 10-10-10 in the am!

Thanks for you good wishes ! I especially liked the I can kick anyone's butt after this year! great way to think of it :)
