CTX, Body Blast or Intensity?

I wish I had more $ and could just buy all the videos right now...but I can't. I'm gearing up for a 7 week rotation that will lead into my honeymoon, so I want to really get the maximum results. I'm leaning toward CTX based on some suggestions yesterday, but just wanted to get one last feedback from you experts! I'd like to keep the total under $150 and I already have the timesaver DVD and taped workouts from FitTV. The one worry I have is that CTX is too much like timesaver. With just starting the collection, I want to make sure I've got the variety I need to do a good rotation. I could get CTX and another DVD from one of the other series or just BB or just Intensity. I'm thinking CTX and possiby pre-ordering LowMax and Imax3....or would you suggest getting one of the "older" DVD's? This Cathe thing is addictive because right away I just want them all! I did have a wicked thought about buying CTX and one of the other series, but that would be over $200, and I'm not sure I should do that with the honeymoon coming up and all...

Please let me know what you think :)

Amy,

If you already have Timesaver, I would go for the Intensity Series.

Why? Well, because CTX is similar to Timesaver and in my opinion the Body Blast series is light on the weight training than the Intensity Series. If you are going somewhere warm on your honeymoon, the Pyramids will give you some definition in both your upper and lower body for your bathing suit! IMax 2 really blasts the fat, as does Cardio and Weights. Boot Camp is a nice overall total body blast. Muscle Endurance also helps with muscle toning and definition.

The IS will give you a well-rounded program. I would do the Pyramids once a week each, and either Muscle Endurance, Cardio and Weights, or Boot Camp one a week (so you hit each muscle group 2x per week). I would also do IMax2 once a week and two of your other cardios each week (like from the Timesavers or taped from FIT TV). That gives you one rest day each week. You mentioned LowMax and IMax3. If you buy the IS, I would hold off on IMax3 because you will already have IMax2. I find it hard to do any of the IMaxes more than once per week.

I am not one to give advice on diet (as I sit here eating rice and beans smothered with melted gouda!), but try to eat clean and drink plenty of water.

I second Amy's advice - go with the Intensity Series. If you have Timesaver, you basically already have Step Blast and SJP - just broken up. And you already have shorter versions of Legs & Glutes and KPC.

CTX is great, and a more intense rotation than Timesaver. But if you get the Intensity Series, you have better options for toning with weights. The premixes are fantastic on this series also, you have so many options with the DVDs.

Hi Amy, I saw this post on the DVD section and replied to that one, too. I don't have Timesaver, so when I got CTX, I was able to add twists to my rotations. Timesaver is culled from the Intensity workouts, but it's not like each of the Intensity workouts per se. Also, from the description of Timesaver, it is closer to Bootcamp's style than CTX.

Bootcamp is 7 cycles of cardio, upper body, lower body and core work, while CTX gives you approximately 30 minutes of cardio and one body part a day. The collection also includes LL, plus the UB-split, plus a compilation of all the ab workouts in CTX.

If you want honest-to-goodness toning, I believe Intensity will give that to you. You can make a rotation using the Intensity workouts, Timesaver and the other workouts you've taped. Also, as you may have heard a lot on this forum, diet is critical, especially when you have only a certain amount of time to accomplish your goal. Hope this helps.

I am with the above posters: I think the Intensity Series is the best body of work Cathe has put out. I hope Hardcore is as well rounded as this one!

Good Luck,
Rhonda

Definately the IS series! it has the best music(ctx music sucks IMHO) and tons of premixes. most challenging too. Absolutely IS series!!!

Intensity is my favorite, but the cardio would have been much easier to learn if I'd had CTX first. I only have StepBlast/SJP and KPC/L&G from Body Blast, but I LOVE KPC and especially the cardio blast from StepBlast--sometimes I do just the blast 2 times through for extra cardio. CTX is very versatile, and I'm enjoying using it for add-ons.

If it's a matter of working up, I'd go for CTX, Body Blast and then Intensity. But if intensity isn't an issue, and you're short on $$$, I'd go for the Intensity Series. You get some of everything, and Cathe is extra-fabulous in these--her comments are extra funny and inspiring.

Hope this helps.

Amy,
I don't know if you have made your decision yet, but you might also consider the BodyMax workout. This is a fabulous 90-minute video (step, step circuit for legs, and upper body) that really gets it done. It can also be broken up if you run out of time. I did this a lot when I was getting ready for my wedding.

Hi!

Ditto the Intensity series.

It is the first series of Cathe's that I have done, and I have never done any series that I love more.

I have many other tapes, including some from Cathe, but the ones I reach for over and over are the Intensity series. Love it!

May you have a wonderful honeymoon, and this be the beginning of a wonderful life.:)
