Crazy Strong and Loving It for Nov 18, 2009

Morning,

I am done with CCV7 on the TC;) Traveled 4.15 miles and burned 850 cal. I pushed myself today, I was thinking about Thanksgiving and all those extra cal.:p Need to work a little harder until next week. I also did 3 sets of leg presses , leg curls and leg extensions ) in the gym. Getting ready to work my abs, shower talke the dogs for a walk. Tonight I will do my core/back workout.

And no I will not be cooking for Thanksgiving! In the morning, I will go to the gym. In the afternoon I will go with DH to the Mess hall on base

Have a fantastic day. Work hard!

Well last week I couldn't seem to sleep in and was up working out, this week I can't seem to wake up! My legs aren't terribly sore (yet). If they don't seize up from sitting all day, I think I may do Cardio Fusion tonight. We'll see. I may just take today as a rest day.

Nora - I really like doing either HIIT or tempo work on the treadmill b/c it breaks up the time. I only have to focus on a minute or a few minutes rather than thinking, "Crapy, got freaking 25 minutes left to go, never gonna make it!!!" HIIT work really is pretty tough. Oh, and I only did abs from LIC not the whole thing. My legs were sort of like jello!

Belinda - you go girl with those CCV workouts!!!

Roxie - maybe increase your weights ever so slightly too when you repeat. Good job!

Debbie - looking forward to your P90X reports!

Chris - how's the weather there? Getting in any runs? Our temps went from 63 in the am on Mon to 43 by the pm and it's staying below 50. Brrr. LOL

Hey Girls!

About to go do DISC 20, Legs. I *pray* this doesn't aggravate my calf. I may have to modify if I feel it pull. It actually feels better this morning.

Belinda
: Holy calorie burn! That's amazing you did all that!!! Leg presses . Oh I know, I keep thinking of having to go to my yearly GYN appt next week and having to step on the dang scale. I hate their scale! I know I'm up probably at least 5 lbs from last year :(

Roxie
: Good workout last night! You're doing great with this rotation!

Debbie: I previewed that P90X Plyo workout when DH first got it. It looks intense! But some moves look really fun too. I LIKE Tony and his goofiness. I know many don't.

Heather: It seems my DOMS have not let up in Meso 2 this month. Meso 1 wasn't as bad. I swear, my legs were STILL tight on Monday from my LAST week's WEDNESDAY workout! Doesn't seem possible, but they were. CF is a good long sweaty cardio. If not today, then tomorrow, right?.... Oh don't even ask about the weather and running. I want to cry! It's GORGEOUS here this week (for November). Sunny, high 50's. perfect running weather! But I *have* to rest my calf. I'm so afraid of pulling it bad and being out of commision for way longer. But I get so jealous of all the college "kids" that run by my house or in the park when I drive by. No fair!!!!

Nora
: KM *is* a GREAT workout! The leg work at the end is crazy!! I always get such burns going on holding my leg up for so long!... Oh Turbo Kick is put out by Chalene (who does Turbo Jam from Beachbody). She actually makes workouts for instructors in gyms. But she also made some "fan" Turbo Kick workouts. They are VERY similiar to Turbo Jams. She sells them from her own company, Powder Blue. I got this new DVD a few weeks ago when she had them on sale. Kind of expensive, even with the discount. It came to roughly $30, with S&H, and it has 2 , one-hour Turbo Kick workouts on it. She calls them "rounds" . I got Rounds 30 and 31. (on 1 dvd) . I really do love it, love the music, and the style, it's fun! She does talk to instructors on it, though, giving them pointers on how to teach the class. It's not distracting to me.

*Hey* to Wendy! ... Maybe you'll like the "wave technique", but to me, it's just a PIA to keep changing the weights by 1 or 2 lbs. But on the other hand, i got MAJOR DOMS from that workout this week!!!

Okay, better get my buttocks moving!!

Today was Shoulders and Arms and I had a great workout. I liked this one. Did 5 groups of trisets. While doing the triset, hardly no rest between exercises or trisets. 30 second rest between each triset group.

Group 1
Alternating Shoulder Press - 15's/11 reps
In & Out Bicep Curls - 20's/16 reps
Double Arm Kickbacks - 10's/14 reps
Alternating Shoulder Press - 15's/11 reps
In & Out Bicep Curls - 15's/18 reps
Double Arm Kickbacks - 10's/15 reps
***In & Out Bicep Curls were doing a regular dumbbell curl and then doing it out to the side.

30 second rest

Group 2
Deep Swimmer's Press - 12's/16 reps
Full Supination Concentration Curls - 20s/12 reps
Bench Dips - 20 reps
Deep Swimmer's Press - 12's/16 reps
Full Supination Concentration Curls - 20s/11 reps
Bench Dips - 25 reps
***Weird exercise names. Deep Swimmer's Press is doing a bicep curl and then doing an overhead press. Full Supinated Concentration Curls were hammer curls with a twist.

30 second rest

Group 3
Upright Rows - 20's/14 reps
Static Arm Curls - 15's/4 sets, then 8 hammer curls
Flip-Grip Twist Tricep Kickbacks - 8's/16 reps
Upright Rows - 20's/14 reps
Static Arm Curls - 15's/4 sets
Flip-Grip Twist Tricep Kickbacks - 8's/16 reps
***Static Arm Curls were cool. You hold right arm in a static hold, then do 4 dumbbell curls with the left arm, then you leave the left arm in a static hold and do 4 reps with right arm, you do this 4 times. With the first set the time was 1 minute so then we did hammer curls to finish the time. Second set was only 30 seconds. Flip-Grip Twist Tricep Kickbacks were cool too, you hold weights with palms down, do a kickback, then turn the hands palms up and do a kickback. Keep doing those. Really got a good burn.

30 second rest

Group 4
Two-Angle Shoulder Flyes - 8's/16 reps
Crouching Cohen Curls - 12's/16 reps
Lying Tricep Extensions - 15's/16 reps
Two-Angle Shoulder Flyes - 8's/20 reps
Crouching Cohen Curls - 12's/12-4 reps
Lying Tricep Extensions - 15's/16 reps
***Two-Angle Shoulder Flyes are seated, you do a lateral raise and then bend down and do a reverse flye. Keep alternating. I didn't like Crouching Curls, they were too hard on my back, I may do incline curls next time. You crouch down, put your elbows between your knees and do curls.

30 second rest

Group 5 (Bonus Round)
In & Out Straight-Arm Shoulder Flyes - 8's/16 reps
Congdon Curls - 15's/14 reps
Side Tri-Raises - 12 each side
In & Out Straight-Arm Shoulder Flyes - 8's/16 reps
Congdon Curls - 15's/15 reps
Side Tri-Raises - 20 each side
***In & Out Shoulder Flyes were a Front Raise and a Lateral Raise alternating. Congdon Curls are Reverse-UP, Curl Downs. Side Tri-Raises are where you lay on your side, your bottom arm wraps around your top shoulder and you press with the other arm. I need to sub this exercise because it hurts my right shoulder too much. I can do this forever with my left arm.

I need to get Ab Ripper X in today. I'm hoping to have time when I go home to do it.

Be back for personals...

Roxie - I've always loved C&W abs, one of Cathe's best ab workouts. How's things at home? I hope better.

Nora - Plyometrics is from the P90X workouts. I started this series on Monday. I liked it and it wasn't too jarring for my joints. Nice going with KM yesterday! I hate that workout! LOL!

Belinda - Wow, holy smokes on the calorie burn! Nice going. When you say "leg presses", what do you mean? The kind that Cathe does or the ones you do with a machine? If it's the one with the machine, be careful. Those can irritate the low back.

Heather - Nice job on the leg workout yesterday. I'm sure DOMS will set in by mid day. :)

Chris - Now see, I get sick of hearing Tony talk, he gets on my nerves. I did hear you either love the guy or you hate him. I don't hate him, but he is annoying to me. Hope your calf is ok!

Debbie-things are much better at home still have the sex issue but he hasn't smoked in a month so to me thats more important we think once he gets off the medicine everything will be fine.

Hi girls,

I am finally back with personals!

Heather, LOL about your sleep pattern. I love cardio coach. CCV7 was my first time today. Btw, I had my first spaghetti squash today. DH even liked it. It was so delish!

Roxie, have fun with your workouts tonight.

Chris, glad your calf is feeling much better, be carful! Have fun with D20. I do like the leg pass machine in the gym, hate the once on the step! Big difference, IMO! I am sure you gonna be fine with your weigh in. I am jealous you all doing STS and getting your run in. don’t give me wrong, I do love the TC, love the cal burn. I do miss running.

Debbie, your workouts look intense! WTG! I did the leg press machine in the gym, love that one. Believe it or not the leg press machine did irritate my lower back today. Thanks for the heads up! I love the TC; it really burns a lot of cal. I am a sweaty mess too. I look like someone is standing next to me and pouring buckets of water on me. The girls next to me didn’t look like that, lol! I never sweat like this after 60 min. of running or stepping.

Nora, WTG on KM yesterday. The leg drills are a burner. LOL!

Wendy, what are your plans for today!

I will be back tomorrow!

I did do DISC 20, actually my calf tolerated it pretty well. No pulls. I did NOT do the calf work at the end. I did do the first segment of TBS. That is THE perfect stretch for lower body after lower body weight work. In fact, it's ALL lower body stretches. Loved it!

Oh , and I found the remote!!! I'm excited, I'll probably do Turbo Kick Round 31 tomorrow from Turbo Kick. If I can hold myself back from doing a run...

Debbie
: Those exercises look so cool! Funny how he gives them different names. See, Tony so reminds me of my big brother, I just love him!

Better get to cleaning, it's getting late....

Good Evening,

Didn't workout tonite my stomach is bothering me for some reason. Do any of you own Kimberly Spreen and if so what do you think of her workouts.

I suffered through Cardio Fusion. Really should have just stopped and gone back to it tomorrow. My HR monitor is all kinds of jacked up too so that didn't help my mood. It'd go from 154 to 54 then 160 then 30 something. So annoying. Anyway, I am taking tomorrow off from exercising! Grrrr...

Roxie - I have one of her workouts on a DVD called Star Trainers. It's ok, she's not annoying or anything. I would definitely try some of her other workouts, but it's not a go-to for me.

Hi girls!;)

Sorry, not feeling up to personals since my hand is pretty much numb so typing is tough tonight.

Here's today's workout:

iTread Set6 20 Min + 2 Songs= 25 Min
Calories burned= 303
Distance=2.0
BPM's=115,137,149,153,154,149,147,133.

Gym Style Legs= 67 Minutes
Calories burned= 520
I love leg work! I do have to add that for some reason doing deadlifts is not making my lower back happy. It really hurts when I do them, I did switch to lower weight on the barbell but still it seems to be an area that doesn't like that exercise. The floor exercises some of them on the ball are tough since my balance is not as good as it once was since MS. I had to have my fingers touching the floor to help balance check.

STS-Ab Circuits-Weights & Plates= 19 Minutes
Calories burned= 117 approx.
Ok this ab one always is a fun challenge and the plates are super tough but I just fight my way through as many as I can do with my weak wrists. I'm a Cathelite so I gotta fight through it and get r done! LOL!!

Great job the workouts you guys did and if you happened to take the day off, rest and enjoy and jump back in when you can with a workout.

Hugs to everyone and have a good night!

Nora
