Cracked Calluses Part 2: Petroleum Jelly

Holy moly moly MOLY!

Wow!

The calluses on my big toes are gone, along with the painful fissures (cracks).

On Sunday night I soaked the toes in warm water while bathing my kids.

Then,

b) gently scrubbed them with a callus file (file on one side, sandpaper thing on the other side)
c) applied petroleum jelly
d) covered with bandaid
e) later removed bandaid and went back to step b)

I used to have dry, deep, dead cracks in my calluses--with living, hurting, red skin at the bottom of the cracks.

Now--no more calluses, the skin is soft, and the cracks are gone--only shallow marks remain.

AMAZING!!!!!

and CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!!!!

Petroleum Jelly--amazing!

Tonight I'm going to wash and scrub my entire feet, and start covering them with P.J. and socks until my FEET are soft and the heel cracks are gone.

No more gross feet...

hi Gisela,

I have had "cracked" feet for years. If the cracks keep coming back, you may have a fungal infection. Keep an eye on them and see your doctor if it continues. For me, vaseline is only a temporary cure. I have to go on Lamisil for a few weeks to really clear it up well. I'm not sure if that's the case for you, but I figured I'd throw that out there, especially if you have ever suffered from athletes foot.

Good luck!

Thanks, ejostling.

I'm going to google athlete's foot and see what the symptoms are--I don't know much about it.

Okay...

no, I don't have that. I simply neglected my feet for too long, they got dry, and the outside edges of my big toes got one crack each. My heel "cracks" are shallow--just ugly.

Was it this thread or did I read it somewhere else where someone said that Vick Vaporub works really well on cracked heels too!

Petroleum Jelly is great, as is Aquaphor. I prefer Aquaphor for some reason, probably because that's what my mom always used on me when I was a kid. That stuff is great for severely dry skin!
