~~~~Coolers in December~~~~
Well, I guess I'm going to jury duty on Jan. 6th. They denied my request for an exemption. I really don't mind going. It seems like I get a jury summons every couple of years and my manager always offers to write a letter that there is no one to cover me while I'm gone so patient care will be compromised. This is true we don't have a casual pool of staff like nurses do when someone is gone on holidays the other therapists just have to see more patients and patients are priorized. I guess I've asked for to many exemptions that they told me I need to go this time.
It's funny how much advice I've gotten already, people keep telling me if I say how much I love the police or hate criminals or whatever that I'll get out of serving. I'm not lying on the stand in front of a judge!! Even I wanted too, I'm a terrible liar it wouldn't work. I'm in a union, I get full wages what do I care if I get picked. It's got to me better than working. I spend half my life treating the inmates anyways, I'll probably end up knowing the accused.
Patricia, is your ds feeling any better?? What a lousy way to spend the evening! We have a busy week yet at work, unfortuntely no slow downs at the hospital (as you found out yesterday!) I take it you get Friday and MOnday off for stat days? I get the Monday and Tuesday.
Laurie Some nice variety on your rest week but doesn't seem like much of a rest:cool:
It's our 20th wedding anniversary today!:D:D:D:D
Our real estate agent gave us a $100 gift certificate for the Keg (and a poinsetta) so DH and I are going out tomorrow as ds had a hockey game tonight.
Got HR done today, it did seem easier this week. Last night there was no workout as my quads were so sore!! I'm not sure if it was STS TB or LBB but I don't think they've been as sore since I ran the marathon!!! But I kept busy doing my Christmas cards and we went to the furniture store to buy a bench and accent chair that I happen to see and fall in love with! Totally no room in this house but will fit perfectly with our furniture and provide extra seating in our much bigger living room at the new house. They were on sale so picked them up but no where to put there. I've done a bit of packing and the house is getting cluttered/unorganized which is going to drive me crazy!!!! I like everything so nice and organized.
Funny how some people seem to get called more than 1x for jury duty and then some never! I wouldn't mind being called if I knew it wasn't something long term and I wouldn't have to use up my vacation. I wouldn't get paid if it went on for too long. $10/day that they pay you just doesn't quite put food on the table for me:eek::rolleyes:
So you too are finding out these new DVD when combined are quite the leg burner:D Our company closes at noon on Xmas Eve and NYs Eve so most people just end up taking those days off as only 1/2 day vacation is used up. I just find it a waste to come in for 1/2 a day though the last few years co-workers have been cooking a turkey lunch on Xmas Eve as we have a full kitchen here so its a nice way to start the holidays:D
Isn't in fun shopping for the new house. Too bad the stores can't just store the stuff for you in the meantime. Your life will probably be pretty cluttered for the new few months:D
I guess I should get to work - having a hard time getting motivated though:)
Evening Coolers
Went out for dinner after work then got our holiday grocery shopping done. Hey, the grocery store is only closed Xmas Day. That has got to be a first. Makes me feel better hosting dinner on Boxing Day incase we forget something:p
Did HIS - BC cardio only tonight.
Off to read in bed.
Well yesterday was another day of no workout, just enjoying a bit of a Christmas break. DH and I went out to dinner for our anniversary, the restaurant was very busy so service quite slow so we were there a long time. So didn't feel like working out when I got home.
Kids had their last day of school yesterday so shorter day for me because no extra driving!!
It's Xmas EVE:D
Last night was STS TB and I think that will be it for a few days.
We're up and going to be hitting the road shortly. Just going to my parents for a couple days. Less then 2hrs drive and the weather is good.
Have a great Merry Christmas Coolers
Morning Ladies,
Well I think that I have everything ready for Christmas. Was very busy running around the last couple of days, but did manage to get some workouts in. I will not be on-line until after Tuesday, because we are heading up to my parents tomorrow afternoon.
Wednesday my workout was MMA Boxing with weighed gloves. Yesterday was all three sections of Total Body Stretching. This morning was Kimberly Spreens Absolute Kickboxing. I did the premix that rotated the kb with the combat drills. I didn't do the abs, felt that the workout itself had enough ab work in it. Tomorrow will be Cardio Core & Balance.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Merry Christmas
Hope everyone survived and didn't have to release too many buttons at the waist:D:D
I got in Athletic Step this a.m. and now just waiting for company to come over.
Take care
I guess everyone has been busy with holiday festivities!!! Christmas always seems like such a whirlwind then I'm so tired afterwards.
Christmas eve I ended up at the hospital doing overtime! Then off to church and then DH's aunts and got home really late. Christmas morning was opening gifts at home and relaxing a bit, then to MIL's for a big family lunch then to my sister's for a big family dinner. Home really late again.
Boxing Day, DH and I braved the crowds to do some shopping. We needed a dishwasher and new tv for the new house and we were watching the flyers and there was some good deals so got that done. By the time we got home I was exhausted and super lazy yesterday.
Today I finally got a workout in, did Intensity. It wasn't pretty but I did complete it. Hoping to do the Jan rotation to keep me on track.
Reading the paper today, they said the jury for the murder trial of Candice Doerkson is going to be chosen the first week of Jan. That's when I'm there.
:confused: Candace was about 3 years longer than me and lived close to where I lived, she went missing when she was 13 walking home from school. I think I was 16. I just remember the whole community searching for her and everyone keeping kids protected. Then her body was found a few weeks later. They finally arrested some last year, about 25 years later with DNA evidence. Super famous case around here but it would be a very long trial.
I have a few days of holidays, only working Thurs./Friday this week. When does everyone go back to work? Workout plans for January??
Morning Coolers
It's my birthday and I almost forgot about it:):) My GF gave me some bath stuff and later on we're going over to my sisters for dinner.
DH got me a beautiful diamond bracelet for Xmas/B.D. along with a G.C. for lulelemon. I have 2 others for there so hope to get there later this week.
Santa brought several Nerf Guns so the kids spent Boxing Day playing that and out of the adults hair - best gift ever if you want the kids to leave you alone! Even the 19 year olds got in on the act!:)
In laws left this a.m. but more coming tomorrow. We have electricians working in the basement today but going to leave shortly to go looking at flooring.
Got in High Reps yesterday and did the cardio only from BC. That I would consider an early attempt at HiiT. Short (15 mins) but intense.
Hmm, my w/os plans for the new year - I want to gain muscle. I've noticed a difference with the heavier weights and I've started drinking protein shakes after a strength w/o. I'll see what the Jan. rotation is - but that's usually a killer:p:p I have 1.5 weeks left to the Dec.
Kim - Maybe knowing the girl will help get you off the jury. When they ask you questions just answer as if you've already made up your mind:eek: My 12yo niece has a sell phone b/c she walks home on a busy street. Not such a bad idea I guess.... Ohh, fun shopping - hope the stores weren't too hectic. We went to Costco yesterday and it wasn't too busy - Not the place I think of going to Sales!
Off to have a few leftovers.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATRICIA!!!
Hope you have a great birthday! Tomorrow is my mom's birthday and we're having a girls only dinner, mom, her 3 dds, and her 2 gds. Should be fun!
The nerf gun fight with relatives sounds like a great thing for the kids to do!
Got STS TB done this morning and took the kids cross country skiing this afternoon. It was dd's first time skiing, and I was surprised how well she did! I guess there is some athlete of the year in there.
Did you pick out some flooring? Only 5 weeks till we move, I'm looking into arranging some consultations for ordering window treatments and DH is getting quotes from moving companies.
Going to be lazy this evening and enjoy the new tv. DS is in a Christmas hockey tournament so has a game almost every day. I think dd is hockey'd out so the girls are going to skip today's game.
Afternoon Coolers,
Finally back from our venture up north, wasn't to bad driving on Christmas afternoon that was a plus. Nice visit with my parents, and was able to visit with two of my Aunts (my Godmothers) and my Grandmother.
This morning I started my STS undulating rotation and started with STS Disc #1 Chest, Shoulders & Biceps and my arms where shaking during the workout. Would like to get in another workout later today, so will see how motivated I am later today. It sure is nice to be off of work for a little while yet.
Patricia, Happy Birthday! Hope it was a good one.
Kim, Not to long and the big moving day will arrive!
Have a great day!
Morning Coolers
Lets see, yesterday was Lower Leg Blast then I treated myself to a manicure:) Today was MMA Boxing - no abs.
I've arranged a playdate this afternoon for DS - should get him away from playing Lego Star Wars which if we let him he would play all day! Oh, we have lights in the basement! Just some minor electrical work left to do and we're ready to start boarding:)
SIL and BIL came for dinner last night and stayed to midnight. They had a 2.5 hr drive home - better them then me. I was surprised they stayed so long but they didn't want to sleep over.
Laurie - I'm playing with the idea of STS next, but do less sets to make them shorter workouts - or do all sets but skip an excercise. Its going to be hard to get up on Mon. DS is just starting to sleep in to 7ish:eek:
Kim - well, we brought home some samples and I think we've decided on cork for the music/play room, hardwood everywhere else and in the powder room we're looking at leather tile (I'd never seen it before and its really cool) but we're concerned about water damage so most likely we'll stick to tile. Great that you did STS and x-country skiing in the same day. You guys put me to shame. DH went snowmobiling at my parents but 2hrs south we don't have any and it's to get up to +8 in the next day or so. I've been wanting to rent Salt with A. Jolie but we have not had a single night with out company. Tonight might be the night:p:D
Off to shower.
No workout for me today, going to take today and tomorrow off and then hopefully start on the Jan. rotation. Busy day today with work, ds's hockey game and taking dd to daycare. DD went back to spend the day at her old daycare, she was so excited to see her friends! She had a great time!
Patricia, sounds like some neat flooring choices. Will there be cork in the workout area? The funny thing about building a house is that there was so many choices to make that it feels like I really didn't put much effort into each choice. I was so busy picking a lot, style of house, that the details were kind of overlooked. If I was to pick a new floor for a current home, I would probably spend many hours choosing but with that new house there was so many choices to make that I pick out the flooring in minutes. That's why I'm so scared that I won't like my choices. I really wished we had done some more prep work before having to make our choices.
Would you do a 3 or 6 month STS rotation?
Laurie Sounds like you had a great holiday! Did you get lots of snow over the holidays? Are you off till next week?
Happy New Years Eve
Went shopping today for my b.d. present from DH - bought a new camera - I had to pitch in as I have expensive tastes:D:):p
Just finished doing High Reps and tomorrow is a rest day!
We have 2 couples coming over tonight - but we're going out to dinner to a nice family pizza place around the corner then back here to plan our trip to Las Vegas in March.
Kim - Get all rested up for the Jan. rotation (If I was Cathe - insert evil laugh:p) My w/o room will have a vinyl gym floor. We already bought it and just waiting for my room to be emptied out of all the basement storage crap! I hear ya on worrying about picking the right styles, colours. DH is sooo good at that - he has some artistic talent. I have trouble picturing the look until its all done (which isn't a little too late:eek: at that point). I'm only going to commit to a 3 mo rotation - as I get bored pretty easy;) How is your weather there? Its turned really mild here.
Off to get dressed and go see a movie - Yogi Bear or something like that.
No Jan rotation yet hopefully it's a fun one!
Just home from work and waiting for the family. They are at ds's hockey game. They won the tournament and ds won the "hardest working player" award.
We are supposed to go to see the Harry Potter movie tonight but it's so cold here (minus 30's) that I'm starting to wonder if I really want to go out again.
What a great birthday present! Sounds like a really fun New Year's Eve, what is ds doing this evening! Las Vegas is a great place to go with friends.Which hotel are you staying at?
