Completely OT - interview question

I need some extra cash!!

Last week a stray took up at my house and my dd and I made some flyers and posted them around. While at the Humane Society shelter I saw a part-time position with the right hours available and applied. I got called for an interview tomorrow and am totally clueless as to what I should wear. Any other interview I have gone to required "dressing up". This is a bathe, feed, play with the animals job, so I'm not sure. I was going to wear some good jeans with a nice shirt and shoes and my suede jacket. Just doesn't seem right to wear jeans to an interview, though - but it doesn't seem right to wear dress clothes to the animal shelter, either.

(side note: no calls on the dog :-( she has been here a week and I believe she is a "throw-away" I get a lot of those where I live and now we think she may be pregnant  ;( )

Marne - bless you for taking in the stray. I could not imagine abandoning my dog (or cat for that matter). Hope she's not preggers!

As for the interview - I would wear a pair of nice trousers and a nice shirt. I just cannot bring myself to wear jeans to an interview. But, toss a pair in the back of the car, just in case they want to see how you interact with the animals!

Coming from an HR person, I would personally wear some casual dress clothes instead of jeans.

Remember your first impression is the one that they remember. And even though it seems like a position where the actual dress code will be jeans, I would treat the interview as a process and not the actual "job".

Good luck - I wish I my job included playing with animals - at least the non-human kind. }(

As a side note, my daughter is a dog trainer at a local pet store chain - I wish it would pay my bills like my current position does and I'd be outta there in a heartbeat :+
