Coming up on 50

Thanks, Robin & Nancy!

Unfortunately I have to work on my b'day even if it is Saturday! I'm actually looking forward to the b'day, though. It really doesn't bother me like turning 40 did. I think I was afraid I would fall apart at 40. So far I'm not really falling apart yet at almost 50 so there's hope! DH is planning something. I will try not to fall asleep (I'm a tax accountant, the hours sure add up during this time of year)

Thanks 50. Actually it's one root canal, 3 extractions, 2 bone grafts and 3 implants scheduled for 2006. But whose keeping track. :p

Oh gosh I LOVE Napa!!! I want to come!! What a wonderful way to spend your fiftieth. I highly recommend that you have dinner at Tra Vigne in St. Helena on the night day of your birthday. I think it is VERY special.

I'm sure your DH is planning something good, Leslie.

I told my DH that I've always wanted to go to Le Bernadin and I'd like to go for my birthday. I told him that it's very hard to get reservations and that he's going to have to work hard at it. It's the number 1 rated restaurant in New York city by all the restaurant critics. I hope he's up to the task. I coached him a bit and told him that it might help to mention that it's his wife 50th. }( That's the only plan we have, but I think it's enough to make me feel special.

Yes, nancy - I am looking forward to Napa myself. Thanks for the recommendation of Tra Vigne - we were also looking at Greystoke(stone?) at the culinary Institute of america, Brix, Rutherford Grill- - there are just so many good restaurants out there. We went to French Laundry a while back - I think in 2001 - it was REALLY hard to get a reservation there. Had to keep calling and calling. But I will say, I probably will never have a dining experience like that again - it was really exquisite.

HOpe you have better luck with Le Bernadin! That sounds yummy too

And Leslie Happy 50th! Imagine things are pretty busy for you right now and they are about to get busier with April 15th coming up.

Dear 50isnifty, a trip to NAPA sounds great. It, too, is on my list of must-go-to-someday places. My DH and I love to visit the wineries in the finger lakes region of New York. One of the places, Bully Hill, says Napa is autoparts, finger lakes is wine. Living in PA, where all alcohol comes from the state store, we are very limited in the variety of wines we can find. I look through The Wine Bible and just drool, but I dare you to try to find some of the wines around here. I am especially partial to California Zinfandels (red, not white). Enjoy your trip. As far as the <---thread, it is a daily thread where the "<---" means "fill in your name here". I am addicted, as are others, and you are certainly welcome to join in. And, also, thanks for asking about my son. We haven't found a summer camp for him yet.

Believe it or not -Never been to New York but that's on my list to do too! May visit DC this fall. LOL about Napa being autoparts though. That's funny. Tried any australian wines lately? I like Rosemount estate, their Cab-merlot blend is a nice affordable table wine. Another good label, although not from Australia -is Ross Andrews - they have a good Cab - I think 2002 that's superb.

Thanks for clue-ing me in on the <------------thread - its pretty funny! When I have time, I may chime in.

well, gotta go - more work to do!
