Coming soon -- Who's Who Book!!

Hi Road Trippers!

Just a little head's up so that you can be planning ahead --

By the end of the week we will be e-mailing all of you a Microsoft Word document which will be the fill-in form for the annual Road Trip "Who's Who" book. If you choose to participate, you will need to e-mail or snail mail this form back to us, filled in, by July 1. (Wait Listers, don't worry -- if you are added into the RT later, we'll work with you to get your page done for late addition to the book.)

For those of you who are first-time RT'ers, the "Who's Who" book is an alphabetized book of Road Trippers' mini-biographies. It's a traditional RT souvenir that is Cathe's gift to you, and it's just a priceless tool for getting to know your fellow RT'ers, putting together faces with names and Forum screennames, getting autographs and making RT memory notes in the margins, and keeping up with RT friends in the future. Participation in this book isn't mandatory, but we strongly encourage it. You may, of course, omit any content that you're not comfortable sharing publicly.

Also, please note that you'll have the option of including a photo of yourself, which we'll reproduce REALLY TINY in the top right corner of the page. You can go ahead and be getting this photo ready to go while you wait to get the fill-in form from us. (Just a suggestion -- take it or leave it. ;-))

Here's what you need to know re: your photo: Because the picture will be reproduced in B&W and teeny tiny, we ask that you PLEASE SEND HEAD SHOTS ONLY -- think passport picture. (This is a small change from years past, when we accepted full-body and "family" shots. We have found that they don't reproduce well at all in the tiny, B&W format.) The easiest way to handle getting your picture to us is to send it digitally (in JPEG format) via e-mail. You CAN snail mail a photo and we'll scan it. If you don't have a digital camera but would like to send us a digital photo, no worries -- it's still easy to do. Have someone take your head shot picture with a film camera, and when you take your film to be developed just ask the photo place to give you the photo in digital format on a disc. Then you can upload the photo to your computer and e-mail it to us.

For those of you who are repeat RT'ers, we promise you that this year's Who's Who book will definitely be improved from last year's, which in our view had awful print quality on the photos. We knew that last year and weren't happy about it, but for a variety of reasons weren't able to re-do them. This year we are changing printers. ;-)

Post here if you have Who's Who book questions. I'll let y'all know here, also, when the MS Word form has gone out via e-mail.

P.S. We do NOT have the capability of handling Word Perfect, Works or other word processing software. If you don't have access to a computer with MS Word, please let us know. We CAN send you a PDF form which you'll need to snail mail us.

So excited to finally get more RT mail!!

I am not to good with the whole digital picture, emailing thing. Have a digital camera & will do my best at trying but may end up using the pony express & hoping it gets there.

Hope you enjoyed your vacation & see you soon~

Kathy, would it be helpful for the print quality if we were to convert the photo to black and white before we send it to you? Same thing with resizing it....can you give us an approximate size so those of us who know how can format it before sending? Thanks.

Hey Jodi!

Yessiree, both would be helpful although aren't necessary. The picture will be sized at approximately 1.75 - 2 inches square. Sometimes we have to make them a little smaller than that, even, when we're squeezing text onto the page. We don't want to unduly limit what y'all write. :7

I'll be getting the form out to you guys later this week! Thanks again for the helpful suggestions.

P.S. -- How're you enjoying this cold snap we're having in Atlanta? ;-)

I'm not good with digital pictures, either. Last year I didn't send one with my info. This year I might try and do so. I'm going to try and borrow my daughter's digital camera (she's in college at A&M and hopefully I'll see her this weekend because it's Father's Day!). Maybe she can educate me on how to use it so I can maybe post a picture -- we'll see!

Hey Jerry! Sorry I haven't been online today to see this sooner.

We could TRY a pic from your cell phone. The problem with those pics most of the time is that the resolution is so poor they can't be enlarged to "normal" size. Since we're doing a 2" square picture, perhaps it'd be okay, and I'm happy to try. You might experiment with it yourself before sending it along to us. :)

Kathy,

Thanks for the reply. We used our digital camera instead. My wife isn't afraid of it anymore, she found the simplicity of the camera phone to her liking, but she took the bold step up to a regular camera!!

Julie (or anyone else), if there's any way I can help, let me know. For example, if you know how to upload to Picture Trail or another site, I can grab the picture and format it to get it to Kathy or something like that. I'm happy to help!
