Clothing question for recently pregnant moms or moms 7-8 months along

I am 20 weeks along and I have a clothing question for the moms that were recently pregnant or the moms that are further along. Right now I am 1 pant size up from my pre-pregnancy clothes. I have found that the pant styles today let me wear normal clothes because the waistband sits lower on my waist (i.e. Gap Long and Lean stretch jeans). I do not want to spend too much money on maternity clothes and I would much rather buy normal (cheaper and better looking) pants that are a little bit bigger, with a lower waist. Do you think I should keep buying the pants with a lower waistband or just start buying maternity clothes? I know at some point my belly will drop some and regular pants/shorts will be a problem, I just can’t remember when this happens (7 months?). This is my third child, clothing styles are definitely different since my first and second children (ages 6 and 7). Back then and I could not get away with the normal pants (high waist pants) during my late second and third trimester, I hope that I can wear the lower waist for the next 6-8 weeks. Please let me know what you think or if it worked for you!

RE: Clothing question for recently pregnant moms or mom...

I am 28 weeks pregnant...I am still comfortable in regular clothes if the waist line can sit below my belly (which is VERY low at this point! lol)..and this only holds true for anything with an elastic waist band at this point.

Otherwise, I wear my maternity pants. I have one pair which has a normally placed waist band only it's a thicker version and stretchy. The rest are all the more traditional maternity pants where the whole front panel is made up of some stretchy material that goes far up over the belly.

I was out of most regular clothes fast...they just weren't comfortable for me anymore...I was very skeptical of maternity clothes at first but I have grown to really appriate the comfort that can be found in maternity styles. A lot of the styles are very cute too, which was quite surprising to me!

I have already decided that I will not be trying to SQUISH my post preg. figure into my pre preg pants :p but would much rather just wear my maternity clothes until I have lost the excess weight.

Have a great work out!

I think you should wear what you find the most comfortable. Like Wendy, I too started wearing maternity clothes sooner that I thought but mainly because I was much more comfortable in them. It got to where I couldn't stand anything tight on my belly and opted for the traditional panel. I lived in one pair of maternity jean shorts during the summer (I had an August baby) because I couldn't even stand to wear pants at that point. I wore them even on cool days and just threw on a big sweatshirt. I sometimes wore 3/4 length sweats around the house but they weren't maternity so even they annoyed me at times. It was the weight gain and feeling anything tight on my legs or belly really bothered me (probably because it reminded me of the weight gain!) But also I couldn't stand to wear jewelry except for earrings, too. I remember it was all about comfort!

well i know with my first pregnancy i was able to get away with larger size clothes until about my 6 month. then i gave in and bought a few maternity pieces it definitely made alot of difference. i think it also depends on how big your belly gets towards the end of our pregnancy. i was able to intermingle larger clothes and maternity so that i didn't have to buy alot of maternity clothes.
