Morning girls,

Quick start for us - gotta take girls to their dance/gym classes this morning.

Slept in this morning so only had a chance to do cardio blast from drill max. Later will do the gauntlet!

Today I am thankful for the grace and mercy extended to me from my heavenly father. Who I am that he'd bless me so?

Keep it clean!

Morning Angie and all to follow!

Yesterday was a complete train wreck - total disaster. I was stressed in the morning, so I ended up doing some cleaning, then went into work at 7 am so I could get a jump start on the piles of crap to do at my office. The good news is I got a lot done at work, and I can leave there today and forget all about my caseload and just enjoy a break. But although my work day was productive, there was no workout and eats were HORRIFIC.

(By the way, my client was denied bond and will be spending Thanksgiving and Christmas in the county jail!)

Only half a day of work for me today!! I will run before work, and then after work I have some appointments and I will hit up the gym in between and make up yesterday's workout. Then home for cleaning and cooking - I'm making a chocolate raspberry cheesecake!

good morning everyone!! horrid night of sleep. i was up every 45 min, for no real reason. it was thundering and lightening when my alarm went off, so i ignored it. i will try to go to the gym with the kids this am - long run, abs, and legs on tap. i will finish up at nap. dh left at 6 and won't be home until 9 tonight, if then. fingers crossed he does not get stranded somewhere..

katie, sorry about your client. that is really sad. put yday behind you and just focus on today, and the next 4.5 you have off:)

angie, great wos as usual! eats were awesome yday - only one tiny bite of brownie batter. i totally fought off the cravings. today i have to make cookies - lets hope i can do as well.:eek:bbl

Hey Katie! Sorry you had such a rough day yesterday! It's just that time of year, isn't it? So frustrating! I hope your run this morning helps you release some tension and gets you through the day until your "vacation" starts!

Just got back from the girls' dance and gym classes and they're having mac&cheese while I have a protein shake. Then we'll do some reading and I'll do my other workout. Working out twice a day sure makes the day go by quickly!

OK, hope everyone is having a good day!

Hi Everyone!

I thought taking today off would make things easier but somehow I have managed to fill it with lots to do. I need to go to the grocery store to get ingredients and the wine store to get wine to bring. I also have my chiro appt at 11:15 (still don't have xrays - oops) and then a meeting with my new company at 12:30. I need to make pumpkin bars this afternoon and pack for the next couple of days. I am thankful that I don't have work drama for the next 6 days. I did do GS Legs last night and I will do KB this morning.

Katie, sorry yesterday was so horrible. Glad you have a much needed break coming up.
Angie, you are amazing doing the double workouts. I don't know if I could find the time.
Nina, sorry about the lack of sleep last night. I hope you can get your workout in.

Morning!

Sorry no check in yesterday-I got lazy. We had Nevena's parent/teacher conference-she's doing great! Then it was another day of dance. I di manage to workout-at 7:45! I did a 48 minute incline walk on the treadmill. Eats were were meh-need groceries! Today my friend's coming by for a playdate at 11:30. I want to make some chili before they come. The girls have dance tonight and I need to go out for some things they need for the recital. And I have to workout-legs and abs. Maybe 4DS Legs?

Angie, I can't believe the workouts you're doing 2 of!! I did DM Cardio Blast the other day and was wiped out! Way to go!

Katie, sorry about the crummy day. I'm amazed at the choices people make sometimes. Hopefully your day goes by fast so you can go home and enjoy your time off.

Nina, I cannot imagine how you workout after a night like that. It doesn't take much lack of sleep for me to cop out of a workout. Awesome job on the treat resistance!

I need coffee!

angie, interesting, wo 2x a day making the day go quickly! i suppose if i am having a terrible one i could try a 2nd wo at night...

colleen, busy day for you! hope your mtg with the new company allows you to feel some relief from the stress of the one you are leaving.

nina, nice wo on tap! resist those cookies -- if youre like me, you will have some tomorrow anyway so skip them today!!

katie, it is so sad your prob client will miss the holidays with his loved ones because of his choices.

kate, hope you are settling in CO.

klaudia, good wo plans! good for nevena doing well at school! how old is she? ods has been so random with his grades since starting HS (this term was lots of Bs, a C or two, and then a D=(

i am going to try the group groove class (dance) today. some dance wos ive tried have been pretty low intensity, PROMISING myself that if i dont get a good sweat going then i will do a full cardio session on the bike or rower afterwards.

EATS MUST BE CLEAN TODAY -- knowing tomorrow will be horrid.

Hey Wendy! That's one of the reasons I keep avoiding the grocery store-there's nothing good to eat in the house and I know tomorrow will be a whole day of eating. Nevena is only 3! Her teacher told us we're going to be in trouble cause she knows as much as a lot of kindergarteners! And she still has two years before then! ODD got her first B- this year in 5th grade math-she wasn't happy at all. And my middle daughter has a mild learning disability so we have a little bit of everything in our house! Great plan if the dance class doesn't work out. I wish I had a gym membership for the cardio variety. I wish Shock Cardio would hurry up and ship already!

klaudia, i am also anxiously awaiting shock cardio! SUPER excited for MMA and travel fit and also hoping the step will be modifiable for me (im a pretty good modifier but some wo dont lend them selves to it so much). I think the HIIT cardios will be pretty unusable for me right now. not sure if i will even hang on to them, i might end up selling.

i was thinking nevena was in grade school! lol, you have a little smarty pants on your hands =)

Can I be totally selfish, skip personals and whine to you guys? I need an outside perspective on this. Remember I told you my cousin called the other night and basically gave me a hard time for how we care for my mother? Well, my parents are going to be at my brother's house for T-Day and I asked my cousin if she and her mother wanted to get together for lunch on Friday to celebrate my mother's birthday (we all live in basically the same area--Mom's birthday was yesterday). We used to celebrate my mom's birthday on Thanksgiving because we were all together. Well, several years ago, before I was married, I invited everyone to my house for Thanksgiving. My aunt told me my house was too small to fit everyone and it would be uncomfortable so they would do their own thing. Okay, fine. So we stopped doing Thanksgiving together. Last year my parents were at my brother's for Turkey Day and, same thing, I asked my aunt and my cousins to have lunch on Friday to celebrate my mom's birthday, which we did and it was very nice.

So my aunt called last night, but I didn't answer because I didn't want to talk to her. She left a message and said thanks for the lunch invitation for Friday, but her daugher would still be in town (my other cousin) and she would be too tired and maybe we could have supper next week.

WTH? So at first I thought my cousin didn't give my aunt the whole picture because she had an agenda for our phone call. Now I'm wondering if my aunt doesn't want to see my mom because it's upsetting to see how far my mom's disease has progressed. And, trust me, it's plenty upsetting, but come on! And part of what makes me angry is that none of them ever visit or call my mom or anything. In fact, I would be surprised if any of them even remembered it was her birthday yesterday.

Ugh! I'm so mad I woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep.

There was another year I had Thanksgiving at my house for my family and my in-laws. My sister and her husband were in from PA and after dinner the 3 of us took my mom over to my aunt's house. As soon as we got there, my cousins left to go to a movie. Is it me or is that rude?

Sorry for the long rant, I'm just so upset with these people. The only time they ever see my mom is when I make it happen. None of them ever call to say they'd like to see her or go with me or my brother when we visit them EVERY SATURDAY.

Okay, I'm done now. I'm thinking I might not even call my aunt back and explain. I'm just sick of these people.

anne

Anne, hugs and more hugs to you. I cannot begin to imagine what it must feel like to be taking care of an aging parent with such a debilitating disease. You are doing an amazing job. I think you've done everything you can to help facilitate a continued relationship with your aunt and her family. Some people just don't get it. You can't change them, but you can change how you react to them. I know how hurt you must feel at their callousness. But in my opinion, you've done everything you can. Take your mom out for her birthday with those who want to go and have a wonderful time. If they call, say they are more than welcome to visit, etc., but don't put yourself out on their account. You're a great daughter and are doing an amazing job with the difficult job you've been entrusted with. Don't forget that. Your parents are very lucky they have you.

Hey all,

The Guantlet is done. That's fun. I have had the terminator workouts for a while but have never done them. I really liked the mix up! I had many interruptions from the kids but still got it done!

Anne, (((HUGS))) - difficult family members are no fun! We all have them and sometimes you always feel like you are trying to fix something that they messed up! I agree with Klaudia though, do what you can to make your mom's birthday special and don't worry about the others.

Wendy, I too am anxious for Shock Cardio - would like something new! Good luck at your group class - I'm sure you'll burn up a good sweat!

Klaudia, way to get your WO in last night and good luck wit legs today! And what a great compliment about Nevena! (Ok, I've asked before! How did you pick your girls' names? I want the story!) We've heard similar things about Annabel. It will be interesting to see how our two girls are different.

Colleen, it's frustrating how days off end up being busy! At least you don't have to deal with work stress! Hope your chiro appt goes well.

Nina, sorry you didn't sleep well. I know that there is nothing worse! I hope your day goes well and you are able to get your WO in. I'm with Klaudia though - I can't workout when I'm tired!

Kate, hope you're having a great trip!

Hi Lisa and Becky!

Oh, Ryan made protein bars and they are awesome. I'll get the recipe from him and post later!

anne, so sorry for all the FD. hugs to you. try to enjoy your thxgiving without worrying about other ppls meshugas (as we say in my family -- yiddish for craziness, and we all have a little...). its def theirs not yours. if it was me i would not call them back until i had more time to think about my response.

angie, yes, pls post that protein bar recipe! ive been meaning to make them for ages now and keep putting it off...

Anne - Big hugs to you! I'm so sorry for how your aunt is acting. I know how hard it is to not let what family does get to you, but sometimes it's just not worth the emotional stress. You have a lot on your plate and if your aunt can't recognize that, then boohoo to her for being so out of touch with being sensitive to other people's realities. Don't waste or invest any emotional energy toward your aunt. Focus it on your mom and yourself to get the best positive outcome for the both of you because that is what is most important. Sorry if I sound so preachy, but trust me, family issues can be a big thing in my life too, lol.

Angie - I left a message for you on yesterday's thread about Heroes. Just wanted to know what you thought of the whole Nathan/Sylar storyline. I know I'm such a dork, but love that show and just wanted to discuss a little, lol.

Nina - Wow you're like the energizer bunny. I'm with Klaudia. Bad sleep would make me want to not workout.

Colleen - A day off just relaxing and doing NOTHING would be so nice wouldn't it? Hope your errands get done quick so you can at least relax a little.

Katie - Sorry for the long work day. Do you get Friday off?

Klaudia - Yay for great reports from school! Both my kids got good reports this pt conference. Although the workload for my ds makes my head spin. I really don't remember having that much homework as a child and I think I did fine, lol. How was the Nutcracker or not yet? My dd is starting rehearsals for their spring recital.

Wendy - I miss gym classes when I hear you talking about them. I'm ready for Shock Cardio also.

Alright, did part of an Insanity wo then got bored and finished up with GS Tri's and push-ups then had to shower and get ready for the day. Stopping off at work then buying a new carseat for P. I have to take her with me today so I have great company. :) Anyway, hoping I can keep my pc in tact with Thanksgiving tomorrow. I would hate to gain back all that I lost in a day! Glad that turkey and pumpkin are not my fave foods in the world.

Lisa

Lisa, I love Heroes too. That whole Sylar/Nathan story line trips me up a bit. I can't quite figure out how he could be in Nathan's mind as well as Matt's. And when the body changes, I can't figure out if it's actually changing in front of them or if it is just trying to make it so we think it's one person over the other. And if Peter can heal people, can he heal Nathan??

Anyway... those are my thoughts. I think it's getting more interesting now that they've brought the crazy carnies into it!

Aaawwwwwww, thanks you guys. I know everything you're saying is true, it's just hard because my mom and my aunt were always very close before my mom got sick.

Klaudia, thank you. Your words mean more than you know.

Angie, thanks to you too.

Lisa, you don't sound preachy, just wise. ;) I'll try to take that to heart.

Wendy, we use that word, too! We're not Jewish, I think my mom just liked it. I never knew how to spell it, tho. Thanks.

My office closed early, so I'm heading home before I get my hair cut. I'll catch up more from home.

Hey all, here's the protein bar recipe. It's got rice krispies which aren't super "clean" but the rest is pretty good. They're really yummy and a lot cheaper than clif bars!

Categories: Snack
Yields: 6

1 1/4 cups Rice Krispies
1 cup oats
3 tablespoons flaxseed
1/4 cup dried apples
1/4 cup almonds; chopped
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons brown sugar; packed
1/3 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 tablespoons chocolate protein powder

Combine the Rice Krispies, oats, flaxseed, dried fruit, and nuts in a
large bowl.

Bring the honey and brown sugar to a boil in a small saucepan over
medium-high heat, stirring constantly; remove from heat. Stir in peanut
butter and vanilla until blended.

Pour peanut butter mixture over cereal mixture, stirring until coated
(mixture will be stiff). Press mixture firmly into an 8-inch square pan
(sprayed with nonstick cooking spray) using a large square of wax paper.
Cool in pan on a wire rack. Cut into 6 bars. (Wrap bars tightly in
plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator).

i indulged in some choc chips. rest of day is clean and tidy!

Hi Everyone!

So my back problems are related to how I sleep (which is what I thought). I think I need new pillows so maybe that will help. I have not had any time to relax except for now. I have pumpkin bars in the oven and they will be done in about 10 minutes. Then I head out to pick up dry cleaning and shopping. I have a 40% off coupon for Banana Republic and since most of my pants are too big I am buying ones that fit.

Nina, don't worry about the complaining. I find that no matter how much time you spend with some people it is never enough.
Wendy, how did you like the dance class? I am not very coordinated so I usually avoid them.
Klaudia, what kind of chili did you make? I am looking for a good beef or vegetarian chili recipe.
Angie, ^5 on completing the gauntlet. I always forget I have that one. Thanks for posting the recipe.
Lisa, your lucky to have an extra helper at work. I hope P is not too distracting.
Anne, I am sorry that your aunt is acting that way. I know it is hard seeing someone you love that way but she needs to be an adult and accept it.
