Morning all,
Sorry I never came back yesterday. I got in super packing/cleaning/laundry mode. Then last night we were invited to dinner at the home of Annabel's best friend from school. They have been nothing but kind and helpful to us since we've met them and they are beyond hospitable. They have some friends who are in love with the US and have traveled there numerous times who wanted to meet us. It was a fun night but along French tradition, the meal lasted 4 hours and we didn't get home until 11. Annabel stayed awake but Ellie crashed at about 9:45 on my lap. The food was so interesting. For the "aperitif" we had champagne and they set snack foods on the coffee table (chip and cheeto type things, olives, cherry tomatoes). Then when we sat at the table, they served an endive type salad, just shredded and mixed with an oil based/balsalmic type of dressing and along with that some sort of quiche. I think it had mushrooms and some other veggies and I'm pretty sure it had pumpkin in it... not quite positive. Then for "dinner" they had this hot plate kind of thing in the middle of the table and each person had a little spatula. You put a piece of cheese on that and then it went under the hot plate. On top of the hot plate were potatoes. You were supposed to pour the cheese on your potatoes. It was good. Then they also had another type of salad that seemed to have raisins in it (dressing mixed in as well), bread, and rolled deli kind of meat. Then there was another salad with larger lettuce... I was so confused about all the salads. Then for dessert she made this thing called speculoos which was a spiral shaped cake (all they really have here) with some sort of filling with homemade chocolate mousse to accompany it. The whole meal we were just watching them for our cues. It was funny but they were so nice.
Anyway, today the girls have their gym and dance classes and then we need to go get Christmas gifts for their teachers. Probably chocolate from my fave shop (Jeff de Bruges) and I need to swing by and see my friend Rebekah before we leave as well.
So from yesterday:
Nina, I'm with Kate... I'm on my way to sit on you. I know you are a determined woman and have had much success from your disciplined workout regimen, but PLEASE listen to your body and give yourself a rest until you are fully recovered. And try to enjoy your dinner tonight with your friend. Friends are the people that help us through times like this.
Kate, sorry about Mike. The flu always has to touch everyone in the house! UGH. Hope Julia doesn't get it. No fun to have a puking baby. How was Max & Erma's? I've never been there.
Wendy, good luck working out your new schedule! How did JJ's check up go?
Colleen, amazing how an insanity workout can affect you after being away for a while, huh? I'm a little annoyed b/c I think it's what aggravated my shin but oh well. C'est la vie.
Sorry about SIL! Keep us posted. Hope everything is OK.
Klaudia, I'm so confused about your WO. Did you do a premix? Isn't it Chest and Triceps for GS? Either way, great job! Good luck with the rest of your shopping!
Anne, way to do personals but tell us nothing about yourself. What's up!?
Hi Lisa and Becky and Robin and Katie!
Off to do more cleaning/packing/laundry. It will be my life for the next day and a half!
Have a great Wednesday!
