Clean eating-I want sweets, help!

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today is the first day of my eating SUPER clean (Eat to Live regime) and all I can think about it eating something sweet. Does this feeling pass? If not, I don't think I'll be able to get past this feeling. ;( And, I could go for a cheeseburger and fries, too. }(

OK - I feel better admitting my cravings, but I still have to get past them. I can't wait to get home from work and workout to clear my brain.

You're in what I like a to call a "detox crisis"...You're going to fel that way for a couple of days (and up to 2 weeks), you may also feel tired, irritable and have some blemishes...Usually it takes a week or so for that to pass...I WOULD NOT try a seperate detox system (colon cleansing, liver cleansers, etc...)...I tried that when I first started a "clean" lifestyle, and ended up even worse...Once the toxins are out of your system, you'll be amazed at how you feel...

Some tips for the first week (or until symptoms subside):

Upon awaking, and before bed...Sqeeze a half of a lemon into a large glass of water and drink. If you're craving sweet, you can add some stevia, but no Splenda! Splenda is a product of sugar, but is still LOADED with chemicals!

Lighten your workout load...Try yoga or pilates, take walks...Changing eating habits doesn't seem like a big deal...But detoxing is a HUGE deal for your body to deal with!!

If you crave something, drink a glass of water...Wait 15 minutes...

Take supplements, but watch ingredients...Don't want to counteract your NEW clean lifestyle!

Eat every 3-4 hours...

Make sure you're getting an extra bit of sleep at night..

Learn to make "good" sweets to nosh on (or salty, you'll go through those cravings, too)...

Hope this helps a bit!!

In good health,
Marti Jean
