I just had to say thanks Clare sorry if I spelled your name wrong couldn't remember if there was an i in it :7 .. you reminded me in a post about a week ago that running burns fat, and its working where just walking was way slow at burning fat.
hippahips, thanks for posting about your hubby starting to run and his obliques are starting to come through, I know you said he started 6 weeks or maybe 7 weeks now, how long does he run and does he do it everyday? I am running every day either on my treadmill when its too cold outside, or outside when I can.
Just wanted to say thanks to you both........ :7 Rhonda

Hi Rhonda, when I saw my ID on a thread, my first thought was, "Oh no, someone probably thinks I said something offensive and is calling me on it," what with all the hoopla going on around here lately. Whew!:)

Anyway, please don't mention it. My hubby has been running about two months this week, to the best of my recollection. Doctor's orders. Our doctor had run out of ways to keep his cholesterol down. She'd been doing this the last two years. The only thing left was exercise, which my husband had slowly abandoned due to so many pressures in our lives. So he started running about 30 minutes at a time, about 4-5 times a week. Now he's usually gone for about 45 minutes. He said there's a point in his route where he has to go uphill. He used to just walk fast through that place before and still get winded. Now he runs past it with no problem. It IS unfair that his obliques are starting to show without him doing any ab work, while I kill myself on the stability ball over and over. It's a guy thing, I guess. But I'm glad his cholesterol level is back to normal. He, his doctor and I couldn't believe how fast it went down. His triglycerides are also in the normal range as he quit eating chocolate (he's a chocoholic) cold turkey, which was really hard on him.

Well, I hope you burn all that extra fat you need to burn. I know you have a goal to reach. Good luck.

Pinky:)

Good for him pinky, thats great, I am trying to keep away from sugar as much as possible, not an easy thing, but do-able. My hubby is getting ready to start up on atkins, unless he changes his mind, I hope it doesn't change his mind, although it will be more work for me in the cooking department. I want to see him lose about 70 lbs.
I still do my ab work with ab hits and stability ball, but now I run instead of walking. I am close to running 50 minutes without stopping, not easy though. ....... Rhonda :7
