Circuit workouts - how often do you do them?

I am just wondering how often people do circuit workouts and how you incorporate them into your workouts. If I do weight training 3x week and cardio 3x week and then rest or yoga 1x week, there is no time for circuits and I do enjoy drill max and the like so much. So I am just wondering how best to include these workouts regularly.

You can throw a circuit in there to replace a cardio and a weight day so your rotation could look something like this...You are still technically getting 3 weight work outs and 3 cardio work outs!

circuit
cardio
weights
yoga
weights
cardio

HTH!:)

I do at least one circuit workout a week. It fits in nicely with either a full body or split week as Wendy said to replace a lone cardio or weights day.

I like to use cardio/weight circuits when I don't have time to workout as much as I'd like, and can only get in 3-4 days a week. The c/w circuits are a way to hit both types of workouts and at least maintain. I don't do them on consecutive days, though.

I like weights-only circuits as good calorie burners. Doing a two-day split and a weights-only circuit in the same week is definitely feasible.

You can also alternate weeks of straight weight work and straight cardio, and weeks of circuits, in whatever proportion works for you (2 weeks of separate weight and cardio, followed by 1 week of circuits, for example).

I do at least 1 - 2 a week... it really helps the boredom factor with me. Today I did LIC, legs premix, abs, then threw in 10 minutes on my NordicRider.

Every Saturday for me. Drill Max got me hooked. I lift heavy at the gym 3X a week, do cardio about 5 times a week & core 2-3 times a week. Saturdays are my "shut in" days when I try not to leave the house--I want to spend time w/Max, recover from the week & take it easy.

So I start every Saturday with circuit, have lunch & take a nap. :)

I tend to use circuits whenever I need to skip a workout. For example, say I schedule a weight workout for Monday and a cardio workout for Tuesday, but I end up missing my Monday weight workout. I'll then sub in a circuit for Tuesday (instead of straight cardio). I'll try to pick a circuit that focuses on whatever weight work I missed (i.e. upper or lower body). Other times, I'll set up a rotation that involves a three day split (like Gym Styles), a circuit and a couple days of cardio. Circuits are so much fun; they are definitely worth trying to fit in.
