(((((((((Chinups)))))))))

Marcy - Hoping to attempt ITR on Saturday, if I can fit in a w/o (DS's bday party). I like ASC 3 better, could be because I am still tripping over my own feet with ASC 2. LOL! :p Actually I think I like the flow and the music better in three. Although Amy's choice of music doesn't really do much for me. I love Cathe's music much better.

Hey ladies!!

Marcy, I never could get dancers pose :p Good job on your w/o!!

Linda, how's the DOMS today?? I'll have to check the maniac thread now- curiousity is peaked.

I have decide to rest this evening and start back up tomorrow.

BIL is stable. He will be moving out of ICU this evening!

Have you checked out what's been going on in the maniac thread the past two days? It's weird, makes me want to get off these boards.

:confused::confused::confused:

It seems as though we have a trend on people with very low post counts starting crap around here. It makes no sense to me?? Why would someone specifically come here to start this crap up?

Catherine - Glad to hear the good news about your BIL. Have a great workout tomorrow!

Linda - Happy birthday to your DS! How old is he?

Marcy

Catherine - I guess they have no life!! Glad to hear BIL is doing good! As far as the DOMS, I don't thing I have ever had it in my back AND in my chest as bad as I have it today! That's why I skip Amy's ITR with the 8# med ball!

Marcy - DS will be 7 tomorrow!

Okay now on with the torture! Here's what I thought would be a fun way to start my day!:eek::p:p

Superset A
Pistol Squats
8/8/8 - **really trying to get stronger at these, but still need help at the bottom of the move, part of the problem, I think, is my poor hamstring flexibility.***
BB Bench Press
6/6/6 - 105# **up 5 #, increases will start to slow down now***

Superset B
Elevated RDL
8/8/8 - 120#
Spiderman Pushups
5/5/5 - each side

Superset C
Step ups
10/10/10 - 27's
Rear Delt Raises
12/12/12 - 12"s **up 2# and again no pain:D:D**

Superset D
Lying Tricep Extensions
5/5/5/5/5 - 20's
Bicep Curls
5/5/5/5/5 - 25's
***these were done with no rest inbetween, all others have a minute rest***

Then cardio at 45/90 ratio for 6 rounds running around the step & power 7's, then 4DS HIS minus the warmup!

Doing all the arm movements in HIS let me know just how much DOMS I have in my lats & chest. Chest work was really tough today because I still have a lot of DOMS from Wednesday and the warmup includes uneven pushups :p.

Now I have to spend the rest of the day getting ready for DS birthday party tomorrow! I mowed the lawn on Wednesday and power washed my back deck yesterday, neither of which is helping my DOMS :p.

Have a great day!

Marcy - BTW, which do you like better ASC 2 or 3?

Finally got in a workout!!! I did RS this morning and it felt good. I need to do chinups, but don't know when I'll be getting to them

Linda :eek: benching 105!!! WOW GF that's awesome. I hope your son's B-day party is the bestest!!

Marcy, what are you up to today?

Oh, I will be having dinner out this evening with a couple of old friends. It'll be nice to get away from the hustle and bustle!!

Catherine, great job on the workout, and don't worry the chin ups will be waiting for you! :p Thanks on the press, and that was 105 w/ DOMS, wonder if I could have done better if I didn't hurt! :p Enjoy your dinner, now I have to figure out how not to eat a ton of junk today & tomorrow!!!!

Did the Quick NRG premix from In the Ring today (33 mins.) I thought I pressed the premix right above it and was going to do a longer workout but didn't realize until halfway in that I was doing the wrong premix. Still got a good workout. The medicine ball intervals don't seem that tough at first but they really get to you when you do them in succession.

Got 3 new yoga workouts yesterday - Power Yoga for Happiness 2 (hope it's as good as the first one), Yoga Flow with Jennifer Lynn and Yoga Radiance. Can't wait to try them.

Linda - I don't have ASC 3; just her first two. But I've heard such good things about 3, it's going on my wish list. Maybe I'll be able to get it in a trade or I might wait until Deep Discount carries it. Does she have a power up section in 3 as well? I hope your son has a great party tomorrow and you don't get too worn out! 105 Bench Press is outstanding! I'm no where near that. Just fill up on protein before you even take a look at all the goodies you probably have planned.

Catherine - Enjoy your dinner. Don't eat too much! But I guess after the week you've had, you deserve a cheat day!

Have a great weekend!

Marcy

Sings Happy Birthday to Linda's son!!!!

Did B&Gs standing legs portion this morning. I got my Lauren Brooks KB w/o and have been playing with some of the moves. Not sure what I'll think of the w/o? Need to get the moves down first and then give it a go. I just don't want to give up my heavier training. Others have been raving over what KBs have done for them,.... So I guess I need to try it.

I really need to do some chinups,......

Marcy, whatcha up to today. Hopefully someone is hanging on to a bar LOL!!

Finally chinups!!

I had to get off my tushie and do some chinups. It was gonna become a mental thing. It's been 10 days since I've done any and I tend to weaken mentally if it's been too long. What I mean is I tell myself that I can't do them and my numbers suck. Well anyway I did unweighted chins 9,8,& 7. Not too bad. I wanted to do more, but I am pooped. I've been playing with my KBs and practicing swings and catches a little. After doing B&Gs standing this morning, I wonder if I'll be able to walk tomorrow

Zoiks!! Man do I have some lower body DOMs today (did B&Gs standing portion yesterday). I did B&Gs last week and didn't get this much DOMS. So I really think it was the KB swings that I was practicing. Makes me wonder what a full KB workout will do  Now I am askeered

I did PUB today. I havent' done that one in forever!! Did well, but the bicpes killed me. I had to drop my wt on the the last two sets. I am blaming in on the chinups from yesterday ;)

I hope you all have had a great weekend!!

Oh BIL is home and doing great! He seems to have full function and aside from post-op pain he's doing well!!

So Catherine, have we left you talking to yourself again? I am so jealous that you have KBs, I really want some. But I can't afford them or the dvd's. Oh and get number's on those chins, makes me realize I need to work harder.:p

DS's party was a huge success. Weather was beautiful (because we had it out side) and he had a blast. At the end of the day he asked if you could have a pumpkin patch party every year (our theme was Harvest Fest).

I was in no mood to workout this morning either. I finally talk myself out of bed in order to do the weight portion of my workout, but I blew off the cardio for today.

Superset A
Pullups
5/8, 3/8, 3/8 - first number is unassisted
Floor Press
8/8/8 - 42's (up 2#'s)

Superset B
Chin Ups
4/8, 3/8, 3/8
Incline DB Press
8/8/8 - 40's (up 5#, back to where I was and no pain:D)

Superset C
Inverted Rows
15/15/15
Decline Pushups
20/20/20

Lying Tricep Ext.
8 - 21's
8 - 16's
8 - 13's
8 - 11's
then another eight on the left arm at 13.

and that was more than enough for today!!!

Linda, glad your shoulder is behaving itself!! Nice workout considering you didn't wanna :D How'd your son's B-Day party go?

My chinup numbers wouldn't be there if I hadn't started doing the weighted chins!!! I was really hoping to do 10 in a row :( I think I have done that once???

I think I will be doing 4ds KB/BC premix this evening, but not totally decided.

Ms Marcy, I know you are out there chinning away!!!

But how do I start doing weighted chins if I can barely chin my own body weight?

But how do I start doing weighted chins if I can barely chin my own body weight?

Good ? I actually worked my self up to doing 5 sets of 5 unassisted. Then, once I could do that I added wt. About 1-2 pounds at a time. The goal still to do 5 sets of 5 but with the wt. When I can not get to 5 I do assisted with the wt. It really has helped. Keep going. You are doing so much really heavy upper body work, it may be hindering you chinning ability a bit. I do my chins on a lower body day or cardio day a couple of days after upper body work. So my upper body is not so fatigued.

Good Afternoon Chinsters!

I did 2 3/4 chinups over the weekend. My back started hurting me on Saturday so I decided to skip any chins on Sunday. Today was S&H Chest & Back and I didn't do any chins today. I forgot how tough Cathe's chest work is. I couldn't wait to get to the back exercises.

Bench Press: Set 1: 25.4#, 8 reps; 2: 25.4#, 4 reps and 23.4#, 4 reps; Set 3: 23.4#, 5 reps
Chest Flies: Sets 1 and 2: 18.6#, 8 reps; set 3: 18.6#, 5 reps
Incline Bench Press: Sets 1 and 2: 18.6#, 6 reps; Set 3: 18.6#, 7 reps (my right arm was really bothering me with these)
Incline Chest Fly: Set 1: 18.6#, 6 reps; Set 2: 15.4#, 8 reps; Set 3: 15.4#, 7 reps
Pushups

Double Arm Dbbl Rows: Set 1: 15.4#, 8 reps; Sets 2 and 3: 20.4#, 8 reps
Dbbl Pullovers: Set 1: 23.8#, 8 reps; Sets 2 and 3: 26#, 8 reps
Dbbl Deadlifts: Sets 1 and 2: 23.4#, 8 reps; Set 3: 23.4# had to rest after 4 reps and then finished the last 4 reps (so much of a difference from barbell to dbbls which I find harder)
Supermans: Did with 2# handweights
Planks: Seemed to go on forever but I held them all!

Linda - Glad to hear your DS's party was a huge success!

Catherine - Glad to hear your BIL is doing so well! I am also jealous of your kettlebells. I have heard so many great things about them but I also have a $$$ problem so that's on my wish list along with a bosu, Select Tech dumbbells, an original club step and plenty of DVDs. What size kettlebells did you get?

Have a great evening!

Marcy

Marcy - How come your weights are **.4#, and not just even? Also I tried ITR Saturday, it was fun but I was a little disappointed because it didn't seem to really get my heart rate up.

Linda - I had bought a new barbell set and I decided to weigh the plates and they were all .2# over what they said and I like to be accurate when I log my workouts.

As far as ITR goes, I think the more complex you get with the choreography, your HR doesn't go up as much. Once I get more familiar with the workout, I put more into it. My HRM isn't working right now so I can't compare workouts. I'm still getting familiar with the combos so I don't expect to get my HR up there at the moment. Although the medicine ball intervals are deceiving at first. They look easy but with the premix where she did them one right after the other, I worked harder than I thought I was going to.

I saw you posted whether Power Yoga for Happiness is good for a beginner. Yes, a beginner can use it. He has 3 levels - beginner, intermediate and I think what he calls the "green dot version of the pose" which is the more advanced. For example for crow pose, he'll say you can do "baby crow" which still has the toes of one foot on the floor. He'll also say things like "the grin on your chin is more important than your chin on your shin". You just do as much as you can. This is one of my favorite yoga practices. That's why I just got PY4H2. It's got 5 different practices ranging from 30 mins. to 80 mins. I would definitely recommend it.
