*****Chinups: Love 'em/Hate 'em*****

Hey gang! I am exhausted after a weekend at a conference in ATL. I think the drive is what did me in. I did workout today. This morning I did IMAX2 intervals 1-5 and this afternoon I did most of 4DS upper body premix. No chins or pullups for me.

Linda, we have been doing this chinup program:
http://stronglifts.com/how-to-increase-your-strength-on-the-pullup/

Briee, nice job on your numbers. I did a test to failure a few weeks back on chinups only and got to 9.5 on my first set and did 2 sets of 8 following that. So a nice improvement for me. I don't know if you read my issues with my new bar or not. But my numbers went down when I started using the new bar. It is wider than I am used to. I normally do my chins with hands about 12 inches apart. The new bar doesn't go all the way across (it's two handles) the space is at least 16 inches apart. I think that accounts for some of the difference. I still have the old bar and I will alternate where I do my chinups and pullups just for variety sake!

Marcy, darn x( I would have loved to have met up with you while in ATL. I didn't even think about you being there. I did meet up with Lorie, Jodi and Carolyn. They are a group of Catheites in ATL. You should post on OD about having a GTG with some of them!!

Joanne, I am still excited about your two in a row!!! We all knew you could do it!!

Hi Friends,

Couldn't get on the forums all weekend, having connection problem and the idiot at Verizon couldn't help me. Anyway on Saturday I did the blast only from Low Max Intensified, blasts only from LIC then the first step combo & blast and finished combo from LIS.

This morning was going to do some cardio since it's my rest week, but couldn't get out of bed. The left side of DD's head and face swelled up on Saturday, finally ended up at the ER that night until 2 am, got to bed at 3 am, then up for church the next morning w 6 hrs sleep. Yesterday, was my 12 year anniversary, went to lunch, then back to church, so no nap. So this morning I just could not get out of bed.

BTW, DD is fine, it was an infection from a tick bite. Her eye is still slightly swollen but she looks so much better. They did IV antibiotics in the ER.

Joann - Way to go on the chin ups!

Catherine - Nice to have you back. Thanks for the link. I'll have to check it out!

Wow Linda, how scary about your daughter. I am glad she is ok!! Hey what happened to your portfolio pics? Please share them :)

Today I did KPC and YES, I did the abs!!! I really need to do more ab work.

Tomorrow will be legs and chinups. Life seems so busy right now.

Hope you all are doing well!!

Morning Ladies,

Okay, I determined to eat right today so I don't feel like I have to get up and do some kind of workout tomorrow! I did not feel like getting up and working out at all this morning, but I decide I needed to do something. So I did LIC cardio, doing the blasts only twice then did the first three combos including the blasts, w/o was about 50 minutes. Original plan was just to do at least 30 minutes so happy I lasted as long as I did. But knee really just needs a break!

Have a great day!

Linda, your poor knee x( I hope it is better soon!!

I am having a doozy of a day. Decided to go to the bank at lunch (after a very busy morning) and was in a fender bender. After the police got his report I tried to turn my car on and got nothing. The battery was dead x( So I had to practically run after the policeman to stop him so he could jump start my car. I was not injured and am thankful for that.

I am not planning to workout this evening. I may do my chinups and that's it. Just not in the mood to do legs!

Well, lets just write off today. I did not w/o and will try to make it up tomorrow. My eating hasn't been the best either. Not terrible, but not good either. So I am officially writing it off :D

Hope you all are doing well.

Oh, Marcy, I saw a post on the ATL group thread addressed to you. I thought I'd copy it here just incase you don't see it there:

I just got an email from someone named Marcy and when I tried to respond I got a delivery failure message. Marcy, can you email me again at teresadavis at gmail dot com?

Catherine - Thanks for the sympathy! I am truely worried about my knee. Not sure it will ever be right again! Funny thing is it has gotten to the point where normal activity doesn't bother it, just working out or if I am rushing around trying to hurry. Oh and stairs are never good, but not real bad.
Sorry you had such a rotten day! How bad is your car? I am happy to say I did well with my eating, so I am taking tomorrow off! As long as I don't blow it between now and when I get to bed! Need to decide what I am going to do next week as far as lifting goes, clueless at this point.

Morning Everyone,

No workout for me today, but I did go out and work in my yard this morning for an hour before breakfast. I am redesigning one of my flower beds so this mornings tasks included hauling dirt and a lot of digging.

Hello chinsta's!! I have been utterly exhausted and I don't know why. I did All Step from CTX step and ab segments and chinups. I did 6 sets of 5 chinups today. Didn't feel like even attempting weighted chins. Oh and I ate a brownie today  I know, I know- shameful!!

Linda, I forget, have you had your knee looked at? I know how much of a pain it can be to want to do a certain w/o but can not x(

OK calling out Briee, Joanne and Marcy-report pronto!!

Catherine - Okay, apparently you and I have too much time on our hands. LOL! Anyway, I had a doctor at my GP office look at it, he told me to rest it for five days, but that's been it so far. It seems to hate exertion. Was in line at the food store today when I realized I forgot something. So I went fast walking through the store carrying DD and knee didn't like that one bit. Also gave me some good shots of pain while I was working in the yard today. I've also tried bumping my step back up to six inches, my knee really hates that! Try to decide if I should go see an ortho?

Afternoon Chinsters,

No workout again, enjoying my rest. But I was back out in the yard this morning for 1 1/2 Hours. Different flower bed, but this time just rake, hoeing and weeding. Will try to get back out later to finish it. That will require digging, hauling dirt and mulch.

Catherine - You're right I should go to the ortho, but he will tell me to stop working out and I am not ready to hear that yet! LOL!

Checking in quick and I briefly read a few things up there, but won't remember them all!!

Catherine.....you're chin numbers are incredible. I didn't know you were up to 9.5 a while back, must have missed that. You have advanced SO FAR!!!!!

Linda, I'm sorry to hear about your knee. I have one that bugs me all the time too and makes me crazy to contend with this while trying to work out. Mine started after running so much last year.

Joanne...how are you doing???

Marcy...all moved in????

Have a great day ladies....an extremely busy week is ahead and I've been in the Wisconsin Dells at a water park for the past few days. Missed you guys.

Briee

Hey Briee!! It's good to hear from ya!! The water park sounds fun. I hope the rest of your busy stuff is fun too!!

Those numbers where a one day test of my max reps. I am afraid I've had a back slide. I haven't done weighted chins in a couple of weeks. I will have to work hard to get back there again.

I just finished Step and Intervals from CTX and one of the ab segments from CTX (can not remember which one) Yes, that's right, I have done abs three times this week  I know you all are amazed :p

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!!

Briee - Funny you should mention running! For the most part I have always hated running and therefore never did it. But then....a few months ago I tried my first cardio coach and loved it! Then I was addicted. Now a couple months later...a messed up knee that has always been fine before. x(

That's just about my story completely Linda. I always HATED running until last year and became addicted and then my knees were shot. I contemplated running again as I got orthotics to try to help, but I haven't done so yet. After hearing about your knees, I'm going to think a while before jumping in a again. I still walk 4 miles almost each day (hard not to break into a run though!).

Briee
