Chinup checkin 04/24

Cathlete
I couldn't find one for today so here I am.

I had to let Briee know I ate donuts last night at Dunkin Donuts but chinups are for tomorrow's workout. Is the donut booster effect residual?

Hopes all you buddies are pulling up somewhere (except Debbie and Sooooooooooooosan, rest those injuries)

I'm going to work on them later today. I do feel like I am improving a bit. I like doing the jumping up/lower down a bit/pull back up method as that seems to make it more fun.

Soooosan-Yes, I do go biking often. Also, my knee has been bothering me and biking is the only activity that I can do until it feels better. And, you are right, I am not speaking to my friend anymore :)

Hope all the injuries are feeling better each day.

Joanne

Hi Melody, Joanne and all the rest!

Melody, I do think the donut effect is residual but (and correct me if I'm wrong, Briee, aka "Dr. Donut,") the boost is most effective DURING the pull-ups, hence the recommendation to thread them onto the bar.

Joanne, I'm glad you're improving and that you've found a way to make these horrible things (I didn't say that) fun for you. Good for you for not speaking to a lifelong friend because she can do them.}(

I just finished GSL which I haven't done in a while. It is such a thorough workout and easy to use dumbbells with, since holding a barbell on my shoulders hurts my dumb rhomboid. For upper body workouts, I'm going to just stick with bi's and tri's and see if those exercises aggravate things. I have such a hard time gaining and maintaing upper body strength that I hate to lose it in EVERY upper body part.

The weather is gorgeous here and I'm heading out the door with my kids! Talk to you later!:)

Hey Ladies. I was suffering from withdrawl from you all yesterday. No one was around x( Glad to see action today!!

Melody, did you save us some donuts???

Soooooooooooosan, I really hope your rhomboid heals soon. GS legs Oh My  the floor work is killer }( }( Oh I believe you asked what I was gonna be doing in Arizona. I am going for a conference for work. Will have some time to play. DH is also going and we plan to meet up with a friend for some hiking. So I am real excited.

Joannne (taps toe) still waiting for your report ;)

Today I did Muscle Max. My first Cathe wt workout in 3 months!! Uuugggghhh!!! I hate endurance work and this tends to lean that way. Although I do modify. But she goes so bleepin fast on those squats I can't keep up x( Well for the chinups. I did 3, 2.75 (nose level with the bar couldn't quite make it), 1, & 1. I did those during the MM workout - just took breaks Also did 3 sets of 4 10 ct negatives. It is really hard doing these within a workout that is not designed with them in. Or at least it is for me.

How's everyone else doing.

Oh and I got a new fitness book it's called Never Gymless. By Ross Enamait. He's the guy if anyone remembers the post that did the video of himself doing awesome moves like one legged squats, clap pull ups, etc. The book is based on body wt exercises. Visit his website if you didn't see the video. www.rossboxing .com

Catherine

Catherine, you are doing SO well with these! I can't wait to see how many you can do by summer. I'm not a big fan of endurance work either. I try not to go too long without it, though, cause it's a bear getting back into it. I copied a rotation posted by Debbie in OH (fitnessfreak366) in the Rotations Forum that incorporates strength and endurance in each workout. I probably won't have time to do it until the fall, but it looks great: http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?...opic_id=4650&mesg_id=4650&listing_type=search

I saw that clip of Ross Enamait and sent the link to some of my friends. That guy is unbelievable. Let us know how you like the book. HB, do you have this book?

Hey, where is Briee???? No doubt she's hung herself on one of those donuts on her chinup bar. Poor Briee,....

Catherine

Hi, just here briefly to tell Catherine I did not save her any donuts and also wave to all you gals.

I did GS CT and a core marathon yesterday and have cardio and yoga today. I was planning to do chinup negatives today and I have GS Legs on rotation for tomorrow and GS BSB Thursday. Question - should I do my chinup negatives on same day as other upper body work or on a day in between for best results? I just can't seem to decide when to do the things for my best effort.

Confused. TIA.

Yeah, Briee where are you? Here Briee, here's a donut....Briee?

I'm obviously no expert (since I can't even come close to doing one!) but my thoughts would be not to do them the day before or after an UB workout so as not to hinder recovery and thus muscle growth. I do them the same day as UB workouts, but I do notice fatigue comes more quickly when I do the workout. Could you crank a couple out before you start school and then do your UB workout some time later? I've also done them on cardio days, as long as I had not done UB the day before or after.

Awwww what a cute dough boy!!!!

Melody, I find it harder to do chinups on upper body days. But if I do them before the bulk of the upper body work it's not as bad. They are just hard no matter when you do them. I do think though if your other muscles are fatigued already esp the back and biceps then you will find it more difficult to even attempt them. Kind of what Soooooooooosan said already!!! Chinups are a compound exercise, using multiple muscle groups at the same time. You may need less upper body work just from doing chinups or negatives.

How do you feel after C&T this week? Wasn't that the one that put you into convulsions last week LOL??

catherine

Thanks for the chinup when advice. When I think about it the days I do UB if I do the chinup negatives after warmup, before weight w/o, I'm the strongest with them. Will do that, so now I've messed up my chinups and will have to hold off today....darn.

Catherine, the DOMS are not nearly as bad today after GS CT yesteday (2nd time) as lat week. But I do have DOMS, they are however tolerable this time.:)

Hi girls (oh, and pillsbury doughboy)!

No chin-ups for me...my upper back is still sore from Saturday. I'll be tackling them again this Saturday.

I will be stopping by for some donuts though!!!!

Hey Tammy. Still sore from Sat   Wow, don't ya love it when you've worked hard!!

I am still wondering where the heck is Briee? She's AWAL :p No doubt in a closet somewhere with her donuts.

Catherine

I think she gets offended when we don't call her "Dr. Donut." With all her credentials in donut physiology, psychology, etc., I frankly don't blame her.

Oh Dr. Doooonuuuuut, where arrrrrre yooooooooou?

Well ladies, I am off to Arizona. I will try to checkin some. Although I am not sure I will be able to do any chinups:-( Hope Briee shows up soon. I had another thought, perhaps she has a life, yeah a life outside of hear,...... nay. Seriously, hope everythings ok with her.

Catherine

Catherine, I hope you have a fabulous time and that you find a chin-up bar somewhere.

Sounds like Briee's had a lot on her plate lately. I hope that's all it is and she gets a chance to check in soon. Her posts are so much fun to read.
