((((Chinning On The Edge))))

This morning I fell back to sleep after the alarm went off and woke up a half hour late. So I managed 4 DS LIS/HIS Double Cardio.

No DOMS in the lats like I expected from those pulls, because they were really tight last night. I'd do more today, but they are part of tomorrow's workout so I think I will just wait.

Good Afternoon!

Today was yoga day. I did one of my new ones - Yoga Radiance. I liked it although it didn't flow very well. It's separated into 4 segments - Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter (50 mins.) and there's a 30 minute lunar sequence. I did all of the seasons. Liked Autumn and Winter the best. I guess because they were all different segments it felt really disjointed. But there were some really cool poses. I did well with dancer's pose today. She did Warrior 3 a few times in addition to Warrior 1 and 2 and reverse warrior. Also chair pose, twisted chair, forward bends and holding leg to the side while holding your big toe. There was a really cool move called Bird of Paradise:

which I have to work on. Also, headstand and side crow (which I was totally confused on). It's done via voiceover and there really isn't too much instruction.

Catherine - Great job on the chins!:D Good luck with your relative at the doctor tomorrow.

Linda - Good luck with the pulls tomorrow. My DOMS are finally gone so I might try some tomorrow as well.

Have a good night!

Marcy

Marcy, I am impressed with your yoga abilities. I really should do more yoga. I get on kicks where I do it and then I stop

Linda, so sorry you have no doms. Maybe they'll come tomorrow:)

I decided to w/o tomorrow and rest today. Hope it's not a mistake

Had a puke status workout this morning and real proud of what I accomplished!:D

Superset B
Chins

Superset C

Then did cardio at an approximately 20/40 ration for 8 rounds using 4DS BC, then combo 1 from Amy's ASC 3. Then I was out of time :p

Marcy - Your yoga practices are interesting, especially since I have no idea what you are talking about. I can not get into yoga at all!:p

Hi, Catherine!

I knew I should of worked out yesterday :( I have just not gotten motivated to w/o this afternoon.

I am thinking that I will give a go at Lauren Brooks KB w/o tomorrow. Oh and I foudn a KB trainier near my home(it's about 40 mins away) But I am seriously thinking of going for a few sessions to make sure that I have the form down.

Linda, great job on the chins and pulls. So you did 6 chins rested and did 8 more, I am impressed!!!

I think taking the kettlebell class is a great idea. I'd think form could be tricky and is really important.

And, no, I guess I should have wrote my chin ups differently, it was did six, rest the 10-15 then did two more to dinish the set of eight. It happen with the first set because after the six, I had to move my assist rig into place then it wasn't right so I said the heck with and just did the next two. It worked so I did it with the next two sets as well. Do you think that's okay?

Of course that's ok!! You did a great job. Your w/o are tough and never cease to amaze me!!

I have emailed Kettlebell Kate (the name is cheesey, but catchy) to see what is available for a newbie. I guess I'll see what I can find out. Meantime I will tinker with it a bit tomorrow and see how I do. I agree form is super important and I do not want to hurt myself. She apparently does some sort of functional movement assesment too- I think I could definitely benefit from that :)

OK, Linda I am gonna tap into your PT knowledge if I may. Like I said, I found a KB traininer resonably close to home. I emailed her. She has a begginer class. But I also asked about 1:1 session. She recommended calling her and talking a bit, but said a functional assessment and a 1:1 class would be a good way to start. I agree with that. I have major flexibitly issues and those are contributing to my low back pain. So I love the thought of having an assesmnet and some 1:1 time. I just don't know how do I know if she is reputable. What is a reasonable fee for an assessment? What do most charge for 1:1 sessions? I've watched her video on line and she is in excellent shape. She's also got a ton of experience. I don't see her certifications listed, except that she is RKB cert. Any advise you may have. I am totally thrilled about doing this, but want to make sure it's the right thing.

Oh, and here's her website if you wanna check it out:

This morning I did Amy's ITR through to the 4th interval. I did manage to work up a sweat and get to breathing heavy so I am a lot happier now with this workout.:D Would of been nicer if I could have turned it up louder but DH was still in bed. I guess the first time I did this workout it was the learning curve that was throwing me off.

Catherine
- I will check out her site and get back to you.

Catherine - Okay I checked out her site and the only certifications she list are kettlebell ones and not personal training. Not knowing what is taught as part of those certifications I don't know what to say. What does bother me is there is no mention of WHEN she received those certifications. How long has she being teaching? Now according to her brochure an assessment and some 1:1 is included as part of here beginner class sign up, but says nothing on what the cost would be seprately if you don't sign up. So she just may do those for free hoping you will sign up for the class or she could charge. I would think that the fee for the assessment should be on the nominal side depending on how long it takes, such as $15 for 1/2 hour or $30 for hour. But I am unfamiliar with the Gray Cook's movement screen, so I don't know what that involves. As far as a one on one session, an average PT will charge upwards around $65 for a single session. Lower if they are new or hurting for business. Now a trainer in high demand may ask for more. You know the rule of supply and demand. The area where the trainer is also influences the price. HTH!

Linda, thanks for your input. I also noticed that it didn't really say how long she'd been certified or actually instructing. I actually talked with her on the phone and she said the functional assess was included in her 1:1 session and if I understood her correctly she said that was @25/hour. I scheduled an appointment with her for this coming Friday. I figured at $25/hour what could it hurt. And her video is impressive. I know that doesn't make her a good trainer, but what do I have to lose besides my $25. And it may very well turn out to be positive.

$25 is not a bad price to pay at all. I've wasted a lot more money than that.:p Hope it works out well for you!

I'll feel it out and see. Who knows, maybe she'll inspire me to become a trainer myself :p Oh and if she's new (which I think she might be) no biggie. Everyone's gotta start somewhere. I really would just like someone to help with my muscle imbalances.
