((CHINNING IN THE NEW YEAR))

Is it near the iliac crest?

YES! The pain is at the top of the iliac crest like where a tendon might attach to the bone. It is not in the hip joint. That is why I thought maybe the obliques where they attach but could also be the hip flexors since I have upped my kickboxing along with kettlebelling. It almost feels like a tendonitis. I have a massage scheduled in a week so maybe that will help.

Thanks Catherine! Have a great day:)

Hi Linda!

JJ

Catherine - Great job on the suitcase deadlifts!

JJ - So sorry to hear about your hip. I've had those problems with my knee and my shoulder and it just isn't any fun.

Oh, I also have another client. The first one has knid of stalled on getting me her doctor's form, but this one looks all go for the the next six weeks. And it's a man!

Okay, now here is my workout from this morning. I did not feel like I had any strength. Today is day six and no sugar and I really think my body is going through major detox:p.

Superset A
Reverse Lunge
8/8/8 - 30's
Decline Spidermans (on perfect pushup handles)
8/8/7

Superset B
Pull ups w/ Knee-ups
4/4/4
SB Leg Curl
20/20/20

Superset C
AB Wheel Roll Out
10/10/10
SB X-Body Mountain Climbers (hands on ball)
10/10/10 per side
Straight Arm Side Plank
30 sec hold x 3.

Then interval cardio at a 30/90 ratio for six rounds going over step doing lunge back on each end. Then the stretch from Amy's A-Team Bootcamp and adding a few of my own. Workout was 1:16 and I burned 529 calories.

Linda glad to hear you have another client!! And a man at that. Now you can show him how it's really done:)

Well, I have officially started my "detox" But I am not going cold turkey LOL. I will still allow a little (emphasis on little) cheat here and there. It might backfire on me. I hope not. I am planning upper body this evening and may do some lower body kb work if I have time.

JJ, hope you had fun at the game and that your hip is continuing to improve!

Catherine - I haven't had any sugar but my eating hasn't been perfectly clean either, some pizza, a little high on carbs at times and a little high on fat others, but I figure I'll tackle one problem at a time:p Baby steps, right?;)

Good strategy!!!

Catherine - DianeSue posted this great link to a pdf file about Self-Myofasical in the maniac check in. I copied her post below with the link. It really is a great resource and incorporates the stick.

"I just found this downloadable pdf file at figure athlete. It is 47 pages of ART SMR Myofascial moves with the foam roller or tennis ball. It also shows some moves with the stick and suggests the use of a med ball for some. It is pretty good showing the muscle group diagrams and someone doing the move and explaining what tightness in the area can do to other areas. I put it on my desk top so I can make a copy.

Just thought I would share if anyone is interested:)"

Very cool Linda!! I have some of his other stuff. I will print this out. Nice to see him using the stick, which is what I use mostly.

Hi Ladies~

I started my 1 rep max testing today but felt my strength wasn't up to par. I haven't lifted heavy for a couple weeks as I've been focusing on kettlebells. I got in 20 exercises, 5 from each upper body muscle group and hitting the 5 stars first.

Linda~ Thanks for the link on myofacial release. I usually roll out my sore areas on my roller without thinking about it. I see that proper placement, alignment, degree of force etc.. are important to get the desired results.

Catherine~ I'm joining you in the "detox" plan. As of today, I cut out the booze, snacking after dinner, and drinking a lot more water. I'm hoping you'll keep me in line;)

JJ

Wiped out is the best way to describe how I feel right now, but it's in a good way  Just finished my w/o. Was weak with the chins though  Warmed up with 8kg kb halos, swings and figure 8

Chins:
4 sets of 4, 3 sets of 3 and 2 sets of 2 :(
Bench:
85# 3 sets of 8 (improvement over last week)
OHP:
12kg kb 3 sets of 8
(not sure where to go from here unless I go back to dbs because I'm certainly not gonna start routinely ohp 16kg )
Skull Crushers:
20 # 3 sets of 10 (improvement over last week)
Concentration Curls:
26.25 3 sets of 8

Fairly satisfied, except for the chinups. I ended the w/o with some lower body progressive stuff that Katie has me doing and a nice stretch!!

JJ, have you seen the kettlebell buddy at perform better? I am thinking of getting it to bridge with some things like that ohp. More $$ to spend though

I could not wait for my cardio to be over this morning!:p I did IMAX 3 and Cathe kicked my butt! Can someone please tell me why cardio that you do normally without too much trouble can all of a sudden send your heart rate through the roof and leave you gasping for air? WT...? Yesterday was the same thing. I don't think I am sick, I don't feel sick, other than a headache that has lasted three days now. :(

Okay rant over, workout was 1:10 because I added Stretch Segment 2 from Amy's Abs and Stretch and I burned 565 calories.:)

Oh, wait I do have another rant, I weighed myself this morning and according to the scale my weight is at an all time high? How in the world can that be? I have eliminated all sugar for the past six days! And if my weight were truly that high there is no way I would fit in any of my clothes! And if anything my pants have started to feel a little loser the past couple of days?Again WT.....?:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Proud of myself, managed to get up 30 minutes early so I could get in some stretching, now lets just hope I can keep it up.

Catherine - Guess you'll be getting that KB Buddy since they announced free shipping this morning!:p:D

Major upper body doms this morning after doing 1 rep max exercises yesterday. I alternated between muscle groups but still had to stop after 20 (5 per group) cuz fatigue was setting in. Still resting my hip so no cardio today.

Catherine~ I got the email from AOS about the kb buddy but I don't have perform better kb's. I tried attaching my platemate to my bell but it just falls off:( I really need to find something because the jump from 8 to 12 and 12 to 16 is too much for smaller muscles like shoulders.

Linda~ I wish I had an answer for you on the cardio thing but it happens to me too. A lot depends on how much sleep you are getting, if you are well hydrated, under stress, coming down with something, blah blah blah... But it can definitely be frustrating!

Thanks, JJ! I really did feel like I was gonna collapse today, I almost had to pause the DVD player! LOL!:p:p:p My heart rate hit 185 this morning! And if you are anything like me, let me just say Congratulations on the DOMS! I love it when that happens!:D:p:D:p

Linda, I have days like that with cardio. Well, I have days like that with weights too  I think it's just like anything else, there is so much that factors in. Maybe it's your carb reduction that has zapped your energy??

I am still undecided about the KB buddy. Maybe I will consult with my trainer before I spend more $$$ I have until the 13th I think. How ironic that I ask about it yesterday and boom, it's on sale with free shipping today. Was Anthony reading my thread :p

So I wanted to do something different this evening. I decided on P90X+ Interval X. Then I did some corrective strategies followed by stretch max. My eating has been good today

Tomorrow will be kb me thinks, just not sure what.
