Chin Ups Just For The Fun of It!!

Okay Catherine...what's up with the picture??? ROTFLOL - this is a chinning site and though one might think I'm becoming sympathetic to the yoga cause - I may have to resort to sabotage :p :p :p :p :p

(hey that kind of rhymed...yoga cause....sabotage. Okay so they don't x( )

Briee. (WAVES TO MELODY - get back here girl!! Did ya here I'm doing yoga .....sometimes. Now will ya stay???)

Good morning, Chinnies! You guys are really working hard on your chins! Makes me feel guilty because I do them so rarely. I'm ashamed to be in this chin-up check-in! (Actually, I'm not one bit ashamed :).)

A friend of mine wants to lose weight and has asked me if she could work out to Cathe with me for 30 days. I thought we'd start out with total body workouts (e.g., Push Pull) twice a week and easy-to-catch-onto cardio (maybe Step Heat, the non-impact sections of Kick Max, etc) and she could modify/use lighter weights as necessary. She's naturally athletic but hasn't regularly worked out in a while. What do you guys think? It'll mean dumbing down my workouts for a month but I'm willing to do it for her cause she's a great friend and I think it would be fun.

Sooooooooooooosan, I think this will be SO worth it for both of you! You are on the right track with workouts - my ladies liked supersets quite a bit, but some had a hard time balancing on the ball for some of the moves so I advised them to use the step instead or lay on the floor (ie chest flies). Show her modifications if need be. They had a harder time with power hour, just too much (I think LOTS of squats). They enjoyed KPC. They WILL NEVER DO BUTTS AND GUTTS again - I was told this last week accompanied by death threats if the name B&G is ever mentioned even in casual conversation. Cathe's step work is a toughie. We take it for granted. They are adapting to her kickbox quite nicely. I want to try bootcamp with them possibly next. Oh, but I did tell them we'd do a turbojam next Tuesday - don't know how this will go over, but I'll let ya know. I would like to know how your friend does with stepheat.

My ladies did KM last week and I had to lead the kids taekwondo class while they were doing it...so I don't know how that went over yet...will talk to them in two days. It's so much fun to do with others - I hope you have a blast. AND most of all...you are sharing your time to help your friend have a healthier happier life - the benefits are immeasurable!!! You go girl!

More thoughts for Soosan. I picked up 5 Beginner/Intermediate Cathe workouts on ebay a while back (really cheap) and I have never used them. I bought them intentionally for the ladies group, but have never used them. I just previewed them and there are some good beginner workouts - but they are not half as exciting as what we are used to. That being said...if you are interested...you could use them indefinitely if you want - I'd be happy to send them all to you. They are more basic, beginner/intermediate level, yet up to date, Cathe workouts.

They consist of Body Fusion, total muscle sculpting, total muscle stretching, high step circuit (48 minute beginner/intermediate circuit type workout), Total cardio step (basic step, low impact step, body fusion) and Basic step & Cardio and weights. Let me know!!

When was Briee's birthday??? You need to tell us these things, girl! I'm so sorry I missed it but hope it was great. Do you have a birthday fitness goal? Melody, you sure worked hard on that cake - must've taken you hours!

Briee, I really appreciate your encouragement about working out with my friend and appreciate even more your generous offer to share those Cathe beginner workouts. I might take you up on it after I see how my friend does with PP, SH, etc. (This is the friend who I said you reminded me of, in that you both will be remembered for how good you make people feel.)

Catherine and Joanne, are you getting psyched for the RT? You are going to have the best time!

Ohhhhhh you guys are so sweet - don't know what I'd do without you all!! Thanks for the BEAUTIFUL donuts Michele!!!!! My dd's Bday is tomorrow (she is turning 5) and WE ARE GOING TO PLAY THE DONUT GAME!! Although I am severely low carbing right now...so I may just take a LITTLE bite. :7 :7 :7 :7

Catherine...I'm sorry to hear that you are sick. Take lots of garlic and vitamin C and rest, rest, rest!!!

I finally feel like I'm back in the swing of things with regular exercise. Been a great week. Just came up from doing GS BSB and did LL yesterday. I was MORE sore from LL than I have been from B&G which just goes to show that you ADAPT. I haven't done LL in a LONG time.

Thanks again for the kind Bday wishes!! My goals....hmmmmmm. This is a great question Soosan. I'm determined to go to bed earlier and get up to exercise earlier like I used to....many moons ago. I need some time to think about my goals...I love to make goals - thanks for reminding me Soosan.

Briee-Happy Birthday! What day is it-I'm confused and it doesn't take much to confuse me!
