::: CHEETAHS ::: Welcome, October! (Monday)

Cathlete
Good morning, cheetahs! :D

Wendy :: I have one pair of 1.25 lb. platemates, so I'd like to get the 25#s and be able to increase that by an even 5 lb. increment for some exercises rather than buy 30#s, too.

Jackie :: awww, poor kitty!!...I'll have to check out EmergenC. I'm slightly sniffly but didn't take any Airborne this morning. I think I might have it in check...I'm with you - I would prefer about a 30-45 min. yoga practice.

Christine :: is the Magically Hips DVD chaptered?

OK, I think I'm caught up on personals. This evening will be Baron's Long & Lean for the first time.

Have a great day, everyone! BBL...

Good Morning Girls!

Cathy: Great idea for space saving! Those darned DB's get larger and larger and take up lots of space as they get heavier, huh? I'll have to keep that in mind! Thanks for the idea, girl!:) Can't wait to hear what you think of Long and Lean. Have a great day.

So I think I am going to use some of BBC this week. I am going to try something I haven't done since last year....I am planning on 5-6 days of cardio this week. I have been eating like cr@p and just feel like I could use the extra cardio push. It'll probably kick my arse since I'm not used to it and perhaps I won't be able to get through the entire week but I'll give it a shot!}(

This is what my week looks like but ofcourse...it is always subject to change!;)

M: BBC arms and abs + cardio
T: B&G + endurance run
W: BBC chest and abs + cardio
R: interval run
F: BBC shoulders and back + abs + cardio
S/S: Will be in A/C but going to try to run one of those days.

I am thinking of subbing in the CTX cardio for the non tm BBC cardio but we'll see what happens....

Time for more java!:9

Good morning Cathy and everyone to follow!

I was in my glory last night when I got home from work. I got to do step for the first time since getting hurt...YEAH, doing the happy dance! I wanted a little bit of everything but nothing too intense so I made my own little mish mosh of all of the step combos from all three IMAXs. It was just the ticket. I was going to go for a nice short run this morning but my rib is a wee bit tender right now because I banged it pretty good in my sleep. Hopefully I'll be up for a nice 5 mile run after work tonight.

Cathy - The obligation to enjoy goodies is tough and I appreciate the thought, however, this is what really irks me...the daughter HAS to watch her weight, and she knows it. They also know that both me and the other girl who works with me are very diligent (most of the time) about what goes in our mouths but they still bring this $#!^ in. I have very little to no willpower (I don't have an "off" switch like most people do) and it almost seems like it's an intentional sabbotage. GRRRR! That's a great high game BTW! That does sound like a pretty intense leg rotation...enjoy the DOMS :D.

Wendy - They are trying to get the money togther to start the women back up...we'll have to see. Nice little shopping spree you had there! I've been thinking about getting platemates but I just can't afford them right now. Ooh, purple, I'd be askeered }(!

Carole - WTG on the faster time! I wish I could bring a new kitty home but Nicholas is definitely an "only" cat and likes to stay that way! The funny thing about the snacks...I don't even like pretzels/snack-type food. I only ate them because they were there
x(. Good luck with the flooring project...ripping up carpet is not fun.

Christine - Poor Jimmy {{{HUGS}}}...it does sound like he's healing, albeit slowly. I'm a barn manager/horse trainer for a sale/show barn. He have hunters and jumpers, both horses and ponies...though I prefer the ponies. My pic trail has a few pics of some of our beasties from over the years. We've actually even had a couple of "famous" ones in years past.

Shelly - Thanks! I can't wait to hear about your race next weekend! Yeah, I imagine you guys probably end up with a lot of treats. Oh, thanks hon about the bowling. I had a good coach and access to the best equipment from the beginning thanks to my father...there are some perks to his pro status. My next race is Oct 28 and it's only a 7K...their website said 8 but the application is 7. I was wondering about study time for you, too. Your schedule is tough!

Jackie - Thanks! I hope you enjoyed your rest day. So sad about the stray kitty ;(. Oh, a nice warm bath after a hard workout will definitely help those legs out...sounds wonderful.

Lorie - How are you feeling girl?

Amy - I hope you are able to get your workout in today to start you off on a good week.

Waving "HI" to Judy, Kristi, Susan and Gayle!

I've got to get to work. BBL after my hair appointment...I'm in desperate need of COLOR! TTFN.

Good morning cheetahs and happy Monday! It's been a blissfully quiet night at work but I still have 3 hrs to go. I've had time tonight to study my ACSM materials and dream about leaving this job someday.
For anybody interested in my crazy race this coming Saturday, they actually have an organized web site for the first time. www.managainsthorse.com. I love the logo they have! This is an extremely challenging trail course so I'll be taking it easy and it will likely take me at least 4 1/2 hrs to complete.

Carole- I am so thrilled for you that you are getting your speed back with your long runs. :7 :7 :7 Chi running is definitely suiting you well! JC is a very cool name for your new kitty!

Cathy- Hope your sniffles don't progress to something worse! Baron Baptiste is one of the few yoga instructors I can tolerate. I'll be curious about what you think of this workout.

Wendy- You've got a real kick butt rotation lined up for this week.
The BBC Cardios are intense but short so I think you'll be fine.
Any special occasion for your trip to AC?

Today will be a fun (IMO) workout day. I'll be doing Amy's KBext when I wake up and later in the pm a good hour on the stationary cycle. Hello to all the fabulous cheetahs who follow!

ShellyC

Hi Wendi- posting at the same time this morning. That's great that you are stepping again! It must have felt so good when you finished!
I figured you would be interested in my race next weekend. It is unique to say the least. Endurance races are popular here out west.
My good friend enters several on her mule. This is the only race I know of that combines riders and runners on the same course... should be fun:eek: I not only have to navigate a rough trail but also have to watch out to avoid being kicked by a horse! I hope you get in your run this evening!

ShellyC

Hi Cheetahs,

Well, I have now been in bed since Saturday afternoon after the race. Yesterday was positively TERRIBLE! I am feeling a bit better today but that's not really saying much since I felt like death yesterday.

DF and I went to the health food store and I got some medications. This liquid cold medicine (it's called "ACF") that tastes like crap but I think it works (it's got tons of stuff in it and colloidial silver which is supposed to act as an anti-biotic). Also, some Emergen-C, and some ginger/honey tea and miso soup. I have used two boxed of Puffs already!

I am taking a sick day today and am planning on resting, resting, resting.

I will try to come back later for personals (promises, promises) but if today is anything like yesterday, most of my day will be spent sleeping. :-(

Good morning ladies! I see everyone is up and chatting away this morning already. I have a lot of catching up to do from this weekend so I will have to BBL with personals.

Today will be a 2-3 mile run. I want to try itread set 1 20 minutes again and keep my speeds between joggers and runners. The last time I tried this workout my mp3 player's battery died at the 15 min point. The next couple weeks will be a building process so my workouts will be relatively short. Today I am also staring to zigzag my calories again. My very sudden, literally overnight, 9 lb weight gain is not coming off even though I was not eating horrible at the time so it must be the new birth control pill, Yaz. In any case, it is time to get down to business.

I'll BBL for personals. Waves to all cheetahs in cheetahland!

Cathy - The Yoga for Happiness DVD (which had Magically hips on it) is chaptered, and chaptered well. He mixes and matches from the full routine (80 minutes) to get various other workouts (like Cathe's premixes). But you cannot tell you are doing a shorter or differently arranged version. I think his name is pronounced like the less exotic Ian. :+

I'm going to have to be short today, sorry. I have to get Jimmy to the vet this morning. He's not really getting any better, and now he's not really eating and he's got a nasty case of the runs (as I found out this morning at 4:30AM... Oh ick - not a fun thing to wake up to. Poor guy though. I hate seeing him like this.

I don't want to leave him alone this morning, so I'm going to do CCPP on my bike.

BBL with more personals!

Cathy – Sorry for the late response. I am taking Yaz. I’m hoping the weight gain will subside, but in the meantime I plan to start watching my caloric intake once again and zigzagging calories. Oh, to live in a world where you don’t gain any weight, but can eat whatever you want. Wouldn’t that be great! Any more weigh loss to report? Are you still liking WW?

Carole – Is the skunk smell gone now? Very interesting that the tomato juice doesn’t work well. I will have to file that piece of info away in case I ever need it. Great job with your Chi running.

Lorie – Sorry to hear you are still sick, but great job on your 5K. You still made great time even with the walk breaks. Enjoy your rest day!

Wendy – Congrats to your BF on her weight & inches lost. That is great. You are doing great with your PTing.

Jess – Great job on the 8 miles. Any races in your future? How’s the coaching going?

Christine – Are you feeling better? Sorry Jimmy is still in pain. Poor guy! Good luck at the vet office. I hope he starts feeling better soon.

Shelly – Do you feel ready for your race? You will need to tell us all about it. It sounds like a tough but memorable run.

Susan – I’m sorry to hear about your friend Mary. She’ll be in my prayers.

Judy – Good luck to your DH on recertifying!

Waves to Shelly, Wendi, & Jackie!!

Good morning Cheetahs!

Cathy - Glad you got your cold in check. Let me know how you like BB Long & Lean and how long it is. I like the sound of that one.

Wendy - I'm doing BBC this week and I'll see how it goes for next week. All of this running is doing a job on my muscle mass. I'll be glad to get back to my weight workouts.

Shelly - Thanks for giving us a look into the Man Against Horse website. Wow, they even have a 50 mile run. OUCH!! Wishing you lots of luck and good vibes with this race. Enjoy your fun workout.

Wendi - Congratulations on being able to do step! I can tell you got a real boost from it. Hope the ribs are ok and you can get in that run.

Lorie - Feel better. (((HUGS)))) Sounds like you have a good game plan.

Kristi - Good luck with your run today!

Christine - So sorry to hear Jimmy is not getting better. Hope the vet can ease his misery. The poor baby.

Amy - Wow, lots of colds going around. Feel better. Glad you were able to get a workout in.

I did a 4.5 mile steady state run. I started out with BBC Arms & Abs treadmill workout but changed my mind. The steady state was boring without Grace or CC to push me along. I did do about 20 minutes of the weight work from Arms & Abs and will probably finish it up tomorrow along with the leg workout. That Barry is just evil.}(

Hello to all others.

Have lots to do today. So, I'd better get back to work. Enjoy your day.

Jackie

Hi All!

I’m back. Jimmy went to the vet this morning, and it’s like I thought – he’s milking this. He has been managing to lick himself (even with the cone and collar on – he’s very agile), so the site is irritated. The vet put a bigger cone on him (I’m going to have bruised legs from him running into me!) gave me some antibiotics and told me to give him some Benedryl to calm him down. He’s back at work with me. I swear, my kids were less work! :+ I did CCPP on my bike. I love that workout.

Cathy – enjoy Long and Lean – I like that one. Might do it tomorrow.

Wendy – Sounds like you have a great rotation planned! Enjoy your cardio! I like the CTX cardio – I think that’s a great plan.

Shelly – How much study is involved in the ACSM course? Your run sounds like an interesting one! Is it a full marathon? With your speed if you need 4.5 hours to run it, I know it’s a tough one! I’ll be cheering for ya! I hope you beat ALL the horses!

Wendi – Way to go on the step workout! I’m like you – if it’s in front of me, I’ll eat it. Where I work, the company stocks the kitchen with all sorts of goodies – granola bars, chocolate, licorice… I have to walk by it really fast, especially the Special Dark Nuggets! If I eat one, I’m a goner. Hope they stop doing that! Sounds like you are doing the job I dreamed about when I was a girl. I still love horses, but I don’t ride anywhere near like I did. I do have bad memories of ponies. :+ My cousin’s pony Midnight, took me through an electric fence one time and it got me at my neck. But, I survived and even was back on him the next day.

Lorie – sorry to hear you are not doing any better! Hopefully the medicines will kick in soon!

Kristi – Enjoy iTread 1 20 minutes! How frustrating to have your MP3 die at the 15 minute point! Hopefully the weight will start to budge soon! Give it another month as your body gets used to the hormones.

Amy – oh YEAH! GO PATS!!! As both Jimmy and DH will attest to!

http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1308/4836116/10006168/278683249.jpg

Jackie – yeah, Barry is evil, isn’t he? But I love the workout! Good job on running the boring 4.5 miles!

Hi to all who follow!

Interesting side note:

This past weekend Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia set a new Marathon world record in Berlin. His time was 2:04.26 which surpassed Paul Tergat's old record by almost 30 seconds. For those that are wondering that is a 4:45 min/mile pace!

What's really bad is that I would LOVE to run a half marathon in that time! Amazing!

>What's really bad is that I would LOVE to run a half marathon
>in that time! Amazing!

You and me both, Christine!:)

Christine - ROTFLMAO! I feel the same way too! I would love to run my next HM in 2 hours. Wow, a 4:45 min/mile! That would be awesome to run one mile at that pace, but 26... Truly remarkable! His feet must have had wings attached.

Kristi,

Having recently run 10 miles in just under 2 hours, I find your HM time to be quite impressive for a first HM! I won't be able to do it that fast! I am figuring on coming in around 2:45 myself.

Wendy - Thanks! Don't sell yourself short. I wouldn't be surprised if you bettered my time. My time really isn't that good. I took 5 walking breaks because I underestimated the first 5 miles of intense hills. My legs were fried by the finish line and my quads were starting to cramp up. I hope to redeem myself next April. I'm positive you will do great! I'm really looking forward to reading your race report.

Well, I'm back from my run. Only 2 miles, but itread set 1 20 minutes is a great workout. I can see where I can grow alot with this workout. Hopefully after a couple weeks I will notice a difference.

It's done! BBC arms and abs including the non-tm cardio is history! WHEEEE!}( Holy cr@p that cardio is an arse kicker! I did it once before quite some time ago and only did the first round cause I thought I was gonna die! This time I did both rounds but STILL thought I was gonna die!:7  :7 I had to modify a bit but I made it through. I'm so proud of me. :7 :7 :7 :p

Kristi: Well I'll tell ya, I am training just to finish. My average pace for my training runs is between 11 and 12 mins per mile. I am running for 5-6 minutes (a half mile) and then walking for about a minute and that is how I plan to run the HM. Towards the end of the race if I somehow find some extra energy and decide to try and forgo the last one or 2 walking breaks, perhaps I will but other than that it's gonna be SLOOOW and STEADY! LOL

Off to shower and do a little housework before it's time to make supper.

Toodles until later, Taters!:)

Hello ladies,
Sorry about being MIA the past couple of days. I just needed a break to take care of things around here and to be there for my friend. She is actually doing a lot better, thank god! Her staph infection is still serious, but they think that have a handle on it and that is will go away within a few more weeks of treatment. It will most likely come back though, but we have to take one day at a time. Her radiation is now delayed until the staph is gone. Thanks again guys for all your warm words and prayers. It definitley helped:)

I did drill max on Saturday and LIC upper body and abs. I did yoga and BM2 cardio blast on Sunday. Today, I am doing GS ba, shoulders and biceps. This will be my first week going heavy in awhile. I am only going to do 3 cardio sessions this week. We will see if I can actually do it;-)

My hip flexor is sore. I think it is from the kickmax leg conditioning drills. Those really got me, OUCH!!! So, I am taking a little easy on the running until that heals. It is always something:)

Well, I am off to tackle gymstyle. See ya later gators!

Am happy to report I’m still feelin’ full-force DOMS in my tuchus!!!

Wendy :: That *is* some tough cardio on BBC…great job!

Wendi :: I hear you. I do sometimes eat things just because they’re there. (But I am becoming more conscious about this b/c of WW.) One thing I have done to avoid the food traps at work is that I stopped going to the bridal and baby showers. I still contribute to the gift, but I just don’t go to the event. Too many temptations.

Shelly :: I love the graphic of the race logo…I didn’t realize you would actually be running side by side with the horses/mules. Wild! This wins the award for Most Unusual Race, hands down!!

Lorie :: Hope another full day of rest has you feeling better. Sounds like you were hit hard. Don’t sweat the personals. Rest up!

Christine :: thanks for the info on Yoga for Happiness…That Jimmy is nobody’s fool, is he? But I’m trying to imagine him with an even BIGGER cone on. *lol* ...Yes, when I ran my HM, the elite runners (e.g. Bill Rodgers) were already done the full.

Kristi :: I regret to say I’m up 1 lb. this morning… Admittedly, I went over 2.5 pts. for the week, which is maybe 180 calories (not a whole lot), BUT there’s also a PMS factor at play, so I’m not beating myself up just yet. I am still liking the program and am glad I did it. It’s what I needed to be focused on my goals and become much more aware of some mindless eating I was doing.

Amy :: sorry about your cold. I don’t have any of Leslie’s workouts.

Jackie :: Barry *is* evil. In a good way. Hope you got everything you needed to get done today.

Susan :: Thanks for the update on Mary. So, that’s good news the infection is under control. Whew. Please do keep us posted when you can…Those KM drills really do getcha in the hip flexors. I was doing that as an add-on fairly frequently and eventually the flexors didn’t bother me as much.

Wonder where Carole is today.

OK, I need to whip something up for school tomorrow and then it’s off to get Long & Lean!
