:::CHEETAHS:::Tuesday

I finally got out of my meeting and back home by 9:30PM or so, ate some leftover supper and went to bed. Slept pretty good, but we got quite a storm that went through so we were up a few times to check the weather channel. We live in the country so when storms hit we don't hear any sirens from town or anything.

Tonight DS and I are baking a birthday cake for DH. We also have a football meeting for parents for DS. He is in 5th grade and they are starting a tackle football team that will travel and play other towns so we have a meeting to see what it is all about and what kind of shoes etc. he will need. He's very excited!

I'm headed down to my office in the basement when I finish this to rework my rotation for the rest of the month and "Just Do It". I know I will feel better once I get moving again.

Have a great day everyone!

Marcia.

Good for you Marcia! I am proud of you!
Happy b-day to DH! Have fun baking that cake! :)

Good morning to all Cheetahs! It is a beautiful sunny day in Boston and I was up at 5AM. I did a 30 minute outdooor run at the park. I know I need that Garmin watch for the mileage.

Can someone tell me how this Garmin actually works? Once I get it, I put it on my wrist and then press Start? When I am done running, I press Stop and it will tell me how many miles I ran? Is that all? :) Thank you so much for any input for someone who is rather slow with the technology! ha ha!

Welcome to Laura!!!!
A little about myself for Laura and a refresher to other Cheetahs!:

My name is Amy and I am going to be 30 years old. I ran over 10 years ago in Cross Country for high school and I just picked it up again this past June. I have always loved to workout at the gym, but this past Jan of 2007 I bought my first Step and Cathe DVD. I have been hooked ever since! I canceled my gym membership and just do Cathe. I really wanted to get in shape for my April 2007 wedding and Cathe did it for me! She is my workout inspiration. I am an elementary reading teacher, and love kids to pieces! But I would love to go for my Primary Group Fitness Cert with AFAA and also get my Yoga Kids Cert too! This will give me some options for work - when DH and I decide to start a family and just maybe I won't have to work full time. I am working on distance running so that I can run in some fundraiser road races. I have one coming up in Sept that will support the families of September 11th. This is a 5K race! I can't wait!

Thank you for letting me share! :) I just posted a few pics up on Picture Trail too (finally figured it out!!).

Take care Cheetahs! Off to another 10 hour day with the summer program kids. Tiring but good cash. :)

I was going to do Kick Max today, but seem to always put that one off! Very hard! BUT - it is on my list for this week's workouts.

Amy

Good Morning ladies -

First I wanted to thank everyone for the Birthday wishes!! You ladies are simply too sweet! And thanks for thinking of me on the road trip. Wish I could have been there with y'all. Sounds like quite the experience! Did Cathe give any HINT as to when the new workouts would be released?

Marcia - you're going to become a football mom! How sweet! That sounds like fun. I love watching the games.

Amy - Wow - you're a busy lady! Congrats on your recent marriage. Enjoy your summer program! Yeah, those blasts in KM are killer.

Today is Pure Stength Back and Biceps followed by Spinervals Zoot Challenge. I'm trying to keep my cardio to minimum on days I'm not running and any leg work is done on the day I run. My downfalls previously when training for this half included trying to do too much, and doing leg work and then running on sore legs. So, I'm trying to work around that.

Have a great day everyone!! I'll be back!

Good morning, cheetahs :)

Marcia :: That’s the spirit! Go get ‘em!!!…and happy b’day to DH. :)

Amy :: once you program your Garmin with your height, weight, and preferred settings, it is as simple as pressing start and stop, yes. If you get certain models, you can also track your HR with it and upload the information to your PC. The basic information all models will give you include: distance, average pace, best pace, time elapsed, and calories burned. IMO, it’s a must-have for anyone who runs regularly.

Laura :: welcome! Glad to have another teacher-runner among us!! :)

Wendy :: so will you be trying out one of the new iTrains today?

Susan :: SO sorry to hear about the lost luggage…that stinks!…Hope it’s been recovered and all is good again…I am busting out laughing at your descriptions of the RTers…you *all* have a great sense of humor…No surprise that Shelly would be the speediest in the shower, too! *lol*…Thank you for your kind words – that’s funny because I was thinking that YOU have beautiful eyes and hair and look so long & lean. I can’t imagine you feeling like a moose around anyone! But I agree - Wendy is the hottie with the body!

Jackie :: you’re lookin’ buff, buff, BUFF! That looks like a nice, shady course. Thanks for sharing w/ us…I’ve been lucky that the migraines I’ve had recently have not been too severe. Knock wood. Enjoy today’s run.

Christine :: I *think* the RTers said September for the w/out release. How do the legs feel today?

Good morning Cheetahs!

Today will be a CC workout, not sure which. It depends on how much time I have during lunch. I'm hoping for maybe CC #3, but if short on time then #1.

Now time for some personals.

Jackie - I can definitely understand not running a 5K at 7 pm with it still being so hot. It is amazing how the temperature dictates our workouts sometimes. That is why my running is indoors most days. I'll actually be glad when summer is over. Bring on milder temperatures.

Marcia - Good luck setting up your new rotation. Happy Birthday to DH!

Amy - Great question about the Garmin. I want to know too. I'm thinking of buying one for my birthday. I'll be keeping an eye out for the answer to your question.

Laura - Welcome!

Here is a little bit about me. My name is Kristi and I will be 32 next month. I'm the Mom who dropped her son off for Kindergarten yesterday. :) I have 2 beautiful kids, Alexander (age 5) and Annamarie (soon to be 2). My DH and I have been married for 10 years. We were high school sweethearts. I live in Kentucky and have been running for about 2 years now. I ran my first half marathon this year (April) for the Derby. It was an eye opening experience for me. I learned so much, such as how I should have be training. I've been working out with Cathe since before DS was born (7 years). While pregnant with DS I lurked on the forum, but did not join the forum until after DS was born. So I've been around here 5 years. In addition to be a mother and wife, I also work fulltime for an advertising agency as an asst office manager. I've been there 10 years. I love my job, most days.

Anyway, enough about me. Sorry I wrote you all a book. I'll try to be back later after I decide what workout I will be doing during lunch.

Waves to all the Cheetahs!

Cathy - legs feel surprisingly good today. I went pretty light on LL. My 30 pound barbell felt like nothing because I'm used to going a lot heavier after PLB. Odd how that works. I just did not want to totally fry myself. Guess I need to up that weight!

Kristi - Are you going to do the Derby Half next April? Yeah - I agree with you. The first half teaches you how to better train for the second. Although I'm not sweating this one. If I walk some, I walk some. Enjoy your CC - I love them all!

I have a friend who is on a Hawaiian cruise right now - there was an earthquake on the main island and there's a hurricane heading towards the islands (expected to miss, but it's a near miss). Last time he was in Hawaii, the big earthquake happened. I'm getting the feeling that the gods of Hawaii don't want him there. LOL.

I also wanted to correct a slight misconception. Jimmy will be training with me, but unfortunately, he is not allowed in the actual race. So, he gets all the work, and none of the glory, poor furry guy!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I enjoyed all the RT stories myself. There was just so much funny stuff besides all the hard workouts. But the scrapple, just got way outta hand! The GTG in Dec works for me, but a later date probably would too. Did you move that desk by yourself?? Sorry about the migraine...hope you still got in a nice evening with friends.

Marcia...Happy B-Day to your DH. Good luck with the rotation.

Amy..your picturetrail pics are wonderful, thanks for sharing...:)...Good job on the outdoor run. I hope you have fun with the kids today.

Wendy..good job with LIC yesterday. I have to say it would have taken a bit more than a few Ultras to get me out there with the dancer!! And I did forget to tell you..the hard work has definitely paid off for you. You for sure are a hottie and look great! Good job on the iTrains. I got a free one once, it was a good one.

Christine...so when is that RNR Half?...:).. I have to say the Spinerval "Zoot" challenge made me smile, funny name! Are you doing a PS rotation? yes, I am thinking your friend might try and avoid Hawaii for some time.

Kristi..have fun with CC today.

Susan...I am so sorry about the luggage getting lost. I know of us 3 you were very worried about it. I hope you got it yesterday sometime. My flight landed about 10:41, but the 2.5 hour drive home was tough as we were both falling asleep! Hey, no telling secrets!!!...;)...Great news your ITB did not hurt thru the RT. I bet the girls and your DH missed you. Always nice to get back home. I missed the Calif weather!!

Shelly...sorry about being called in to work early...:(..so you breezed thru GS Legs??!!...wow! As we were talking about endurance versus heavy weight. For my upper I have decided to try endurance one week and heavy the next alternating weeks and see how that goes.

Laura...welcome!! I have run about 30 yrs myself. I am 48, married without kids. I have a dog and a cat and some other barnyard pets. I have been self employed as a manicurist, for the last 17 yrs.

Jackie...you look awesome in those pics! Yes, the RT is something I will cherish forever. Enjoy your run today.

I ended up doing Amy's APX upper yesterday and 40 min on my EXT. Today is PLB and a 4-5 mile run.

Have a great day

Morning:) I'm excited to say that it's almost 8:30 and still cool enough to run so I'm going to try and be quick and get out there for 5 miles. Slept like cr@p last night, not sure what's up with that but I find if I'm tired I tend to eat poorly, I'm determined not to do that today. My baby turns 13 tomorrow:eek: and I will officially be the Mom of 3 teen girls (13, 16, 18)  Can't believe she's so big so fast but, as we know, the Baby is ALWAYS the Baby:)

Cathy, things at the new job are going well so far despite the fact that some finishing touches have yet to transpire. Ya know, little things like A BATHROOM DOOR!!:+ We don't have the debit/credit machine yet so I've got some accounts receivable out there which has not happened before and makes me antsy to get the accounts resolved. I love the space, have done some decorating and given it a lovely, calming feel. I wasn't 'allowed' to put my own charts up at the other clinic so I'm very pleased to have my Trigger Point and 'muscle man' charts up.

Shelly, so I was spot on with my perception of you as a ham:+ I feel the same, I would love to be able to sit across a table with you and others in the Cheetah pack to share some stories and laughs.

Marcia, so I won't be the only Cheetah enjoying B-day cake this week:9 :) It's such a good feeling when our kids are excited about new ventures and challenges.

Amy, yes, I do love my cuppa jo:) Got some delish dark roast going right now and it's perking me up quite nicely. You sure are the early bird putting in a long day. Nice that you got to 'play' early and get your run in.

Christine, happy belated birthday. Hope it was a super happy fun day for you.:) I, for one, am not a patient womand and I want my new workouts NOW!!!!!!:+ :+

Kristi, thanks for the personal synopsis, it's nice to get to know a little more about you. I've always admired women who give up their lunches to work out. Takes a lot of determination and commitment but it's easier for us 'addicts'. We don't just want to get our exercise fix, we NEED it:7

Carole, glad you got home safe and sound. You must have felt completely bagged with the excitment and adrenaline of the RT then travelling so far home. You must have been one of the RTers who travelled the most miles to get there. LOVE the pic of you and Cedie!

Had a nice compliment yesterday. I massaged the other massage therapist at the new clinic. She said she loves weight but hates cardio and is carrying about 30 extra pounds. I told her I didn't start running until my early 40's. Her head snapped around to look at me and she said, I thought you were in your 30's!! I said, 'nope, I'm 45'....she couldn't believe it. There's another reason to love my room at the clinic, the lighting takes of about 8 years:+

Have a great day Cheetahs.

Take Care
Laurie

Good morning Christine! That is too bad that Jimmy can not run in the race with you. What a cute picture that would make! Yes, I do plan to run the Derby HM again next year. My DB is running it again with me. I would really like to run a HM by myself though before then, if I can get my mileage back up there before then. I think I might incorporate some walking into my HM too. Good luck with your training.

Good Morning Folks!

I slept in today so I don't have the time I usually have in the morning to laze around and post. I'll have to make this one short and sweet but ya know I'll make it up to y'all!:)

I am up for a run today. ITread no doubt. I was thinking of trying out the new one I got...the interval work out. At first I didn't think it would be appropriate for my HM training but now I am thinking it will be EXTREMELY appropriate! If I am right, then great! If I am wrong, then oh well but I'm sure I'll still have fun, right? :7 :7 :7 This work out is only 35 mins long so it'll be a nice short run today. Nothin' wrong with that!

Okay...off to get myself and DS movin' so we can get to the gym before the daycare closes!:p

BBL!:)

Good morning everyone!!

Wendy - I did the iSculpt lower body section with Mimi. I like the exercises she does but her counting was off to me. The last exercise she didn't work both sides equally. But, hey, it was free. Did you try out the new iTread?

Marcia - Happy Birthday to DH. Hope the workout makes you feel better.

Amy - You are getting out early for your runs. Hope the 10 hour day is not too tiring.

Christine - Sounds like a good plan for your running and weight training. What a shame that Jimmy won't get to participate in the race. We had a small crowd for my 10K. That's probably why the dog was allowed to run. Anyway, you'll have fun training with him. Hope your friend is ok while he's in Hawaii.

Cathy - Thanks! The course was only shady at the finish. It was sunshine the rest of the way. What was your workout today?

Kristi - I'm looking forward to some cooler temps for running too. Love my treadmill too. How did DS do on his first day?

Carole - Thanks! Enjoy PLB and your run today. I ran in my shirt from Target Saturday. Loved it! Glad I bought more than one. May race in one Sunday. Thanks for the tip!

Laurie - Must be nice to have cool mornings for your run. I was awake at 2:30 am. What's up with that? Happy Birthday to DD tomorrow. Nice compliment from the other therapist.

I did CC #1 for 3 miles, iClimb #3 20 minutes and Baron Baptiste Yoga Abs.

Enjoy your day everyone!

Jackie

Good morning Cheetahs.

I had planned to go for a 5 mile run this morning, but ended up not getting to sleep until 3:00 am. I use to suffer from panic attacks and haven't had one in years. But they came to visit last night.
My husband is out of town on a golf trip so I don't think that helped. My 17 year old son was still awake at 2:00 (Laurie with her 3 teens can probably relate:)) and hung out with me until I felt better. I'm going to try and run today since that is usually what keeps them away.

Kristi- Is your son still as excited for his 2nd day of kindergarten? They are so cute at that age. It is why I love teaching 4 year olds. I have an Alex as well and my daughter is Amy.

Amy- What a great job to be a reading specialist. The elementary kids usually are so eager to learn.

I am off to a parent meeting for my daughters Cheer leading team. It takes so much work, I'm not sure who is on the team:).

Have a great day and I look forward to getting to know you all,
Laura

Hello again! I've fed the dogs and myself and now have time for a cheetahfix before I work out. Today was going to be my long run but I've been called in to work due to an emergency situation so I've shuffled things around a little. I ended up doing an interval run instead of an EXT workout yesterday. I also did Cardiofusion... hooboy! I worked off that jetlag:7

Susan- OMG I can't believe they lost your luggage!!!! Did you get it back today?

Laura- Welcome to cheetahville!!!! We are so very happy to have you join us. I'm sorry you are dealing with a panic attack.... not fun:( I think running is an excellent therapy for this and I do hope you get in your run today. Do you run in races? Any planned in the future? I am the granny in this bunch... 50 yrs old, no kids, just an assortment of dogs and cats and a husband who acts like a big kid;-) I love doing anything physically challenging and have a reputation for being somewhat crazy. I am a critical care RN and work nites 7p to 7a. I am currently training for my second marathon in Las Vegas Dec 2!!!!

Jackie- I love your pics!!!! You have a hot bod there girl!! That race course looked so beautiful with a winding path through all those trees:) My DH hasn't told me to shut up yet when I carry on about the RT. So far he's been tactful and just tries to change the subject ;-)

Marcia- I feel so sorry for you being so overwhelmed with your busy work schedule! I hope you can find the motivation to get back on track soon..... we're all behind you!!!

Amy- Don't worry about operating the Garmin. It will come with pretty easy to follow instructions. If I can figure it out with my poor old swiss cheese brain anyone can! When do you start up with your teaching again?

Christine- Chris did tell us last Friday nite that the new workouts would be out in Sept most likely but didn't specify exactly when in Sept. I have frequently made the mistake of overtraining for a race. I'm really going to try to play it smarter and back off some,
not an easy thing for me to do;-) Have a great time spinning today!

Kristi- So how did your DS like his first day of kindergarten? He must be a very social outgoing little guy to not have given you a bit of separation anxiety!

Carole- I like your plan of alternating the weeks of endurance and
heavy strength. I think I may do the same rather than focus mostly on endurance like I have been.

Laurie- Wow, a mom to 3 teenage girls and you still are so positive and enthusiastic    Your girls must be something! That must have been quite an ego boost to get that complement, but I highly doubt that it's due to the lighting!!!!!!

Wendy- Hi cutie! An occasional interval workout is certainly not going to hurt and I think is beneficial in any race training, even the longer ones. Go with what feels right for ya! Your progress over the last 1-2 yrs has been absolutely amazing!

I guess I've babbled enough. Time to get moving and do some sweating this moring. It'll be GS C&T today :7 :7 and an hour on the EXT:7

Love, Love, Love ALL the new avatars with photos of the Cathe Crew!! Too cool!

Carole – The Rock ‘n Roll Half is October 14th. It’s a flat course – which is nice. And afterwards DH and I go to Gordon Biersch to earn back those carbs with a good beer and watch some football! :p I actually ended up doing Have Mercy 2 (the 30 minute tempo set, but will do Zoot Challenge on Thursday. Zoot is a sportwear manufacturer in Hawaii and the riders were all sponsored by them. It’s a fun, quick workout and very different. Enjoy PLB. I really like that one.

Laurie – Oh no! a 13 year old Baby Daughter!!! But, oh yeah, the baby is always the Baby! Happy Birthday to her!!! Hopefully you can avoid eating poorly. It’s a challenge for me, too, if I sleep poorly! I’m with you on the workouts. I want them NOW too. And I think it’s your hard work and healthy habits that make you look 35 instead of 45. Way to go Laurie! You sexy mama, you!

Kristi – I’ve actually heard that running 5 minutes and walking 1 is easier on your body. I may try it. We’ll see. So weird to be thinking of training again when I was flat out determined not to do it. Go figure!

Wendy – Ahhh, the wonders of sleeping in! I’m sure you needed it! I think interval work is very important for a HM. I like to run 3 or 4 days a week with one of the ones being my long one, one interval or tempo training, and the rest steady state shorter ones. Good luck!

Jackie – Yeah, I think there is somewhere around 15,000 people running through the streets of San Jose. Not a good time to have dogs around. He would love it, though. Well, tomorrow is another run. He looked disappointed this morning. Poor little guy. Nice workout!

Laura – sorry to hear about your panic attack! Those cannot be fun! Glad your DS17 was there with you. I have an DD18 – so yeah, I, too understand the 2AM thing. Hope you get your run in, and I hear you on the cheerleading. This is the first time in four years we’re not “cheer parents”, and while we’re looking forward to the freedom from practices, etc. I will miss the football games.

Shelly – ROFLMAO on the Carole photo. I could not imagine sharing a room with you, Carole and Susan – it must have been a riot!! I have met both of them, so I know. I just need to meet you! I sooo know what you mean about over training for a race. I’m trying to be smart, too. Could be a challenge as I’m not that smart normally :+. Enjoy GS C&T and your EXT workout.

Susan – did you get your luggage?!

Laurie – If I don’t workout during my lunch hour then it just doesn’t get done. I need that exercise fix to relieve normal day to day stress. It makes me a happier person.  Fortunately my boss lets me come into work ½ hour early so I can take 1 ½ hours for lunch. I wish I could get up early to exercise. 6 a.m. is the earliest, but that only allows times for me to get ready for work and get the kids ready for school and daycare. I guess I can’t get up any earlier because DD still gets up anywhere from 2-5 times a night. Last night was 5. What a nice compliment you received! You must look so young from all of the exercising you are doing. I think I read somewhere that exercise keeps you looking younger. Maybe I’m making that up, but I’ll take that answer anyday. Happy Birthday to DD tomorrow. You do look young for having 3 teenage daughters. I hope I look like you do when my kids are teenagers.

Jackie, Shelly, & Laura - To answer all of your questions re: DS’s first day of school. His first day went very well. If anything he was disappointed that I could not pick him up from school like his friends. Instead he goes back to the same daycare he has went to since he was 8 weeks old. Most of his friends no longer go there. Anyway, he loved his first day so much that he eagerly wanted to go back today. Let’s hope he keeps that positive attitude. I’m sure he will just for the social aspect. Alexander is my social butterfly. He never meets a stranger. In fact, I even have to tell him to be quiet in a movie theater. He is always complimenting other kids on their attire. Must be because I let him wear whatever he wants if he is good, but if he is bad then he gets to wear a “boring” shirt I pick out for him.

Shelly – Great pic of Carole! I’m sure everyone at my work was looking at me weird when I started laughing.

Laura – Sorry to hear about your panic attack. Hopefully running will help alleviate those from occurring very often.

Laurie...I think my Mom loves referring to me still as the baby!! Thanks, I was happy to get a pic with Cedie. The weather was quite muggy in NJ, so I enjoyed our much drier heat! Great compliment you received that you truly deserve.

Wendy...enjoy the run today.

Jackie...So glad you liked the target shirt. I splurged and got quite a few shirts for the RT so now I am well dressed. Nice cardio and Yoga ab workout.

Laura..sorry about the panic attack. I rarely sleep well when my DH is out of town.

Shelly...how did I know you would post that pic!!! You made me do that you know...:)..Have fun with GS and the EXT today.

Christine...maybe I will talk to my DH about that RNR half. He does watch Football with me occasionally, and having a beer after a half sounds fun. Thanks for the Zoot info, it is just a funny word...:)...aren't you happy you got to see that pic of me twice??!!

Kristi...I am smiling that my pic made you laugh out loud...:D

PLB standing is done and I went for a 5 mile slow run. Happy as I lost about 2 lbs on the RT. Gotta start somewhere. Might even squeeze in Bodymax 1 later as I am feeling like a Shelly workout today...:)

Hey guys! As my usual self, I only have time to post a quickie again today. Kids are actually with my mom, seeing The Simpsons, but they're due back ANY minute and I've been in the kitchen trying to use up all of my tomatoes! LOL

This morning, early, was GS Legs & GS Shoulders. I played with the idea of going for a run while my mom had the boys, but the tomatoes were just CALLING my name (not to mention that the heat kept me inside, lol).

I had to order a new walking/running belt for my treadmill. I'm DYING to get this thing up and running again! This better be the fix for it, or else I may just buy a new one! YIKES!

Gayle

Oh my goodness we are talkative today!

Christine- Happy Birthday (late) I hope it was a lovely brithday weekend for you :)

Hi Laura! I will introduce myself. I am Judy, a 46yo SAHM married to my high school teenage sweetie for just about 24 years. Cathe workouts have been a mainstay for me since 1998. Running has only been in my rotations for the last 18 months consistently. I enjoy Golf in the summer and tennis indoors fall/winter/ spring. My youngest son plays competitive hockey, so we travel often with him.

Hi Wendy- I'm thinking that intverval workouts will be more helpful than hurtful in small doses.

West coast 'RTers'- Welcome back to cyber space! We missed you and I really wished I could have met you !

Susan- What is the luggage update?
Hi jackie!

Laurie- I understand you position with teens. We have 3 of ours home this summer. Well DS just turned 20...

Shelly- The comments about you are just as I imagined- sweet and full of energy!

This morning was BM2(Power Circuits and upper body) followed by a round of golf. I just found out our course is 4.5 miles if the ball it hit straight! I do not hit straight. Just for fun, I am going to wear my Garmin on my next golf round to see how far it actually is to walk. Plus pushing my bag in a speed cart is a workout on the (MANY) hills!

OK I need to make some Chicken Parmesan and Tofu steaks Parmesan for dinner, before I pick up youngest DS from Hockey camp.
