RunninTeach

Cathlete
Good morning, everyone! :)

Gloria :: hope you a had a great run yesterday!

Judy :: I don't mind Mondays, either...I did not watch the awards, but how exciting for DD23!

Wendy :: good job just rollin' wit it this weekend...*lol* I don't know about feeling like running another 20 after crossing the finish, but I was tempted to keep going beyond 20 this time, for some odd reason. *lol*

Christine :: Awesome photos! Looks like a great time. Feels like we were right there with you. Wow on the ocean views.

Carole :: I truly did NOT hate every second at all. I think practicing some visualization during the week as I have been doing and just having the right mind-set is working for me. Hope your mom gets her appetite back soon. I imagine the PT is hard work! Ugh on more fires & smoke! Not what you need.

Jackie :: sounds like a lovely time at the open house.

Linda :: I think doing 18 was a mental turning point for me. I know the 6.2 after the 20 will be the hardest part, but I am just very sure we CAN and WILL do it, regardless of what it looks like or how slow it goes, in my case. It's gonna get done. I will be picking up more Power Bars on my next Target run. Hope you enjoyed your day off.

Karen :: glad you enjoyed your birthday weekend. Can't feel any guilt for those indulgences. You're entitled! :)

Well, yesterday became an unintended rest day. I went to take a 20-30 min. refresher nap at about 6 pm, with the intent of working out at 7. However, I didn't wake up from it. Oops! *lol* But it's OK. Body musta been telling me somethin' there, so I'll just go with it. Mileage is what's important now.

Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning!

Cathy: You must have needed the sleep. I was in bed by 8 last night. Have a great day!

Judy: Very neat about DD23! Hope you had a nice Monday!

Wendy: It is great to have the survivor stories. I am adjusting to a new schedule too, it is hard at first.

Christine: Thank you for sharing your riding experience. Beautiful pics! Did you hear Lance is going to do the Tour de France in 2009?

Carole: Glad mom is doing ok. Hope the appetite returns. Maybe it is just a little stressful being in a new environment. She will probably eat more when she is used to her new surroundings. Just a thought I had.

Jackie: Nice the open house went well! Gifts too? How thoughtful some people are!

Linda: Fall is so nice. I am not a football fan, but always had fun tailgating in college! :)

Karen: You deserved the little splurge, that is what is so fun about birthdays! :)

I am thinking a ME premix or something today. It will kill me since I haven't done the weights in a while. Enjoy the day ladies!

Goooooooood morning ladies!

Well, the invasion is just about over. My mother and grandmother will leave sometime this morning after I head out the door for work. All went well and it *was* nice to see everyone again...probably been more than a year since I saw my father's mother and my aunt.

Ate lotsa yummy but oh-so-not-good-for-ya stuff...thank goodness I actually got some workouts in ! Yup, you read right *lol*. Did 4DS BC and KB cardios on Sunday and got out for a nice run yesterday. I was planning on going between 4 and 5 miles but ended up at 6.5....ooops! My HRM went wonky on me again and I lost track of how long I had been out so I just stopped when I felt like it *shrugs*. I thought that I'd be paying for that little goof this morning with some monstrous DOMS (since I'm sooooooooo out of running-shape and was feeling my buttski all day yesterday:confused:) but I'm not. I'm going to head out for a little "recovery" run today...probably a shorty around 3-4 miles.

Thank you all so much for your kind words and support regarding MK. It means more than you can know. I feel truly blessed to have you ladies in my corner....{{{{HUGS}}}}.

I really have to get crackin' here if II'm going to get that run in and get to work on time this morning. I will be back tonight with lotsa personals, I promise! Have a terrific Tuesday ladies!

Good Morning Friends-

personals first:

Wendi- I have been checking in sporadically and so am unaware of a MK situation, however, if a hug helps you got it! (((HUG))) Visits with older family can be dangerous to our eating choices for sure!

Cathy- The rest day was probably a good idea! How are your new students adjusting? My kids are pleasantly (IMO) swamped with homework!

We had some unexpected family visitors yesterday. My DB, who got in the big car accident in NJ, came up to buy a car.
After much research, he was able to get a significantly better deal on a new 08 here, than in NJ. ( hey Wendy, Shelly and Cathy there is an excuse to get you to western NY... come to buy a car when it is time!!! Save money and visit:D) We ended up going to Bonefish for dinner with the family. For us that is a good choice because I can get some decent fish with a side of veggies and a salad and I am set.

After some cleaning I ventured outside for a 6 mile hilly run (time 57:30). After all these great run reports I was motivated. My foot was fine for about 2/3 of the run. When I got home I was strict about rolling and icing throughout the day. It did get inflamed but I am gaining on it *I hope*. Today will be a total body workout. Probably a Cathy endurance one.

We are still adjusting to our school day routine, but it is coming along. Today I will take a ride to my in laws to pick up some peaches and apples they picked. yum! so fresh! There is nothing better than a western NY apple in season!

Good Morning Girls.

Cathy: Yeah, I agree that you must've needed the sleep. I was in bed early last night myself. Don't feel guilty about it. After all, Cheetahs in the wild sleep far more then we do!:p So are you going to begin tapering now or do you have another long run on tap yet? I am clueless about tapering. I really need to learn about it before I start training!

Gloria: The last time I decided to do ME on whim (it had been a while since I had previously done it), I ended up with a killer case of full body DOMS so watch out!:D

Wendi: (((HUGS))) I must apologize to you my dear. I now recall reading the sad post about MK but somehow I think I inadvertently missed responding to you that day. My bad. :( Anyway, I pray that she leaves this world peacefully. Just like with my BF's mom, it is time for her to go. It's very sad but is what's best for her at this point. I'm sorry this is happening. ((((HUGS))))

Judy: Great job on the run. Yes, BF can be a good choice for dinner if you order your fish plain. I went there very recently and did NOT do so well. LOL about the car. We will be in the market for one next year. I will tell DH that there are better deals up there!!!:D

I am a bit achey this morning. I feel as if I did a full body work out y'day since it's more then just my legs. I truly hope I am not getting sick.:( I haven't been sick *KNOCK ON WOOD* since before the summer! Perhaps I slept funny....Let's hope so. :)

Today's work out is yet to be determined. I am trying to figure out the best days to run this week. Once I do that I will know better what I am doing. I am tempted to do upper body and abs only today and run tmrw, thurs and saturday but we'll see. That' treadmill can be powerful you know! LOL

Off to get that second cup of java and start getting DS' lunch packed up for school!

BBIAB!

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Carole – Oh yeah! I love the fall! I’m so ready for cooler temps!!! I’m bummed about Brady, but I’m also thinking it may be for the best for DH – I don’t know if he could handle another year where they go 18-1 (with that 1 being the Superbowl!). I watched the Raiders last night. Ouch… Seems like we’ll need to do some commiserating this year. Glad you mom seems better, but I hope her appetite increases.

Jackie – Congrats on the successful Open House. Definitely a better idea than a house warming as they tend to go on forever! :p

Linda – I don’t get when people don’t keep their dogs close. I’m all for free play and such, but letting dogs run loose is a disaster waiting to happen. Hope you enjoyed your day off!

Karen – glad to hear the birthday was great!!! I’m with you on the 30’s being better than the 20’s. A little hint – the 40’s are better yet!! So that’s something to look forward to! You’re supposed to eat horribly on your birthday. You’ll so better today. :p

Wendy – I think you would love California. Do come out to visit some day!! I enjoy Bocce. I play it once a year, but our new condo has a bocce court, so maybe I’ll play more. :p I love L&G – great endurance work!

Cathy – I am so happy your long runs are enjoyable!! Love your idea about visualization! Do you have one more LONG run in your future, or are you happy with your 20 miler?

Gloria – Well, there are rumors that Lance is back. I have mixed emotions about it. I’d for him to not be 100% at the top of his game. I hate when athletes come back only to do poorly. Glad you enjoyed the photos! Enjoy ME!

Wendi – Oh, I’m glad you had a good time with your mom and grandmothers! How fun! Great job at getting workouts in, too!! Enjoy your recovery run! Glad to have you back!

Judy – glad your DB was able to get a good deal with you! Good job on your run! Hope the foot continues to improve!

Man, my legs are still toast from L&G! Not as bad as yesterday, though, so that’s a good thing! I’m not sure what I’ll be doing today. Maybe some fun step. Maybe I’ll break out ASC3. I’ll see. Have a great day all!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I think the right mind set will definitely make a difference in the long runs, as you proved..:)..Mom has never had a huge appetite, but being bedridden probably takes away any appetite, so after some PT sessions I bet she will get more of her appetite. I have a theory about PT's (they are sadistic!) I think rest was probably needed yesterday for you. I agree about the mileage being most important now.

Gloria...it could very well be the new environment for Mom's appetite. I think things will get better slowly. Have fun with ME (love Cathe's laugh in the bicep section!)

Wendi....glad you had a nice time with your company. You did a good job on getting in your workouts. LOL about "buttski"...:D..Enjoy your short run.

Judy...always nice to hear about good car deals. A little research always pays off. That is good Bonefish worked out good for you. I have been a bit leery about eating out since using Cathe's nutrition program. Good job with the hilly run!

Wendy..I think they will get a handle on the fires today. LOL about the food in re-hab! There was some kind of indistinguishable vegetable thing yesterday! Looked like corn and something green...yuk, no wonder Mom did not touch it..:). Enjoy whatever workout you decide on today...:)

Christine...I am sure I have been in DH's shoes before with a team! I still feel for him about Brady. I enjoyed the Packer/Viking game but as for the Raiders...I did not make it through the 1st quarter. Too many new guys and no communication will not work well IMO! However I did enjoy another fav team the Cowboys on sunday...:)..Thanks re my Mom. I am sure her appetite will be back. I hope you enjoy a fun step workout today.

Linda...Don't even worry about the GS/4DS mix-up!! I have done the same thing myself...:)...The good thing is the temps cooled quickly yesterday. And this morning is a bit brisk...Hopefully they will get a handle on the fires today. Thanks re my Mom.

Well I woke up about 3 AM, got out of bed about 3:45, watched "The Closer" & "Raising The Bar" that I tivoed last night. Hopefully I can get in a nap later. I am doing legwork, and a mish mosh of IntervalX+ & PlyoX.

Have a great day...:)

Oh Dear Carole 3am! I hope you do get that nap in later! have fun with your mish mosh

Wendy- If you do come up to buy a car you have to stay with us! Maybe DH will pay in the lilac tournament at the same time. How long is Joey's school day?

Well today's workout is complete. Since I want to really exhaust my muscles, I did L& G and PUB chest, back, shoulders. Tomorrow will be PUB biceps, triceps and abs and cardio on the bike then yoga class.

Carole - sorry you got up so early!! I hate when that happens. ITA about the teams. And seriously, things eventually turn around! Enjoy your workout today!

I ended up doing BOSU Blast and the abs at the end! Wow! Fun workout. I know it's pretty repetitive, but it's a fun one. The abs hurt my abs... :D Enjoy everyone!

Judy...I am sure a nap will come later...:)...WOW, you really did exhaust some muscles today.

Christine...I hate this early thing too. I have been sleeping good lately so that helps. Good job with the Bosu workout. Nice to torture those abs...:)

Got through my workout...wasn't in the mood for intervals but once I got started then it got fun..off to do some housework...:)

Good morning Cheetahs!

Christine - Love your trip report and the pics! Makes a girl want to take up biking. Sounds like an awesome time was had by everyone!

Karen - Glad you had a good birthday. You're still a spring chicken too. ;) Hey 56 won't be bad either. ;) I can relate to the too much sugar. My cake was so good that I had a couple of pieces.

Carole - We're never satisfied. Always trying to improve. But, what fun would it be if we didn't try. :) I received 3 very pretty vases, a wine glass and decanter set, candle holders, bread & fruit basket, a kitchen towel set, a serving platter & ice bucket set and lots of gift cards and some cash. It's amazing but I can use everything and everything matched some of my decor. Temps are still hot there. It's cooled off some here and we're getting more rain. Sorry to hear about more fires. Glad your mom is continuing to do well. Is she asking about smoking?

Wendy - How will you ever make it without a nap? Hope you adjust soon. Joey still liking school as much as his mom?:p No getting sick, no getting sick! Just keep repeating that. :D Maybe that cup of java is what you needed.

Cathy - You practiced some visualization to get you through your 20 mile run? Congratulations on doing that, BTW!!! I'd like to know what kept your mind off those 20 miles. Yeah, body must have needed the extra rest.

Gloria - You must have needed some rest too. Yes, it was really nice of people to come with gifts to the open house since it wasn't necessary. A few told me they wouldn't dream of not getting something. Guess you can look for some good ol' DOMS after your ME premix.

Wendi - So glad you enjoyed having your family this weekend. Good job sneaking some workouts in there too. Hope you had a good run!

Judy - Lots of great deals up your way, huh? Like the no tax on clothes compared to the 10% we pay here. Great job on 6 mile run!

Christine - Yep, the Open House was definitely the way to go. Since I'm not a drinker and didn't have anything in the house, didn't have anyone lingering around. Enjoy your workout today.

Today's workout was a 3 mile tempo run and 30 minutes of yoga.

Gotta run! IS is still trying to migrate my files to my new computer. Enjoy your day.

Good Afternoon. Taking a lunch and a break from pounding my head in the wall trying to convey singular and plural possesive nouns and posessive pronouns.

This morning was a 5 mile run. Felt really tired but I didn't sleep well. Carole and I could have watched TV together since we were both up.

Very quick personls. I have to get back to the drawling board or should I say blackboard.

Cathy- Your nap sounds like it was just what you needed. Sorry you missed the workout but the way your runs have been you needed the break.

Gloria- Enjoy the workout you pick

Wendi- Great job on the runs you have been doing.

Wendy- did you make up your mind what is on tap for the day. How did Joey do yesterday?

Judy- Great job on you hilly run.

Christine- So your abs are killing. Love that. I read that Lance entered a 100 mile bike ride over the summer and came in second which made him want to do the tour again. Got his juices going again. You never know how true it is but he is competitive.

Carole- Sorry about the sleepless night. Had one myself.

Carole - glad you've been sleeping! That does help. I've noticed that since I've been pushing harder, I need more sleep! Enjoy your housework!

Jackie - You should go cycling with me! That would be fun. Enjoy your workout today! Sounds like a good one. :D

Karen - Lance entered the Leadville 100 which is a tortuous mountain bike ride through some of the high country in Colorado (Leadville is the highest town in the US at 10,000 feet elevation). It's supposed to be one of the toughest rides in the country. I'll bet it did get his competitive juices flowing again! I also read that the team he was supposed to ride with is denying that he's riding. I think we'll have to wait until the dust clears to really figure out what is going on.

Today turned out to be another one of those days.
My mom's oncologist called and said they need a second opinion on a issue they see on the second CT scan they just did. She went to see her surgeon (who removed her breast) a month ago with the first CT scan and he said they were to keep an eye on the lesion they saw. ( pancreas) .He wasn't too concerned. Now since out visit the other night at the ER where she has a second CT scan and they noticed a significant change in what they saw earlier. Now we wait. Her lymph nodes are swollen too.I swear I'm going to lose it. It really is one thing after another. I hope it is just a cyst and not cancer. I don't think it's cancer since they just did a PET scan and saw where the bone cancer was. I don't know. With her kidney stones the way they are she could have an infection and that could be why the lymphnodes are swollen. Anyway I won't know anything until Monday when she sees the surgeon again. If I drank this would be the time but I don't so I will run. Karen
