::: CHEETAHS ::: Thursday - thirstin' for DOMS!

RunninTeach

Cathlete
Hola, cheetahs!! :) :) :)

It wound up being a long day for me yesterday, so I opted for an unplanned rest day and will do a double today. Just finished KM Low-Impact Timesaver and will see what the weather’s doing this afternoon after my chiro appt. It’s raining now, so we’ll see. If it’s warm enough, I'll opt for a run. Otherwise, it'll be indoor cardio of some kind.

I’m short on time this morning but some quick personals:

Lorie :: Great first run post-illness. That was a serious bout of bronchitis (and sinusitis) you had there. But I don’t think it’ll take much longer for you to be back in top form…I think you are not alone in being hard on yourself. I do that, too, at times.

Judy :: hope you enjoyed your run. Sounds like a FUN NYC shopping trip you had.

Wendi :: I’m feeling almost 100% again – thanks! So does dad live nearby?

Christine :: the way you keep dropping weight, woman, your pants must be falling off! Have fun shopping!…I’m the same -- I won’t run in the dark and or if it’s a cold rain. I used to but not anymore. (I also didn’t cross-train w/ any other cardio then. It was all running, weights, and yoga.)

Wendy :: did you wind up getting in a w/out last night? How are you feeling?

Carole :: I think I googled the term “ugly woman.” *lol* Any post-LL DOMS today?…Awesome job with your sub-10 5-miler yesterday.

Susan :: the cold is on its way outa and I'm feelin' good :)…I am supposed to get an allergy test now. *lol* Enough with the tests already. Thanks for asking :). How was shopping yesterday sans the kiddos? Find any nice fall sweaters? I’m a sweater girl myself.

Shelly :: how’d the kids make out at the vet?

Kristi :: glad you beat that migraine.

Sunny :: great workout! Sounds like the swimming's going, well, swimmingly. :p :7

Jackie :: oh yes, I have those weeks! I think I’m having one right now. Never heard of What I Want Fitness. How do you like it? Hope you feel well-rested today. I went to bed early last night.

OK, I think I got everybody from yesterday. Off to put wet hair in a ponytail and jet outta here.
Have a GREAT day, cheetahs!!

Good Morning Ladies :)

Cathy- Isn't it great to be able to have a pony hair day once in a while? I a got crazy in the sprig and got a shorter style that does not allow for pony's and I miss it on busy days. Good job on KM Timesaver this morning.

Carole- Yahoo! on your sub 10 minute miles! I am not sure about laminate floor cleaner, but DBrother works for Proctor & Gamble and recommends Mr. Clean for just about everything. I will be switching to Mr. Clean for many surfaces.

Sunny- In case I never said so, congratulations on getting your PT career off the ground!

Jackie- You are doing two HM's in two weeks?

Wendy- How are the viral symptoms today?

Shelly- How many 4 legged kids are a part of you family? (We have 3 black cats and a black and white stray who uses our kitty door and eats our food!) Thanks for mentioning LM yesterday. I am undecided on a moderate cardio today before yoga and may slip that in.

I have a moderate cardio ( before tomorrow's longer run) on tap and yoga. The yoga will be later, because we are getting our mirror installed in the workout room mid morning! It is the last part of work out room renovation. Then we will do some wall decorating :)

Hi Cathy, Judy and all who follow.

I feel okay right now except for the ickiness in my throat that clued me in to my getting sick in the first place. I ended up running a low fever last night so I canned my work out. I will see what happens today. If I work out I think it will be some kind of circuit. I am bagging the BBC rotation for this week since I won't have time to get it all in now.

BBL girls!

this morning i did bbc arms and abs and shoulders and back with both cardios. before you say anything, I CAN EXPLAIN!!! here is my rationalization for doing two again: since bbc apparently gives me incredible doms, i rationalized that even if i just did arms and abs i would be really sore and my upper body would probably be too sore to do shoulders and back tomorrow. so...i decided to make my (probable) rest day tomorrow really worth it. it actually wasn't that bad *yet*. the cardio in arms and abs is REALLY tough...probably the toughest of the bunch (again with those dang burpees!) but the shoulders and back cardio wasn't too bad (not that it was easy). i really feel like the weight exercises are very effective. i will definitely be adding barry to my weekly workouts! although, i hope in time i don't experience the serious doms i experienced before and KNOW i will be getting again (i can already feel my upper body!).

cathy-everyday is a pony tail day for me. if i am going to wear my hair straight, i have to blow it out which takes extra time. my hair is kind of wavy, a little curly and i can get away with just letting it air dry. once it does, though, it can get a bit frizzy so i always have it up by mid-morning. i would rather spend my extra time working out than drying my hair. i can go from sweaty to showered and ready to go in 20 minutes.

judy-i am SO jealous you are getting a mirror in your workout room. i have a great room in the basement. it has my treadmill, elliptical, and a weight bench. i only use it for the machines because i like doing all my dvds in the living room. well, i told DF that for my birthday (next thurday), i want him to finish the floor (with the puzzle mats), arrange the basement (so it will fit everything), and basically make that whole room into a gym (we already have a tv down there but we need a dvd player). also a place to hold all my free weights, dvds, etc. i am so excited. he does have a bit more work to do because we had a leak down there last year and had to remove two peices of sheetrock from the wall and he is going to hang new sheetrock, paint, etc. not too much fun! anyway, maybe i'll have to ask for a mirror as well!!!

ETA:

wendy-we must have been posting atthe same time! definitely don't work out if you don't feel well!!! i only made myself sicker when i did that. just rest and take it easy.

Good morning Cheetahs!

Well, the rain held off this morning so I was able to get a nice 10K run in. It felt good to get my legs moving this morning as I still have some wicked DOMS in my hammies for some reason. They better loosen up for tonight, though, because I'm planning on bowling if the rib feels up to it. Now that I've finished my run I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for the rain to start soon. Rain means short day means I can play hookie and go to the mall and continue sweater hunting! That's why I'm stalling this morning, hoping for the pitter patter of those lovely raindrops :7.

Jackie - 2 HM within 2 weeks   ! WOW!

Cathy - I'm so glad you're back up to speed. I'm sorry it ended up being a late work day for you. It sounds like you've got quite the workout schedule today. My father moved to Florida with his new wife (who he was having an affair with) a few years ago, right after my parents separated. I only hear from him if I initiate the contact. Although, he did actually send me a birthday card this year. He's kind of a non-entity in my life now.

Judy - You must be so excited about your workout room renovation! My workout room doubles as my living room, unfortunately :(.

Wendy - Please do take it easy! Look what happened to Lorie :p...JK!

Lorie - I *love* your rationalization for killing yourself today LOL! You're too funny. I'm so jealous of all you guys with "workout rooms".

I'm going to wander around the boards a bit. Hopefully I'll BBL. Have a great day everyone!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...hope the rain holds out for a run for you later. Nope, not any DOMS from LL. I will have to increase the weight amount. Thanks re my run...:)...

Judy...thanks, it felt good to get the 5 miles under a 10 min pace! I did some searching online for the floor and seems most popular was a microfiber mop, that you could use wet or dry. And the Swiffer hard wood floor cleaner. Luckily I found both at Target so I don't have to order anything online...thanks for your input. How exciting! Your workout room is getting close to done...:)

Wendy...sorry you are feeling yukky again. Maybe a rest day is a good idea and lots of Airborne!

Lorie...both Arms and abs AND Shoulders and back??? WOW...I understand your reasoning but holy moly...you are in for some killer DOMS tomorrow...but that is a good thing right?...:)

Wendi...I'd be happy to share pics when we are done...hopefully this forum will still be running by then...LOL!!!.I have never minded running in the rain unless it is flat out pouring or it is windy and rainy. Good job on getting in the 10K this morning! Well then, I hope it rains so you can shop...:)

Shelly...Wow, I might even be able to keep up with you for 5 miles!..:)..Did you enjoy Lowmax? I hope the Sharkies work for your stomach. I never had the stomach issues with the gels I just hated the sweetness as it would make me gag.

Christine...I do wish my DH worked in the garage like yours does! You cannot find anything in that mess...

Susan...I love scrambled eggs from BM2!

Jackie...Hope working with your boss goes well. Good workout in a short time yesterday.

I am doing GS Legs and Back and possibly just BM2 and Bodymax power circuits without adding CTX power circuits.

Have a great day...:)

wendi-i am doing a rain dance for you!!! hope you get to your sweater shopping!!!

carole-yes, i have a feeling my doms will be WORSE than last times, but i am prepared which is why i did two. that way, i can rest tomorrow if i need it and not feel totally guilty! there is a 5K in my area on saturday and i might do it. i haven't decided yet. i am still having post-traumatic stress disorder from my last 5K when i got sick! ;)

Hello Cheetahs!

GUESS WHAT I did this past week and I am so happy about it - I joined a gym near my work so I can go when I get out!!!!!!!

I am really excited. I ran 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday. I don't have one at home, so I wasn't getting out much to run lately and it depressed me!

I need running in my life!!!!!!!!!

Take care all!

Amy :) :) :)

Good morning cheetahs! I hope everyone is well and happy and enjoying running.... there's just nothin better:) I'll be doing B&G in a bit, then heading out for the day to catch up on errands and I have a staff meeting alsox(

Cathy- wooohooo a double workout day:7 :7 Your day sure is crammed with two workouts and a chiro appt!! I have to admit that most days for me are ponytail hair days. I even grew my bangs out last year so
I wouldn't have to deal with them in my face anymore. My kids were pretty good at the vet's yesterday. It is an ordeal hauling 3 dogs in at the same time but I'd rather do that than make separate trips.

Judy- My menagerie consists of 3 dogs (all 60-80 lbs) and two kitties. All of them spoiled rotten I'm afraid;-) Have a great time with LowMax today if that's what you opt for. It is a great cardio workout to pair with a run or just before a long one. I particularly like doing just the blasts premix.

Wendy- Oh dear, from the timing it appears you may well have picked up a bug on your trip to AC:( However, your immune system is no doubt a little jacked up from your last bout so I'm thinking you'll kick this one before it gets out of hand!!! Of course this means you'll have no excuse to dodge the wedding but ya can't have it all!
Hope you get in a great circuit workout.

Lorie - Love your workout today!!! Both BBC cardios also?
I guess you've bounced back and are in full recovery!!WTG! Your plan for your basement workout room sounds great. My current home is the first where I've been able to have a workout room. My basement is a walk out that is finished and I have a TM, a complete gym, an elliptical, and of course an area with the TV,DVD, weights, step etc. I just love it.... it's my refuge ;-)

Wendi- Great job on your 10k run! Must have felt great to get that in. Joining Lorie in the rain dance for you! You could definitely use the break.

Carole- I am green with envy and coveting your wood laminate floor!
One of my dogs is terribly arthritic and could never handle it though. I have carpet runners for her over my ceramic tile flooring parts now. Hey, the way your running has been going you'd have no trouble at all "keeping up" with me on a 5 miler;-) In fact, it may be me who is having the trouble. Have a great leg day!

Amy- That's great news about joining a gym. Sounds very convenient for you! Have fun!

Jackie- Hope your working days with the boss turn out okay for you!

Time to get moving here. Later this afternoon I'll be getting in a good 45- 60 min on the EXT.

Hey Ladies!

Went for a 3 mile run this morning and beat my PR by a full minute. Another enjoyable run, especially as it’s a gorgeous day and I got to see the sun rise on my run. I think I’ll do 40 minutes of Yoga over lunch – we’ll see.

Cathy – Hope you get in your run! Good job on the KM LI Timesaver! I’m stalled at 12 pounds right now, but that’s par for the course. I drop some weight, then I hang out there for a bit, then it goes down again (hopefully). I’m looking forward to being able to lift again, but I’m going to take it easy and hopefully get my eating down to compensate. I stopped with the protein shakes after I lift, and I think I need to add them back in.

Judy – enjoy your new mirror! How exciting that your workout room is nearly finished!

Oh Wendy – it sounds like you got the crap that’s going around. Be careful! Take care of yourself and enjoy some chicken soup!

Lorie – ROFL – you are such a Cheetah! You don’t need to rationalize a killer workout to us! Most of us have done one or more ourselves. Sometimes it just feels wonderful to push yourself. Enjoy your DOMS!

Wendi – Nice on the 10k! Glad you were able to fit it in. I’ll pray for rain with you! Here’s is bright and sunny, but it’s supposed to rain tomorrow again. Don’t feel too bad about the workout room – mine is the garage. I get to trip over all sorts of fun stuff. :p

Carole – I don’t know about that. My DH is a neat freak. Everything has to be in place, but he rearranges everything all the time, so I spend half an hour looking for anything. I spent 10 minutes looking for Kimo’s collar this morning, before I realized that he put it back on her even though I told him not to (she’s so furry that it gets hidden in her ruff). Enjoy your Power Circuits. I have that on tap for next week.

Amy – Congrats on joining the gym! Can you go over lunch, too? I used to do that a lot and I tell ya – it made for nice afternoons where I was actually alert! Have fun! I need running, too. It just makes me feel like nothing else.

Shelly – I agree – there is nothing better than a good run!

Well, I guess I should go back to pretending to work. The pups are in getting groomed today (and deshedded – they are shedding horribly right now!). Enjoy!

Good morning ladies!

Cathy - Is it cold enough for you there? I was hoping the temps would stay around the high 70's at least because I'll be going to NY on Oct. 26. I don't want to have to lug around a heavy coat. What I Want Fitness is a Zencast I downloaded to my Zen. It's a really short workout, maybe about 10 minutes. Since I was doing an assembly line of stuff, it worked out. Hope you can get a run in.

Lorie - Good job with Grace on your first time back! How are you feeling today? I see after reading your monster workout today that you're feeling great! WOW!!

Christine - Did you make soup or chili? It's getting to be that time of year. How's Jimmy doing? Great job on the PR today! You're becoming quite the speedster.

Carole - I know I won't stop for any Hammer Gel the next time. I have some Clif Bloks too. But, none of it was doing me any good being at home. Great run and time yesterday! Enjoy your workout today! Working with boss will be fine. If I get tired of it, I can stop. That's why I don't mind because I didn't have to do it unless I wanted to. He's a good boss too.

Susan - Hope you enjoyed your free day yesterday.

Shelly - All the soreness gone yet? I thought the running would make my legs feel better. I still have some soreness and haven't needed a lower body workout this week.

Kristi - Hope you and DD are feeling better today.

Wendy - I'm sorry that cold is trying to come back. Take it easy with the workouts. Feel better.

Judy - Yes, I will attempt the two halfs in two weeks. I'll be on vacation the week before and after the first one. If necessary, I'll walk most of one of them. All I want to do is finish. Bet the workout room will be awesome!

Wendi - Great run today! Did the rain come so you could get to the mall? Yeah, I know my mind has left me. ;( I'm really racking up the miles this year.

Amy - Yay for the new gym. That should be a nice change.

I did 9x400 speed drills today. I warmed up with 6 Minute Abs and stretched with Cathe's Basic stretch.

I'd better get back to work. Hope you're enjoying your day!

Jackie

Oh girls, I've been back and forth in my head arguing over wether or not to do a work out. I ALMOST caved and did one but FINALLY decided not to. Two days of complete rest is not going to kill me, make me gain 5 pounds or cause me to lose any muscle, right? ;) LOL

I am heading out in a bit though as I am training my BF tonight. I don't feel THAT bad that I can't keep our appointment. On the way I am stopping at Sports Authority to do a little shopping on her behalf. What fun! I am buying her 2 sets of DB's and possibly a work out mat. This is a real sign of committment on her part. I am so happy for her!:+

Sorry for lack of personals lately. Feeling under the weather is really no excuse. I've been on the downhill trend with it for weeks now it seems. I am doing the best I can for now and hopefully I will be back to my old self soon! I still love you ladies so very much and don't want you to think otherwise!:)

Off to get ready to leave now....

BBL!:)

Hello ladies,

please excuse another hit and run post from me but i am off and running. we are about to leave in a few minutes to take my son to swim practice and i have a couple of clients this evening}(

cathy, lol. i am loving swimming. I really love the woman i am working with. she is a tremendous swim coach. my new BSN powder came in today...wooohoooo!

wendy- no you won't loose any of your hard work. it's okay to take some rest when needed:)

judy- i am sure you said it before as you are such a sweet person. however i appreciate the sentiments. thanks so much! it's really nice to work doing what you love!!

today's workout was a 30 min swim and 3.5 mile run. temps are down and i felt good:D

ttyl...

Hi, cheetahs! :) :) :)

I've read all the posts but am feeling a tad bit tuckered, so I will do personals in the AM...promise!

This'll just be a quick PM workout report: I was a little late getting home from the chiro, so I had to bag the run (which means I'll only get two in this week, but oh well) and opted for BM2 Timesaver Cardio. Ambitious after only just conquering Basic Step, eh? *lol* Well, the warmup went well, and then after that, I was *all over* the place. *lol* Holy cow is that a tough routine! But I'm happy to say I was catching on to certain sections and although it will take me LOTS of practice, I don't feel frustrated anymore that I'm so out of sync. There *is* hope! *lol* <---which I did a lot of during that w/out.

Have a great Friday-eve!!
