Cathlete
Morning, cheetahs :)

Want to catch up with yesterday’s personals first…

Shelly :: I’m glad everything went well for the first night of the OHS program… I can just imagine that it was a high-stress situation for all…It really speaks volumes about how respected you must be in your field to be selected twice for this!! WTG :) I'm curious, what do you do when you’re working the charge nurse position?…The finger is still swollen but definitely feels better this morning - I can bend it again, which is great! It's sort of like how the tiniest papercut can be surprisingly painful - injure your pinky finger, which seems like no big deal, but then you find out just how much you rely on it for everyday things. Anyway, all is good. :)

Amy :: being a fitness instructor sounds like a great PT gig for a teacher, esp. when you become a mom. I agree--options are good. Enjoy KM today.

Susan :: ahh, a pedi! And wow, one for your 8-year-old, too. Lucky girl! (I think I was 30 when I had my first one! *lol*) How did she like it?

Wendy :: My motto is: if you’re eating clean on vacation, then…you’re doing it wrong! :p *lol* Nice that you were able to get in that many workouts during the week.

Carole :: that’s great that DH is lovin’ the F6. Interesting -- I hadn’t realized I could transfer the info to the PC. Maybe I should start reading manuals more thoroughly. *lol* So does K’box Extreme involve a lot of high-impact moves? I’ve shied away from Bento b/c of what I hear about the choreo, but I can handle it in KB, just not step.

Carole & Shelly :: I threw out this question the other day, but it must’ve been buried in there somewhere…are you planning to do the group run near the hotel in the early AM? Is that the plan?

Jackie :: good luck in today’s race! Hope the weather is cool where you are.

Oh, BTW...Roadtrippers...can I confirm how big your bags will be? I'll need to know if I can pick you up in my Civic (after I empty the trunk :)) or if I need to swap cars with my dad. And: do you have any thoughts about dinner after check in?

Yesterday wasn't really a taxing day but somehow it tired me out…I rode up to the cemetery with my aunt, uncle, one of my cousins, and my parents, where we met my sister (who lives in PA) and three elderly friends of my deceased “aunt,” who drove up from Maryland. It was a short and simple burial, and afterwards, we went to a nearby restaurant and shared stories and fond memories over a long lunch. It was a fitting goodbye for a unique, spirited, and fiercely independent individual.

After being dropped off, I had to make a quick run to the store and then I hit the couch, where I dozed off EARLY during one of the Shark Week programs. Even after getting all that sleep, I find myself feeling a bit lazy & blah this morning. I have PP (that sounds odd) and a run on schedule...Not feelin' it right now.

All right, have a GREAT day! BBL

Good Morning Cathy and all Cheetahs who follow.

Cathy: Glad the burial/lunch went well. So what's our plan for saturday girl? :) I am trying to figure out when I should shoot for checking in at the hotel.

So no work out y'day. The day got away from me and then I didn't get home from mom's until late. I would like to head to the gym for a run or something today if DH will be around to watch DS for me though. Tomorrow I am supposed to start my HM training. EEGADS!

So now that I've passed the test and am officially "CERTIFIED" I am also PETRIFIED! LOL I have to get my cpr cert and start lookin' for a job. *GASP!* I guess I will start by making my resume and lookin' up all of the gyms in my area so I have someone to send it to! :p This is gonna stink too as I had a copy of my resume saved for years but when my computer crashed I lost it and I've misplaced the back up copy of it as well! x(

I'm off to check out the rest of the forum while I drink my coffee...I'll be back though!:)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...for the F6 you download a program and then the transfer is between the watch and your microphone thru Soniclink. Bizarre it would not work on my XP PC but it did work on my older 98SE PC? Amy's KB Xtreme does have some high impact which is completely modifiable as one of the crew is very pregnant and modifies ALL the moves. Something about her music choice just keeps you going and her premixes are pretty good. re RT: I will have one suitcase and a carry on that is not real big. I think dinner would be fun!! As far as the run, I figured just around the hotel somewhere, but I do not as you know, know the area. Will you and maybe Wendy join us for a run??..:)...Even though not really a taxing day I feel any kind of closure/burial can be a bit emotionally draining. I bet your Aunt/friend would be happy to know you shared stories and memories...Enjoy PP and a run...

Wendy...wow, HM training starts tomorrow!! That is awful about loosing your resume. If there is no rush for you to get a PT job soon, take your time and don't sweat it...I think it was awesome you passed...:)...Hey, when did you switch from Picturetrail to Photobucket?

I am going to attempt a 12 mile trail/road run this morning with my running friend. I might walk some but will give it a good shot! I did get some pics from Mike's 50th last weekend and will post some as soon as I scan them...

Have a great day...:)

Hey Wendy...

Oh man, that's a pain to have to do your resume over from scratch, but what an exciting time for you!! :) So great to take another step closer to your goal...Saturday is up to you...Not sure what it is around here that you might be interested in doing during the day. Do I recall correctly that you wanted to spin over to Cathe's gym and work out? Shopping is always an option. The mall near the hotel is a decent one: http://www.deptfordmall.com/ There is also this one, http://www.cherryhillmall.com/, which is very near to the Cheesecake Factory. King of Prussia, the mother of all malls, is also not too far (maybe 30-40 min.) http://www.kingofprussiamall.com/ Have you ever been to Lancaster? That's a neat, little daytrip but is about a two-hour drive. The shore is about an hour. I'm up for whatever, so just let me know what interests you. :)

Another food possibility...if you like seafood (e.g. shrimp, crab legs, mussels) and/or wings & "crab" fries, Chickie & Pete's in the city is a good spot. We could go there and hang for a bit before we "crash" Adelphia's.

Carole :: Hmm, you mean microphone for the computer? I don't have one of those. But it's OK...I can upload the info from the Garmin. Just didn't realize our Polars had that feature!...OK on the luggage...Will see what Shelly & Susan are bringing...if the suitcases are big ones, I probably need to swap cars, which is not a problem at all...Wendy is getting there sometime on Saturday...Re: the hotel area, I just posted about this to someone on the RT forum. The hotel is surrounded by congested roads. I don't think I would enjoy running there. There *are* some parks or just some roads that are not as busy, but you'd have to drive to them. I wasn't sure what your schedule would be and how early you would want to run...I do have a chiro appt. in the morning...I can most likely change it if need be, but then I was wondering if you all would want to meet for lunch or do something around here where you could use a driver. :)

ETA: You may be right that the day was a little draining emotionally without me truly realizing it. I didn't get out there to run this morning, so that means I'll need to wait til evening when it cools off. Which is fine. I think I need to just roll with it today. :) I'm a little PMS-y and I find that leaves me a little low-energy.

Cathy...yep a PC microphone. They are fairly inexpensive. I just like the calendar feature from polarpersonaltrainer.com, and I can add my runs to it so I can see a whole months view. I will of course still use the Training Center and Motionbased for my Garmin. I am not a huge fan of running in congested areas but I feel bad imposing on your car services! I hope you will let us pay for the gas. Hopefully Shelly will chime in here...I believe Susan is doing the step class at Cathe's club friday and I bet Shelly could and would do both the run and step class!! But I don't have any real plans friday except for a run. It would be great to spend some time friday with you...:)

PS...I am a bit PMSy myself, so the run could be fun today...:)

ETA..I am a terrible typer!!

OMG, I am soooo jealous - all my Cheetahs and Cathe friends will be meeting each other and spending some AWESOME time working out with Cathe together. I need pics and stories and LOTS of them!!! :7 please....... ;-)

Is there any Cheetah besides me that isn't going? Anybody that I can chat with here????? Just curious......

Cathy - we were watching Shark Week, too.:7 My DS loves those scientific shows.

Wendy - YOU PASSED!!!! I must've missed that post somewhere along the line. CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was it a long hard process? Good luck with your resume.

Today we are going four-wheeling on a new trail, I believe, then I have a Tastefully Simple meeting in the evening and I'll get a run in before I go to that later.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone and I'll try to get back later.

Marcia.

Good morning Cheetahs!

I ran 4 miles this AM! Had to stop because of "my friend" pains. That time.

BUT - the jetlag is all gone! I crashed last night at 10:30 and woke up at 7AM today!!!!

Marcia - Sadly I will not be on the Road Trip either, so we can be in touch next weekend!

Wendy - Glad your trip was great! It is hard to eat healthy on vaca sometimes. I tend to eat fries and stuff on vaca - and I never eat fries!!!! Congrats on passing the exam! You will be great!!!!

Carole - I hope you enjoy your 12 mile run! Wow!

Hello to all other Cheetahs! Have a great day all!

Make sure to take lots of Road Trip pictures and post them for us!

Hi Cheetahs!

We are taking off for a short vacation today. Other plans we had with a group of people fell through but we are going to fit in a few days away in Primm, NV. The kids will swim and I will SHOP! I've been out of sorts the past week or so (I think the new puppy threw a huge monkey wrench into my routine) and I plan on getting back into the groove when we return. I sure need to!

Wendy, I'm wondering if you got DOMS from the rowing machine you used on vacation.

Amy, It is so awesome that you love your job and the kids you teach! I've got 4 kids ranging in age from 5 to 27 and know a thing or two about teachers who love what they do. There are some teachers that neither I nor my kids will ever forget. Luckily only one or two of them will be remembered for how bad they were while the rest definately found their niche.

Cathy, I wish I were going on the roadtrip! I didn't even try to register....too busy this year but maybe next year. Are you participating or just facilitating transportation and stuff for your cheetah friends?

Marcia, I'm NOT going on the roadtrip either! I'll be excited to see pictures though!

Good morning to everyone else. Gotta go finish packing. I'll talk to you in a few days!

Good morning Cheetahs!

No time for personals. Will try and catch up later. I had my first deep tissure massage Friday and it was so good. I'll venture to say it's one of the best that I've had. Yesterday, DBF and I walked 3 miles. Then we did some work in his office cleaning up old files. That was an all day project. Didn't even have time to check in.

My 5 mile race was at 7:00 am this morning. It was hot and humid. The temp was already in the 80's. There was not much shade in this one either. I finished the race in 48:13. I didn't have a particular goal. So, I just took my time in the heat. It started off going up hill and there were lots of hills thereafter. It was so hot that I had to stop at the water stations along the way and I don't ever do that in these short races. After the first mile, I hit the button I thought was lap on my Garmin. After about 6 minutes I realized nothing was changing. I figured out I had hit the pause button instead. Now, I won't have my finish time but that's ok because I made sure to pay attention to the clock at the finish line. DBF got a picture too.

I have to head home now because I have a church function I need to be at by 2:00. Will chat with you later.

BTW, enjoyed the Bourne Ultimatum movie Friday night.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Jackie

Good morning cheetahfriends! Well, I managed to get the old bod out of bed by 0515 this morning and was on my favorite dirt country road by 0600. It was perfect weather, it had rained last night and everything was damp and fresh. I ended up going 14 miles with a negative split, doing the last 7 at marathon goal pace, feelin might good now:7

Cathy- The funeral service for your aunt sounded ideal to me, everyone should leave this earth that way if we could. You were asking me about what I did as Charge RN. I made out work assignments, decided where incoming patients would go, triage out ones who didn't need to be there, act as back up and resource ...ie. the troubleshooting go-to gal, not just for the ICUs but I would also answer emergency calls from the floors when they had a problem.
Now I stay in one ICU all night, still giving assignments and being the resource person but I no longer have to travel all over and I get to take care of patients myself again :7 Bet you were sorry you asked!

Re: the RT:7 :7 :7 I will have one backpack and a suitcase I will check. It won't be a large suitcase! I was hoping that there would be a suitable place to run near the hotel but it doesn't sound like that is the case:( I really didn't want you to have to change your plans and feel like you have to cart us around for everything.
Gayle will be there early I'm pretty sure.... I wonder if she'll have a car and will want to go for a group cheetah run? I would dearly love to do something fun with you later, lunch, shopping, site seeing, whatever.

Wendy- I answered your post on the Open Forum about your PT certification. Congratulations again!!! Certified and Petrified?
You are too cute! I sure do look forward to seeing you again!!

Carole- Good luck on your 12 miler today. If you're running with a friend I bet you'll go the distance and be fine!!! Can't wait to see the pics of the party!

Marcia- I'll be bringing my notebook computer since the hospital provides free high speed internet service so hopefully we can still chat while were at the RT. Have fun with your off road 4 wheelin
today!

Amy- Good job on the 4 miles!!!

Elaine- Have a great time on your vacation!!!

Gotta go now, DH is anxious to get in some shopping.

ShellyC

Good morning ladies,
I am a lazy cheetah this morning. It is TTOM, which I am SO glad it will be over before the roadtrip. My hubby went out and got bagels and cream cheese this morning and we blew off going to church today. We just needed a day at home.

My 8 year old LOVED the pedicure. She got blue polish with a flower in it. Having 3 kids all under the age of 8, makes it hard to have any one on one with them, so it was nice to just hang out with her:)

I did Imax xtreme yesterday and it was good, but I have done a lot of step lately and my knees are feeling it today, so I will just do PUB today and maybe a little bit of kickboxing.

Cathy, I am just going to have a carry on duffle bag and large purse. I was actually 33 when I got my first pedi. Trust me this will not be a habit for me and my daughter, because it is a little expensive;-) I think dinner sound GREAT after pick-up. I have never been know to turn down a meal}( I like everything, so anyplace is fine with me.

Wendy, I think you will do GREAT as a pt. Could you get a job in your gym that you work for? I actually hate getting CPR certified. I find the class draining, even though compared to all the testing you just did, it will be a piece of cake:)

Carole, have fun on your 12 miler. I am so looking forward to running again. I tell ya, I think that some of the Cathe workouts have as much impact or more than running. I miss the crosstraining element of it. You and Shelly will think I am the biggest dork with me stretching every couple minutes at the Cathe classes. I will be leaning against a wall stretching the ITB every 10 minutes:) 4 more days!!!!

Marcia, we will definitley post pics for you guys to see. I wish all the cheetahs were going:(

Amy, good job on the 4 miler. That is great that you work with inner city kids. What a challenging and rewarding experience.
Great job on the 4 miler!

Elaine, have fun on your trip and have fun SHOPPING!!! How is your plantar fascitis doing? Are you able to run yet? I have had this dang ITB issue for the past couple of months and it is just starting to behave itself. I hope you can still do the Boston Marathon. I know how hard you trained to qualify.

Well ladies, the little ladies are wanting my attention and the guinea pigs are squeaking to be fed. It is such a lively household here(LOL)!!!

See ya later!

Susan

Hi Jackie, GREAT job on the race!!!!

Shelly, Gosh everyone is bringing a suitcase. I just don't want to have to deal with checking it, but now I am wondering if I should bring one. I am trying to cram everything in my duffel. Oh well, for once I will travel light:) Sounds like a wonderful run. $ more days!!!

Jackie- Sounded like it was a tough race! But you hung in there and did pretty darn good!!! Kudos to you champ!!!

ShellyC

Marcia..don't worry we will take lots of RT pics!!! Enjoy four wheeling.

Elaine..your vacation sounds fun and well needed, I bet you will have a great time.

Jackie...good job on the 5 miler in those humid conditions. I think you can somehow set your Garmin to automatically track the laps every mile so you don't have to worry about it. Glad to hear you enjoyed the movie.

Shelly...wow, good job on being the early riser and the negative splits! I think Gayle said she was doing Cathe's 9:10 step class friday? I feel the same about Cathy having to cart us around, she is so sweet. Hopefully we can work something out as spending some time with you cheetahs friday sounds like a lot of fun....hey, does your notebook PC have a Compact flashcard slot? We could share some pics right away!

Susan...trust me, I will not think of you as a dork for stretching every few min!! We could all benefit from that. If I don't lay down and die in the middle of the last Bootcamp class on Sat, I will be amazed...

The 12 miles was tough the last 2 miles. My DH met us with Sadie in a bike basket the last half mile, that sure helped me finish!!

Hey Ladies.

I am completely devoid of motivation to exercise today. I haven't worked out since Thursday either!:-( I keep telling myself it's OKAY but I still feel guilty as anything. I intend to force myself back onto the bandwagon by tomorrow w/o a doubt though so I guess letting it go one more day would be OKAY, right? It's funny how I was able to motivate myself to work out during vacation but now that I'm home I just want to be lazy!:p

Carole: How nice that DH and Sadie were able to keep you going at the end of your run. That's what I find great about my runs with my friend. We motivate one another to keep moving a little farther...USUALLY! ;) :p Speaking of my friend, I must get in touch with her and schedule a run soon!:) I changed from picture trail to photobucket a week or so before I left on vacation. I am letting my paid account with picture trail expire and it seems as though I will not be allowed to keep the free one now so I switched up.

Cathy: I don't know what I dread more...re-creating my resume or sending it out! :p Hmmm...so many choices for what to do this weekend. Well, we also have time on Sunday as I don't HAVE to head home as soon as I check out but if we are going to hit Cathe's gym for a work out we better do that saturday so I can a shower. I don't want to offend anyone!:7 Shopping is great, eating is great, drinking is great, exercising is great! Can we pack it all in? }( What's in Lancaster?

Marcia: You will be missed over this coming weekend but we will be thinking of you and I am sure there will be lots of pics for you to look at once we all get back home and settled.:) TY re my PT cert. It was a long process. The hardest part for me was disciplining myself to get it done. I haven't been a student of any sort in ages so it was tough for me to get back into that kind of thing.

Amy: Glad you had a great Honeymoon. I would love to visit Hawaii but my hatred of flying will surely keep me away for a long long time!:-(

Elaine: I hope you have a nice get-away! Shopping is good for the soul! ENJOY!:) I didn't have any notable DOMS after using the rower, though I thought I would! I felt tightness in my back when I would pick up DS the next couple of days but I wasn't sore.

Jackie: Sounds like you ran a great race considering the heat and humidity! Kudos to you girl! The 5 miler I did sounds similar. It was hot that morning. The sun was VERY strong and there was very little shade. Thank goodness for the folks in town with their hoses and sprinklers turned on for us!:)

Shelly: Nice run lady! What's a negative split?? I am not familiar with that? I know what splits are but negative ones?? Yes, certified and petrified sums it up! LOL Can't wait to see you again either! I am so excited to meet everyone else! It's gonna be so great!:7

Susan: TTOM huh? I feel for ya...I got it the morning we were leaving to drive home from SC. Thank goodness it wasn't bad and thank goodness it waited until we were leaving!!! My SIL's got it while we were there, poor things! I wasn't due for another week but I guess living with 2 women for a week who had it made my schedule change. You know how that works! LOL No, I won't be applying for a job in my current gym unless I have no other options. It's a great gym but not a good place to work.

Okay, I gotta get this motivationless butt off the chair and get dressed. Gotta go food shopping and DH OFFERED to come so I'm not passing up this opportunity! LOL

BBL!

Carole :: The Polar site sounds cool. I still haven’t checked out Motion Based, either…OK, here’s what I think I will do – I will pass on the group run Friday morning (I would truly just slow ya down, anyway :)) and keep my chiro appt. as is, so that I can spend some time with you all on Friday between the step class and your meet & greet...I do not feel at all like I’m carting you around. I’m happy to do it… Looking forward to the 50th b-day bash pics…awesome job on the 12 miles!!! How cute about Sadie in the bike basket.

Marcia :: I’m not really on the RT, either. I’m just a groupie. :p :) So I will be around. Hope you had a good run. Gotta confess, partner, I blew it today. (See below.) But I did *something*, so I guess it’s not *all* bad.

Amy :: good job putting in the 4 miles despite AF! Glad you finally shook the jet lag. It always seems hardest on the return trip home.

Elaine :: have a great trip…the shopping sounds fun…No, I didn’t make the cut for the RT…I’m just a hanger-on. :)

Jackie :: so glad you enjoyed the deep tissue…Yikes! In the 80s at 7 am is rough. And hills! Wow - WTG!!!! Sounds like a challenging race.

Shelly :: great run this morning!…No, I’m not at all sorry I asked. :) Sounds like the Charge Nurse is the one *in charge.* Duh. *slaps head* That makes sense. :p Anyway, the dull moments must be rare in your line of work…That’s right – I believe Gayle is driving. There is a park just a few minutes’ drive from your hotel…not sure what the trail is like, but at least it would get you off the busy road…It is pretty “built up” in that area…as is Glassboro and much of the rest of South Jersey.

Susan :: hope your knees got a break today – gotta be fresh for all those RT workouts!…Let me know if you wind up switching to a suitcase. Two suitcases and 3 carry-ons might work in my car.

Another question for the RTers…where and what time do I need to pick you up on Sunday for the airport run? I’m thinking I heard Five Points Diner?

Wendy :: definitely don’t feel guilty – you worked out on vaca, girl, and no doubt you will bring it tomorrow! Lancaster is where a lot of Amish folks live, so there are lots of little farms and country-type shops. Don’t know if you are into that. There are also lots of outlets there. That would mean 4 hours of driving, though, so with all we’re thinking of doing, it might not be our best option unless we cut out something else.

I wound up doing an SS premix – no run. But will probably put in some miles in addition to tomorrow’s yoga. Just could not shake this case o’ the lazies. It's now actually TTOM, not PMS, and let me just say this: if I see that commercial that says “have a happy period” one more time, I will plant a roundhouse kick into the TV. Yeah, it’s THAT kinda day. *lol* On the bright side, my finger is practically back to normal.

Hi to all other cheetahs! Have a great night!

Cathy: Yeah-Lancaster is a bit far. I'd prefer to have time to do other things as well if you don't mind. I guess later in the week we can just pick a time to meet at the hotel and then take it from there?? Does that sound okay to you? Lord knows if we try to plan ahead one or both of us won't be in the mood to do what we planned anyway! LOL :7 Oh, by the way...did you see me wavin' to you last Thursday evening? I forget what time it was but I didn't forget to wave when I passed exit 3!:)

CAthy,
You are SOOOOO sweet, but you do not have to pick us up for return flight. I know I can pick up rapid rover. I hate to put you out like that. You have been so kind about pick ups. I know for sure that I will just have a carry on and purse. I am too afraid of my luggage getting lost, since I have a layover:)

Susan

Good evening Cheetahs!!

I just watched the movie "Freedom Writers" and it was so good! Talk about teaching inner-city kids! What inspiration!

You ladies are so lucky to be hanging out with each other and meeting Cathe this weekend! You must be so excited! Good for you all!

I am going for a run again tomorrow AM. This time I am hoping for 6:30AM!

Good night!
