RunninTeach

Cathlete
Morning, cheetahs :)

This morning'll be a run + Squeeze mishmosh. Then it's off to PA for my aunt's burial. I think I mentioned it, but I'm not sure: she passed away in June and her remains were finally delivered from Germany. We called her "aunt," but she was actually a family friend. Lived to be 87 and had a full life. Quite the character. But no sorrows - she's at peace.

Gayle :: two weeks *is* a long time to wait! I hope it works out. That would be a great job.

Elaine :: yes, Wendy has been on vacation...she should be back this weekend. Sorry you overslept and missed your workout.

Have a great day, ladies. Will BBL.
~Cathy :)

Cathy-I assume you found somewhere to take the family today? Sorry I couldn't help with that area.

OK....awesome start to my weekend. I participated in another CCPP Day today and LOVED IT! I was up and on the bike by 6:15. I'm sitting here with my hair literally drenched and dripping. I went out to get the newspaper and my neighbor yelled out her window, asking if I showered in my clothes this morning! LOL Needless to say, IT ROCKED! 2 Saturdays in a row....I can get used to this! I logged 17 miles this time! WOO HOO!

BBL to chat, perhaps! My neice is coming in an hour and I must shower quick!

Gayle

Gayle :: yes, we'll be going to Otto's, which seems appropos. It's a German restaurant that my parents have been to with her before...When you say you participated in CCPP, what does that mean exactly? Are you riding "with" others? Anywho, 17 miles - great workout! Enjoy your niece's visit.

I put in the usual 3 miles...was a good run...stayed upright this time http://www.getsmile.com/emoticons/smileys-91853/aiw/yes2.gif and followed it with a very brief Squeeze mishmosh of standing legs, buns & thighs, and the "L." It doesn't take much to burn w/ this constant working of the legs.

Cathy-It's Cardio Coach Press Play. A bunch of us from these board usually do it the last Saturday of the month. Somebody suggested we do a repeat today, so it's been 2 Saturdays in a row. It's cool, knowing that others around the world are doing the exact same workout.

Gayle

I'm baaaaaaack!:)

We had a nice time but the concensus is overwhelming...we will *NEVER* do that again!   (the drive, we mean) It was pretty bad going BOTH ways!!!! x( Myrtle Beach itself was quite nice but there was not enough to do IMO. I like to have lots to do on vacation and this place didn't fit the bill...especially when you have a 2 year old in tow who limits what you can do as well! We got in about 1:00 am this morning and PASSED OUT!:7 All of our luggage is in the kitchen and I close my eyes when I go in there...I don't even want to THINK about tackling that. I am going to get soooo aggravated.x( Vacations are great but oh what a pain!:p

I'll be back in a bit!:)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...hope the pinky is better today. I like creating my own mish moshes too with KPC/L&G. I don't remember you mentioning your Aunt's passing. I am glad you can put her to rest today. She sounded like a interesting person! Good job on the upright run, as I know just how that feels.

Gayle...good job with CCPP again this Sat!

Wendy...welcome back! We missed you...sorry the vacation wasn't all you had hoped for. I rarely enjoy coming home and unpacking!!

Jackie...there are no dumb questions...:)...I actually could use some new running tights. I got my last few pairs thru Road Runner Sports some time ago. But I have used the Hind brand before too. If you have a decent sporting goods store local you can just go in and try on some to find ones you like. I hope you had a good massage. Let me know how you liked the new Bourne movie, I read all of that series by Ludlum! Good luck on your 5 miler tomorrow...

Elaine...it might cool a bit next week around here. Nothing major but a break for the 100's would be nice! Yes, I do eat the fish we catch. Most of the time my DH smokes it. And as I had always detested ocean salmon, this fresh water salmon is quite tasty. I hope you have a nice relaxing vacation.

Laura...now that is impressive that your DH picked out a nice outfit for you that fits perfectly...:)..what a nice B-Day...Sounds like the house is moving along, how exciting.

Jess...Happy belated Anniversary! Sounds like a fun weekend of celebrating.

So I got my DH a Polar F6 HRM. He was shocked but very happy and said he always wanted one. Hopefully he will try it out this morning on the EXT!

I plan on doing Amy's Kickbox Xtreme and some of my own leg exercises.

Have a great day...:)

Hey Carole :: it still hurts a bit. I'm going to keep the splint on another day b/c I keep hitting it accidentally...Glad DH was happily surprised with the Polar. Maybe the new gadget will encourage him to be consistent with his workouts. I bought my father a Polar this winter, and unfortunately, he does not use it, but he LOVES my old Garmin..enjoy k'boxing and your legwork today!

Wendy!!!!! Welcome back, girl! We missed ya. Glad you enjoyed yourselves even though there wasn't as much to do as you expected. Some of my guy friends used to make an annual golf trip - I thought they said there was more to do there in recent years but maybe not family-oriented. I can imagine that ride would NOT be fun with a little one. I agree with Carole - the unpacking is the worst!

Good morning cheetahs! I missed posting yesterday... too busy and exhausted from work I'm afraid, but it should get a little easier now. I've mentioned it before but my hospital has just started a new open heart surgery program and since I'm experienced in this area I've been working alot in the preparation stages. I gave up my full time charge nurse position to go back to patient care which I really love more anyway. I'll still do charge also. Anyway, Thursday night was the BIG night with our first patient who I took care of. He was a delightful man and did well but the mental stress was difficult to handle.... i.e. feeling like everything HAD to be perfect! This was actually the second time I've been in this situation. 20+ yrs ago I was working in another hospital that was starting up a new OHS program and I took care of that patient as well. Not many nurses have done this once, much less twice! It makes me feel a little special ;-)

Okay, enough boring work babble.... thanks for humoring me. Yesterday, after waking I got in a 6 mile interval run and then BM2-- I had alot of stress to work out of me;-) Boy did I sleep like rock!!!!! Feeling recharged this morning now:) I'll be doing Mindy Mylrea's Interval Express and a 40 minute iclimb on the EXT.

I'll be back for personals!

ShellyC

Back for Personals!

Cathy- Good job on your Run and Squeeze today..... that sounds a little odd:p I hope your poor little finger recovers soon! I can't believe it'll be less than a week before I'll see you again!!!

Wendy- Welcome back!!! We all missed you:) :) :) I hear you about how tiring it was. For 3 years in a row DH convinced me to DRIVE from Az to NJ and back for our vacation. NEVER again... you end up needing a vacation to recover from your vacation;-) Will you be rested enough for our meetup next weekend??????

Carole- I've been thinking that it would be neat to wear the cheetah shirts at our meet n greet party myself! oooooh you have a fun workout day ahead of you with KBEXT!!! I just never get tired of that one.

Gayle- You have me very intrigued with your description of CCPP...
The enabling is in high gear}( I'll have to check it out!. Your interview sounded really positive. I'm thinkin that job is yours!

Laura- Wishing you the best for your upcoming house showing! You may want to consider renting your house if it doesn't sell. There is ALWAYS a strong rental market, especially now and you can be choosy about who you rent to. It would relieve some financial worries anyway.

Jess- Happy Anniversary!!!

Jackie- Hope you're having a great rest day and good luck tomorrow with your 5 miler.... I love that distance!

SunnyD- Sorry to hear that you injured your ankle!! I hope it's recovered today and that you're over your grumps.... I can't imagine you grumpy!!!!

Time to get movin here... later today I'm going for a hair appointment... a cut and color so I don't look too ancient among all the cute young gals at the RT!

ShellyC

Good afternoon Cheetahs!!!!

Sorry this is so long!!!

How are you all doing today? Everything is great here - I did my Cathe Low Impact Step this AM. Back in the swing of things I hope! Finally! That Hawaiian jet lag is wearing off and I am so happy! Can't wait to get up at 4:30AM somedays again to work out!!!!!

Cathy - I am sorry to hear about your aunt's death, but at the same time, you have said she lived a good long life. What a blessing.
Great job on your run, and I am glad you stayed on those feet today! :)

Wendy! Welcome back from MB!!! I would love to go there actually, and my sister just left to go there for a 4 day vaca with her inlaws. I told her to pick up some info for us about there. DH and I are thinking we would do that vaca next summer. We just got back from our 2 week, very expensive Hawaiian honeymoon, and we just don't think that we will be able to afford that Italy trip just yet (for next summer!). So MB it may be! I finally posted a picture, as you can see!!!! It took time (sad I know) because my comp skills are not great. But I did one!!!!! Good luck with your laundry today - sure you have plenty of it! :(

Gayle - Hope you get that job!!! Good luck! Great workout to you today also!!!!! Sweating it up is always good!!!!

Laura - Best of luck with selling your home. It is tough out there, but you will do it!

Jess - Enjoy that 11 year anniversary!!!!!! Congrats!!!!! You must have gotten married young. I just got married and I am 29. :)

Hi Jackie and Carole! - Have a great weekend workout! :)

Sunny - I hope your ankle feels better!!!

Susan - You posted about my fitness instructor goals I think? (Sorry!) I would love to go for my AFAA primary cert this coming spring of 2008-summer 2008. Then I will hopefully teach step or weight training classes part time. Got to see where this will take me, but I hope and pray that I will get there. I am going for it!!! Then someday when I choose to have kids, maybe I can take time off from teaching for a bit (the children) and just teach fitness night classes. It is good to have options I suppose!! :)

Shelly - Enjoy your cut and color! Fun stuff!

Everyone have a great weekend! I will be doing Kick Max tomorrow AM

Take care,
Amy

Good morning ladies,
We just got back from a HUGE feast at IHOP. I had 2 pieces of Srawberry french toast, 2 scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and 1 piece of bacon, YUM!!!! I am stuffed}(

I did all of KPC yesterday and abs and today I think I will do Imax xtreme. I need to burn off some major calories. My ITB did not hurt at all with KPC, so I am hoping that this thing is almost all gone.

I am taking my oldest(8 year old) for a pedicure with mom today. She is so excited. The other 2 are not happy about it. They so want one too, but told them they have to turn 8 first.

Wendy, WELCOME back!!!! and CONGRATS on your passing the PT exam. That is a HUGE accomplishment. You are on your way to be a trainer. You will be so good at it.

Cathy, enjoy your run and squeeze mish mosh.

Gayle, What a great workout for you this morning. I really like doing the cardio coach on the bike, even more than on the elliptical. I hear ya about the sweat. I am such a sweater. I have to wring my headband out after my workouts;-)

CArole, what a great gift! My hubby could care less how many calories her burns or how high his heartrate is. But, he would spend an ungodly amount of money on an IPOD. Enjoy your Kickbox workout. I can't believe we will be rooming in 5 days:)

Shelly, great workout planned for you as usual. I really like the Interval Express workout. Mindy lives about 1 hour away from me. She is so funny in person and has so much energy. I have taken a couple of classes from her in Santa Cruz. 5 more days roomie!!!

Amy, I got certified through AFAA for Group instruction and they have a great program. For PT I think that ACE is better, but for aerobics instruction, AFAA is the way to go. When you say that you get up to work with your kids, I thought you had children. What kids are you teaching, if you don't mind me asking:)

Well ladies, I am off to the mall for a pedicure. Have a great day!!!!

Cheers!
susan

Hi Susan!!!

Great, thanks for the AFAA advice! One of my best friends recommended AFAA, as she went through them also.

I am a elementary reading teacher during the school year. I love it.
During the summer - I work the summer program with the kids. I love it also and it is great money. It is like a camp. I work with very inner-city kids who need so much love. I do my best! I love the inner-city kids. They appreciate everything, and they really do come from nothing. Poor kids.

But I have no kids of my own as of yet. A couple years - I pray to have some healthy kids of my own. As for now, I call my students my kids!

Take care!
Amy

Hello again! Finished with Interval Express and am taking a break before "round2".

Susan- Mindy must be so fun to take a class from personally, and now you'll get to do the same with Cathe!!!! I am so jealous! You made me drool with your description of your IHOP bkfst! IMAX extreme will definitely take care of the aftereffects }(
Can't believe we'll be meeting soon!!!!!!!!

Amy- Glad to hear you're recovering from your jet lag!

I hope that you ladies who are going on the Road Trip have a blast. Wish I was there with you and meeting you wonderful people!

I cannot wait to see your pictures!

Oh my gosh! DH and I laid down for a nap shortly after DS went down and we just woke up a few mins ago! I have to get ready to go visit my mom soon so I don't have time to play catch up and do personals right now. I haven't even worked out today and probably won't get the chance! EEGADS! *hangs head in shame*

As far as my work outs for the week go...I was able to work out thursday before we left on vacation, sunday, monday, wednesday and thursday though so that was pretty good even though the work outs were short (avaraged about 30 mins a piece) but my diet was HORRIBLE and I was bloated and "backed up" almost ALL week! ACK!x( (Sorry if TMI!)

I have been wanting to try a rowing machine for a while now and finally used one on vacation. I used it twice. The first time I only went like 200 meters to try it out and my form wasn't right but I had DH come and show me proper form the 2nd time and did 1000 meters (about 30 mins) on it and wow did I feel it in my upper body after a while. It felt too easy at first but by about half way through I considered quitting!

Okay, I'm done babbling....gotta jump in the shower...BBL!:)

PS: I really missed you ladies while I was gone but thought about ya lots!

Marcia: I immediately thought of you when I saw the bridge collapse on the news! I found a thread here before and saw that you and yours are okay though. PHEW! I'm so glad!:)

Cathy...well DH used the F6 this afternoon. Now of course he wants me to transfer the info to the PC! Don't know if it will work on his old PC. The kickboxing was a sweatfest!

Shelly...I can only imagine you are a very special and caring person in your job. Maybe I just need more cardio like you to sleep like a rock. Well then it looks like we will be "cheetahs" at the Meet & Greet...:)...Got my hair colored too...highlighted anyway.

Amy..glad the jetlag is wearing off. Kickmax should be a great workout for you tomorrow.

Susan...good job without ITB pain during KPC. My DH and I have no desire for an Ipod, but I am hoping the HRM kicks him into gear. Yes, 5 more days!!!! Enjoy the pedicure with your oldest DD.

Wendy...Congrats on the certification! I will say going out of town always seems to get me backed up. I will have to figure something out for the RT! I have never tried a rowing machine, sounds fun. You probably need some rest today.

Amy's kickbox did the trick. Then I did BM2 abs while my DH did the EXT.
