Hi Cheetahs!

Just getting the thread started here! I'm going to post it and then go back and edit to do some personals!:)

Laurie: I am so happy that you have joined us!:) I am sooo excited for you with your training for a half! That's so cool! I am not that brave yet!

Barb: You are right about the shoes. I just have to do it. It's worth it not to injure myself. Thanks. :)

Christine: Have a WONDERFUL trip! (if you even reads this, which you probably won't!) :+ :+ :+

Today I am considering hitting the gym. I am thinking of a 2 mile run and then a short elliptical work out.

I did the LowMax blasts last night and it was a great quick cardio work out that BURNS UP the legs and butt! WOOH!}( During parts of it I was feeling my knee so afterwards I iced it for about 10 mins and it was good as new again!;)

Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Good Morning Cheetahs:) I'll lace up after my coffee and am scheduled for a 4K run. I have to work at 10:30 but hopefully I'll have time to sneak in some abs and a good stretch. I'm very excited that my 11 y.o. Faith is coming home after a week at camp today. Can't wait to hear about her adventures:)

Wendy, I love that LowMax premix, it's a burner for sure. Isn't it amazing how much relief ice can give you. Enjoy your gym time :)

Barb, thanks for the non-tahini hummus recipe, that stuff is so good and perfect for lighter summer meals.

Christine, thanks for clarifying the whole 'calibrating' method, sounds like your in for a fabulous time in Hawaii Bon Voyage and Aloha!:)

Yadi, a huge WELCOME from one newbie runner and Cheetah to another.

Better get laced up and out the door, have a great one Ladies:)

Take Care
Laurie:)

G'morning Cheetahs!! I got in my 10 mile run- it was soooo nice & cool this morning!!! I couldn't believe it, it was wonderful! It's only supposed to be in the low 80's today- yeah!! My friend Melissa & I ran together & just had a great, steady run. Then I came home to a quiet house & stretched & did 20 min of Pilates.

We're going hiking today at a really neat state park about an hour away w/ some friends of ours & their 3 kids. The girls are looking forward to it, it's always lots of fun & so much to see. We'll pack a picnic lunch too.

I had a great time shopping y'day. I got a super cute pair of Calvin Klein jeans that look great (big sale at Gordman's- love that store)! And new black yoga pants & a new sports bra at Old Navy. Oh, and finally found a pair of very comfy cute brown sandals- they're Dockers sandals & were half off at Kohl's! I hit the teen consignment store & found a few shirts- Aeropostale, Limited, etc for $4 or $5 each & look brand new! I think I'm set now!

Sorry I haven't had time for personals lately, been so busy w/ the kids & trying to get ready for my trip!

Off to make my favorite whole wheat & oat pancakes for breakfast & pack lunches for our hiking! Have a great day!!

Hugs,

Good Morning Cheetahs. So glad it's Saturday as I slept in till 8:00 this morning.

Today I am not sure what I have plan. I know it's an UB workout. Not sure what kind of cardio though.

Wendy I never did the blasts from LowMax. Sounds fun:). Have fun at the gym and take care of that knee.

Laurie have fun on your 4k run and welcome to the Cheetahs. Have a fun day with your daughter too:)

Wow Jess 10 miles good for you. My longest run is only 3 miles outside. I am still working on it.

Well off to do laundry and clean my kitchen first then my workout. I will try and check in later. Have a great Saturday.

Good morning cheetahs

Barb...a sauna would be a great description of walking outside here! I'll be copying your workout yesterday for mine today! That snack sounds yummy, I love guacamole...

Laura...happy to help...:)

Jess...sounds like a busy rest day for you yesterday! Way to go on the 10 mile run!!!!

Laurie...thanks for the link to your half...it sure looks like a pretty run...:)...which does make the run easier...:)..Enjoy your 4K today and I bet Faith will have some great stories about camp!

Elaine...good luck with the 17 miles Sunday! I shelf most of my Cathe cardio when marathon training also. Now that I am 30K training, I can throw one in once in awhile...:)..as far as this nasty weather...I should just drive to the coast, I bet Eureka is quite cool today!!

Wendy...I love target too!! Hope you have luck finding some running shoes. Also too if you are near any name brand Outlet stores like Adidas or Nike, they will often have very good deals. I got 2 pair of Nikes (I do know what type of shoes I need which helps too) for $40 a pair last month. They normally sold for $80-100 dollars. Yes, those Lowmax blasts are real leg burners! Have fun at the gym.

Christine...sounds like a tough time calibrating your monitor. I am not sure I'd like it only being in km's. I am too much of a mile girl..:)...I hope you have a blast in Hawaii.

Barbara...nice to see you post!! Your pics form the Cape look cool! Nice you got in a few runs there. I did enjoy Imax2! I am sure in NJ it is alot more humid than here...I am so glad you are feeling better...:)

Welcome Yadi!!

Sad story. I went to a funeral yesterday for one of our church members. 59 and he had a massive heart attack and died last monday. What a beautiful service though, and the church was packed. I didn't know him well but what I did know he was an awesome man. Just reminds me how short life can be...

I am doing MM upper body and maybe a Coremax segment. I did get some new trail shoes, Montrail Hurricane Ridge, they feel great and should work well for my 13 mile trail run tomorrow...

Have a great day...:)

Hi Carole, that is sad to have someone taken so quickly and without warning. Sure makes one reflective on making everyday a good one and savouring the moments of life than can be missed in the hustle and bustle. It sounds like he was well loved and his funeral a celebration of a life well lived.

I hope your new shoes are comfy right from the get go. Sounds like you're in for a beautiful run tomorrow:)

Hi Barb, thanks for the welcome:)

Jess, wasn't it wonderful to run in cool weather this morning, aaaaahhhh, I felt pretty light on my feet today. Enjoy your yummy breakfast and hike.

I finished my run and did shoulders and a nice stretch, great start to the day :)

Take Care
Laurie

Good morning cheetahs, hope you all have a great weekend. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Today I will do CC3 on my treadmill at home and then a nice stretch. I have a lot of errands to run today so I better get started with my day.

Wendy: have fun at the gym, I prefer their treadmills

Laurie: so glad you enjoyed the outdoor weather and have fun chatting with your daughter, I'm sure she'll have lots of stories to tell.

Jess: have a great day hiking with your girls and friends

Carole: Wow - a 13 mile trail run tomorrow - you go girl! I hope to be there someday.

Good morning! Sounds like everyone's Saturday is off to a great start.

DH and I will run a 5 mile pace run today. On Tues and Thur I did the GS upper body workouts and wanted to hit my upper body one more time with MM today but it doesn't look like I'll have time this morning. We are going to drive to Lompoc, about 1 hour away, to visit with the sister of a foreign exchange student from Spain that we hosted 4 years ago. I might have time to workout when I get home but I'm not even going to kid myself that I'll do it!!! Oh well, I should probably rest up for tomorrow's 17 mile run. Seriously, I get antsy if I don't get every second of planned workouts in even though I *know* it's not going to make one bit of difference if I miss doing the upper body premix of MM today!! What is wrong with me!!! LOL!!! I don't suppose any of you can relate to that at all....LOL!!!

Carole, So sorry to hear your sad story. Life is short and I wish I lived every moment as if I knew this! It's supposed to be a bit warmer here on the coast today but nothing even close to the heat you have. How far are you from Eureka? Is it a reasonable thing for you to do to drive over there to run!:) :)

Jess, What marathon are you training for? And when is is! Again, have fun out here in CA.

Wendy, Thanks for a new idea......I think I'll stick the Low Max blasts on the end of one of my leg workouts this week! I haven't done that workout in about a year and I think the blasts will complement the standing portion of PLB perfectly! And Target is one of my favorite stores. I went yesterday and bought my DD some new school clothes. She picked out her princess backpack and lunch box. I can't believe she'll be in school in a month!! Where did the time go? I'm sure you ask yourself the same thing about Joey.

Barb, I'm going to have to go find that humus recipe you posted. Or did you email it to whoever it was that mentioned it? Either way, I waaaant it. I love humus and a non-tahini version sounds right up my alley.

Christine, Have fun in Hawaii! Yes, Sonoma was *not* a good experience for me. My body is just not acclimated to handling that heat and the course was terrible. The roads were so slanted that it seems like I spent about 3/4 of it trying to find a comfortable place to run. But I need to look at it in the proper perspective which is that it was a training run for St. George in October. At least one bad training run is to be expected and should be welcomed.

Good morning Barabara and Laurie!

Welcome Yadi!

Talk to ya'll later!:) :) :)

I'm back...I couldn't resist...I gave my newest purchase a try for the first time-my 60 min ITread but I only did half of it right now because of my knee...It is titled as "indoor marathon training" but I liked it cause it's done in 6 mins segments with a 60 sec rest in between each one. The trainer says this is a great way to train for a marathon and is similar to the Laurie's training schedule for her half only I think she is running 10 mins at a clip. Right Laurie? :)

Anywhooo, it was a great work out and I logged 2.64 miles in 32+ minutes.

There were 2 BIG hills in it. The first one was an 8% grade and we walked some and ran some. The second was a 10-11% grade and we walked it the entire time. What a BURNER! It was at the end of the 1st half of the work out so she has you doing this on fatigued legs. YOWZERS! The 2nd half of the work out which I did not do today is sprinting. I'm sure that will be tough. I can't wait to try it though!}(

I nixxed the elliptical...felt no need to do anything further after that run!}(

I hope to go out shopping for new running shoes this week. Y'all convinced me! Thanks! :+

Well, gotta go grab lunch!:9

Toodles!:7

Elaine: Have fun with the LowMax blasts! Yes, time is flying by with my DS...still feels like yesterday when I was going to the hospital in labor!!! LOL

Quick post Cheetah Runner buddies,

Did MM Legs today and a 4 mile run & abs from HSC. Good, efficient workout.

Now I'm off to be a "timer" at my kids' swim meets. I'm excited for them to swim. I pity the swimmers in my lane with me holding that stop watch -- as you know, technology is not my strong suit.

No times for personals, but wanted to say a few quick things:

Carole -- I have those shoes and love them. I use them for running in the snow here during the winter. They felt a little stiff to me at first, but I really like them. I hope they work for you. Thanks for sharing the story about the man in your church. It's a nice comment on his life that so many people were there. Life is short -- and that is why it's so good to try to keep in view what is that "small stuff" to not sweat over.

Elaine--good luck on your long run tomorrow. I hope your hip doesn't bug you a bit.

Wendy-- glad you feel set on the shoes. Tell your DH to email me if he has any misgivings.}(

Laurie-- hope your run went well and had time to do abs & Stretch. I sometimes stretch at work if I get crunched for time at home, but it's not the same!

Jess- glad you had a good run

Barbara -- hope you picked cardio today that you enjoyed. If what you want to do someday is run 10 miles, you will do it. The miles add up a tenth at a time -- and it's great you run 3 miles, now! There was a time you couldn't run 3 miles and now you can! Go girl go!

yadi--hope you had a great Cardio Coach workout. I am going to check those out for wintertime here!

Ok -- gotta go. have a great rest of the day!
-Barb
:) :) :)

Checking back in as I just finally got around to doing my workout. Well I tried the Blast from LowMax and had a lot of fun doing it. I also did PUB down only premix and Coremax#1.

Wendy sounds like you had a lot of fun with the new iTread. Im still debating on trying their monthly motivator or not. I might just do it for the 3 months then I will have enough to keep me happy for a while:).

Carole so sorry of your sad news. I just went to a viewing the other day and the funernal was yesterday which I didn't go but my husband did since it was his Aunt. I guess the older we get the more we will be going to.

Hi All!!! A little late posting today :) :)
Yesterday I went to Phoenix for motorcycle training!!!!:7 What fun!
Next week I have 3 days of classes, then I'll have my license and then....SHOPPING :7 They REALLY emphasize safety at these classes. Having worked many years in a trauma ICU I am quite mindful of the importance of this. I got in some good cardio afterwards with the hilow HCExtreme :)

Today's schedule called for a 12-miler. I got out a little late and struggled some due to the heat but pulled through :D Later today I'll do some p90x upper body. I'm having such fun with this!!!!

Barb- Hi there :7 Good workout today. Have fun being a timer! You're kids are so lucky to have such an active involved Mom :)

Christine- You must be so excited about your Hawaii trip. I am positively green with envy ;-) You definitely need different shoes for beach running, I find it VERY difficult unless you stay close to the water line where the sand is firmer.

Hi Laurie!!! You're PEC marathon (or 1/2 marathon) looks beautiful!
It will be inspiring and help you in your run. Great job with your 4k run today.

Hi Elaine! I so empathize with you re: your recent 1/2 marathon.
I had one of those traumatizing ones for my last one last May.
The elevation climb was just brutal and it was the first time I've gone over 2 hrs in a HM. (2:04) But you've got the right attitude in treating it as a learning experience. I'm afraid I too get obsessive and crazy if I don't get in my planned workouts. I think I'm getting a little better though! Best of luck in your 17 miler tomorrow!!!!! :7 :7 :7

Wendy- You will SO notice the difference in your outdoor run with a good pair of running shoes. I like the advice others have given you
about going to a specialty running store to find out what's best for you and then shopping online for a good deal. One of my favorite sites is Zappos.com. But there are many:)

Yadi- A big welcome to you new Cheetahpal!!!!! We're so happy when others join and offer new perspectives. Sounds like you're starting off great with your cardio coach workouts! Do you run outside also?

Hi Jess!!! Great job with the 10 miler today. Unfortunately it remains quite hot here in the west. I'm envious of your cool weather. Have a fun time on your hike!!!

Carole- Already tackling a 13 mile trail run!!  Nothing keeps you down for long:7 So sorry about the funeral for your church member. 59 is Way too young and it makes it so much more hard when it happens unexpectantly. I feel so helpless in trying to comfort families in these circumstances in my work. It never has gotten easier. Running has always helped me leave it all behind and cope.

Barbara- how nice to have you back again!!!! Welcome...it sounds like your doing much better!

Time to go now...great chattin with y'all. Hello to some other missing cheetahs....Pamela, Gayle, Karen, Marcia(how's the new business?) Hi Laura!!! and lovely Mattea :7 :7

Laurie...very true statement about my church friend. You do have great insight...:)

Yadi...have a good CC workout. And I bet you will work up to 13 miles...:)

Wendy...sounds like you had fun with your ITrain workout!

Elaine...yes I can relate...I do have that same antsiness when I miss a workout!!! Good Luck on the 17...if I did go to Eureka you bet I would run there! Its about a 3 hour drive...winding roads...:)

Barb...good efficient workout for you! Thanks for the thumbs up on the Montrails, these are nowhere near as stiff as my previous ones...Hardrocks. About the man from church. I know his wife is devestated and they seemed to have one of those relationships where they were never apart and incredibly close. You don't see that very often, and my heart so goes out for her and their daughter..

Way to go Shelly!!! I bet I will be struggling a bit in the heat tomorrow and thinking of you and all these cheetahs will pull me thru! I have no doubt of the tragedies you see all the time in the ICU. It must help being able to run so you can cope...I just had to run something long tomorrow...I got these great new shoes...:)

Barbara...thanks...it is true that I have gone to more funerals the older I get...you got in a good workout today...:)

I finished MM upper and then did the abs from CTX's Allstep.

OMG though...I did see the temp here at 117!!!! Way to hot....I have drank so much water....:)

Hi, ladies. This is the quick n fast Gayle, posting in again with another short quick post (AGAIN).

12 mile long run today with the team. Partner and I KICKED IT UP for the last 3/4 mile to avoid letting the local school's cross country coach pass us. HR was up to 96% that last bit. IT FELT GREAT!

Time, though, for a new pair of sneakers, as my knee was bothering me.

QUESTION........do you ladies find it hard on your body to run too fast or too SLOW? Too fast, I understand, but my knees were hurting when I was trying to stay slower with the rest of the team, but eventually I just had to quicken my pace and my knees felt great. I've had this happen before. How about you guys?

Sorry I haven't been much of a good poster on our daily thread. Summer is hard with both kids home all day long. I promise, once school starts I'll be able to post more often with more personals!

GAyle

ETA that now I have the urge to do the Low Max leg blast pre mix. OK...you convinced me. Monday, GS LEgs standing followed by Low Max blast premix. I'll be thankin' ya for it all too! LOL

Elaine-Lompoc. It took me a while to figure out where I've heard that town's name before. Then I remembered it was in a book that I just read...Sue Grafton's F is for Fugitive. Just an interesting tidbit! LOL
