Cathlete
Good morning, cheetah babes!

Wendi :: Know you might not be around today, but HI if ya are! That is my Black Fri strategy. Know what you want – limit it to a few key things in places near each other – get there early (I usually leave by 5 am) and very importantly: get out early. It’s an adrenalin rush! :)

Susan :: My bad! I probably should have explained that in the email to you as I know you get here when you can and may have missed that discussion…Did you get my text? SO sorry about that middle-of-the-night phone call. (For everyone else: my cell phone started dialing a # while it was in my purse on the way to school one morning, and of course, it had to call someone in CALI—ack!) Glad you had a good time with Mary and the girls. Hope it helped lift her spirits some.

Wendy :: Ut oh…This sounds serious. Totally understandable if you don’t feel like posting…Just know we’re here and we care…heading out tonight sounds like a good plan to “get away” from it for a bit. (((HUGS)))

Lorie :: Instead of PMing, I emailed you the link to the PhotoShow.

Sunny :: I meant to ask...how is the Accutane working out for you? How are the side effects?

Re: the gift exchange…since we’ll be busy with our families on the 24th & 25th, I think it’d be cool if we open the gifts earlier – say, (just throwing out a date here) Sat. the 15th at 12 noon PST or something. That way we can post to one another and see what everyone received. But whatever everyone wants is cool with me. :)

I have class this morning, so I'll be working out later in the afternoon. Probably a run and a full body weight workout. Perhaps a premix or mish-mosh of MM.

Have a great day...will BBL.

Carole :: I was wondering if you (or any other EXT users) could weigh in with an opinion about which would be a better buy: the Nordic SpaceSaver or the Nordic Autostrider 800. Here is a link comparing the specs of the two. Price is about the same.

http://www.nordictrack.com/webapp/w...&categoryId=19053&compare=21051&compare=27451

Is it better to have an incline ramp? (AutoStride only)
Would I want to change the stride length? (Spacesaver only)
Is iFit something worth having? (Autostride only)

Those seem to be the main differences. TIA for any advice!

Hello ladies (it's saturday!!)

cathy- did you get my PM? could you please add in my adress? thanks! accutane-so far no results except for the dryness. i had my monthly follow up yesterday and spoke to the dr. they want to wait another month to see what happens before moving up in strength due to potential joint pain and other side effects-which i don't want of course. so we shall see...thanks for asking. enjoy your elliptical, i love using the elliptical.

christine- haha..you wanted that push..}( :D i know you asked earlier re: kickboxing. i really like the tracey staehle sweatfest KB workout. in fact it's my standing favorite. i have amy's kb extreme, however i haven't tried it yet.

wendy- you know it's funny even though i haven't met you, i feel like i know you and when you didn't post yesterday i had a bad feeling something wasn't right with you. just know i am praying for you and trust whatever it is you are dealing with will work out in the end. if you need to talk i am here for you.

today's workout was going to be a 12 mile run, however both me and my running buddy are both punking out (it is coooooooold outside) and going to do 6 miles instead. i am also going to do the abs from the fitnessfix video before running. ds#1 has his second scrimmage game today!!

have a great saturday to all of you wonderful cheetahs!!:)

Hey Sunny! Yes, I did, and I PM'd you back. Don't worry, your address was on the list sent to everyone else. I just didn't send it to you. :) I did have the joint pain and fatigue when I went up to 60 mg per day. I had to stick with 40 mg for most of the treatment. I did go up to 60 again in the summer at the tail end of it...I think my body was more acclmated then, and I wasn't working FT, which made a huge difference. I did start to see an improvement almost immediately, but I know experiences vary. It *does* work, though. It's a pain while you're doing it and I was concerned about the risks but am so happy I went through with it...good luck to DS#1 w/ his scrimmage.

ETA: I think I am going to go with the Autostrider 800. It is on sale for $720.

Good Morning Cheetahs!:)

How is everyone? I think we have the rain that everyone was complaining about a few days ago;( Its soooo windy and wet but its not cold out, so thats good!

Today is an unplanned rest day for me. Of course I am working all day and we are going out for supper at 7:30 ish...I don't get off till 6:30. Im hoping to eat super clean all day, then I don't have to feel to bad about not working out.

Last night when I got home I did #1 from the HC Extreme dvd and a 1 mile run:) I only did 1 mile b/c I was thinking that the workout I was doing was broken up into 7 cycles. After doing 2- 5 mins runs I realized thats not what the workout was. Plus I had eaten a small supper a little earlier and the cardio was making my stomach weird. It didn't hurt, I just felt myself getting bloated and I didn't even eat that much supper.

Im going to read yesterdays post and I will be back with personnals!

Lori:)

Alright time to catch up:)

Cathy** The gift exchange time is fine with me. I also received your email last night for the cards! I should do that on my days off and get them ready. If I keep putting it off, the next thing I know....I will be out of time! Mine will probably have to go in the mail a little earlier b/c Im in Canada!!!! Enjoy your workout! Im so jealous!

Sunny** Your not gonna go for your 12 miler in the cold!? Tut-tut!! LOL When I run in the cold my lunges get weird. They expand and its really painful when I lie down. It hasn't happened in a while though. Have fun with your 6 miles!!

Judy** Good job on the run yesterday! Woo Hoo!!

Lorie** Nice job on the workout! Double whammy! I love those workouts. Did you have a better day yesterday?

Wendi** I use to hate getting my pics taken as well b/c one eye goes smaller then the other when I smile! LOL BUt i have learned to live with it! I also hate when you have to hold a smile for sometime and it becomes unnatural and my upper lip starts to shake! Weird hey!? Im also thinking OFIF. I have to work all weekend but I am on my 2nd shift. Can't wait for next week! Only have to work 2 night shifts.

Christine** I didn't get a whole lot of time to roam around walmart so I didn't pick up much and what I did pick up my MIL paid for:) We ended up talking to other people who were also waiting and that killed a bit of time. Did you do BC 2x's? Ive never done that!

Carole** You had a nice workout planned yesterday, did you do it?

Jackie** Have fun with your race. How far is it? No decorations going up here this weekend, My boss wouldn't go get them for me;( He said it was to early! I think he hates christmas.

Shelly** Have a good race!

Wendy** I feel for you!!! {{{{HUGS}}}} Whatever it is that you are going through ,I wish you the best with whatever you decide to do! You can always PM me if you wish to chat!

Thats it! Ive caught up!!!! That wasn't to bad. I didn't get my workouts yesterday either. Oh well, just would have been a great weekend to preview them! I guess they will be here this week sometime! Have a good saturday everyone!

Lori:)

Good morning Cheetahs!

I finally seeing some daylight here. I'm all unpacked and everything's washed and put away.

Shelly - Loved the pic of you and Maddie! She looks like she's ready for action. I'm kind of in awe of myself for attempting the final race. But, I didn't want to come this far and not finish. Good luck with your race today! Know you will do awesome!

Christine - BC twice?? You go girl! Yeah, I'll probably do as little walking as possible because I want to get the race over and done. I want to enjoy it more this time too. I like using my Bosu. Something different.

Sunny - Glad to hear you like Hi/Lo Dome! Can't wait to give it a try. Good luck to DS today.

Cathy - Thank you so much for getting the exchange together. I did get my email with my person's name and I got the address list too. You're the best. I'd like to wait until Christmas to open my gift but I'm game for what everyone else wants to do. I have the Nordic Trac Auto Strider 800 and I love it. It's a spacesaver too and I can just fold it up out of the way. The incline is manual. I love that it has speakers. The fan is useless. I do use the iFit programs that came with it but prefer iClimbs for a good workout. I've used the first and second level inclines. Don't think too much about the stride length.

Judy - Sorry your run didn't go as planned but you still kicked butt!!

Wendi - Hope you can get a workout in amongst all of that hard work. My goal was to finish the Road Race Series of 10 races. There were 2 races each of 5K, 5M, 10K, 10M and 2 half marathons. So, I was racing every two weeks. Good training for a half too. This is the final race. Thank goodness! Then, I will be taking it easy and enjoying my new Cathe and Amy Workouts.

Wendy - Glad you're ok. I hope you can rest better.

Lori - Enjoy your rest day. My race is about an hour away but I'll be visiting with DBF and he lives in the area.

Rest day for me. I'm heading out for my massage in a few minutes. It's an hour's drive too. The weather should be pretty nice for my race tomorrow. Should be in the high 40's in the morning but the sun will be shining.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Jackie

Hi Cheetahs-

Cathy- I would have chosen the auto strider. I am not sure it would be a benefit to change the stride. You will have to letu s know what iFit is. I am not a big fan of using the had things, because I prefer on EXT workouts to make my lower body do most of the work. We get plenty of UB form Cathe!

Wendy- I noticed your absence y'day and your usual bubbly self has not been apparent in recent posts . (((HUGS))) I will pray for your situation. Give Joey an extra hug from me and come here to vent. This is the place to do it.

Shelly- Is your race today or tomorrow?

Lori- That bloated feeling can really ruin a workout. I cannot have anything in my stomach before a workout, except coffee.

Sunny- thanks for the recommendation about Tracey's KB. I only own Cathe KB workouts, but am interested in getting equally good other KB workout in the future. However, it will have to wait until my spin classes are over.
Today will be an easy 30 minute cardio or a walk outside with a friend.

Morning Cheetahs.

I slept until 8 again today BUT I must admit that I didn't get into bed until 11:30 and then had trouble falling asleep as DH was next to me coughing and snorning and snoring and coughing. x( I didn't want to wake him up since he had to get up at 5am to go to work today so I went and laid down on the couch. I guess I slept there for about an hour or so and then back to bed when it was quiet. It took me some time to fall back to sleep at that point too though. ACK.

Thank you so very much for all of the kind words. I would love to vent here but I am not comfortable doing that in a public forum at this time. What is going on with me is not "public knowledge" yet. Only myself and the friend I spoke to y'day know the situation so I'd hate for it to be out in public view right now. The chances of anyone I know coming here and reading about it are it slim to none but I'd still rather be safe then sorry, you know?

As for my work out...I think I will be doing an upper body mish-mosh today...I THINK. You know I could change my mind at any moment! :p I was going to arm myself with my bands/tubing, my step and pull up bar and see what kind of killer u/b circuit I could create that would hopefully cause major DOMS come tomorrow morning! How's THAT for a plan!?! }( LOL

So I went to Target y'day as I needed a little retail therapy to clear my head. }( I bought a cd/dvd case that holds 128 discs and put almost all of my work out dvds in it. I got the idea from O/D a while back. EXCELLENT idea! What a space saver and now my DVDs are nice, neat and compact!:)

I think that's enough rambling on about me for one morning. I'm off to grab another cup of java and if it stays quiet upstairs (DS) then I will be back in a jiff for personals! I've been slacking something fierce on them and feel badly about that.

BBS!

Wendy- (((HUGS))) do not feel bad about slacking in personals!!! No guilt here girlfriend! I like your idea about the space saving DVD/
CD thingy.

Cathy...re the EXT's. I do like the changing of the stride length but not sure of the benefits. I would have liked the incline though and would have tried iFit if it did come on my EXT. To be honest if the Audiostrider was available when I ordered my Space Saver (and for the same price), I would have opted for the Audiostrider...:)

I'll be back to catch up...:)

I'm back. :)

Cathy: Any day y'all want to open gifts is fine with me so long as I'll be around. My life is not super busy though so I'm sure I'll be able to fit it in my schedule. ;) :p :7

Sunny: No worries about ditching the 12 miler today. My longest run was 10 miles and I still made it through my half. You'll be fine!

Lori: Enjoy your dinner tonight! We went out to eat last night but I was good and had a salad. :)

Jackie: What distance is tmrw's race? Enjoy your massage. Glad to hear your vacation bags are unpacked and everything is washed and in it's place again. It can be such a pain to have to do that.

Judy: Enjoy your walk today!

Hi Carole!

Thank you all again for the kind words regarding my situation! I appreciate all of you so very much. I'm so lucky to have you all and this thread to come to every day. :)

Jackie** Do you have a massage booked for AFTER your race?:) LOL Thats when I would need it. Im still uncertain about running a race in April month b/c we are thinking about taking a trip in April. Avril Lavine is playing in Ottawa and we are thinking about getting DD tickets to go. You never know, there could be a race in Ottawa at the same time. I would have to find out before hand though so I could train for it.

Judy** I usually workout on a empty stomach as well and when I use to work out in the evenings before, I would have a early supper, around 5 ish. Last night I didn't eat until 7 and started working out around 8:15. Like I said though, I didn't eat much and if my MIL wasn't there, I wouldn't have eaten at all. I don't know why I worry so much about what she thinks or might say!

Wendy** I totally understand why you wouldn't want to be open yet with something that isn't public knowledge. Whenever I am venting I always worry that someone is going to see it and it will get out. Not many people I know are aware of this site, or the fact that I am on here. I kind of need to change my user name again though to something that doesn't reveal who I am. I think I will do that today!}(

Just checking in again to pass sometime away. Not a whole lot happening her. Boss is kind of roaming around again. We have a new employee so I think he is helping him out or something.

Lori:)

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...if you do get a Nordic EXT, you might want to pay for someone to help put it together. I like doing stuff like that but not everyone does...but maybe you know a handyman?? I have used my silver for firewalkers and other leg exercises. Just not very often..:)..Enjoy your run and MM workout later.

Lori..enjoy your rest day. I did do my workout yesterday and had a very nice run!

Jackie...I also prefer shopping on Monday mornings thru the holidays as it is my day off. Enjoy your massage!! I think you have a good plan for the upcoming half...and you do know what to expect...Good Luck to you...:)

Judy...I have not heard of a Steinmart...so it did not impress you? Good job on the 9.5 miles yesterday...Enjoy your 30 mins of cardio today.

Wendy...sending {{{HUGS}}}....I do hate that snoring stuff! Earplugs normally help me, but sometime poking is an option!! An upper body mish-mosh sounds like just the ticket! Let us know what you come up with...that cd/dvd holder would definitely be a Space saver.

Shelly....LOVE the pic of you and Maddie...Good luck on the 11 mile rails to trails today!! Thanks, seeing you again will be cool, Shelly...:)

Christine...I did not get Amy's new Hi/lo Dome but I do have her previous Hi-Lo Xtreme, although I have only done it once or twice. So have you decided on S&R? I think doing a circuit before a GS workout MWF would be fine. You can always back off some if it seems to wear you out.

Sunny...good job with Amy's Hi/lo yesterday...I didn't get that one. Have a nice 6 miler and fun watching DS scrimmage.

Lorie...Imax2 is a fun one...good workout yesterday.

Wendi...hope you get to squeeze in Imax2...

I am planning on a KB leg mish-mosh, maybe KPC/L&G but not sure yet...

Have a great day..:)

Carole: I would normally poke DH when he snores but felt bad cause he had to get up way early this morning and I know he hasn't been feeling well. He finally caught the cold I've had for 2 friggen months now!x( I could have used ear plugs about 10 years ago. I dated a guy who snored on a regular basis and it was LOUD!!!! DH only snores occassionally and it's not loud but is *always* annoying. LOL

Lori: So what's your new username going to be?

I have some housework to do and I'm stalling. I need to wash the kitchen and bathroom floors, vacuum and clean my bathroom. It won't take long once I get moving but I am seriously lacking in motivation at this point. :p

Perhaps another cup of coffee will help!}(

Happy Saturday All!

Just finished finalizing the Thanksgiving Menu (I’m cooking tomorrow instead of Thursday as DD18 was supposed to go visit her mom for Thanksgiving and this way we could have a family meal. But as DD18 has not heard from said mom (poor DD18 – her mom is such a witch), she’ll be here after all. But as we made plans to go to a friend’s house for Thanksgiving, we decided to keep the dinner tomorrow night anyway. I’ll brine the turkey tonight. And I’m planning for Turkey Noodle Soup on Monday. :+ Today will most likely be an 8 mile trail run, followed by shopping and cooking.

Cathy - Sounds like a plan to me! I like getting together and opening our gifts on line – it’s more fun that way. I think that date works for me. I may be hung over, but that’s okay (my company Christmas party is the night before). I think you picked a good EXT.

Sunny – I do appreciate that push. I’ve been hearing mixed reviews about Sweatfest KB, so I’ve held off – maybe I’ll try it since you like it! When is your half? I think a 6 mile run is fine. I never ran further than 10 miles before my half.

Lori – Enjoy (?) work. I like HCE Extreme, but I have to admit I’m not a fan of Imax 3. It’s not the impact, as I don’t think it’s much worse than Imax 2 (just less rest), it’s the step portions. Don’t know why. Hope you’re feeling better now! That’s good about Walmart! :+ Yes, I did do BC x 2. It was part of the August ’05 rotation, and whenever I really need a good push, I think of it. I do change some of the upper body exercises to be more balanced, too.

Jackie – I don’t blame you for wanting to do as little walking as possible! You’ll do great! And yes, enjoy this one. Is this the last? You’ve been impressive girl!!! I’ll be cheering you on tomorrow! Go enjoy your rest day and massafe.

Judy – Enjoy your workout – a walk with a friend sounds wonderful

Wendy – I sorry you have a tough road ahead of you. You know we’re here for you, and understand the need to refrain from publically broadcasting things. (((HUGS))) That is a great idea. I have workouts all over the place – and it’s getting obnoxious. I don’t really need the cases. I may have to do that as well.

Carole – Enjoy your KB Leg mish mosh! No clue about SAR (S&R – the “official abbreviation :+). I’m thinking that I might go to the trainings as a volunteer to provide fresh “meat” to hide. I can even show up later and do a completely “blind” hide for the dogs (the dogs will not ever meet me, so it will be like finding a real subject in the wilderness). I can also volunteer to run trails over lunch or something, if it’s fairly close. Then I can start Jimmy to see how he does. The initial training does not take a lot of time.

Well, time for me to get my butt in gear. DH isn’t up yet. If he waits too much longer, I may not want to do the trail run just in the interest of time (and the fact that I have HSC and KBX in my hot little hands and I’m dying to try them!). We’ll see. :p

Good morning cheetahs! Well, for the first time I declined to participate in a race I had definitely planned on doing. Good sense has finally prevailed with me;-) My ankle is still a little sore from when I landed on it wrong a while ago and I didn't think it was worth it racing on it so close to my marathon. All last nite as I was laying out my gear and clothes my little inner voice was naggin
"you shouldn't be doing this" Well, this morning when the alarm clock went off and I got out and tested my foot, the inner voice won.
I will be running today but at a nice easy pace.... probably 10 miles. Later I'll get in some good core work:)

Wendy- Major cyberhugs to you sweetie!!! It pains me greatly to see that you are troubled. I am glad you have a good friend to confide in and give you strength. Actually, you appear to have a good strong network of friends and family there for support so I'm confident you'll be okay in the end however this turns out.
Too cute about the "retail therapy".... that's our Wendy! ;-)
BTW, I'm an expert on sleeping with snorers. My DH is the world's champion in that department!! I use the Hearos soft polyurethane plugs.... very comfortable and extremely effective!!

Cathy- Thanks for the Christmas card list!!! You have to work on a Saturday? Yikes... teachers never seem to get a break! Hope you get in a good workout today.

Sunny- Have a great 6 miler today. Don't blame you for opting out of the longer run today.... I'm a cold weather weenie myself ;-)
Re: Amy's hi lo workout with the Bosu.... I was going to buy this one and use the step instead.... is this feasible? I really don't want to invest in more fitness equipment.

Lori- Have a great rest day and I hope your work day isn't passing too slowly... Bummer that your boss won't let you go for the Christmas decorations yet!

Jackie- I hope you get a really nice medal or some other great award for completing this monster road race series!!! Have fun tomorrow and take it easy!

Judy- You live in an absolutely beautiful area of the country! Lots of lakes, etc. I've been contemplating going there for a visit next June before going to NJ to see the in-laws. Sounds like a fun easy workout day for ya.

Carole- Have fun with the KB mishmosh... not doing Amy's????

Lorie- Having a better day? You are certainly due for one!!!!!!

Christine- posting at the same time! I brined my turkey for the first time last year. Made quite a difference, very moist and yummy.
the KBext will give you a great alternative to the trail run if that's what you opt for!

I'm feeling better and better as I type about not doing this race.
Played it smart for a change! ;-)

Shelly - you snuck in there too! :p I think you made the right decision on the race. The last thing you want to do is hurt yourself before your marathon. Enjoy your easy 10 mile run. We'll see about the trail run vs. KBX. Depends on DH and the time. Oh - oh Amy's Hi/lo Dome - if you watch the previews, she actually has one exerciser doing the Dome part on a step. I'm like you - especially a $100 purchase - I just can't justify it as badly as I want to! :+

Good morning cheetahs, I am chugging some green tea right now and just enjoying having nothing planned today. I am so maxed on responsibilites right now that I feel my head is going to explode. I went to all 3 of my girls conferences and they all had great report cards and they are all doing so well socially. I am so lucky that my children are so wonderful. Again, I may be taking that all back in a few days when they start driving me nuts. They are all home now until the 26th.

CAthy, that is SO funny that that was you that called me. It did not wake me in the night. I came downstairs in the morning and noticed my phone was beeping and I did not recognize the number, so that is why I called it. I never imagined it was you.

Sunnydelite, enjoy your 6 mile run!

Lori, enjoy your rest day

Jackie, enjoy your rest day also and your massage, ahhhhhhh

Judy, have fun on your walk. Hopefully it is a beautiful day out like it is here in Sunny California:)

Wendy, what a great idea about the cd case. I am sorry to hear about the stress you have in your life right now. I hope you find some resolution with that soon.(HUGS)

CArole, a kickbox mish mosh sound fun! I like to do the KPC drills only and then the power circuit dvd from CTX. It is a real high intensity workout and it is about 55 minutes with the warmup. BTW, your floors look GREAT!!!! I bet you are so glad to have it done. Any more home projects coming up for you guys or are you taking a little break? We are going to start re-doing all the trim in the house. It is a big project because the house is so big, but I love the look of the newer thicker trim. Enjoy your workout!

Christine, Turkey soup sounds wonderful. I am in such a soup mood lately. In fact we are all going to Eric's delicafe for lunch so I can get there tomato basil soup, YUM!!!! Let us know what you think of KBX. The first time I did it I was definitley worked out, but also anxious to do it again so I could learn it. How is Jimmy doing?

Shelly, I am SO proud of you for listening to your body. I know sometimes it is so hard to not do the workout or run, but your body will be thanking you for it. I love the pic from yesterday. You have a such a great smile you little poser;-) Hope you enjoy your "leisurely" 10 mile run(LOL)!

Well ladie, I have got to get off this rather large hiney of mine and get my workout in. I will be doing the Elliptical for 30 mintes and all of GS legs. I am determined not to have DOMS from this again for 3 days}(

BTW ladies, I posted my wish list last night.

Have a great day friends!

Susan

shelly- the hi/lo portion is done without the dome and then she has a premix dome only workout. i believe it can be done on the step. also just fyi- i bought the sport version of the bosu from fwonline for $55.00. good job listening to your body!

cathy, ok, thanks! the dr. started me out on 40mg, i guess they didn't want to be so aggressive while starting out. if it doesn't start working this month then they are going to move me to 60mg. i am really hoping this is my breakthru month. fingers crossed....

jackie- thanks, ds did pretty good today. good luck tomorrow with your race!!

carole- thanks! enjoy your KB mish-mosh today!!

lori- nope, no 12 miles for me today. the cold affects my lungs also. not sure what i was thinking when i decided to do my first HM in december????

susan- lol, i know how you feel about the kiddies they are so sweet and lovable however there are those times when they leaving you scratching your head wondering what you go yourself into...:7

wendy- i love your idea about the cd case...might need another trip to target, even though i went last night}( :p :D

christine- my half is on 12/1. i know i don't need to run more than 10 miles for it, however i think i would have felt better just know i could do it. i am happy with my decision to do less mileage today.

judy- so how are you enjoying your spinning classes? i absolutely love spinning. wish i could fit in the classes a little bit more. i sure do miss them.
