Mornin', cheetah babes!! http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/greetingsandsigns/th_computer2.gif

Finally the temperature has dropped, and we've returned to normal fall weather here in the Northeast. Ahhh!
http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/th_fallingleaves.gif

Wendi :: Knowing that your boss/friend is on the heavy side explains somewhat his attitude in thinking that the running's contributing to your injury. When you said that, I kind of suspected that he might not be a regular exerciser. I think anyone who is would understand that some activities would exacerbate certain injuries while others do not. But as we've all said here, you're fit and fabulous, so I hope you've let his commments roll right off...enjoy your run today!

OK, that was an easy catchup. :)

I'd like to get in a run this afternoon, too, but I have to have a Plan B. Mid-marking period is tomorrow, so in all likelihood, I'll have to work late today. Depending on when I get home, I'll either hit the bricks or do some k'boxing.

Have a GREAT day!!

hi there, cheetahs! well, i am feeling much less doms today and will be attempting an iTread. i really hope i can keep up with grace after being gone for a while. i am just going to do whatever i can do and try not to stress about it.

cathy-no fun that grades are due today. i think our teachers had to turn in grades yesterday. we have been in school since the secind week of auguts, so i believe this is the nine week marking period. we are still not experiencing cool weahter but the forecasters promise it will be coming tomorrow. it will be in the 80's once again today. ugh!

okay, i am off to get suited up for my *date* wiht grace. i just have to decide which one to do...

i'll be back later. i hope everyone is having a great morning!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

Greetings :)

Cathy- I am really liking the cooler temps too. It was just weird to have mid 80's around here but shorter daylight hours. The good side is my tomato plant is still producing tomatoes! They will need to ripen in the window though.

Lorie- Ok how did it go with you and Grace?

I have a 2 mile run on tap. Nice easy day, unless I decide to run those two miles with Grace.... Then it is off to CBS and back home to get some preparations done for the crew, aka family. Yesterday I cleaned out my closet and brought a large amount of items to a consignment shop and another large amount to be donated. Now it is a joy to enter my closet. :7

Good morning Cheetahs!

Well, unfortunately the weather altered my plans a little today. It was still raining at 5:45 (when I need to head out if I run in the am) and step and kb is still out so today is a rest day unless I'm fortunate to have an early day...which is HIGHLY unlikely. It's probably a good thing I have a very long riding list today to make up for it. The good news is that there are no after-effects from doing SS last night with regards to my injury, although I do have some decent DOMS in my hammies for some reason.

Cathy - Thank you for the cheerful start to our thread today! And thanks again for the kind words...you gals are really wonderful, you know that right?! How are you feeling? I hope that bug is just about gone. Sorry you might have to work late today.

Lorie - Enjoy your *date*! Please don't kill yourself the first time back, okay? I'm sure you'll be back to kicking Grace's arse in no time!

I've got to go for now. I need to return an email from my MIA father that I received last night. The only time I hear from him is when I send a card for some occasion/holiday *rolls eyes*. Have a great one everybody!

i am running back in for a second before i go to work to report that my first day back on the tread was tough, tough, tough. i had to straddle the threadmill more times than i would have liked. i did iTread #14/60 and ran 6 miles in 52 minutes. i waled for another 8 minutes so i ended up covering 6.6 miles. but...i really felt it in my chest and definitely was not where i was when i left off (although i didn't expect to be). i ran at mostly runners' speed but had to take it down quite a few times. well...at least i got over that first run after being off. hopefully, i will improve again as i do it more. i'm not going to get nervous for my half-marathon...yet.

okay, off to work! be back later!

Good Morning Ladies!

I’m nice and lazy this morning. It’s raining and chilly and a perfect day for snuggling under the covers and continuing in sleep, even though I’m up! I’m thinking I’ll make some soup tonight or chili. :+ I guess I’ll get my lazy butt off the chair and do some cardio today – not sure what, though. Maybe some kickboxing or spinning.

Cathy – you’re in a very creative mood lately! Love the thread titles! I’m a big fan of fall! I adore the leaves, etc. Even here in Cali, when the temps start to drop, I get all excited. Then I look at my wardrobe and realize I have NOTHING to wear! Sighs. Enjoy your run or alternative workout!

Lorie – That’s a great workout!! ! And no, if you can run like that after being down flat for a week, you’ll be fine for your half!

Judy – enjoy your nice and easy run. Great job on the closet! Doesn’t it feel great to clean those out? I did that last weekend, now I have nothing to wear. LOL

Wendi – first, I have to explain the ice cream comment. There’s a part of Eoin Finn’s Yoga for Happiness where he has the class in a pigeon pose, then you go down and put the opposite shoulder on the floor. It’s a very intense stretch, but he’s trying to explain that it should feel good, not hurt. He says, “It should feel like ice cream being licked off your body.” I chuckle every time he says that. Although he’s a cutie, if he ever offered, I’ve have to think twice! Glad SS was kind to your injury! Sorry you have to skip your run – I’m in the same boat with the rain.

Enjoy your day Ladies! I’ll try to be BBL!!

Cathy: I agree, the seasonal weather is going to be a welcome change. Imagine it being COOL in the fall! WHOA, who'd of thunk it! :7

Lorie: I'm sure you did better with Grace today then you figured you would and it will only get better from here. :)

Judy: The only time I clean out my closet or drawers is to make room for NEW STUFF!!! When are you going shopping? :7

Wendi: Good luck getting your riding list conquered for today. Enjoy the hamstring DOMS too. }(

Christine: Enjoy your day. Your HM is this weekend, right?

I have BBC Arms and Abs on tap for today. This means it's the worst of the cardio torture in the series! YIKES! I am only slightly aware of my thighs this morning after y'day's work out. I don't think it will be bad today. Is that a good or a bad thing? LOL

It's gettin' late so I have to finish getting ready for work now.

I'll be back this afternoon!

Have a good one!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...Yes we did get more of the floor done. Just the kitchen left but that should be tough as we will be moving the fridge around...LL is great torture and no DOMS...yet. Where in the world did you find that nasty pic anyway?..:)..Glad to hear BF is frustration free for you! Good job with the extra riser and heavier weights. Hope you won't have to work too late tonight.

Judy...I sure could stand to clean out some of my closets, that is great you did that.

Lorie...I used gels for a long time and actually Accelerade gel was not too bad, and it also has some protein in it. But when I tried the chewy things, they were so much less sweet that they were more tolerable. And many stores sell the Sport beans compared to the gels...I can see how the pieces of Power bar would also work well. Good job with Grace. i think you did great after being sick and the time off, it'll come back...:)

Christine...very interesting comment in Finn's Yoga???...We got rain too last night. A clap of thunder scared poor Sadie right off the bed and under it! I think I will be safe to run, but I run in the rain anyway...enjoy your workout, whatever you decide on.

Wendy...have fun with Barry today. I also thought I would have some leg DOMS...?

Sunny...I ended up doing Leaner Legs instead of PLB yesterday...no DOMS yet...:)...3 miles in 90 degrees!!!...wow...

Wendi...good job with the SS workout. I understand completely people that think you might be too fit...silly, and I also looked at your pic...your boss is crazy you look great! I remember one of my clients DH's said to her after she told him I ran 26.2 miles he said "People don't run that far"..??...so where has he been!! I don't think you would have any trouble keeping up with the cheetahs...:)...Enjoy your rest day.

I am doing GS triceps, abs and a 4 mile run...

Have a great day...:)

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

Hey Ladies! Back quickly. I ended up doing Cardio Fusion skipping the drill max part and following it with Yee's Power Yoga for flexibility. I'm feeling good. I forgot how much I love Body Max 2! Can't wait to add it back into my rotation.

Wendy - enjoy BBC Arms and Abs and the cardio - you go girl! I did that once and decided that I prefer Cathe for Cardio. LOL

Carole - I've run in the rain, too, but it's already dark at 5:30AM - if it's raining, then it's REALLY dark and I trip over things. So, I usually skip it. I do want to get in one run this week, though, so most likely tomorrow I'll do a three miler.

Have fun, all - I need a shower!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

Good morning ladies,
It is a rainy day here in CA. I would love to go back to bed and sleep all day. Oh well, a girl can dream;-) I do have a free day though. My Mariah is going home with a friend after kindergarden, so I am free until 3:00 today. I am going to do the elliptical for 45 minutes and then lower body lying leg work from legs and glutes and abs from cardio and weights. I think I might check out the mall for a little shopping later. I have not been in awhile. I need some sweaters for winter. I have tons of jeans, but very few sweaters.

Cathy, have a great day and a great workout! How are you feeling? Do you have any more tests to be done?

Lorie, that was a pretty fast run! Glad you got it in:)

Judy, I love the feeling of a clean and organized closet. It is like have a new wardrobe. Enjoy your 2 miler:)

Christine, I also love Body max 2 and Cardio fusion. I feel so accomplished at the end. I am right there with you about staying in bed and snuggling under the covers.

Wendi, Sorry you did not get your run in today, dang rain!

Wendy, You have me thinking about doing BBC next week. I am trying to go heavier, but I could alternate weekly with endurance and heavy...hm Have fun with that cadio segment}(

CArole, that is great your floors are almost done. I hate when my house is in transition mode, but the change is always worth it. Have a good run!

Okay ladies, I am off to start the day with NO KIDS!!!!!!!!

Cheers!

Susan

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

Good morning to all the beautiful and fit cheetahs!! Well, I'm pretty much back to normal today with regards to the post monster race soreness:7 so I'll go for a run today:7 :7 :7 It'll be a relaxed pace 6 miler in rolling hill countryside (my favorite running route)

Cathy- I hope you can squeeze in your run today and the workload isn't too bad for you.

Wendi- Glad to hear that your rib injury is feeling better, especially after your SS workout yeaterday. I hope your workday isn't too long for you, my goodness you do put in the long hours don't you?

Christine- Hey, what is doggy day camp anyway? Is it like a day kenneling or is it training also? I may take Spanky with me on the run today. Maybe it'll tire her out so she won't be such a handfull at the vet today. Nice job with the Cardiofusion w/o!

Wendy- That's great news that your DH may be able to be with you on your first HM!!! It's a big milestone for you and I think it's important that someone be there for you. I hope it happens!
Good luck with the BBC A&A workout today.... personally I think this one is the toughest of the lot.

Carole- The dentist trip yesterday was for a crown, broke a tooth a while ago x( Note to self.... do not attempt to eat anything other than soup while your mouth is still numb. I ended up chewing
up a good portion of my lip without even realizing it and it's still swollen today! I have a question for you re: Gels and other such things. I have a hard time with these and other things like shockblocks, sports beans, etc. They are just so darn sweet that they make me sick to my stomach on long runs. I just find it hard to tolerate them. Have you discovered any that aren't so sweet?

Jackie- Great job on your iTread yesterday. I'm so impressed you could do this so soon after that grueling 10 miler on Sunday!!!!!

Susan- I am so with you on not feeling like I've really worked out unless I've done cardio! I'm struggling to overcome this as well and rethink this strategy. Wow, a day to yourself.... and shopping as well!!!! Our Susan is in heaven!!

Judy- Yes, I did go to work Sunday nite after Saturdays race. I didn't notice I had scheduled myself that way until it was too late x( but I actually managed well!! Fortunately it was a pretty relaxed slow night. Your neighborhood running route sounds like mine! Lots of killer hills:eek: Congratulations on the closet cleaning. That's always a chore I dread and put off!

Lorie- My goodness girl, you didn't give yourself much of a break with your return to the TM!!! That time for 6 miles was pretty much a race pace! Cut yourself a little slack there, you'll be "back into the groove" shortly!!

SunnyD- I am so glad to hear that your workload is easier for you now!! Your ordeal with running 3 miles in the 90 deg weather really gives you an appreciation for what those poor Chicago marathoners went through!

Okay, enough cyberbabble, time to get geared up and head outside. I'll also be doing Lowmax today and this afternoon I'll be taking the "kids" to the Vet.

Hello Cheetahs! Sorry for ANOTHER quick post. So far this week is not shaping up very well. Luckily, DD's pink eye is doing much better. Thanks for all of your well wishes for her! You all are a great bunch of caring ladies. Yesterday I had every plan of going on a 2-3 mile run during lunch but 30 minutes before I left work a terrible migraine came on. Luckily I know when mine comes on so I can stop it. Unfortunately, I had to spend my lunch hour resting so I could go back to work to finish my work day. The rest of the day my head was tender and sensitive to noise, but nothing like if I had endured a full migraine. Anyway, today will be a better day and I hope to fit in a short 2-3 miler. The weather has finally turned seasonable here. YEAH!

I'm hoping I will have time to come back later and catch up with everyone! Have a great day!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

shelly-you are sooooo right about cutting myself some slack. it always amazes me how proud i am of other people doing the littlest things but so hard on myself. for example, a friend of mine is just starting to work out and she has gone from walking a mile in 26 minutes to 23 minutes. i could not be prouder of her and think that's awesome, but yet, i would not be proud of myself. obviously, all of us are way past being that slow, but you get my point. like i will look at myself and think i need to loose weight, but not think that of someone else who clearly could stand to lose weight.

why must we always be our own worst critic?

anyhoo, i am with you and susan on the cardio thing. i just don't feel like i've worked out unless i do cardio and i know that is absolutely not true. i need to start changing my thinking.

Good afternoon cheetahs,

sorry for the short post but i am short on time and want to try to keep posting with the best bunch of ladies ever:D

shelly- it is a very sad situation with what happened in chicago. as far as my workload i have learned to say no...somewhat.:p

today's workout was a 20 min hilly iclimb (whew) a 30 min swim and in a bit will do S&H chest and back.

have a good one cheetah babes!!!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

HI Cheetahs-
I'm just finishing up a yummy lunch (4 c. salad greens toped with roasted red peppers, black eyed peas, salsa and a bit of shredded cheese)

Kristi- Thank goodness you nipped that migraine quickly.

Carole- Moving the 'frigde is never easy, but when you get that new floor it will be well worth it. DD an I had to move our full China cabinet on Sunday to get the chipmunk that Crosby brought in and let go. x( x( x(

Shelly- now you are doing a 6 mile run and lo max? Seriously, how do you do it? Good luck at the vet.

Christine- I have trouble with the pigeon pose to begin with and when Eionn say the ice cream line I always think yea right buddy! NOT!

Lorie- Well the first run post bronchitis is behind you. They can only get better now. Are you done with the Prednisone course of treatment?

Wendy- I like having less choices for daily clothes, but I am in need of some going out type of outfits. I'll be keeping my eyes open. DD (16 yo) needs a new coat. We will have fun picking her out one. And I'll probably get some new boots ( sexy boots, not snow boots) We did just have a pretty expensive shopping trip in Manhattan in August. DH is still getting over the shock. (Think of 3 of us buying Lucky jeans at the Lucky store on the same day, not to mention 4 pair of shoes between the three of us, two dressier dresses etc....)

Susan- Enjoy your free time today!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

Christine...luckily with my schedule I can run about 8:00 as I would NOT run in the rain and dark (unless I used my headlamp!!), which my DH stole for duck hunting. Good job with Cardio Fusion. I love BM2 also and have really started liking LIC for the fast pace...

Susan..yes, the transition mode is driving me crazy!! Enjoy your EXT and leg workout. Have fun shopping too.

Shelly...sorry about the crown and numb mouth. I have done the same thing numb...duh! I don't think the "Sharkies" are very sweet. I also did not think the Accelerade gels were real bad. I know Hammer Gel has a plain gel without much flavor at all, maybe check that one out. A run and Lowmax?..Yep, you are recovered...:)

Kristi...sorry about the migraine...:(...Glad you know how to stop it from getting real bad. So glad DD's pink eye is getting better...

Sunny...sounds like a well rounded workout.

Judy...OMG! a chipmunk in your house? I hope it was easy to get out. I just know I will love this floor once it is all done...:)

I did run in a bit of rain and wind, not real bad. I did 5 miles under a 10 min pace and I have not done that for 5 miles in a long time...:)...I go into work a bit late so I am going to find a rug for the floor by the front door and check into some cleaning supplies for the laminate. For any of you with laminate, what do you use to clean it?...thanks...:)

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

Hello again, back from my run. I held it to 5 miles since I do want to take my pit bull Spanky out for a run later and it would be a bit much to expect her to do 6 miles right off the bat. Pit bulls aren't really made for running anyway, unlike Christines Aussie, Jimmy. I'll take her out this afternoon for a 1-2 mile walk/run and hopefully tire her out!! In a bit I'll be heading downstairs for some Lomax.... haven't done this one for a while and am looking forward to it. I had a pretty nice run with no serious discomfort which is quite encouraging. I also averaged a 9:45 pace so I'm pretty happy with that.

Lorie- Yes, like you I am by far my own worst critic which is why this check in is so valuable.... helps to slap some sense into me sometimes ;-)

Kristi- Glad to hear your little one is doing better with the pink eye! Sorry about the migraine attack disrupting your running plans. :( But at least you got a handle on it before it got out of control.

SunnyD- Nice "brick" workout!!!

Judy- your description of your lunch has me drooling:9

Carole- Thank you so much for your advice re: gels and such. I think I will check out the sharkies and order some. I have quite a few more long distance runs coming up and I'd really like to find something that agrees with my system!!

Later y'all

ShellyC

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

More personals!

Susan – YES, a lovely day to crawl back under the covers. Although it’s nice now. Typical California, eh? Enjoy your free day! Shopping!!! How fun!

Shelly – we’ll just have to get you an Aussie! (another addition to your already crowded menagerie, eh?) Doggie Day Camp is basically taking your dog to an off leash dog park all day. Jimmy gets to romp and play with other dogs all day long and comes home exhausted. My motto in dog rearing is that a tired dog is a good dog. :+ Enjoy your run with Spanky! Yeah, pitbulls aren’t designed to run far, but they sure are cute! Great job on the run! Glad you’re not too sore. Of course, as you are made out of steel, I did not expect less. ;)

Lorie – I know what you mean about being our own worst critic. And yes, I cheer on my friends who are doing 15 minute miles while running, but would be ashamed if I ran that slow. But I think that’s a matter of knowing what I can do. I just try not to beat myself up if I have an off day, because heck, I’m out there getting exercise when the majority of folks are not. And I feel better when I do cardio – so I’m another cardio freak. :p Trying to change my thinking, too.

Kristi – glad DD’s pink eye is better! YEAH! Sorry about the migraine, but glad it was not a full blown one! Hope you get in your run!

Sunny – glad you’re learning to say no (even sort of). Sounds like a fabulous workout! Thanks for posting!

Judy – lunch sounds fabulous! I’m on my way! :+ That line and the one when we’re in down dog and he says that it should feel like warm hands are caressing your back (or something like that), I always have a comment or two. DD14 laughs at me whenever I do yoga, especially with him. I like the pigeon pose, but whenever I go to my shoulder I have these fears of never being able to get back up (although I’ve never had a problem). I kind of have visions of being carted off to the emergency room while twisted as a pretzel.

Carole – I have a headlamp, but I have no idea where DH buried it. He rearranges the garage every week and I have no clue where anything is! I like the bonus combo of LIC a lot. It’s fun. Glad you got in a good run!

Well, I’m off to feed Jimmy. Have a great day!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

Hi Girls.

I haven't worked out yet. *sob* I am feeling like I might be getting sick again which lead me to be lazy but now I am kicking myself for it! I am hoping to do something later on after DH gets home though. I don't know why I do this to myself!x(

I am taking Airborne again so hopefully whatever this icky feeling is that I have will not take hold this time!!!!

I have a wedding to go to on friday night that I am not enthused about. If I am sick I won't have to go. Maybe I should stop taking the Airborne!? ;) LOL

Alrighty...I'll be back later for personals.

Toodles!

RE: ::: CHEETAHS ::: run for the hill of it on hump day...

Hi ladies,
I lied. I did scrambled eggs from Body max2 instead of the elliptical. Holy mother of sheep!!!! It was really really tough! I got through it though and now I am off to shop(teehee). I am darn right giddy today guys having this time to myself.

I'll be back later and let you know how the shopping went!
