::: CHEETAHS ::: Monday

RunninTeach

Cathlete
Good morning, girls ~ hope our West Coast cheetahs had smooth return flights home (with NO delays this time) and a good night's sleep!

How is everyone this morning?

Today was supposed to be a yoga only day, but I plan to run to make up somewhat for the two I missed this weekend. Then I need to transport the futon to school and will spend a few hours this morning unpacking boxes and starting to set up the room. Might as well since I'm there. It'll be a busy morning.

Amy :: glad that you figured out Picture Trail. What a good-looking couple you are! Thanks for sharing those lovely new pics.

For anyone who didn't get a chance to read yesterday's thread, I posted two pics of our meet-up with the RT cheetahs. (Wendy and Gayle have some in their Picture Trail/Photo Bucket, too.)

Have a great day, everyone...BBL...

Hi Cheetahs !

Cathy-I did see your pictures. It must have been a real charge to meet up with the cheetahs and other Cathe fans. :7

The anniversary weekend went well. My MIL was truly a bride for a weekend. Several of their friends/ family traveled from Florida, Ohio, Washington and our DD of course from NY.

This is the taper week (3-4 easy runs) of a Smart Coach plan for a 10K. I have no plans to race. I'd like to start a new plan next week but am not sure what yet. The past 8 weeks I did so many runs with HR restrictions, not according to the plan, pace wise. But I did do the mileage. After reading Runners World this month, and seeing the arguments for running fast to get fast etc, I will make some runs tempo and perhaps do some speed work (on the treadmill)

How do you all schedule your training? Does everyone train for and run races? Or does anyone here run primarily for improved fitness?

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

Good morning all:

I can't wait to go back and read all the posts I missed this weekend and catch up on everyone's RT stories, etc. :7

I had an extremely busy weekend (imagine that  ). I have a board meeting tonight, so I'll be at work from 7AM to probably 9 or 10PM. YUCK!@!x( x(

I'll be back after I get in to work to catch up!

Ta-Ta for now.
Marcia.

Hi Judy,

Glad the anniversary weekend was a good time for all...Yes, it was fun to meet up, though time was limited. We all agreed a cheetah GTG would be a blast.

At this time, I am running just for fitness. I need to lose a bit more fat, so although I have done an occasional 5K here or there, I don't have that much interest in racing right now. I think I will enjoy it again when I can be competitive with my old times. For now, it is only about the calorie burn, the stress release, and the pure enjoyment of running. I have been considering either doing a bridge 10K or the half marathon with Wendy and her friend in November but have not made up my mind yet.

marcia- hopefully the rest of the week won't be as busy for you.

Good morning Cheetahs! It looks like everyone had a great time on the RT and meeting up with the other cheetahs! I'm glad everyone had a wonderful time. The pics are great. Everyone looks so fit.

I just got back from dropping DS off for his first day of kindergarten. No crying mom here! He was so excited and felt right at home when DH and I walked him to his class and got him settled. I'm really glad for that. He never cried or asked me to stay, which indicates to me that he is very ready to start the new adventure of learning. I could not be prouder.

Anyway, I don't need to be at work until 1 because I took a 1/2 day off. Today is the beginning of my tweaked classic P90X rotation, again. I plan to do C&B, ARX, and a short 3 mile run since I have so much time this morning before I need to get ready for work.

Well, I'm off to get my workouts finished. I will try to check in later. Waves to all Cheetahs! Have a great day cheetahs!

Hey Cheetahs!:) Love the RT pics!! Such a cool thing that you wonderful ladies scattered all over the States could come together for such a positive and fun gathering, what a blessing:)
I'm back to work today, the sad part is that my finger nails are lovely but I have to cut them to nubs for work. It's been nice to be able to scratch, pick up dimes, paint them....My 13 yo Faith has been fascinated with my hands as she can't remember me ever having long nails. Not sure what my workout will be, too bloomin' hot to run so I'm thinking Kickbox and upper body.

Cathy, that does sound like a busy day, hope you get it all in. Thanks for posting the pics, you all are a nice looking group!

Judy, I'm just running for fun and fitness these days. I enjoyed training for my half last summer but it's been nice to just run for the love of it.

Marcia, you've got a long day ahead of you! I'm really looking forward to RT stories as well.

Sunny, wow! you've been busy already today! Good on ya:)

Kristi, I hear you! I never understood the whole crying Mom thing, I was as excited for my Babes to go to school as they were to get there. Happy, lively kids are what the world needs more of, you are right to be proud of you son.

I feel like there's butt glue on my chair but I should get up and get going (after I check out the Open forum for RT stories:))

Take Care

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Today's plan is a Cathe work out for sure! How can I do anything else after actually getting to meet her y'day!? I am thinking I am going to pull out LIC today! After surviving Drill Max last Monday, LIC should be a snap! ;)

I don't work today so I will probably take Joey to the park for a bit this morning unless I hear it's supposed to be deadly outside. We haven't been to the park in several weeks! It's time we go back!:7

Ok, I'm outta here for now...I'll be back later!:)

Hey guys! Happy Monday!

Judy-I've been taking a break from running for a few reasons. First, my TM is down...as in it's in 5 pieces right now! lol Second, the kids are now home all day so I don't have any ME time to get outside. Third, I just wanted a break. BUT.....I've got a Team Relay Marathon on Sept 9th and my leg is 6 miles (and I'll be speed-walking the last leg with my friend, which is 4+ miles). So I'll be informally training soon!

I wish I could join Shelly in Vegas, but finances will tell me NO NO NO! lol

OK...kids are sitting RIGHT HERE waiting for the PC! LOL Back to the REAl world!

Onward and forward. I've got a fire lit under my butt from this past weekend! Today marks a new start. A step up. And I'm excited! I used the RT to clear my head of my recent break up from my fiance, and it really helped!

This morning I got up a bit early and hit the basement. I was up in the air last night on what workout to do, so I decided to wait to see how I felt this morning. I was tight and a bit sore, so I chose Rodney Yee's Power Yoga Total Body. Felt AWESOME! It always surprises me when I sweat during this yoga workout.

Good morning Cheetahs!

I had all intentions of doing an early morning run today! But when that alarm went off at 6:30 - and then 7:30 - and I still could not get up until 8:30! So now I am still out of it.

I will have a rest day today I guess! :(

I have lots of cleaning and laundry to catch up on - that is good exercise I guess!

I am so happy for you Road Trippers. What an incredible experience you had. I am sure that Cathe was everything that you could ever imagine she was! She is quite the knockout! Actually - everyone is gorgeous! The Crew and Road Trippers! WOW.

Ok ladies - will check in later. I need my coffee!!!!!!

Take care,
Amy :)

I'm back! C&B and ARX are complete. I need a break before I tackle a short run, maybe 2 miles. My chest and back feel like jello. I guess that is a good thing.

Cathy - I would love to do a Vegas HM. However, I will need to wait a month or so before committing. My running has been sporadic at best, but I'm working it into my P90X rotation. In a month or two I should know if I am up for another HM. It would be so much fun to run with other cheetahs, or they can wait for me at the finish line since I am so slow.

Judy - Lately my running has been for fitness only. However, I seem to run better with a race in mind.

Amy - Sounds like your body needed a rest day. Enjoy it!!

Well, I'm off to run. I need to see how the weather is outside, maybe I can get a run in outdoors for a change. At 7:15 a.m., as I was dropping off DS, it was beautiful and not too hot yet.

I'll be back!! (said in my best Arnold voice)

Good morning Cheetahs!

Thanks Cathy, Gayle and Wendy for posting pics of the RT. Everybody just looks so darn good! Glad fun was had by all and hope everyone made it home safely.

Amy - I just love your pics! Thanks for sharing. Glad you got the Picture Trail thing figured out.

Cathy - Enjoy your run and your fun day at school. Won't be long now. These days are going by so fast. Don't think I would be able to make the Dec. 2 date. I have a vacation scheduled for Sept., Oct., Nov. and Dec. It's something to think about though.

Judy - Glad the anniversay went well. I'm following Hal Higdon's Half Marathon training schedule right now. I have races along the way that I fit in. Training for races has made running more fun for me after being burned out for awhile.

Marcia - Long day ahead of you. Hope it's not too bad for you.

Sunny - Nice workout today. Enjoy the pilates class.

Kristi - Glad you handled the first day of kindergarten so well. You have to be proud that DS did so well. Can't wait to hear how his first day went. Hope you got a good workout in.

Laurie - Butt glue!:7 What workout did you decide to do?

Wendy - Have fun at the park with Joey.

Gayle - Glad to hear the excitement about your workouts.

Today's workout was Muscle Endurance. My dvd kept losing the picture. I had to take it out a couple of times in order to complete the workout. That does it for me! No more buying Cathe workouts from the swap or ebay. Glad I don't have many of those.

Enjoy your day ladies.

Jackie

Good morning to my very special cheetah friends!!! This is the "hammy cheetah" checking in. OMG I am still a little shell shocked. It was an experience of a lifetime to say the least.
What an incredibly awesome experience. Getting to meet and be with some of the cheetahs here was every bit (if not more) exciting than the events of the RT itself and meeting Cathe.

I got home about 9:30 pm last night. Another delay leaving Philly(of course) but this time only 45 minutes. DH listened patiently(bless his heart) while I babbled on and on inanely about what a fabulous time I had.

Carole is just too funny and personable for words, she is so precious and definitely lives up to our nickname for her....
SUPERCarole!!

Susan- Our bottomless pit! I could listen to her talk all day. I'm still laughing over her description of how she eats a Snickers Bar... it's a real science :) She is absolutely beautiful, inside and out.

We shared a room together and I swear you would have thought we were a group of teenyboppers at a slumber party. After the exhausting workout days we had we were still yakking a mile a minute late at night!!!

I had already briefly met Wendy and Cathy and I was so excited that they came to visit anyway:7 :7 :7 Cathy- so thoughtful and intelligent. It was incredible treat to go shopping and have lunch with you. Wendy- (Yes, cheetahs..... the pics really don't do her justice) You are indeed a certified HOTTIE!!

It will probably take me a couple of days before I can get my act together enough to post some pics, but I do have some great ones to share with y'all.

Back for personals.

Back again... I only ran 2 miles outside. It was hotter than I had hoped for the run, but it was still nice to be outdoors for a change. I'm already showered and ready for work, even though I don't need to be there until 1. I'll try to come back later, but not sure if I will have time.

Amy - Great pics! Thanks for sharing.

Jackie - Sorry your DVD acted up. It is a shame when you buy something on ebay that sometimes it is not as it should be. It really makes it hard for the reputable sellers out there.

Hi to Shelly! Glad you had a wonderful time.

Hi there again.... it's the HAM;-)

Cathy- Thanks for posting the pics so soon. I love the one of us outside the 5 points diner. I think you can really see special connection we all have in that!!! You really have such a beautiful way with words, but then again I guess that's your profession. That isn't the first time I've been called "fearless"... I hear that alot I'm afraid. I guess alot of that is due to my profession also.
I'm really just as terrified of things as anybody else but I simply have trained myself over the years to not let it show. I'm a great faker!!! I do never hesitate to try anything new and I absolutely LOVE to take on a challenge. Which is why I love Cathe!!
I've always thought that Las Vegas would be a great place to meet.
I would be in heaven if there were other cheetahs there when I do my next marathon but that may be too soon for others to plan for.Maybe next year?

Judy- You have a very interesting question about training. The training plans for runners always are oriented for racing. If your goal is simply for fitness I don't think it is necessary really to put in speed work. I do see the value of a tempo run and a "long run" once a week to keep up endurance. How long is up to you.
So I'm thinking per week one or two "easy" runs, one "long" run, and one tempo run or interval run( but not real "fast" intervals. )

Marcia- Our busy busy cheetah! How's the diet and rotation plan going for you?

SunnyD- You are sounding well and strong as ever! I've been inspired after this work out to try out Pilates. Do you have any recommendations to start with?

Kristi- I'm glad to hear that you are keeping up with your current rotation with running and p90x! Great work.

Laurie- You gave me, Carole and Susan such a laugh with your description of the first pic I posted!!!!! You gave such wonderful descriptions of Gayle and Susan. Me? I'm the "ham"!!!!
I LOVE IT!! I can't begin to tell you the teasing I endured... but it was all in fun ;-) and hey.... it's the truth!!
LOL about the butt glue on the chair!!! You are too funny and I so hope to someday meet you in person too!!!

Wendy- I can't tell you how thrilled I was that you and Cathy got to meet Cathe and get a pic!!!! I meant to complement you on your latest 5 mile run you did before the weekend and forgot!! You'll be awesome in your upcoming HM.

Gayle- You have such an exhuberant delightful personality and I know you were busy spreading yourself around everywhere at the RT. You are indeed the very picture of health and I am so glad this gave you the mental boost you needed. I was so impressed when you talked with me about your upcoming relay. You are indeed the anchor and soul of your group and I hope you will post a pic of this!!!!!!!

Amy- That's wonderful that you have your picture trail up and running. What a beautiful gal you are!!!

Wow, I think I've cyberbabbled enough.... my finger pads are sore from typing!! For today it'll be GS legs, then out for catch up errands and shopping with DH. My pm workout will be an hour on the EXT. Tomorrow is a long run of 15 miles

Hello Cheetahs!

Cathy - Vegas would be awesome to meet up! Gotta love Vegas! Shelly I would love to see your marathon out there - but for me it may be too soon :( Still recovering from the Hawaiian expenses!

Judy - I hope you are getting some rest from the family weekend! Glad it was nice!

Marcia - I hope your work schedule will maybe lighten up this week so that you are not too tired! Good luck!

Sunny - I love Pilates! What an excellent core workout! One of my best friends teaches it and loves it! Denise Austin has a good at home DVD for this!

Kristi - Keep up the excellent rotation! Good for you!

Laurie - Did you enjoy your delicious cup of Joe today as I did? I know that you love coffee! :)

Wendy - Are you proud of my Picture Trail postings! I know - pretty pathetic!!!! It took me so long to finally spend the time to figure out how to do this.

Gayle - You were fabulous in all the pictures I saw of you (as everyone was!!!!!). I would love to meet you all someday!!!!!

Shelly - Good luck on that run tomorrow! :) Good for you!

I am off to work now, so everyone have a great day and night. Tomorrow is KickMax again! Great kick butt workout I must say!

Take care,
Amy

Good morning cheetahs!

Can you believe I made it home without one delay??!!! Neener, neener Shelly....

Cathy...First off, thank you so much for getting me at the Philly airport and all the help you gave to us out of town cheetahs. What you said about every one being so personable and down to earth is something I found so incredible at the RT. Meeting the cheetahs was so special to me, and yes another dimension to actually "meet" you all...:)..I was sooooooo glad you and Wendy joined us at the dinner and then surprised the YKW out of me when you showed up at breakfast. I LOVED the pic of you and Wendy with Cathe!! My one regret for your dancing buddy, is that we did not get to see him dance to Michael Jackson, and did you miss Fabio at the bar too???...Have fun with Yoga and getting ready for the school year. A GTG at Vegas???? Hey, I think I can run a half!

Gayle...I don't think I would have got in trouble with the speaker...but, why in the world did she keep pointing at me???!!!...:)...Cathy is right, you have beautiful skin and I saw a certain glow all the time. I was so happy to meet your friend Jean finally, she is a cutie...:)...I feel the same about a new start after the RT. I hope you might reconsider Las Vegas...we could have fun gambling...:)

Judy..it is true, you have to run faster to get faster. I do always plan some type of training before a race. I am not sure what race is next for me. I think Runner's World has the best training programs for all levels of runners.

Sunny...Good workout this morning.

Kristi...good luck with your tweaked P90X program, I seem to do those a lot...:)

Laurie...you got your nails done? How cool!!! I am trying to process all the RT fun...just an awesome weekend.

Wendy...so glad I finally got to meet you. I do wish we all could have spent some more time together. I know I could have got into a lot of trouble at the bar, if someone would have twisted my arm to consume an adult beverage...:)..Enjoy the park with Joey.

Amy...I am at this point finding it hard to find the right words to explain the RT (I could use Heather right now!!). Cathe and her crew seem like these exquisite porcelain dolls to me. They are all gorgeous!

Jacque...good job with MM. Sorry about the fading picture.

Shelly...hey HAMMY!!!! Your words to me after we said good bye at the airport did spark some tears....I had such a great time with you and Susan it was hard to say goodbye! OMG, the snicker bar consumption story. And you were definitely the boss of us...:)..enjoy your killer workout!

Even though I had the delays and cancellation of my flight getting to the RT, it was so worth the wait. Being in a workout room, doing what I love with all the other girls doing what they love was something I will NEVER forget, it was so much fun. Meeting Cathe and the crew made my weekend. Spending the time I did with Shelly and Susan was great, Shelly is right it was like a slumber party. Heather's scream at the dinner is something that I will never forget either. I have so many awesome memories swirling around in my head that it is tough to remember them all. I will get my pics here too...eventually...:)...any of you other cheetahs ever heard of Scraple?....

Susan.....hey, wakey wakey, are you still sleeping!!!! I crack up every time I remember Helga!! I am sure if we would have had our food then I would have spit out some scrambled eggs!! I bet it was great to be back with your girls and DH.

Well, after I actually wake up, I will do some kind of workout. Not sure what yet. I did think about a run, but not sure. I'll be back later...:)

Quick check in to say that I'm doing the San Jose Rock 'n Roll half again this year with my new running partner Jimmy. He LOVES running. We did 3 miles this morning and when we got back he was all bright eyed and bushy rumped (he doesn't have a tail) and kept coming up to me wiggling as if to say, "MOM!! THAT WAS FUN!!!" So, I'll bite the bullet. Ran 3 miles today, and then did Leaner Legs. Forgot how much that one hurts, but it's such a good pain... :+

I'm happy to hear all of the Road Trippers (and Road Tripper Visitors) had such a great time, and I have been reading the report and looking at the photos!! I'm soo jealous!!! Wish I could have been there with y'all.
