::: CHEETAHS ::: make the most of Monday!

susan-i agree with you about taking it down a notch. i think my body will thank me!

shelly-those pictures look INSANE! you are incredible...and coming in SECOND!!! you go, cheetah!!! you are so right about not needing to do that much mileage. i am looking forward to seeing what happens. yes, i did have a FANTASTIC weekend.

wendy-i agree that it may be difficult to take things down, but i also think i will feel a lot better and don't think it will really make a huge difference whether i run for 40 minutes or 60 minutes. i think i may actually be able to go faster because i'm not going as long.

christine-your plan sounds like a good one. glad you are feeling better. don't do too much.

lori-welcome! you are going to love this check-in. the women are AMAZING!!! i did wake up with a bit of the queasies. funny because i am SUCH a lightweight. i only had three light beers!

i hope everyone is having a great monday.

Good morning Cheetahs!

I know I will never catch up on the last few days but I'm skimming.

Lorie - I live about 45 miles from Dyersburg and about 60 miles from Memphis in Brownsville. How cool that your DF is from this area. My DD is a TN alumni. Hope counseling can help the mixed marriage. :)

Cathy - I will have to go back and read up on the gift exchange. Just can't seem to stay caught up on things. So glad you were able to go out and support Wendy. Love that.:) I should be good and ready for my HM after this course since it's supposed to be the toughest. I see you explained more about the gift exchange. Sounds like a good thing to me. I'll pm you my info later.

Wendy - My race was 10 miles yesterday. Your after meal sounds yummy and you deserved it girl! I feel your pain. At least you know you did an job and deserve that DOMS!

Sunny - That's great that you want to go back to school. It can only be a big plus for you.

Lori - Welcome! It's great to add another Cheetah Babe to Cheetahland.

Carole - My foot is fine today. It did that around mile 8 on both of the 10 mile races. Wondering if it's time for new shoes. I only have 200 miles on these. Hope you had a good run!

Judy - I took a hot bath yesterday after my race and I must say it did help. Hope the hip feels better.

Christine - I'm glad you feel better and you're able to get a workout in. Can you believe I have not had the time to open my workouts yet? And, I probably won't get the chance for a couple of weeks.

Susan - Hope you had a good workout.

Shelly - I just love the pics! Those stairs look daunting. But, I know they couldn't stop a Cheetah like you. Were you smiling when you finished?

I did 30 minutes of yoga today. That was all my body wanted to do. I got a little hungry yesterday during the race. I had packed the sport beans in my fuel belt. I was trying to find space for my ipod and for some reason took the sport beans out. So, I ran with no extra energy yesterday. I didn't like the Hammer Gel they supplied at the last race. After the McD's breakfast, I wasn't that hungry the rest of the day. I did eat dinner about 6:30. I'm usually starved all day after a long run.

Time for lunch. Hope you're having a marvelous Monday.

Jackie

Hello cheetahs!

WELCOME BACK Lori! I remember you were checking in with us before we were officially calling ourselves "cheetahs" and when the bun was newly in the oven. :) How's that for a memory? BTW, great job on getting in a 10 miler ever week. It is tough running with a jogger.

Sorry this is a short post. Today was PUB on my own. I can do the workout in a shorter amount of time and with heavier weight if I do it that way.

SunnyD - Congrats on wanting to go back to school. You can do anything you put your mind to.

Cathy - I'm up for the gift and card exchange this year. It sounds like a lot of fun.

TTFN. I hope to make it back later for more personals. Waves to all cheetahs!

Hey girls,

quickie check back in before heading off to teach a class!

wendy- no, noone told me i had to. i just want to. eventually i would like to become a fitness director.

shelly- oh you made me blush after reading your post. thank you! your pics are awesome!

kristi- thanks. i am concerned re: the time, however i am excited about adding another degree to my wall, lol.

lori #2- welcome to cheetahland!!!

carole- so you are going to jump right into the new workouts, lol. good for you!

didn't do a fb workout. my knees are bothering me a little from yesterday's run. so i did an istrength UB and B&G abs.

ttyl...:p

Quick post to say I did LIS circuit and upperbody. Nice little workout. I enjoyed it. Although I was finished before I realized I was in such a hurry that I put my pants on inside out. *rolls eyes* My DD's boyfriend bought a new bike (garage sale - $50 - but a nice bike) and dropped it off to our house over lunch. That was funny - he must think I'm a wacko old lady! :+

Good Afternoon Girls.

Grrr...my neck is bothering me more then my legs at this point. ALOT more! How annoying is THAT!?x( I spent the whole day doing a bunch of nothing and finally decided I couldn't take it anymore so I am cleaning the house. Well, what I can manage with a stiff neck, anyway. Surprisingly enough, I am able to vacuum!

Christine: I loved your childbirth analogy for the HM! It's true as I am already considering another one and I'm not out of pain yet! LOL I'll definately run another half before I have another baby!:p

Lori: I'm happy to have ya here girl! I missed ya! Your little boy is an absolute doll and you look fantastic! You are runnin' 10 miles with a jogging stroller!?!? Holy cow! I bought one, used it ONCE and never used it again! LOL

Jackie: That was a great time for 10 miles! I ran 10 miles in just under 2 hours the first time and slightly faster y'day. When's your next race and what's the distance? I am considering a 15K over Thanksgiving weekend.}(

Hi Kristi, Sunny and everyone else!

GTG 4 now...BBL!:)

Hi cheetahs! :)

Got home a little late after the dentist but enjoyed a nice, relaxing stretch with Crunch: Joy of Yoga this evening. My back doesn't hurt as badly as it did this morning, but I will be applying more heat tonight. It's still not quite right.

Sunny :: I feel the same way (about how you can never learn too much) ~ that’s been my problem! *lol* I think an MS in exercise sci. sounds perfect for you…hope you enjoyed your w/out.

Lorie :: I agree that shorter runs can be just as effective…I used to put in 6+ miles daily (5 days/week) but have not been anywhere near that kind of mileage since I ret’d to running in spring of ’06. I just don't have that kind of time anymore, and I've realized it isn't necessary...OK, so we’ll be holding you accountable for some shorter midweek runs. Will do!

Lori :: welcome!!! Thanks for sharing your running background with us…I know from popping in the WW thread now and then that you have been putting in some serious miles.

Wendy :: nope, no chance I’ll be tradin’ lower body DOMS with you! *lol* I’ll keep my own, thank-u-very-much. :) I did get myself good, though. Will have to do that mishmosh again sometime…So sorry about the arthritis flare-up! I hope you feel better with some rest…Thank you ~ I am not thrilled with my teeth…I had braces as a teen, but some of my teeth have shifted. But I have to say, I am *very* pleased with the results from Zoom…I figured Joey might like that cheetah…isn’t he so soft & cuddly?

Carole :: yes, I am going to the chiro weekly…I told her my back has been tight lately, but this was insane…the car ride to work was NOT fun…every stinkin’ bump was painful…but the Advil kicked in, and it’s manageable. I think post workout & when I stop moving is when I get stiff…What workout did you wind up doing? Apparently, some of my colleagues have spotted coyotes in town (where I work, which is more rural than the Deptford/Glassboro/RT area). I had no idea we even *had* coyotes in Jersey. Made me think of you cheetahs and your many wildlife encounters.

Judy :: most of the problem has stemmed from that minor fender bender I had back in June (on the day I met up with Shelly & Wendy for a 5K). I also had a previous accident some years ago which torqued up my back…How did you like legs & core? Is your hip feeling any better? When I did Joy of Yoga tonight, I thought of you…I hadn’t done it in awhile…that one has a couple of good hip stretches in there. It’s an oldie but a goodie. Gentle and not too flighty and it comes in at 35 min.

Christine :: boy, between hangovers, viruses, and an assortment of injury flare-ups, we are quite the pack here, aren’t we? Glad your wrist is doing better. How’s the achilles?…I still have major booty DOMS and am lovin’ it! The $20/$25 amount sounds good to me. Anyone else?…The fires are just awful. Did I hear correctly that it is suspected arson?…Bustin’ a gut that you had your pants on inside out. That is totally something I would do. I remember putting my shirt on backwards once in elem school and trying to convince my classmates that that was the style. (It was this weird 80s shirt with buttons and snaps and a cowl neckline. Yeah, I know. To-die-for fashion. As in, it should've been punishable by death. *lol*)

Susan :: glad you were pleased with your whitening results…Your teeth do look great! I hope mine lasts. I didn’t realize I had to go tea-free for 48 hours…I hope I make it! *lol* I have to try the core work on the step DVD.

Shelly :: wow! That is some climb you did there! You look so fresh and superfit with your hottie body!…Laughed so hard when I got to the line about you not being “THAT crazy” to do all those w/outs post-race. You are too funny! If anyone *could* pull that off, it would be you! :)…So did you catch a movie this afternoon?…Luckily, I did not have to go with a total rest day but was able to stick with my Monday yoga stretch. Ahhhhhh! The downward dogs felt great on the hams and glutes.

Jackie :: glad your foot is back to normal today…Hope you enjoyed your yoga.

Kristi :: glad you enjoyed PUB.

Have a great night!!

Hey guys. I just wanted to drop in and say a big loud HELLO to you all! Wendy's HM performance makes us Cheetahs SOOOO proud, doesn't it??? WOO HOO!

Just wanted, also, to keep you posted on me! I'm in week 4 of my current 12 week Body For Life Challenge. I've dropped 12 pounds and am seeing some incredible changes. For my HIIT cardio, I alternating between running and the bike. The intervals are doing WONDERS for my speed, not to mention my BODY!

I ran a 5K this past weekend, clocking in at 27:24 (my goal was 27:30) and placed 3rd in my age group (the 1st and 2nd in my group were merely SECONDS in front of me). Here's are 2 pics, if you don't mind my sharing them with you:

Me on the bridge (this course was GORGEOUS):

Me getting my medal:

THANKS for letting me drop in! My plan is to finish out this 12 weeks, which takes me right up to Christmas week. Then I'll back off just a bit from the heavy weights for that week, and then pick up on Jan 1st with training for my April HM (not sure what I'll do for weights, but this HEAVY HEAVY stuff is doing WONDERS for this body of mine, lol).

ANYWAY......I miss you guys, but I lurk every now and then just to keep updated on all of you!

Gayle

Gayle,
You look GREAT!!!! Congrats on your medal. It is funny how trying something different than what we think is best for weight loss and fitness for ourselves, is the thing that changes everything. I have heard great things about BFL. I think it is great that you have had the discipline to stick with it. Great to hear from you:)

Susan

Good Evening Girls.

It's late and I need to hit the sack but I figured I'd pop in quickly before I go. I have to share this before I forget! LOL

So I was training my BF tonight and realized just how sore my legs are post half! I have her do simple repetative cardio movements using the step and one of them requires a straddle-knee up. Well, she couldn't recall it just based on my explanation so I had to show her (this is not unusual). Well, OMG, just lifting my leg to do the knee up ignited a small fire in my quad! Holy cow! I knew I was still sore based on how I feel going up and down the stairs but that didn't surprise me. The burn I got from doing that simple move on the step really threw me for a loop though!}(

Gayle: Thanks so much! You are so sweet! WOW, you are getting FAB results from BFL! Good for you girl! You will have to share your secrets when you are done with the program!:) So you are going to train for a spring HM? I am considering doing a second this spring. We'll have to wait and see what actually happens though! LOL

Cathy: Oh Joey LOVES the Cheetah. Funny how it's suddenly HIS now if you ask him when I only said he could play with it, not that I was giving it to him!;) Glad that you are happy with the whitening treatment. Do you have before and after pics? My neck is still hurtin' but I THINK it's starting to get better. It was hurting REALLY bad earlier in the evening but I think that was my own fault as I wasn't moving it around much so it really stiffened up in one certain position. I've taken 2 doses of the med I have and will take a 3rd in the morning. I am hoping I will feel a noticable difference by tomorrow some time. It usually takes a day or two to kick in anyway.

Okay, off to bed with me!

Night!:+

ETA: I checked the race website before I came onto the forums. They have all of the pics posted and I look freakin' HORRID once again! The results are still not up though. GRRRR!
