Cathlete
Hey Cheetah-Babes!

Yes, I got up at 5am.x( I woke up about 30 mins prior and couldn't fall back to sleep so I stopped fighting it at 5am.

Cathy: I can't imagine the planning and organizing, etc that goes into being prepared to start a new school year! YIKES! I've always been curious about how that works. I don't want to ask you to explain this on the boards but perhaps while we are hangin' out during the RT weekend I will pick your brain. I'm just curious and hope you won't mind. :)

I have cardio on tap for today though I am totally clueless as to what I will do. I'd like to get to the gym but may opt for the ease of a home work out. I'll have to see how my day goes...

So all of our clothes are packed. Today I have to tackle the toiletries and other such stuff as well as the food/drinks we will be taking to nosh on during the ride. Please pray that we have enough trunk space for all of our cr@p! Our clothes are jam-packed into a large duffle bag of DH's and I mean JAMMED...and we didn't even pack enough clothes for every day since we will have a w/d in our condo! I would like to get everything else but the food into ONE other bag if I can...

I HATE PACKING!!!!!!x(

Okay, that's enough babbling for now.

BBL-I won't leave w/o saying goodbye to my Cheetahs!:7

Good morning cheetahs...

wendy- i hate packing and unpacking, lol. so when do you leave for your trip? i know you just can't wait. enjoy whichever cardio you choose to do today.

i am about to leave to teach my classes. i have my ipod with me just in case there is noone for me treading class. at least 3 people have told me they will not be able to make it today. so if i am alone i am doing an itread, :D
also, i am supposed to have a swimming lesson with the young girl swim instructor...we'll see. i did sign up for lessons (starting next month) at the y, so no matter what i am learning how to swim!

have a great day to all!

Hi Sunny.

I hope your class is cancelled so that you can do an Itread. ;)
Have fun with your first swim lesson today!:)

I will be heading down your way tonight! What area do you live in? I'll honk as we drive by!;)

Mornin' girls:

Wendy - I hear ya, I hate to pack, too, and need to get that finally done before we leave in a few hours for Nationals.

Sunny - Have fun with whatever you do for a workout = teach or by yourself. ;-)

I'm getting excited to go, but feeling very overwhelmed already. We will be very busy the entire time and right now I could use some "down time", so this should be interesting. I'm going to try and use this time to figure out what I'm doing with my life and where it's going. I'm happy for the most part, but some change would be good in the job department so I'm going to take a long look and see what I come up with ;-)

I am very excited to use the workout center at the Hilton, it looks so nice :7 :7

Well, I need to refill my coffee and find some energy somewhere to wake up. Talk soon.

marcia.

Have a safe trip, Marcia.
I hope you are successful in your "soul searching" this weekend. I am looking forward to checking out our hotel's fitness room as well! Isn't it funny what Catheites get excited about!? :7 I bought and am bringing 2 brand new work out outfits on vacation with me. I want to look TOP NOTCH! ;) :7

Good Job, Wendy, there is something to be said for working out in new duds ;-) You'll be rockin' the place, I'm sure. Enjoy your vacation!

Marcia.

Mornin’, cheetah babes! :D

It’s muggy as all get-out this morning, so I got out & hit the roads early. Did the usual 3 miles and will do MM u/b only premix later on. Am enjoying a strawberry bagel and my tea.

Wendy :: must be the pre-vacation excitement disrupting your sleep!…I don’t mind at all answering questions on or off the boards…but a short answer: I would say the preparation greatly varies from teacher-to-teacher. Some people tweak or write new lesson plans or units; others read for professional development to pick up new ideas, strategies, and materials; some make changes to their policies and programs; many buy new supplies, materials, and decorations (elementary teachers especially on the latter). And some do all of the above…So, what cardio did you decide on?…Don’t forget to wave when you pass Exit 3. :D

Sunny :: enjoy your workout ~ whichever it winds up to be ~ and your first swim lesson.

Marcia :: hey, partner! Have a great time at the Convention. So, what’s the workout plan for today? I’m happy to say I’m doing much better the past two days with controlled eating. Hallelujah! *lol*

Have a GREAT day, everyone!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...So the Garmin won't work inside? I have not tried that yet. I have always used a Polar HRM for indoor tracking, and I just ordered the F6.... The party this weekend is for 2. My DH and my Pastor's wife. So I will be hosting with my Pastor...:)...Our humidity has eased up a bit. Glad you got your run in early. Have fun with MM upper.

Wendy...I did up the weight on a few biceps exercises in B&B...yeow! There ended up being a fire near the restaurant we wanted to got, so we opted for Chinese takeout. I agree, MIS upper is a killer workout. I am not a huge fan of packing either. I hope you have an awesome vacation Wendy...:)

Marcia...hope you have a good time at the Nationals this weekend.

Jackie...that iStrength Circuit sounds like a good workout.

Jess..thanks, my DH did have a good B-Day. I sure hope Hannah feels better soon. Tonsillitis has to be painful..

Gayle...good job with PLB. Hate those internet connection problems.

Sunny...you should feel like a runner!! The foam roller is a great investment, and I keep reading more and more about them and the benefits. Hope you get the swimming lesson today.

Christine...way to go with those tough KM blasts! Once the humidity drops a bit, the warm days are easier to handle. I think sometimes I'd rather be on the coast! I CANNOT believe Jimmy was attacked by another dog at puppy training!! Glad to hear he is still the happy camper.

Susan...hope you had a great massage yesterday! I bet the girls love the pool in the summer.

I am doing S&H Legs and hoping for a 4-5 mile run. My tooth still hurts a little with the impact of running, so I will head out and if it hurts I will come back and do my EXT. I see the Doctor to take out my stitches tomorrow, so I will ask if this occasional pain will soon be gone!

wendy- i live in winston salem, nc about 4 hrs away from myrtle beach. we are thinking about taking a trip on in 2 weeks!

marcia- have an awesome trip.

cathy- i thought you had the garmin with the HRM??? am i mistaken?

carole- i hope you are able to run with no pain.

christine- so sorry that jimmy was attacked. he sounds like one tough dog!

well no takers for my TM class today but i was kinda happy about that as i was able to do a 45 min iclimb and still get paid for my time, lol. had my first swim lesson...i can see i have alot to learn. good thing i gave myself some time.

forgot to mention yesterday, dh met me and the gym last night and we did chest and arms!

ttyl...:)

Good morning ladies!

Cathy - I use my Polar for indoors too. I'm thinking about that shoe pod too. Maybe I can get someone to get for me as a gift. Gadgets!! LOL!! Nothing like having strong family ties. I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters and we're all very close. School starts Aug. 7 around here.

Wendy - Glad you got the workout dilemna solved. I hate waking up before my scheduled 4:30 time. Good thing you're driving. At least, you don't have to worry about overweight bags and you can throw some things in all willy nilly if necessary. When we drove to FL it was much more relaxing than fighting the airport adventure.

Sunny - Hope you had students for your class today. Enjoy your swimming lesson.

Marcia - Have a safe trip and enjoy your convention. Hopefully you will come back renewed and regenerated. :)

Carole - Guess it was meant for you and DH to stay home and enjoy each other's company. Chinese is good! Hope you can get your run in without the tooth hurting too much. How long is the pain supposed to last?

I ran 3 miles and did about 30 minutes of Gilad's Core & More. Good core workout. It has some pilates and yoga moves in it too.

Have a great day!

Jackie

jackie- i guess we were posting at the same time. noone today for TM class but that was okay with me today. good workout today! do you get up at 4:30 a.m.????

wendy- how long will you be in sc?

Good morning ladies,
I am up and ready to go to the mall. I need to go to Macy's and get some new workout clothes for the roadtrip. I will take my girls with me because they LOVE going to the mall with mom. They have a California pizza kitchen there, so we will go to lunch as well. I too have been trying to lose a few pounds and gosh I just can't stop eating. As I get older this diet thing just doesn't work for me anymore. Oh well, life is short, so I will just have to enjoy my treats}(

A question to all you foam roller ladies. Do you ever get bruised from it? I have bruises down the side of my leg where I have been focusing on the ITB area. I tend to get obsessed with most things that I do, so maybe I am overdoing it. Any thoughts?

I did Bootcamp last night and it kicked my hiney. I have no pain with that type of workout, it is just the dang ole step. I should get my orthotics this week, so hopefully that will help things.

We went out and got backpacks last night for the kids and my little Mariah, who will start Kindergarten this year, wore hers to bed. She won't take it off her back. She is so excited to be a big girl. I am so sad she is growing up so fast....

Anyway, I am awfully chatty this morning.

Wendy, Have a great trip! Sorry, but where are you going?

Cathy, I can't believe I am going to meet you soon. I am so excited!

Carole, Chinese food is my favorite and then mexican. I hope your tooth pain goes away soon. Are you on some strong pain killers?

Sunnydelite, I think that is great you are going to do a tri. I would love to do that. I am not a great swimmer though. I really do not enjoy it. Glad you got a good workout in this morning.

Marcia, have fun on your trip too. I love checking out the new workout rooms in hotels. It is the first thing I look at(LOL)!

Jackie, I did some lower body work and abs from a Gilad tape that I had years ago. I forgot how much I like him. I love his accent and how he always says"one more time". He has some good ab work.
Your workouts are always very creative and diverse:)

Christine, I hope your little Baby is okay today after that mean doggie that attacked him. ((((HUGS))))) to Jimmy and you.

Hello to Shelly, Judy, laura, and all of the other loveley cheetahs!

I am off to the mall:) :) :) :) :) :)

Susan

Hey Ladies.

I went to the gym early this morning...well, early for me anyway! LOL I was there at about 8:15 and knocked out the 2nd phase of ITread 14/60 mins after a good walk/run warm up! I did the first phase of this work out last week so I HAD to try the 2nd today!}( I got in 3 miles with that so I am happy. :)

I have collected a ton of toiletries, etc to be packed as the day has worn on. I hesitate to begin actually packing it until I see how much in total I have to make fit so for now it's all in nice little piles in my work out room waiting for a home. :p I've pretty much cleaned the house as much as I am going to. I am not out to make it spotless but I HATE coming home to a mess!x( I still have to clean out food from the fridge that's not worth keeping, take out the garbage, wash the last of the dishes (if there are any) and make the sandwiches and pack them along with the other food stuff. So I still have a lot to do but I feel in control. I took a shower right after I got home from the gym so that's taken care of. I just have to wait for DH to shower and then I can grab the last of the toiletries that have to go as well. I am actually pretty organized and not getting as frustrated as I usually do this time....Hmmmm...is the world going to end or something!? ;) :p :7

Cathy: Yeah, I am sure it's the vacation thing that was keeping me up this morning. SOOOO much to do! YIKES! Thanks for explaining a bit to me about teachers' prep for the new year. As far as what needs to be taught...I assume you are given an outline of everything the state requires you to cover and then you create your lesson plans using that as a guide?? My gosh it just seems like soooo much work!!! You deserve a raise!!!!:) I have no clue how what road we are taking out of NJ but I will surely wave anyway!!!!;)

Carole: Oh jeez, a fire!?! Glad you atleast were able to take out chinese food. Do you have a plan for a THIRD shot at going out to eat? This weekend perhaps? :9

Sunny: Don't go to MB in 2 weeks...go there NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!:p I'll be in SC from tomorrow to the following friday. We are driving back friday during the day. Nice to get paid to work out on your own! Gotta love it!

Jackie: I have no idea how we'd fit everything into the limited # of bags if we were flying. Having a child really changes how much you need to pack! Jeesh! LOL

Well, my break time is over! :7 Gotta get goin' and see if there is anything else I can accomplish...perhaps I'll clean out the fridge and make the sandwiches now...

Hope to BB again before I leave girls!:)

Hi Susan.

We were posting at the same time. I am going to Myrtle Beach, SC for a week. We are leaving at about 7pm and driving through the night....OY!:p

Hope you and your girls had a successful shopping trip at the mall and a super yummy lunch as well!:9

Hi Ladies!

Did CoreMax #3 followed by Spinervals Lake Placid (the last 75 minutes – it’s a 3 hour DVD). Not too thrilled with this one. Too much time spent in the same gear. I’ll most likely use only the last 45 minutes of it for steady state. The scenery is pretty, but I get bored just watch Coach Troy’s butt. :p Oh well, still a great workout.

Wendy - Sorry you’re having difficulties sleeping. Is it excitement? So, where are you going? I haven’t been following. But where ever you go – HAVE FUN!!!

Sunny –Glad you got in a iTread. You’ll build that class soon! I used to take one at my gym and enjoyed it! Good for you for learning how to swim! Then you can come visit me at the beach when I’m in North Carolina!

Marcia – good thing about Trade Shows is that you don’t HAVE to attend everything. Have fun!

Hey Cathy – I hate muggy! Good job on 3 miles in the swampy air! That bagel sounds good! Yum!

Carole – yeah, I was not happy about Jimmy being attacked. Poor guy. I’m glad he’s a happy camper, too! I’d hate for something like that to ruin him. (And it can be that quick!) I was thinking of you while doing the Spinervals. It’s actually the triathlon course for Lake Placid and Coach Troy mentions that after we complete the workout we should finish it off with a 30-60 minute run. I laughed, and said, “I’ll bet Carole could do it!” Then I come here and read that you’re doing S&H Legs, and a 4-5 mile run! Sure enough!

Jackie – Sounds like you had a great workout, as usual!!

Susan – I love hearing about your days with your girls! I know what you mean about the diet thing not working as you get older. Not fair is it? Oh well…

Figured I’d include the latest photo of Jimmy. Here he is at 6 months – taken this morning – so you can see he’s right as rain:

Enjoy everyone!

Carole :: no, I couldn’t get it to work…read through the manual…no dice. I have the F6, too (yesterday, I think I called it an F5, which I don’t think exists :)), so I will just use that when inside…For some reason, I thought a big party was planned…lucky you to get a break in humidity!…Hope your tooth cooperated for your run…the impact on my low back sometimes makes for rather painful runs lately, so I can relate in a way…chiro says it’s getting better, though, and that the running is good for it.

Sunny :: yes, I have the 305 now. The Garmin I had before did not have the HRM so I would run with two separate gadgets PLUS the iPod -- it was just too much paraphernalia!

Jackie :: I know very little about the shoe pods…is the purpose just so you don’t have to wear anything strapped to your arm?…Aug. 7??? Yikes! I go back the day after Labor Day.

Susan :: I have not actually gotten bruised from the foam roller, but sometimes it does really hurt! If that’s the case, then I’ll try not to bear all of my weight on it…too cute about Mariah wearing her backpack to bed. :)

Wendy :: there’s so much to do when you go away, isn’t there?…sounds like you are almost ready to go…my least favorite part is coming home and unpacking…*lol* about the raise…mind if I forward your post to my boss? ha. :D In terms of the curriculum, it is usually well-defined in most subject areas. There is a scope and sequence – meaning, you know how in-depth you are to teach each topic or concept and there is a particular order you generally follow. Unfortunately, in the two districts where I have taught, there is no clearly defined language arts curriculum. What we do is based upon the state standards, but our reading and writing units are usually theme or genre-based and teacher-developed – there is no textbook. Sometimes when there *is* a textbook, it’s not used often (if at all) either because it’s outdated or because the pieces included don’t resonate with the students. The curriculum work I was involved in this summer is part of an ongoing overhaul process...it'll take several years but the end goal is that we'll have an established curriculum that eliminates some of the gaps and redundancies in what we teach from 6th through 8th grades…sorry you asked yet? *lol*

Christine :: now if it were Joey’s booty you were followin’ around Lake Placid, you wouldn’t mind, right?}( :D …I meant to say, too, that I was sorry to hear of Jimmy’s attack but am glad he bounced back. Great pics! I just love how he’s sitting in the chair like a human. Your pool/patio looks gorgeous, BTW.

Cathy: Thanks for the "lesson"! I am not sorry I asked! These are things I was always curious about!:)

Well, we are all packed except for the food...only about an hour left. I probably won't be back so have a great week everyone!

I'll miss you all while I'm gone!

I will post when I get home next weekend. :)

Toodles!:7
