Cathlete
Mornin', cheetah babes! :)

Susan :: great run yesterday! How was Chevy’s?

Jess :: thanks for dropping in to give us an update on yourself. Glad all is well.

Amy :: have fun with KM today. That is one I didn’t like as much at first (I thought KPC was more fun), but it grew on me over time. Love the drills.

Carole :: cracked up at your post to Helga. I’d go back into that thread, but I just can’t look at that creature again…I did your foot exercises for the first time yesterday. I also ordered something called Yoga Toes. It was not cheap but came with a 90-day guarantee, so I’m giving it a shot. http://yogapro.com/ if you want to check it out…Glad your legs felt strong yesterday.

Lorie :: *lol* about throw-upees. I slept a lot yesterday and took a full rest day (only had yoga or a stretch on the agenda, anyway). I don’t feel GREAT today but good enough to go into work. No more nausea at least, which was main the reason I wanted to stay home yesterday.

Sunny :: the chocolate fudge pudding is good, but the fresh cinnamon and banana nut bread are my favorites…I use 4 oz. of water, 5-6 ice cubes, and 4 oz. of fat-free vanilla yogurt plus one scoop. Yummmmm!!...So, there are Chevy's in Jersey somewhere. Must be up north.

Wendy :: I have to get over to that website again and read up on when the race starts, what time I have to leave, etc. This is so exciting!…Great job with your w/out last night. Sounds like a goodie. }(

Jackie :: glad you had the day off yesterday…Wow, what a post-race workout. Mere mortals would take a rest day. And then there's you and Shelly. :)

Christine :: yoga before a run *does* sound like a good idea…when is your half, Saturday or Sunday?

Wendi :: WOW, what a run yesterday! Rock on!! I used to run 5 days a week, Mon-Friday, so I don’t necessarily think 4 days in a row is unhealthy or unsafe, but it depends on your body and how you feel.

Kristi :: sorry about DD being sick. Glad you were able to get Chelsea out for her first run.

I have a run on schedule for this afternoon…We’ll see how I’m feeling at the end of the day. If that’s a bit much, then I’ll probably do Basic Step.

Have a GREAT day, ladies!

Good morning all! I truly didn't mean to hang you in suspense yesterday. I was going to come back to post but got too busy with work and then went home to crash. I had a nice rest day (sort of)
;-) I did a segment of coremax and stretchmax.... felt great. Alot of the soreness is already wearing off, except my ankles!
My next race is even more unique then the Man against Horse. It's called the Bisbee Stair Climb. www.bisbee1000.com. Bisbee is a funky old mining town (Arizona is chock full of them) in S. Arizona in the mountains there. Where the old mule trains used to haul copper they built many long old staircases. This race runs through Bisbee and goes UP nine staircases for a total of more then 1000 steps.  The distance is for 5k but don't expect the usual 5k times. The overall winner usually runs this in 30-35 minutes! If I make it under 45 minutes I'll be happy. I'm going down there with DH and a group of friends. I think I'm the only one crazy enough to try to run this. Everyone else is walking it. Should be interesting!!

I'll be back to catch up on personals.

My goodness, alot of chatty cheetahs yesterday:) :)

Judy- When I post early with the East Coast cheetahs I'm usually at work. Around 3am it's usually pretty quiet and I can take a break and chat some. Going for a run today?

Wendy- Sounds like your AC trip was lots of fun.... no surprise there!
Glad you got in your workout yesterday with iClimb.... look out lower body today, eh? Still planning on the 11.5 mile run this weekend?

Cathy- Glad you're feeling better! I got a real kick out of reading that "Helga" thread yesterday. :D OMG that pic!!

Lorie- I hope your return to the iTread is a success today. Somehow I'm sure you'll just get right back into it with no problems.

Carole- Thanks for sharing your story about you and your sis getting lost in the trail race. Definitely makes me feel less stupid!
Your runs are sure going well lately!:) :)

Susan- Glad that hip flexor problem went away! Great job on your 4.3 miles yesterday!!

SunnyD- Great to hear from you! That deal with the dinner service sounds great! Wonderful timesaver for you with your busy schedule.
Still training 10+ clients a day?

Christine- So Jimmy's not a conehead anymore? woooohoooo:) :)
Your shins are probably grateful! Your hike sounded like quite an ordeal!!

Jess- Great to hear from you and thanks for the update. How did your friends fare in Chicago?

Amy- Good luck with Kickmax today!

Jackie- I'd say your quads definitely deserve a little break today:)
Hope you get in an awesome upperbody workout.

Wendi- Wow, fantastic job with the 8 miler!!! I'm way impressed with your speed girl:eek:  When is your next race? I don't think it would necessarily be bad to run 4+ days in a row if you are conditioned for it. What you want to avoid is doing too many hard runs, like long runs or speed workouts in one week.

Kristi- Aw, your poor little Annamarie!! Pink eye is a miserable thing for a little one to experience. Is she any better today?

I think that about catches me up. I have a few nights off after tonight:7 :7 After my nap it's a trip to the dentist:( and I'll do a circuit workout later, probably AllBodyAttack and then 40 minutes on the EXT

ShellyC

ouch.ouch.ouch.ouch.ouch.ouch.ouch.

i am SO SORE from my double BBC workout yesterday!!! when the alarm went off and it hurt to reach up to turn it off, i decided staying in bed and snuggling with DF would be more enjoyable than working out. my major doms are in my shoulders and back (probably from those darn shoulder circles!!!). anyway, i am going to try and motivate to work out this afternoon. if not, i will plan on an iTread for tomorrow.

btw...LOVE the thread title today!!!

gotta go shower and get to an early meeting this morning. i will be back later for personals.

Good morning ladies!

Count me in with loving the thread title today...of course I HAD to think of Lorie when I saw it :7. Well, PP or any other weight training is still out and I got up too late to go out for a run so it'll probably be a rest day for me, oh poo :-(. Thanks for the advice Cathy and Shelly...I wasn't sure if it was too much pounding that many days in a row, although I run fairly low impact. Speaking of...and I hope you don't mind if I vent just a bit here, but this really irked me last week....

So I tell my boss that my injury inexplicably flared up for a couple of days (I didn't even w/o those days) and I was sorry that I couldn't ride as many as I needed to. He then precedes to tell me that it's the running (which I know it's not...it hurts more to walk than to run) and I need to be careful because I'm one step from looking anorexic...WTH!?!?!?! Phyllis (pwmatt) has a pic of me with Cathe from the RT, how the he!! do you call that anorexic? I'm barely 5'1" on a tall day and am currently 115, with a few left to go around the mid section. GGGRRR!!!!! I'm sorry but I'm not about to put on a layer of fat just so that I bounce better when I hit the ground x(. Okay now that that is off my chest...sorry, but it's really been eating at me lately.

Kristi - I'm glad the "family run" went well. I hope your DD is feeling better soon.

Wendy - Great w/o last night for someone who thought they were only going to do a quickie 20 min :p!

Cathy - I'm glad you're feeling better this morning...just take it easy please. We have a bunch of over-achievers here ;-).

Shelly - Thanks hon! My next race isn't until Oct 28. It's a little 7K. I'm not sure if I should start to lay off the distance and start pushing for more speed? Or keep mixing it up? I bow to your (and all Cheetahs') knowledge and wisdom. That "Stair Climb" does sound interesting...and TOUGH! You are the woman ...I marvel at your little adventures. I'm glad you've got a couple nights off coming up...your work schedule is NUTS!

Lorie - Oh, I think I would be opting for some snuggling with those DOMS, too. What a nice way to spend a morning :7.

I've got to get moving. Hopefully my work day won't be too long today and I can check back later. Have a good one!

Good Morning Cheetahs :)

This has to be quick, Kids need rides this morning and then I will continue right on to my run. It is supposed to be 5 miles (wu 1mi, tempo @9:18 3 mi, wd 1mi.) If my hip feels good I'll hold the pace, if not I'll slow right down. Either way I'll stick to Chi principles.

Perhaps later, I will get back here for personals. This will be a good motivator to get the 'to do' list done and take a cyber break!

Still nice and slow here:) Time for some more chatting!

Wendi- Okay, I'm missing something here.... since when does running cause RIB injuries!!!!!!!!??????? You you are perfect baby, don't listen to this foolish man, not worth the bother, IMHO!

Lorie- I vote for more snuggle time too;-) You can get in a killer run later:)

Judy- You are Carole are turning into the champion Chi artists!
I do try earnestly with each run to use these principles but it's hard since I have the attention span of a gnat!

gotta go

Morning Ladies!

Cathy: I can't believe the HM is in less then 2 weeks! YIKES! DH may actually have the day off now. He won't know probably until that very week though. Hope you are feeling better today!

Shelly: Interesting race! I think they do a "race" at the empire state building that is simply climbing the stairs from ground to top floor as fast as you can. You should do it!!!!!}( I'd like to run the 11.5 miles on Sunday if I can but if I can't I know I'll still be okay.

Lorie: DOMS is fun, isn't it!? LOL BBC is great for that!

Wendi: Sorry about what your boss said. Just ignore it. People can be tactless and clueless! UGH!

So I have a B&G Premix plus BBC Butt and Legs' non-TM cardio on tap for today...I am going to be cursing this decision! I can see it now!}( :7 }(

BBL!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...I agree, Helga's picture was quite nasty!! I had contemplated the Yoga toes when my bunion was way bad. Let me know how they work for you. Glad you are feeling better today, have fun with Basic step.

Shelly...WOW..sounds like a killer 5K. I know a few people that have gotten lost on trail runs...I get a bit freaked when I am all alone for awhile on a trail race. Enjoy your circuit workout and the Dentist (is it just a cleaning?)

Wendy...You are definitely ready for 11.5 miles!! I did get a clean bill of health at the Dentist's. Good job with the iClimb workout yesterday. WOW, B&G and BBC B&L!! Can you already feel the DOMS!

Lorie...LOL at the "throw-upee" comment...:)...I guess BBC fullbody gave you quite the DOMS.

Wendi...it was funny getting bombed from the acorn...even though it hurt, it did make me laugh. Way to go with the 7:50 last mile!! I normally only run 2 days in a row once a week, but you can run as many days in a row as you want. I ran 6 days a week when I marathon trained. So is your boss overweight? I am not sure why it just seems to irk some people that we enjoy exercise, especially running, and he thinks running caused the Rib injury...YIKES!!...if you can, just try and ignore him...senseless jerk!

Judy...glad to hear you are still doing the Chi technique, enjoy the 5 miles.

Jackie...I never told you how GREAT you did on the 10 miler!! Tough course it sounds like. You do have to be careful on the downhills, and that usually gets the quads sore! I used to use Hammer gel, now I am trying these Sport beans from Jelly belly, I get small bags of them at Rite Aid and I like the taste.. http://www.sportbeans.com/ Yes my teeth were shining. I always love the feeling of getting them cleaned. I do use a Sonicare toothbrush and that does get close to the dentist office feeling.

Christine...you are right, could be the cats in NM! Glad to hear Jimmy is all better and stitch less. Not sure if you ever told me the Javelina story...:)...Yes, I am sure you can get faster running, I am just happy to be getting back some of my speed.

Kristi...so sorry about Annamarie's pink eye. Hope that clears up soon. Glad you got Chelsea up to the mile distance.

I am doing PLB standing, 40 min on my EXT and GS Biceps.

Have a great day...:)

G'morning ladies!! Thanks for the welcome back! I have Core Syn on tap for today. I might try out some Hip Hop Abs too, I really want to try out all of my new workouts!

Cathy ~ Don't you love that BSN lean dessert protein powder?? I love the cinnamon roll mixed in my oatmeal, DELISH!!! I have the vanilla creme & it's really good just mixed w/ light soymilk too.

Well, I heard from my friends. Erin had her slowest marathon time ever at 5:34 and Melissa DNF. She said that she got rerouted at mile 16 and wasn't able to finish even if she wanted to. She said it was like a warzone seeing people laying all over the sidewalks and just heartbreaking seeing people taken away in stretchers, etc. Another friend of theirs DNF also. This was Melissa's first DNF and she was a bit disappointed (I think this would have been her 8th marathon?) but she said w/ the conditions she was happy that she made it as far as she did. Erin had called into the local radio station that was talking about it & she was on the radio all day w/ her interview y'day!!! Local celebrity! LOL Thanks for asking about them!

Off to get my workout done & then Allison & I have some errands to do! Have a great Tues!

Good morning Cheetahs!

Day after a holiday and I'm playing catch up. Love those days!x(

Christine - Yippee for Jimmy!! So glad he's feeling better. Is he ready to go for a run yet?

Wendi - Great job on the runs over the weekend! Can't wait until the HM have come and gone. I'm ready for a break! Sorry for the thoughtless boss remark.

Krist - Hope Annamarie feels better. Good run with Chelsea!

Wendy - Glad you had a good workout with iClimb 4. I don't think I've attempted an hour long workout yet. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that DH can make your HM.

Cathy - Now, you know I want to grow up to be like Shelly.;) I used light weights yesterday and the workout wasn't bad at all. I warmed up on the treadmill 'cause I just didn't feel like doing all of that jumping. Love the core work S&B. Feeling better today?

Shelly - You do love sheer torture, don't you? The stair race sounds fun and exhausting at the same time. It's not for us mere mortals. :) Enjoy your nights off and have a fun workout!

Lorie - Yay for the DOMS!! Snuggling did sound like more fun.

Judy - Hope you had a good run.

Carole - I got some of the Sports Beans from Wal-Mart and forgot to take them with me. Will make sure I put them in my fuel belt next time. They taste much better than that Hammer Gel. I wasn't too hungry all day after the race. I'm usually starved all day long after a long run. Love my Sonicare too. Have a great workout!

Jess - Enjoy your workout. Glad your friends feel ok after the Chicago half.

I did iTread #9 60 minutes. This one is more of a steady state. She has you do a sprint every 10 minutes. The hills were kept to 2-3% incline. Really helped my legs this morning to work out some of the soreness. Did a 10 minute iStretch too.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Jackie

Cheetahs-
I just put some coffee on and after I do a chore or two I will be back to visit.

Hello ladies,
I just got back from working in my 5 years olds class. I love seeing what they are doing and who their friends are. It is such an innocent age. I am amazed how different the attitude is between my 5 year and my 8 year old. My 8 year old acts like she is 15 and know everything(LOL)! My 7 year old is somewhere in between. Anyway, I am going to do GS ba,sh,bi and no cardio. I am trying to stick to just 3 -4 cardio sessions a week now. I tell ya I always feel like I have not really worked out if I don't do cardio. I am trying to get out of that mindset and focus more on weights.

Chevy's was wonderful yesterday. Okay, I did not have a salad like Christine mentioned, but I ate very little the rest of the day. I have also been very good at staying away from the sweets;-)

I am off to do weights. I will be back this afternoon for personals.

Cheers!

Susan

Hi Again!

Susan- Volunteering on the kids classes was always like a window to their school day. And it was ever so rewarding. Your approach to Chevy's was a healthy one. Just go have fun and keep the total amount for the day not too far out of control. Lately, I have a similar mind set about (only) 3-4 days cardio. I prefer 5 but I realize it is not always a good idea.

Christine - Jimmy is on the mend! Yea!

Wendi - I missed the comment about the 'boss remark' but I hope it didn't ruin your day!

Krist - How is Annamarie doing with pink eye management? You sure did make use of your time runing with your DD and your dog :)

Wendy - Wendy I can't believe you HM is so close! How do yo plan to taper? I think I might get brave and run a turkey trot this year. It would be nice to have a friend to do it with. There is a 10k about 25 miles away and a 4.4 mile run ( I know odd isn't it?) a bit closer.

Cathy - I had to check out the protein thing you and Jes were commenting on. I did not like my last protein powder/ meal repalcement product, from Vegan essentials. But I did finish it.

Shelly - I just have to ask: did you work the night followig your man against horse 27 mile race? How did you manage? And, where do you get these ideas for doing these races? i agree you might not be mortal! just kidding!

Lorie - ah Lorie there is always tomorrow for the return to Grace!

Carole - sports beans. I have never seen them before. Glad your teeth passed inspection!

Jess -Gosh, I am sure you are thankful your friends are not seriously hurt after the Chicago fiasco!

Jackie- I like Itread #9 too. How do you like IStretch? I have only done 3 Itread so far, but I can see purchasing more.

My 5 mile run was from home which means very hilly. But It was enjoyable. I let myself have a 1 mile easy warm up and then tried to hold tempo for the middle 3 miles. Going down hill was easy to go low 8" miles but going up hill was not!
There is a 0.2 mile unbelievably steep hill, that I have to walk, and even with that I finished in 47 minutes. I had no hip pain either.

PS- my 'empty nest' friends did the 2 day walk for breast cancer in NY this past weekend. Two of them did 26 miles and 13 miles and the other two did 16 miles and 13 miles. I am so proud of them!!!

Jackie...I have all but given up on any gels as the are just to sickly sweet. Besides the chewy stuff stays with you longer...:)..as it sticks to your teeth!! It is funny as normally when I compete I am rarely hungry after and have to force myself to eat something or I get a headache. Way to go with a 60 min sprinting iTread.

Susan...good job staying away from sweets. I wish I was better at avoiding salty snacks! I am more cardio conscious too. I do think most runners are. Have fun with your GS workout.

Judy...they have Sport beans in a few places, Rite Aid, Target, Walmart. I like them a lot better than gels for my longer runs. That is a good time for a hilly 5 miler. I am proud of your friends too...:)

I ended up doing Leaner Legs instead of PLB. I added some leg extensions and leg curls with about the same count as Cathe does the squats in...YEOW!!! But it was fun. Hopefully my DH gets off early today and we can do more work on the floor...:)

okay, i will ATTEMPT to do personals even though i feel like my muscles are bleeding from the inside!!! i am surprised that my inner thighs are so sore. i am thinking it's from all that jumping on one foot or another. at this rate, i might never *see* grace again!!! x(

wendi-do not listen to your boss! first of all, i didn't know you could injure your rib from running (unless you are falling) and second, no one should tell you you are bordering on anorexic!!! as far as running, i would run as many days as you feel like it. if you need a day off from it, your body will tell you.

shelly-you will have to keep us posted on your newest race!!! i am glad you will have some time off after today. enjoy it!!!

wendy-report back after your workout and let us know if you can walk!!!

carole-those sport beans look interesting. i was never able to tolerate those gels. what i used to do for really long runs and marathons was cut up pieces of a power bar and eat them as needed. seemed to always work for me.

jess-glad your friends were okay. sounds like a dnf for that race is way-okay.

jackie-i LOVE iTread 9/60! i had my best run with that just before i got sick (of course). i covered 7.3 miles by the time grace was done. for some reason, that one REALLY pushes me to go faster. i also love the fact that the hills are so small!!!

susan-glad you enjoyed chevy's. lol about your 8 year-old acting 15!

judy-WTG on your run!!! i have a real love/hate relationship with hills!!!

Good Afternoon Fine Cheetahs!:)

My work out is done. I did a leg/back circuit using 5 B&G exercises and 4 types of pull/chin ups from the X then I went and repeated all of the leg work another time through with out the back work. Finally I did the cardio from BBC Butt and Legs. }( All of that actually only took about an hour to complete! Tomorrow it's back to BBC Arms and Abs including the cardio...let the pain begin!:p LOL

BBL for personals!:)

Shelly :: The Bisbee Climb sounds (and looks) like an awesome challenge! Holy steepness! I have only been out West twice, but I love the look of some of those little towns… *lol* about trying with Chi but having the attention span of a gnat. I have been trying, too – with the basics – but the last couple of runs, my mind has been drifting…Hope you made out OK at the dentist. Glad you get to enjoy a few nights off.

Lorie :: ooh boy! Enjoy those DOMS. *lol* that it hurt to turn off the alarm. That’s when you KNOW you busted some butt.

Wendi :: I looked at Phyllis’s pics. You look great! Disregard your boss ~ he was clearly out of line there.

Wendy :: oh that’s great that DH might be able to get off!…I have heard about that run at the Empire State Building. I would be interested in it. Do you know when it’s being held next?

Judy :: Glad you enjoyed your run today. Sounds like a tough workout…What do you think ~ will you try BSN?…Big ups to your friends on logging in all those miles.

Carole :: I will let you know about the Yoga Toes...Oooh, LL!! That is my favorite (and most feared) leg torture…Hope you were able get more of the floor done… I’m still haunted by that pic. *lol*

Jess :: yeah, I remember you mentioning that on the BSN thread out on the Open Discussion forum. I usually buy instant flavored oatmeal but will pick up some plain so I can try that out. I’m sure it’s delicious.

Jackie :: are you all caught up now?…Hey, I think you’re already in the Shelly Club. :7 It's all about IITM training (Insane in the Membrane) ;) j/k, of course...I am in awe of ALL these fierce cheetah w/outs!!! I read about them and feel like a sloth. *lol*…I am feeling better today, thanks!…That iTread #9 sounds like a good one.

Susan :: sounds like you did well working in a Chevy’s indulgence. Glad you enjoyed being in DD’s class today.

OK, I wasn't sure if I'd be feeling up for today's scheduled run (thought I’d do Basic Step instead if I still felt like crud) but other than a sore throat/earache, I'm feelin' good. Yay!! I would've liked to get out there, but it looks like it's going to downpour any second and the weather forecaster is talking about lightning strikes, so uh, ixnay on that idea. But it's all good b/c my schedule this week requires that I make a few adjustments to the rotation, anyway. So that being said, I'll be doing Body Fusion tonight.

Hey Cheetah ladies!

Sorry I'm so late and so short today - busy day for some reason. Jimmy is in Doggie Day Camp having a blast - he's running everywhere! I did Yoga for Happiness Magically Hip with Mr. Finn (he's just sooo darned cute, but some of his phrases kill me - I'm sorry, but there is no yoga pose that feels like ice cream being licked off my body! But if he wants to try... :+)

Have a good day everyone! Glad the sick Cheetahs are on the mend!

*lol* That is hilarious, Christine! Good to see ya today!

ETA: Just finished BF with an extra riser & heavier weights. Great workout! No-brainer choreo, just a good ol' sweat. I can see, though, why you experienced steppers would find a workout boring if the combo goes on too long. But for me, for now, it's frustration-free, fun cardio! :) :) :)
