::: CHEETAHS ::: Go, Wendy!! Kick it! (Sunday)

RunninTeach

Cathlete
Reminded myself of the Beastie Boys there. :) 80s lovers, you can feel me on that one.

Good morning, cheetah babes!!!

Wendy :: I think that does make sense to consider shipping when we set the price limit…That means nobody ask for dumbbells! :) …I think the pre-race nerves are normal (esp. when conquering a new distance), but you are going to do GREAT. And you’ll have the cheetahs with you in spirit. AND what a VIP you are: even CATHE wished you well!!! :7

Wendi :: OMG, you had Elf Bowling on your cell phone??? IA, funny game…I have gotten myself hooked on this one: it’s a Pacman spinoff…work has been pretty steady…the first month or so of school is always whirlwind, but this year I’ve got a bit more on my plate with our curriculum overhaul and the certification I’m pursuing. I was thinking yesterday how it will be nice to slow down next year. I thought I might go for a second Master’s or maybe a PhD, but I may need some time in between.

Susan :: thanks for sharing about the premix…sounds like a great one! She gave us soooo many options, didn’t she? How could anyone possibly complain this time around?…*lol* about piggin’ out at the salad bar. Enjoy your dinner today. I am w/ you there on the indulging…yesterday was better but not perfect…pumpkin bread is my vice.

Kristi :: enjoy today’s 5-miler…I’d definitely like to do the card exchange again…I still have the address list from last year, so I don’t mind coordinating that again if folks are up for it again…You know, if we go with that wish list idea, you wouldn’t necessarily *have* to ask for anything fitness-related if you don’t want to.

Lorie :: thanks for the premix info…how long was it, approximately?…I need to do a total body weight workout today but am not sure what I want to do.

Shelly :: race report and pics, please!! :) Can't wait to hear.

So, is anyone starting a 4DS rotation? Or using these a certain way? I know there was a thread or two about this not long ago, but I was wondering how my fellow cheetahs plan to incorporate them.

This morning, I'll be doing a total body weight workout of some kind plus a short run. Then it's off to Wendy's race!!

Edited to fix my cut & paste fiasco!

Have a great day, ladies!

Happy Sunday,

super-duper WENDY- girl, you are going to do an awesome job with your run today. we are all so very proud of you!! did you get any sleep last night, lol. actually yesterday i did have to leave my house, i trained the lady in her home. I also taught class yesterday at the yw. good luck today!

cathy- sounds like a good workout today. i may just hold off on the new workouts until dec.(can't believe it) after my HM. I am thinking they would be perfect for dec. when i have so much running around to do. i am not going to participate in the gift exchange, however i would love to participate in a card exchange again. great idea!

carole- very soon you will have a kohls close to you. how exciting!! it really is a great store.

didn't get a chance to fit in a workout yesterday. today's workout is a 9 mile run!

ttyl....

Good Morning Ladies!

Cathy: I plan to start a 4DS rotation this week. I want to do the 4 work outs, a yoga day and a run. That's my plan....so far. As you know it's ALWAYS subject to change!:7
I definately will TM you with my info later. Good idea. :)

Sunny: Sorry you had to leave the house yesterday. LOL I know sometimes I just don't wanna. :p

Well I think the ol' elbow is just about at 100%! YEAY!:+ Too bad I don't have time to pump out 4DS bi/tri before the half!;)

I got up later then I thought I would. I actually had NO trouble sleeping last night at all! I was quite tired though. I had a cup of coffee and have to get dressed now. Then I'll have breakfast and pace back and forth for a while hoping not to upheave the breakfast I just ate until it's time to leave. :p

I'll try to get back here one more time before I head out!

Toodles!

Greetings Cheetahs :)

First of all Go Wendy! I've got you in my thought and prayers today.

Cathy nice going on the 6.1 mile run! I do think it helps to preview the step routines. But I usually jump right in. I do hope we do a card exchange again. I haven't sent out cards except to Cheetahs in two years. DH and I are ready to do do it again. Each year we try to eliminate one stressful holiday tradition and see if we really missed it. The last two years have been the cards. Other years it has been making cookies that has been eliminated. We host a major Annual Christmas Eve Celebration for my extended family which includes upwards of 40 people. We just won't give it up.

Kristi I hope you got in a nice 5 miles:)

Lorie On the UB 4D premix were all the exercises done or were any omitted? I would also like to know the duration of that premix. It might be my kind of UB work!

Susan I agree the salad bar can be dangerous. My food choices have bee yucky too, but I am trying to keep the quantity down... Thanks for asking about my hip. I believe I ran too fast in some iTread workouts. But no worries. :) I know what to do.

Christine What is up for your Sunday? ( besides football?)

Shelly Are we gonna get the details of the great step challenge?

Sunny Have an enjoyable 9 miler and stretch.

I may just make today a rest day. I have a 3 mile run scheduled, but yesterday was my scheduled rest day. However, I did 4D LIS/shoulders/core. And I have done 7 straight days.

Enjoy your Sunday Cheetah friends!

Just poppin in really quickly to say good luck to Wendy! I'm surprised to see you on the forum this morning. What time is your race?

Well, time to get the kids ready for church. I'll check back later, but not sure when. DS has a birthday party to go to from 3-5 and then I hope to fit in a 5 miler today.

Cathy - Great job yesterday on the 6 miler.

TTFN.

Good morning cheetahs

Go Wendy!!!....Good Luck...http://www.mazeguy.net/sports/running.gif[/img]

Cathy...I spent a lot of time playing elf bowling on my PC, like you I cannot imagine having it on my cell phone...how cool!! No, the choreo in just the CTX Power Circuit section is not tough at all, there are 6 circuits and the first 3 are short, easy, step routines that you do 4 times, then a blast and then the weights. The next 3 are kickbox style, a blast and then weights. It goes by real fast, the blasts are tough but not nearly as tough to me as the blasts in any of the Imaxes, or the Power Circuit blasts in BM2. Enjoy your weight workout and run. That is sweet you will be there supporting Wendy!

Sunny...I am sure I will be spending a lot of time and money in Kohl's!

Wendy...that is great you slept well last night! That will definitely help today. I cannot wait to hear how you do.

Kristi...hope you manage to fit in your 5 miler today.

Lorie...I live in Northern Calif. We have a couple of lakes and one is very low and actually this summer it was never very full which is not common. Glad the nazi didn't give you the DOMS as bad this time. Happy to hear your Gators won yesterday..Today is my football day.

Christine...sounded like a nice hike with Jimmy. So dropping acorns for you too! Just don't let Jimmy eat too many acorns, not sure they are good for dogs. Sorry about the achilles...massage and ice can help...

Wendi...I loved the part when the elves mooned too. That is so funny you had it on your cell phone. I remember laughing so hard once, that my ball went in the gutter hard and then came out in the snow and hit the buck!!..not sure I got any points for that..:)

Susan..so happy to hear you are enjoying the new workouts.

Judy...I have read so much about the Shoulder work in the new series! That has always been my favorite part to work. Enjoy your rest day today.

I am planning on a 12 mile run today. I also ordered some new Saucony running shoes, hope I get them next week. Then we will be working on our molding and watching Football!

Have a great day...:)

I've read the posts but have to get personals later. I'm running short on time here and have to hit the road soon.

Had a choice between drying my hair and looking like a civilized human being for a change or sitting here to slurp down a protein shake which means I'll be wearing a baseball hat. Guess which one I chose.

This morning I did:
4DS Legs (round #1 and 2 only)
Push/Pull push only premix (sans legs or back work - the latter of which has been a bit tight the past few days) - went heavy
2.5 mile run, which included 3 (giant) hill repeats
150 walking lunges

BBL!!

Hi All –

Today is a rest day. Might do some yoga – we’ll see. Party was a blast last night, but included a little too much wine. LOL. I’m not hung over – more like I’m a bit fuzzy this morning. Probably from the affects of wine and Indian Food. Not a good combo!

Wendy – I’m thinking of you! Hope you’re out there running your heart out and enjoying every moment!!! YOU GO GIRL!

Shelly – I’m DYING for a race report! Can’t wait to hear all about the stair climb!

Cathy - I’m not sure how I’m going to use the 4DS yet. Once I get them and do them, I’ll come up with something. Sounds like you got in a great workout!

Sunny – that’s actually not a bad idea – you don’t want to add something so new and tough a month before your half. But, you have much more control than I do! I was actually happy to see I would get them AFTER I ran! Enjoy your run!!

Judy – nothing exciting – just football and a good book. I love rest days! Sounds like you need one, too. Enjoy it – let us know if you managed to rest. :+

Kristi – Enjoy your run and your birthday party! Happy Sunday!

Carole – fortunately Jimmy seems fine. One of my pet forums had actually mentioned that acorns won’t harm dogs, but in limited quantities. He’s such a scavenger, though – he drives me nuts! Hope your run was enjoyable!! Enjoy your games!!

Well, I’m off to shower for the game – Pats vs Miami – and for some reason the Pats always do horribly against Miami. So we’ll see….

Cathy...sounds like a great workout!!

Christine...I only say that about the acorns as we had a Border Collie/Mcnabb cross that ate acorns constantly. She ended up with a severe liver problem and we had to put her down. The vet only "thought" it could have been caused by the acorns. Geeze, the Raiders beat Miami so I am confident the Pats will have NO problem!!

My run started off a bit scary....I saw a skunk!! http://classroomclipart.com/images/gallery/Animals/New2/TN_Striped_Skunk.jpg
And yes, it was light out so that is not good. I actually thought it was chasing me so I ran across a neighbors yard, and the damn skunk was running ahead of me down the street. I figured, okay, they don't spray unless you provoke them....and sure enough it ran into a culvert and I luckily ran by. The run was good and now I am watching some games and working on the molding...

Hey everyone! I'm checking in in hopes Wendy checks in and gives us a full report! :) I'm so jealous of that half. It feels like forever since I've "pushed" myself! LOL

Carole, I think I found out today that skunks hibernate, so you don't have to be concerned for long! (Okay, but is that really true that skunks hibernate??? DH can be a bit of a tease... and I'm too old to check up on his stories, I swear. LOL!!)

Christine, that cat cartoon has been cracking my husband up all week; I've sent it to as many people as possible. Hilarious.

WORLD RUN DAY: so we each have to register at active.com. I recommend going through www.runday.com to get there as that seems simplest. The cost is $18 and you get a t-shirt. :+

From active.com, you will enter the distance you intend to run and the time you expect to run it in. I myself am thinking of 5-6 miles.

The only way I can see to make this relate to Cathe is the "dedication" section: when you register, you can post a message about your run. I think if we each say something about Cathe or our Cathe friends or something that might work? I'd love to hear your ideas.

I just think it's cool that we can all do a run somewhat simultaneously... I know I've had several runs that if I think of you cheetah gals I can make it through! ;-)

Let me know what you think we should put in that message box; the limit is 100 characters or something crazy like that.

Hola, cheetahs! :7 :7 :7

Back from the race…Would you believe I arrived 2-3 minutes AFTER Wendy crossed the finish??? http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/grouch/th_doh.gif I should’ve left earlier!! I swear, I hit *every* stinkin' red light. Needless to say, she did GREAT! But I'll leave it to her to give you the details. Afterward, she, DH, and I went for lunch at a diner. (Sorry, Carole, no scrapple. }( )

JACKIE :: http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/grouch/th_doh.gif Part II…As I was driving to Wendy’s race, I realized I forgot to wish you luck for yours! Hope you had a great race.

Wendy :: thanks for the info on how you’ll be using the split. I need to make up my rotation for the next 4 weeks. What a super nice guy your DH is. Enjoyed meeting him and hangin' out with you again for a bit. :)

Judy :: hope you enjoyed your rest day, if you took it. I hear you on wanting to keep the holiday as stress-free as possible. One thing I do in that respect is I make sure ALL my shopping is finished by the end of Black Friday weekend. I then avoid the mall and most department stores until well into January.

Kristi :: hope you were able to fit in your run today.

Carole :: thanks so much for the info on PC…will have to give that one a go. Sounds good!…Sorry about the skunk encounter today…that would certainly put a little spring in my step. Glad it ended up being uneventful.

Christine :: hope the wine has worn off and you’re feeling a little better.

Hey Gang!

I don't have much time. We are heading up to my mom's to get DS but we are staying for dinner. :9

The race went well. What an amazing sense of accomplishment I feel right now. Those who've done it know what I mean. Those who haven't need to give it a shot!:D I came in faster then I thought I would! The official results/pics aren't up yet but DH was VIDEO TAPING it (YIKES!) and I appeared to have come in at 2 hours 30 min and 27 secs!!! I really thought I'd be closer to 2:45! Needless to say I was VERY pleased with my time!

The first 10 miles of the race went very very well. I was keeping an average of a 10:30 pace through the entire first half and lots of the way through the 10 mile mark. My legs were obviously sore by mile 10 but it was very tolerable and beyond that I felt fine. I was still able to kick out the 10:30 pace so I knew I was okay. After that I started to fade. Mile 11 was where it started to get tough cause I started noticing the first signs of my leg cramping up. YEOWCH!!!x(

Into the final mile I was in ALOT of pain. I have never felt anything like it. My legs were soooo sore and the cramping was making it almost unbearable. I kept pushing though. I took only one single unscheduled (additional) minute walking break in the last mile or so to help ease out a cramp that would have stopped me in my tracks if I let it take hold. By this time though it seemed as if, overall, walking hurt MORE then running! I found it odd but used it as motivation to continue to run when that minute "break" was up. By the last mile I was lucky to be doing a 12 minute mile most of the time. I was so afraid that my legs were gonna give out and I was gonna down before I finished. I couldn't let that happen! I went as slow as I had to (but still running) in order to make it across that finish line. I REFUSED to walk across it!

When it was over I wanted to cry. It was emotional to finish something so awesome but more so it was the pain in my lower body. They had been giving out gatorade at the finish but ran out so while I kept moving to try and walk it off or atleast avoid it getting worse, DH went and got me a bottle of gatorade. I am not a fan of the stuff but I never drank that stuff so fast in my life!!!! It took about 15 minutes once I started drinking it for the real pain to subside and I was left with the regular and expected soreness in my hips/legs.

When I was approaching the finish I was looking for Cathy and DH. I found DH but there was not hide nor hair of Cathy! A few minutes after the finish I TM'd her and we realized she had missed me by a couple of minutes. We finally found one another and was I surprised! She made a poster (that I am sure she planned to hold up as I passed her, LOL) AND bought me a little stuffed animal Cheetah!!! Soooo incredibley sweet! I couldn't believe it! The poster is decorated in cheetah stuff and says "Go Wendy! Kick it!" and on the back it says something like "What's next? 26.2!" with a smiley face! I am going to frame it and hang it in my work out room for certain and the stuffed Cheetah be right there with it!:+

We had a nice visit at the diner over lunch. I just wish we had more time but Cathy had work to do and I had to get home in time to rest/shower before having to pick up DS. It was so great to have her there though! :+

Cathy: I can't thank you enough for coming! It was soooo incredibly sweet of you and the "pister" and stuffed cheetah made the day even more special! Thank you from the bottom of my cheetah heart, girl! You are da bomb for sure!:)

Okay, I think I've babbled on long enough...I'm outta time anyway...gotta jet out the door now...

Hopefully I'll be stopping in again later when we get home from dinner!

Toodles!:)

YAY, wendy!!!! I am soooooooooooo proud of you. Many, many congratulations to you. I am so happy dh(and cathy) were able to make it after all. what a fabulous report:D

cathy- you are definitely "da bomb"- cheetah power!!

christine- i forgot to mention earlier. please let me know when you are in my neighborhood. i would love to GTG:)

Wendy - CONGRATULATIONS! What a great race report! You'll be surprised how sore you will be tomorrow, but it is so worth it.

Cathy - That was so sweet of you to cheer Wendy on like that. It brought tears to my eyes. (Yes, I am a big sap!)

Shelly - How was your race? I'm sure you did awesome. Can't wait to hear your race report.

Well, I got in my 5 miler today and thought of Wendy racing the whole time. It was so beautiful here today. Today was the 2nd day I used my Garmin 305. It is the coolest gadget ever, and I haven't even strapped on the HRM yet.

Well, I need to finish getting some stuff done around here. WAVES to all cheetahs. I look forward to talking to everyone tomorrow.

YAY WENDY!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! *Does Happy dance* I am so happy for you and so proud! You have come such a long way, girl! I'm grinning ear-to-ear for you!

Sunny - I'll be in North Carolina end of January. I will be visiting my dad, but I'll be flying into Raleigh, so I can take a short detour...

WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO Wendy!!!!!! You are such an inspiration! You should feel unbelievably proud of what you've done, especially in such an awesome time! I hope you have a very yummy dinner that you can indulge in tonight...you certainly earned it!

Cathy - Oh, that was so sweet of you to be there for Wendy with gifts! You rock! Wow, thinking about your PhD...that's impressive! I was planning on one round of 4DS with a couple of runs mixed in, followed by one round of BBC, again with a run thrown in. I may be in trouble }( with this plan though...I already have some decent DOMS working from the chest work yesterday. I can't wait to see what my shoulders have to say tomorrow about this am's LIS.

Sunny - How was your run today? I couldn't imagine holding off on the new dvds for that long. Now THAT is willpower!

Judy - I hope you opted for a nice relaxing rest day. You've been working hard, girl!

Kristi - ETA: We were posting at the same time. So glad you enjoyed your run today! This is absolutely one of the most beautiful autumns that I can remember around here!

Carole - I never hit the buck :-(. I wish i still ad that phone because I would just have to try that approach out lol. EEK about the skunk...it figured it got Sadie first it might as well go after you too! I hope you "enjoyed" your 12 miles today.

Christine - GO PATS! My mother is a big Pats fan...you *have* to be when you live in Mass, though. So glad you had a great time last night!

AmyG - I'll try to check that date out tonight...I keep forgetting. Thanks for the reminder!

Jackie - I can't wait to hear how your race went today! I'm sure you kicked some serious patooty.

Shelly - Where are you girl? Don't you realize that were all on pins and needles waiting to hear about that stair climb!?!

Susan - Wow, that is some serious cardio Friday night! I'll have to try that one out some time. I'm sure that put a pretty sizable dent in that Chevy's burrito :9! You've been getting in some great workouts...don't sweat the small stuff, eh?

Lorie - Yay, Gators! Sooo, how are the DOMS today? That sounds like a great premix...I'll have to try it once I do them straight through first.

I was able to get LIS in this morning (although I kind of made it HIS), minus calves and core. I wanted to do the core work but I just can't yet. Soon, I hope. I'm not sure if I'll have time to check-in in the morning. I have to get to work super early so I can get everything done before going for a trail run with my neighbor around noon...it should be gorgeous! I can't wait! Have a great night, Cheetahs!

Wendy! CONGRATULATIONS! Your review is so inspiring and you did so well in spite of the cramping. What a true Cheetah you are. Sweet dreams.

Cathy How sweet of you to make a poster and bring Wendy a Cheetah of her own!

I've been waiting to hear about our racing Cheetahs all day. Shelly ? Jackie?

Wendi Thanks for the well rest day wishes. I did keep it as a rest day :)

Carole not another skunk event!

Hello cheetahs! Checking in pretty late. I came back much earlier this afternoon but I've been busy having fun with Cathy's 4DS series! :7 :7 :7

First of all.... CONGRATULATIONS WENDY!!!!! But no surprise to me at all!!! I absolutely knew with total confidence that you'd be crossing that finish line today with a smile on your face. Great job!!! You can count yourself among the relatively few on this planet who have completed a half marathon... and you mostly ran it too!!!!!!!!!!    We are all so darn proud of you girl!!
I hope you are relaxing now and enjoying a well earned rest.

For my little tale now.. I had such a fun fantastic time:7 :7 :7
What a unique and wonderful experience this was. Bisbee is such a funky neat place to visit anyway. The whole town really gets into the spirit of this 1000 step stairclimb race. It was HARD!!!  But lots of FUN!!! I started out pretty fast to get out ahead because it can really back up on these long LOOOOONG
staircases which are narrow (only 2 abreast at the most) Anyway, once at the staircases you are pretty much compelled to walk (which I was definitely inclined to do anyway!! ) due to the crowd. It is still plenty tough though and you are out of breath at the top but have to start running again. Most of the street running was actually down hill but that didn't make up for those killer long stairclimbs!! There were 9 stairclimbs in all and by the last one my legs were jello but I still managed a pretty fast last sprint to the finish:7 I was hoping to get a time somewhere around 45-50 minutes but as it turned out I was a tad over 50 minutes at 50:18.
Oh well, I was unfortunately unfamiliar with the course and unsure about how hard to exert myself. It was a HOT day and I didn't want to overdue it!! Well, that time was still good enough to take 2nd in my division. I got a nice decorative tile as an award too.

After the race there was another event that my friends goaded and enabled me into competing in. It's called the Iceman competition.
Believe it or not I picked up a block of ice with a pair of tongs and then had to race up the longest staircase of all in Bisbee
153 steps pretty much straight up:eek:  Well, I disappointed my friends who thought I was made of steel. After the race these 50 year old legs had enough and the most I could manage was a slowish jog up those stairs, but I did do it at least!

Anyway, after that DH and I enjoyed Bisbee and antique shopping.
We had a BBQ party that night too. I had my Cathe dvds waiting here for me and I just dove right in! I did the Higher Intensity and
Lower Intensity workouts with weights and all, I was going to stop there but the Kickbox dvd was calling my name;-) so I had to try the cardio portion of that!

I'm downloading my pics after I finish here so hopefully I can share some with you tomorrow.

tata y'all

Congrats again WENDY!!

ShellyC

Hi Cheetahs!

Really tired. But, I wanted to check and see if Wendy and Shelly had posted race results.

Wendy - You did an awesome job! Congratulations! Knew you could do it. Proud of you!

Shelly - What an awesome job on that stair run! Congratulations on coming in 2nd in your division! You're one tough cookie.

My race went really well today. The temp was about 56 degrees. That was enough to keep the mosquitoes away until after the race. Then they were alive, kicking and hungry. It was a good day for a race. I finished around 1:39:45. That's about 5 minutes off last time. I only walked the last two hills and I kept a pace between 9-10 minute mile. I did the first two miles under 9 minutes. My left foot hurt a little. It sure does help running with others and keeping pace with them. That's 8 down and two to go.

After the race, DBF and I had breakfast at McDonald's. Wasn't too hungry after that. We went to a few more of the Parade of Homes too. It made me late getting home. I'm exhausted. Will try to catch up tomorrow.

Have a good night.

Jackie
