::: CHEETAHS ::: Glorious Sunday!

Cathlete
Good morning all!

I just wanted to get us started this beautiful morning!

I've gotta go get caught up on the goings on around here the past two days...

Good morning, cheetah babes!! http://www.smileyskit.com/happy-lol-dancing-smileys_files/cheezy.gif

It *is* a glorious Sunday. I just love the quiet of the early morning.

Jess :: Hunh http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/expressive/scratchchin.gif -- I typed up a personal for you y’day and don’t know what happened to it…I must have cut it off when I cut & pasted from Word…Anyway, I'll try again: great job on the 8 miles yesterday! Did you find any crafts?

Christine :: Poor Jimmy! http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/symbolic/bandaid.gif Hope his healing is coming along…I can’t believe he was sitting in the john to let you know he had to go. His intelligence is so remarkable! Did you enjoy the day to yourself yesterday?…I’m going to check out Magically Hips…Sounds like a great day you’ve got planned for today.

Shelly :: A solid’s night sleep must’ve felt so refreshing after those intense nights. What kind of time frame are you anticipating for the career change?

Wendy :: GREAT job picking up some speed in your training! How was the party?

Jackie :: *lol* about feeding the breasts…Glad everything’s moving forward for you on the house…Will you be moving closer to DBF?…Nice job on the 9.2 miler yesterday.

Lorie :: Sorry that you felt so lousy post-race http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/sad/sneeze.gif , but big CONGRATS on taking 2nd in your age group! http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/happy/applause.gif …*lol* about milking it for DF…Did he take good care of you?

Carole :: awwww! She’s a cutie. What are you going to name her? Cheetah, perhaps? ;) Enjoy your football day. http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/th_football.gif

Susan :: any word on Mary? Thinking of you. http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/expressive/pray.gif

Good morning, Wendi and all who follow!

My throat started bothering me just a tad last night, so to ward off anything, I am downing an Airborne this morning. I have NO TIME for a cold right now!

Today’s workout will be simply a run.

Yesterday when I went to GNC, the cashier talked me into buying their Women’s Ultra Mega Active multi-vitamin. It has green tea, gingko, and ginseng as well as electrolytes. I figured I’d give it a try but am wondering if anyone takes a special “active” multi-vitamin, and if so, if you think it makes a difference in your energy level, recovery, etc. TIA for any thoughts!

Have a GREAT day!!

I'm sorry I missed you all yesterday. It was a long day at work...another ride-a-thon. For some strange reason I still had energy to burn so I went out and ran my first 8 miler in 1:14:25. I hadn't really planned on running that far I just got into a groove. I actually wanted to keep going but I ran out of daylight x(. I had to do something to work off all of those pretzels I ate during the day }(. The funny thing is I HATE pretzels but they were there and a little too convenient to grab while I was between horses. While I appreciate the thought (clients bringing goodies to the barn) I wish she would've brought something like fruit. Her daughter carries a few extra pounds and has to really watch her weight if she wants to stay on the ponies and all I ever see the kid eating is carbs and protein bars x(. I'm done with my little tirade now :+.

Jackie - It sounds like you've had some great w/o's! Best of luck on your 10 miler next weekend.

Christine - Oh poor Jimmy! I hope the little guy is feeling a bit better today. It's hard to see them so uncomfortable. Also, give yourself a break, too, if you're not feeling great. You'll be back at it soon enough. Mmmmm...Sushi Bar!

Susan - Continued prayers and {{{{HUGS}}}} for you and Mary. I hope she is able to stay positive. Try not to think the worst.

Wendy - Congrats to your BF (and you) on the progress!!! It must be very rewarding to see her on her way to achieving her goals. Bowling is the other passion in my life but I only have time for 1 league. My SO and I have bowled together for a few years...that's actually how we met. I helped him fix something in his game and his average shot up 20 pins in one season, shooting his first 800. I think he's currently in the 220's and I usually hold somewhere around 210. I guess I can thank the genes...my father is a professional (now a senior) and did well enough. My goal was to try a few of the professional women's tournies but that tour went under just when I was ready to give it a go...oh well.

Judy - You're starting to sound like an iTread junkie lol. So glad you're enjoying your w/o's.

Cathy - Our season is quite long, too...36 weeks. Plus we always bowl in the summer league which is 14 weeks so we only have 2 weeks off a year. The 9:30 start time is a killer...TG it's only a 3 man team. Eek, LL followed by a run...your poor legs, girl! I hope you don't end up with that evil little bug that's been making it around our group. Enjoy the run!

Jess - Great run yesterday! I guess we were on the same wavelength. I wish your friend luck in Chicago! I hope you had a good time at the festival...sounds like fun.

Lorie - Congrats on the 2nd place...especially considering that you were definitely NOT 100%. I hope you're feeling better today!

Carole - Your new addition is too cute! That's amazing that he seems to be settling in that easily. I'm a sucker for strays. Every cat I've ever had has been a stray, including the one I brought home from school when I was 13...my mother was thrilled }(. Are you putting down new hardwood or carpeting?

Shelly - Eek, what a day at work! I'm glad you had a good night's sleep so you could bang out DM!

Waves "HI" to Gayle, Amy, and Kristi (I hope I didn't miss anyone).

I've got to be to work a little early today so I have to wrap this little novel up. BBL.

Bahh! Some people like the taste of Airborne. I'm not one of 'em. Glad it's gone. Now I can enjoy my tea.

Wendi :: great job putting in 8 miles yesterday after a long day's work...It is tough when someone brings food to you b/c you feel obligated to eat at least some of it or you appear rude. I wind up getting a lot of chocolate from students at the holidays. Some of the goodies are homemade and just to-die-for, but last winter I gained 7 lbs. over the holidays, so I need to keep that in check this year!... http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/th_wow.gif You and SO are some SERIOUS bowlers! I'm afraid I was a just-for-the-fun-of-it bowler. Best game might have been a 180 or so. *lol* It's too bad the pro women's league folded. That stinks!...I was doing a leg-intense rotation this summer that used LL quite a bit and generally called for legwork followed by runs 1-2x per week. I've really come to enjoy working legs that way. And oh yes, I am starting to get some minimus DOMS in my maximus... :D

Morning Ladies. :)

No work out for me today except perhaps the ab work I so kindly blew off y'day! LOL I did, however, do GS back. I couldn't phathom doing chin/pull-ups! I was sooo tired! I should have bit the bullet and done the ab work but I just couldn't...LOL

Judy: So how did it go in PA yesterday?

Carole: TY re the training. BF is happy but ofcourse, wants the results FASTER...as would anyone. LOL She knows though, that it's not magic and it takes time and work. She is just starting out and she still really needs to work on her diet. It's AWFUL! The new kitty is cute. I LOVED the name Cathy picked out for her. She can be our mascot!:7

Jess: Great job on the 8 miler y'day! I feel another half comin' on for you soon, girl!}(

Cathy: Hope you had fun with your college buddy last night. I am one who likes the taste of Airborne. Sorry you find it not so appetizing. Can't wait to hear if the new vitamins you bought make a difference.

Wendi: I had to really THINK about how to spell your name but managed to do it right the FIRST time!;) GREAT JOB on the 8 miler! WOOH! I thought I heard rumors that the women's tour was coming back??

Christine: I feel bad for poor Jimmy. Hope he's better soon! Sounds like a nice day you have planned with your DD! Enjoy it! TY for the training kudos. I am very happy with her results. :)

Shelly: Sorry for your couple of crazy nights on the job. Where are you going to find the time to study?? I wish you the best of luck with that! A change sounds like just what the doctor ordered! :+ Yes, Airborne kicked the snot right out of me!:7

Jackie: I am finding my legs giving out before my breathing on my long runs too. I take the runs slow so the cardio factor is not an issue but the poor legs and hips start to complain something fierce! Did you enjoy your bath?

Lorie: I am so sorry that you ended up feeling so awful! How are you today? Great job on the race! For being under the weather you certainly kicked some butt! WOOH!

BFN!

OMG, how could I forget to tell the Cheetahs this! LOL I went online to www.fwonline.com the other day and bought some fun stuff!:7

(CAROLE-you may be interested in this!) I bought a set of platemates b/c they sell the 1.25 pound pair for under $20.00 as opposed to the over $30.00 cost I've found most other places! :)

I also bought a set of 1.25 weight plates for my BB. I've been wanting something lighter then 2.5 plates but couldn't find them. I could have bought ANOTHER set of platemates but now I don't have to and the plates were so much cheaper!:)

Finally....scarey as it may be....I am upgrading my dynaband to the PURPLE ONE! I intend to continue using the green for upper body but I'd like to try the purple band for firewalkers!}( }( }( Will I regret this decision!? :7

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...The name they thought would be good for our kitty is Journey as that is the name of the church service we go to. I do like cheetah though...:)..I LOVE your sneezing smiley! So cute. I do hope the Airborne nips the sore throat quickly. I kept thinking last week I might be getting something but so far so good. Thanks, I am going to have fun watching FB today! I think that vitamin form GNC is probably a good one. I take one for women that I get at the health food store. Maxine Multi is the name. I do feel a bit run down if I don't take vitamins, could be in my head though...:)

Wendi...way to go on the 8 miles, and a nice pace too. I am a salt snacker myself...there are these mustard pretzels by Gardetto's...OMG...YUM!!!! http://www.emotihost.com/glass9/23.gif[/img] ..I was very surprised how well the cat did, even in driving home. She had no problem in the car at all! I have another cat and a little dog and they seem to be adjusting fairly well. We are pulling up some vinyl and carpet to lay down some laminate in my entry, dining room and kitchen.

Wendy...well, I think we all want results faster but I think your BF is coming along great! I am always amazed sometimes how badly people eat. Although I have the salt problem., I always try and eat well, and 3 good meals a day. Enjoy your rest day with maybe some abs...You will be fine with the purple band, especially for firewalkers!! Next is the silver/gray! Thanks, but I will pass on the platemates, after getting my Bowflex Select Tech dumbells, I have about all the weight amounts I need. I had planned to go to "Play it again Sports" yesterday to pick up some 10lb plates for my BB.

Amy...sounds like you had a nice rest week.

Christine...I so hate when I grocery shop after forgetting my list! Glad you got most of it. Your day with DD14 sounds very nice. Enjoy your yoga workout and I am sending more healing vibes to Jimmy...:)

Jackie...LOL! I have always been a sucker for strays. In fact this one is the spitting image of a stray that showed up at our house close to 19 years ago. Yes, I am sure our projects will keep us busy for quite awhile.

Our first night with the new kitty (Journey) went good. I am just happy with how she has eased into it. My calico is still a bit unsure, but as she is older it might take awhile for her and Journey to get along, if at all. I had another stray about 19 years ago "Tiger" and honestly her and Journey could be twins...I am planning on about a 12 mile run this morning and then http://www.emotihost.com/ver1/sports1/14.gif[/img]...plus more carpet tearing up...

Have a great day...:)

Happy Sunday Cheetahs!

I’m feeling pretty good this morning. I ate very well yesterday (and very carefully), so my stomach is not bothering me for once! I’m getting ready for Yoga for Happiness Full Bliss (80 minutes). I might throw in some abs before hand. Jimmy did not sleep last night at all – I put his cone on, and I don’t think he can sleep too well, plus he’s really itchy. I hope he heals soon. The poor guy!

Cathy – I love the quiet of early mornings, too. So nice. I just take the Rite-Aid’s Whole Source Vitamin. Seems to do well, but I don’t notice a big energy difference when I forget it. The Magically Hips is on the Eoin Finn’s Yoga for Happiness – there are about 2 different yoga routines with a few variations as well – for a total of 5 different workouts you can do. I really like it.

Wendi – way to go on the run! That’s a killer time, too! I’m impressed! So what do you do, exactly with the horses? And, YES, I love Sushi bars!

Wendy – Enjoy your rest day! And I know how your friend feels. I’ve lost 12 pounds, and I’m fitting into clothes I have not fit into for months, but I still want more weight off! I always say, Patience is a virtue, it’s just not one of mine. :+ But, I do remind myself that if it comes off slow and steady, that’s how it will go back on. I’ll take slow and steady any day! Great job on the shopping!

Amy – enjoy your workout tomorrow morning!

Carole – I like Journey for a name. Although with those spots, she looks a bit like a gray Cheetah. She is a pretty girl – those eyes!! Thanks for the healing vibes! I swear he’s simply milking it now… Enjoy your 12 mile run, and of course FOOTBALL!!

Hi to all who follow!!

Good morning everyone... hope it's a peaceful Sunday so far for the cheetahs! I'm feeling restored again, but I do go in to work again tonight, however only for one night and the weekends are usually mellower. I'll be heading out soon for a 6-7 mile run around my neighborhood hills:) No long run this weekend as I am tapering for next Saturdays Man Against Horse race.

Wendi- Great job on your 8 miles.... impressive time too:eek: Aren't you going to be doing an 8k race soon? Is your rib injury healed?
I empathize with you about the food situation at work. It's particularly bad for nurses. Patient's families are always bringing candy and other junk inx( Count me in as another in absolute awe over your bowling abilities:eek:

Cathy- What are you doing for a workout today? Hope your throat improves and doesn't progress to something worse! I just take a generic multi vitamin/mineral supplement without any of the added herbal supplements you mentioned. However they certainly can't hurt and I'll be curious to hear if you feel any difference. As far as the training to become a health/fitness instructor, I'm thinking it will take at least 6 months to prepare as this is a difficult certification. After that my hope is to find some part time work at our wellness/rehab center at the hospital and reduce my hours in the ICU.... kind of work into it gradually, but of course alot depends on if and when any openings becoming available.... so who knows?

Carole- Your new kitty is beautiful!! She's a lucky girl to have found such a fantastic new home. I like her name also!! One of my kitties I found while kayaking on a local river (someone had dumped him) so I named him Rio (river in spanish). I e-mailed you re: Las Vegas BTW. Have a great long run today and as always, enjoy your football!!

Wendy- Where will I find time to study??? Excellent question as I have been wondering the same thing myself! This may take me a while unfortunately. I just love shopping at fwonline. You can pick up some great deals on fitness toys. I got my dynabands from there also. You'll have no problem at all upgrading to the purple band.
I broke mine more than a year ago and have been using the silver band for pretty much everything. Do you have any more long runs scheduled before your HM?

Amy- I hope you feel rejuvenated with your rest week now!

Christine- Glad to hear you are feeling better!!:) :) Sorry to hear that your poor Jimmy is still itching:( and has to be a conehead dog for a while more. Have a great time with your mega yoga session today. I'll be doing more of those this week (tapering)
Your weight loss is really impressive BTW:eek:

Time to get the old bod movin out of here. When I get back I'll tackling PUB.

ShellyC

Hola Girls.

My BF is on her way down as we speak. I have time to get in personals before she gets here so here we go!

Carole: So glad your first night with the new cat was a good one. I hope your other cat eventually accepts her.

Christine: Enjoy your yoga! WTG on the 12 pound weight loss! How long did that take you?

Shelly: Enjoy your short run. When is your Beast race again?? :+ I was supposed to do one more long run this coming weekend but I am going away. I was going to do it the following weekend but that's only one week prior to the HM. Do you think that would be okay or am I better off forgoing it. It would be 11.5 miles.

Time to get the duds on and comb the hair. I've been cleaning all morning so I look like cr@p! LOL

Later Taters!:+

Hey Wendy.... there is no rule that long runs have to be done on a weekend ya know! Is it feasible at all to be doing your 11.5 miles the following Mon or Tues? Anyway, if it isn't since your goal for your HM is only to finish and you'll be walk/running it I think you'll be fine with doing your long run a week out. If anything it will give you a confidence boost.

My Man against Horse "Beast" race will be Sat. Oct 6th.

I just finished a pretty decent 6 mile hill run... felt good :)
Now on to pump up the upper body!

I forgot to say hi to Jackie earlier!.... hi Road Warrior! Whatchyaupto?
ShellyC

Christine...sorry Jimmy had a rough night...:(..itchy is supposed to mean it's healing...right? I am glad your stomach is better today. I think I decided to change my kitty's name a bit...JC for (Journey Cheetah!)

Shelly...thanks re my kitty. As I posted to Christine I think she will go by JC. I got your email and thanks, LV should be fun!! Enjoy your hilly run and PUB.

Wendy..thanks, I hope both cats get along too.

My run went very good. I did this 12 miles about 32 seconds per mile faster than the last time I did the same course 4 weeks ago! So about 6 mins shaved off from last time!! YIPPEE!!! Chi running is definitely helping me...Brett Farve broke the passing record so DH is way happy. Off to watch some more FB...:)

Hi again, cheetahs!!

Wendy :: Woohoo on upgrading to the purple. I think I’d like to do that, too…My green band is about ready to go...That's also where I ordered my platemates. I've been meaning to get another set as well as 25#s.

Amy :: hope you have a better week.

Carole :: I like the name Journey ~ how fitting!! ~ but JC, now THAT’S a cool name! Hope CiCi adapts OK. It is harder for older cats to accept newcomers…I haven’t taken vitamins since before the Accu (couldn’t b/c of the Vitamin A). I wish they would make these things chocolate-flavored…Oh, speaking of snacks…I know you’re a chip person…Have you tried Eat Smart’s Veggie Crisps? I bought the cheddar and jalapeno yesterday. One serving (21 chips) is 130 calories, 7 g fat, and 2 g fiber. Quite tasty…awesome job with your 12 miler!!

Christine :: glad to hear your stomach isn’t bothering you…I’ve added Yoga for Happiness to my amazon shopping list…Just curious: how in the world do you pronounce that guy’s name? Looking at the DVD cover, he’s got quite the bod on him…Holy smokes! 12 lbs.?? That didn’t take you long at all. WTG!

Shelly :: I ran today. So far so good, the bug is contained. I’ll let you know how I feel after a couple of weeks taking these multis...Hope it's a quiet night tonight for you!

It was about mid-day by the time I made it out there for my run. Another perfectly gorgeous day. http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/th_sun2.gif Put in 3.1 miles with my booteus maximus http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/th_buttrub.gif feelin’ it every step of the way (thanks, Cathe) and followed that with 200 walking lunges. As I finished my last set of 25, Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing” came on my iPod (which was set to shuffle, so it was completely random) -- appropriate enough, eh? http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee296/runninteach/th_laughing.gif

OK, I'm off to make a protein smoothie with the unbelievably delicious Dessert Lean Cinnamon Roll protein powder. It is just too, too good!!

Shelly: If DH were not working O/T I could easily do a long run during the week but with him not getting home until 6pm, it makes it tough. I have been doing my runs in a park that now closes at 7:30. I won't have nearly enough time to finish the run. :-( Even if I run right in my neighborhood I am hard-pressed, at my slow pace, to finish before it gets dark! I think I'll be okay doing the run a week prior too actually. I never feel any DOMS or anything a week afterwards. If anything my legs are tired for just a couple of days. I will also make any other runs I do that week slow and easy. :) October 6th, huh? KEWL! I can't wait to hear about it! That sounds really wild!!!!!}(

Cathy: I just bought a set of 25# DB's. I used them for back work yesterday. YIKES!}( You have platemates already? Did you want to get the other weight they offer?

Good evening Cheetahs!

Rest day for me today.

Cathy - No, I will not be moving closer to DBF. I'm only going about 2 miles from where I am now. Hope you're not coming down with a cold. I never taken an active vitamin. Right now I take Centrum Silver. Don't like the taste of Airborne either. I stick with EmergenC.

Wendi - Great job on the 8 miles! Good time too! I have to turn my head at times when the chocolates start finding their way into the office. It sounds like you burned off those pretzels and then some.

Wendy - Really enjoyed that hot bath yesterday. It may be all in my head but I think my legs feel better afterwards. Did you enjoy your no workout day? I have the red and blue bands for firewalkers. Is the purple more resistance than what I have? I can't remember. The green didn't do a thing for me. Enjoy the Chinese!

Amy - Hope you enjoyed the rest week so that you can kick butt this week. :)

Carole - What a unique name for the kitty. I had a stray at my house a couple of weeks ago. I was going to call the animal shelter but found the kitty dead in the yard the next day. Looked like something attacked it but don't know what. Felt really bad. I wish whoever keeps dropping the strays on my doorstep would have their cat fixed or something if they don't want more kittens. It just burns me up.x( Glad your stray is adjusting well. Great job on the 12 miles! Congrats on improving the time.

Christine - Glad you feel good. Like the names of the yoga workouts you've been doing but 80 minutes is just too long for yoga. Hope Jimmy heals soon too. Poor baby!

Shelly - Glad to hear you're feeling rejuvenated. Hope work goes well tonight. Did you have a good run?

Enjoy your night.

Jackie
