Just starting post will be back!

Good morning all of you sleepy Cheetahs!! I'm on the West Coast and am starting the thread. Okay, okay, I have one eye open and am desperately gulping coffee. Our very good friends called us and asked us to join them for dinner last night at 9PM! Holy cow, I can't eat that late! So we ate before and went to a cute little outdoor tequila bar and grill at 9:00. I was good - had half a glass of wine and some fancy sparkling water. I left DH there and left at 10:30 knowing I had to be up for a run this morning with Carole! DH was dropped off at 1:30AM by our friends. I do have to say that he was on his back snoring happily away, so I tried to get him to roll over. He started chuckling and saying, "Oh, no, no, no, that's fine." I started laughing too. I don't even want to know what he was dreaming about...

Anyway - that's my agenda for this morning - an 11 mile trail run with Carole. I hope I survive. :+ Time to go get ready!

Christine & Carole, Oh that sounds like fun! Hope you both have a blast! I wish I was a Cali girl...I'm jealous! Not that I could do an 11 miler with you gals but to get to meet you would be awesome!:)

Christine: Since we share such a LOVE of bugs, LOL, I figured you'd appreciate my problem here....We currently have a cricket loose in the house...and OFCOURSE he's taken up residence in my work out/computer room! He reared his ugly head 2x last night while I was in here and I almost had a heart attack! LOL I sent DH to try to kill him but the lil' dude is just too freakin' fast!x( The last I saw him, DH was trying to get him and he ran by my sneakers! I am now deathly afraid he'll be IN one when I put them on today! I have to remember to shake them out first! LOL

Well, I was supposed to get my arse outta bed EARLY for a run but missed that mark BIG TIME! LOL It was ridiculous by the time I dragged my bootie out of bed so I'm probably going to make it a short hill run on the TM instead. }(

Yesterday's bbq was fun. It cooled off a bit and was shady on the side of the yard where we sit so we were actually able to eat and hang out outide. Everyone went to the boardwalk after dinner and I was snoring on the couch before they even came back...I was tired! LOL

Hope everyone has a pleasant Sunday!:)

This is my second 'run' at posting, lost the first onex(

I ran just short of 12k this morning at a 6:16/km, seems to be a comfortabley challenging pace for my long runs (run 10 walk 1) I even skipped my last walking break. It was a really great route, out my front door and straight on for 6k to Lake Ontario and back. Beautiful breezes and a long incline on the way home (and 1 hill). I went out dancing last night and played some pool for the first time in years. It was really fun dancing to an Aerosmith clone band, perfect for this '70's girl.

Christine and Carole, sounds like you are in for a wonderful day, I'm a bit jealous too:) Enjoy your run and your visit!

Wendy, my 11 year old Faith is the resident bug catcher here. She doesn't kill them but takes them outside, it's very sweet but I have to try hard not to show how ickey I think they are. Crickets in the house are good luck but obviously the 'ick' factor is greater for you than the superstition.:) Hope you have a good TM run!

Happy Sunday fellow Cheetahs!

Take Care
Laurie:)

Hello Cheetahs! I'm back from the run with Carole and her sister, Karen! I really enjoyed it and Carole is everything you would imagine and more. And her avatar photo does not do her justice. Her sister is a brunette version of her - it's so funny - they have the same smile and you can really tell they're sisters. I really felt relaxed and had a good time with the two of them. Of course I fell (I don't do that alone, just when I have others to enjoy the spectical!) so I have a nice bruise on my hand - weights will be interesting, but oh well... We ended up doing the 8 miler because of time. The weather was nice and cool and the day just gorgeous. I'm very happy to have met our hero - just wish it could have been under better circumstances. I got back just in time for DH to go the gym. So, I'm going to grab a shower, and take a nap! :)

Wendy - absolutely shake out your shoes! They like to hide! Crickets don't bother me too much - they're just BIG. I'm really not into anything with more than 6 legs. :) I literally scan the rooms before I sit down so nothing drops on me. *shudders* My 13 yo DD will kill spiders for me and her sister - she doesn't see what the fuss is about - and now that we have West Nile in the neighborhood, she argues with me about killing them, so I let her do the catch and release thing. I tell her that as long as they are not INSIDE, I don't care.

Happy Sunday all!

Laurie: Sounds like a great run this morning! What week of your training program are you in, btw? My 5k is coming up FAAAST! I can't believe it! YIKES! LOL

Christine: I can not wait for my DS to be big enough to go on "bug duty" for me!;-) Ofcourse he'll probably want to catch the ones that are outside and bring them INSIDE to keep as pets!!! ACK! LOL

So I went to the gym and did one of the pre-programmed hill runs. I just chose my speed, level and time and the treadmill did the rest. It was a great run and I'm surprised how well I got through it. I expected to have to walk at some point but I didn't! The highest incline was 5%. It was mostly 1 minute intervals between hills and flats and the hills got progressively larger and smaller. It was great! Can't wait to do it again!:) It was a 30 min/2.75 mile run by the time I was done.:)

Hey Wendy:) I'm just starting week 8 of a 16 week program, YIKES is right, I'm half way to my half!!!!:D The run is Oct. 1st, when is your 5k? That's fantastic that you didn't have to take a walk break during your run today ^^^^5!! For a couple of Cheetah kits I dare say we're doing very well!!!}( :7

Take Care
Laurie:)

Hey Laurie...My 5k is Saturday September 2nd! I'm nervous but very excited as well! I can't believe your half is so close too! WOW! I give you credit for going for the gusto! I would be too afraid to do what you are doing! ^5 to YOU!:)

Hi Laurie, Christine, Wendy, Carole and the rest of you Cheetahs who are AWOL this weekend. Today was a rest day (I golfed, and of course walked the course) DH thinks it might be a good idea to run the golf course early in the morning as it is very safe. I would have to figure out the distance. And it is of course very hilly.

Laurie- We just moved to a different suburb in a nieghboring county. We are only about 20-25" minutes form our old nieghborhood.

Barb- I would like to thank you for the hip advice. I am doing really well (knock on wood) with the increased leg exercises, stretching and lower milage. This week I will aim for three runs and one high level circuit workout like the Gaultlet or Hard Core Extreme.

Wendy-
It sounds like your BBQ and your run both went well :)

Laurie - you're doing wonderfully! Half way there - eh?

Wendy - you'll do wonderfully, I know! I'll bet you're excited! And that is one reason I'm glad my DD was a DD and not a DS - no bugs... *shudder!!!*

Judy - Hey there! Enjoy your hilly golf course run tomorrow morning. Sounds ideal actually - grass is the best surface to run on!

So, I took a nap (lack of sleep, more than physical tiredness from the trail run - I feel good actually) and I'm back in action. I am OFFICIALLY signed up for the Rock N Roll Half Marathon in San Jose. Sounds like fun - 14 bands and 15 cheer squads and a big concert afterwards. Plus it's a flat half - through Downtown San Jose with start and finish close to each other!!! So parking won't be a chore! Anyone want to run this one with me? October 8th. www.rnrsj.com.

Hi Runners

Sorry I have been AWOL--
Hopefully I'll be able to check in regularly soon.

Did a 10 mile run today and felt ok during and after -- but had to push myself to get out the door. About five hours later, I went for a walk with a friend, which felt like overkill -- but we needed to get together, and for me walking is better than sitting for that hip of mine!

Judy -- So glad your hip is better and that my advice worked. Yahoo!! Keeping up the leg strengthening, floor work & ab work + stretching has made the difference for me not getting reinjured...

Christine-- I wish I lived in Calif. I'd be joining you for the BBQ and a run. It sounds so wonderful to have met Carole. How totally cool you could run together with her and her sister. You were probably falling to show your worthiness??? :+ I hope you are ok after the fall, though! It sounds so much like something I would do! (Splat!)

Wendy-- you will do great on your 5K. How are the shoes besides the bugs??

Laurie -- so cute about your daughter's peaceful feelings towards bugs and insects. Great job being at the halfway point in your training program. What a good feeling.

Carole - I'm still praying for your nephew and hope the news to come is good.

More later in the week ( I hope!!). Summer is busier for me with kids than the school year.

Hi to all the other Runners checking in later today!
-Barb

:) :) :)

Judy: Running on a golf course sounds nice. Let us know what the distance turns out to be. Glad your hip is feeling better.

Christine: That Rock n Roll half sounds like fun. Too bad I'm not even close to prepared for a half or a west coast girl. If I were, I'd do it with you!:)

Barb: Good job on the 10 miler! Walking is great even if you've already exercised. I love taking a walk on nice days. The shoes are wonderful so far. My knee is very happy as are my feet, etc, etc. I haven't taken them outdoors yet but tomorrow is my class so I'll have the chance then. :)

Went to look at a few open houses today with DH. Nothing that thrilled us though the one house was very nice...it was just a bit too small. We saw a house last weekend that was perfect for us but w/o our house not even being up for sale yet, we can't do anything about it. Still need to look some to get a feel for the market though. My real estate agent went on vaca and was supposed to contact me when she returned. I swear she would have been back by now but I haven't heard from her. I'm going to call her tomorrow....I want to get this show on the road already!

Hi Wendy--glad the shoes are making your knees and feet happy. I hope they feel as good outdoors as on the TM. House shopping is labor intensive. I'm sure you will eventually find something that is perfect for you, DH, DS and kids to come.

Thanks for the congrats on the 10 miler. It was hard today with the heat. I had to do cheers in my head to keep going on the last 2 miles....I agree walking is great, but sometimes it can feel like too much. It was good today, though!

Have a great rest of Sunday. :)
Barb
:)

I just wanted to check in so I stay on track durning this heat spell.
I didn't go out to run yesterday as planned. This heat wave is a motivation buster. I keep planning to get up early to run but I've been wimping out. I've only run twice this past week.
Yesterday I did Cathe's Kick Punch and Crunch instead of a run. Today is Push Pull. Tomorrow I plan to do an am 5 mile steady run if I dare go outside. It's supposed to be over 100 tomorrow with a heat index of 110 but this stuff is supposed to break by Wed.
I've been running steadily since the end of April. One week off shouldn't hurt me too much. Will it?
Colleen ;(

Hey Barb! Oh, I was sooo not worthy, but I basked in the reflection of the worthy! I did enjoy the run, though!

Wendy - Well, if you would like to join me, I'm going to be walking some of it, no worries, and I'll be happy to help you out with housing. (We have plenty of floor space) You get to San Jose, we'll take care of the rest - otherwise, what's the fun?

Colleen - Hope the heat is gentle to you! I know the hot, hot temps! They are NOT fun!

Hugs all -

Barb: I actually enjoy house shopping...it's the house SELLING that is going to make me crazy. LOL

Colleen: I don't think a week off will hurt you at this point. I know what you mean about getting up early to get a run in before it starts to get too warm. I have a hard time doing that myself.

Christine: Oh, I would looove to come out there but it's just not in the cards right now...:-( Maybe in the future though? DH and I DO so want to make it out to Cali on vacation some day anyway!;)
