Changing workouts while pregnant?

Hi,

Just found out i am pregnant and am in good shape and scared to loose that. Did any of you have to change your workouts or did you continue along the same path? Can you still work your abs? Also is it hard to get your abs back with a c-section?

Thank you and sorry for all the questions.. mind is racing!

CONGRATULATIONS...I did not modify my workouts until my body told me to. I did try not to get over heated at anytime during the pregnancy and I continued to work my abs on my back until my 11 th week. after 11 weeks i did planks or abs on my stability ball on an incline. most people say that you should do the talk test during your workouts, if you can talk than you are getting in enough oxygen. after my 6 month I did have to stop jumping and jogging was out of the question. a lot of the women on this site are amazing and keep up their workouts until they give birth(shopaholic, morris)i must say that recovery is much easier if you do keep your fitness level up throughout the pregnancy. keep us posted and you should join the preggo check in.

Hi, I am 23 weeks pregnant and was in great shape before I got pregnant. I have had to modify my workouts substantially because of exhaustion, morning sickness and pelvic pain - and lately the summer heat. I was scared about losing my fitness, but since I have been feeling a little better the last 2 weeks and it hasn't been too hot (no air conditioning in my country), I can get back into it at an intermediate or low impact level. I was told by my midwife not to continue with ab work or to do anything that required me to lie on my back after the first 12 weeks. I am really hoping that I can get back into shape after the baby is born - but I just need to relax and realize I can't control everything - just do the best that I can. Good luck!:)
