Cathe's Non-Step Cardio?

Cathlete
Good Morning All:

I want to get more of Cathe's non-step cardio workouts. Right now I have KPC, BC and KM. However, I am far too uncoordinated for step. I have tried, but I just can't pick it up. Anyone give me some additional non-step routines of hers?

Barring that, any other klutzs out there done her basic beginner step DVD? Is the choreography *really* suitable for the two-left-feet-can't-even-do-the-Hokey-Pokey gals amongst us? A lot of beginner step routines make me feel like I'm auditioning for 'A Chorus Line' on Broadway.

thanks!!

Sparrow

I think MIC is the only other one? It has a step section but the first part is floor. And truthfully the step section is intense but very basic so maybe it'd help you adjust to Cathe's step routines.

Hi Sparrow,

The first half of Maximum Intensity Cardio is a 30 minutes hi/lo floor routine that is very intense. It has a lot of impact and a fast bpm. The second half of that workout is intense stepping, but the choreography isn't very tricky at all; you may eventually be able to pick it up. The workout is very easy to divide - you don't have to do the step workout after the hi/lo if you don't want to. Many people do these two segments on different days.

Cardio Kicks is an all hi/lo, kickboxing workout. It's very different than KPC and KM. It's more choreographed, but not too hard once you've tried it a couple of times. Other than that, Cathe doesn't have very much non-step cardio. Kickbox from the CTX series is also all kickboxing, and not a dancy/choreographed workout. It's short, though. I never feel like it gives me enough cardio.

Her Basic Step workout is really, really simple choreography, and yet it isn't boring. She breaks down the moves alot, and the bpm is on the slower side, so you can keep up pretty good. I recommend you give it a try. Body Fusion is also on that dvd, and it's higher intensity, yet she still keeps the choreography quite simple. I recommend you give it that dvd a shot.

Step Heat is an old Cathe video that has quite simple choreography, at least for the first combo (30minutes). You could give that a try.

Let us know what you decide!

I am going to order Cardio Kicks. I plan to order a step in the next few weeks as well and if I remember correctly beginner step dvd comes with that? So, I will give them both a whirl.

Thanks again!

Hi, Sparrow:

I am a step KLUTZ. I bought IMAX2 months ago and have attempted it twice. Key word here: "attempted." LOL It was NOT pretty and I thought I was going to be seriously injured. I gave up on Cathe step for awhile.... however, I recently went through a period where I was getting really bored with weights and the cardio I have (lots of kickboxing). I had purchased the High Step for weight work and it came with the High Step Circuit workout... I tried this and discovered I really, really like step. I still couldn't do IMAX2, so I bought Basic Step/Body Fusion and Cardio Hits, which has some of her earlier workouts. These are MUCH more logical places to start and the workouts are really, really good. Basic Step is VERY basic but is good for learning some of the basic moves. Body Fusion is more complex and interesting (and thus more difficult, but a great workout and a good starting point). PowerMax rocks! I love this workout. I haven't really done the others yet, as I am trying to "get" a workout before moving on.

Sorry this is long, but the point is, Cathe's step workouts are really awesome, but if you are new to that kind of workout, it is much better to start in a logical place. Ergo, I would recommend you start with Basic Step/Body Fusion and either Cardio Hits or the Classics Vol 1.

Cheers!
Marie
