Cathe Step Workout recommendations?

I've been doing lots of home video workouts for years and years, including the Firm, FitPrime, Sharon Twombly and Christi Taylor, but never had problems learning choreography until Cathe's workouts. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE them! I adore Drill Max, Kick Max, Core Max & Stretch Max, but I'm just having a real problem following her choreography in the step workouts. Granted, I'm a Cathe newbie, so maybe it's just me. I get somewhat dyslexic at some point early on and totally lose my sense of left from right, especially when she starts moving in all four directions. I'm thinking that maybe I need to start with easier step routines than what I've been doing, and eventually, I'll catch on and be able to do more complex moves. Any ideas where to start?

Which step workouts do you have? The IMAX's don't have very complicated step segments. Athletic step is meant to be for those who don't want complicated step routines. Cardio Core Circuits and the Hiit's are great cardio workouts without step routines though some do use the step. One of my first Cathe step workouts was Low Max and I only had trouble with one combo on that and I just kept trying until I got it. Good luck!

I also have a hard time with Cathe's newer video because she doesn't break it down like her older videos. Her older videos she breaks it down more. You can try her classic volume video or cardio hits which is great. Also some of the step for the Hardocre series and the Intensity series are great.

I was always afraid of step because I have two left feet and no dance background. I always thought I would be awful at it.

My first step workout was Cathe's Basic Step. I fell in love with step from that point. I think that is a great easy workout to get to at least get comfortable with Cathe's terminology and style. From there you could go into Low Impact Step and other older step workouts as mentioned by others.

Good luck and don't give up!

Oh and I always, always preview the workout the night before I plan on doing a new workout. That way I can mentally prepare and even rewind certain segments in case I am not sure what steps are being done.

Thanks, everyone! I have Athletic Step (which I found impossible to follow, even just five minutes into it) and Low Impact Circuit, which I actually managed to get through, but it was really difficult for me. I also have Cardio & Weights, which had choreography way too complex for me, from the very start. I've never had this problem before with step workouts, but obviously, Cathe's style is new to me and maybe I'm just having trouble geting used to how she does things. As I said in my earlier post, I love Drill Max and the others I have, but they're not step workouts, which I always loved when I did the Firm and especially, Sharon Twombly. I don't expect to learn a routine the first - or even the third - time out, and I do review it before doing it for the first time, but it's when Cathe starts using all four directions that I simply get turned around and can't follow her. Is it the mirror thing?

BTW, I did do one of the HiiT's (40/20?) and even though I loved the idea of it, I think it was too advanced for me at this point. I may try Intensity Series (which one?) and Low Max. Thanks, guys!

I find the Cathe's older step workouts (Cardio Hits, the Classics) are the easiest to follow.

Low Max was my first Cathe cardio workouts after coming over from the FIRM. I find that one pretty easy to pick up.
