Hey Cathe! Okay here is the deal: I have been working with you for a while and I have been doing your "Gym Style Legs"/ "Butts And Gutts"/ "High Step Circut: Level Beginner/Intermediate"/ and an older VHS "Basic Step" And getting good results in my legs and glutes! But When I get to the Abs part of "Butts And Gutts" I find it's a little more advance then the other Ab workouts in the videos I mentioned above and 'those' Ab workouts are not challenging enough. You get what I mean? I always worked on my legs and glutes but never really worked my upper body.....So I guess my question is > I think I need a DVD that is a good Upper Body and Ab workout but not to challenging as with my leg workouts I want to build up my endurence to do more advanced workouts......Do I make sense.

Hi, Luis! I know I'm not Cathe, but if you want to train your core muscles including the abs, I'd suggest the following DVDs:

Ab Hits (a compilation of about 14 ab/core routines from Cathe's productions prior to the Intensity Series, with many premixes of these same routines); and

Core Max (from the Hardcore Series; three stand-alone extended routines for the floor, with a stability ball, and with stability ball and med ball; this DVD also has premixes from these three initial routines as well).

For upper body routines, well . . . there are almost too many to count. I'll leave it to Cathe and others to suggest.

Yep, I'd recommend both those Ab/Core DVds also.

For upper body, you could effectively use an all over muscle endurance and conditioning tape to get you started. Either Muscle Endurance, or Muscle Max or Max Intensity Strength (this last one now somewhat dated). These workouts will give you a solid repertoire of approx 3 exercises for each muscle group to help you build a foundation for strength training. Of course, they will also include exercises for the lower body, which will give you more exercises to challenge yourself.

Once you feel you have a solid base. You can move on to routines that target just the upper body, like Pyramid Upper Body (PUB) and the Cross Train Express (CTX) upper body split.

After that, you can start to focus more on working fewer muscles at each session, but working them to exhaustion to obtain superior strength gains. For this, there are a wealth of DVDs from which to choose. The best: Gym Styles. There are 2 DVDs which focus on the upper body exclusively. These are both excellent. If you want to slow down the pace and lift as heavy as you possibly can, while perfecting your form, try the Slow & Heavy series, also excellent.

Hope this helps,

Clare

Hi Luis! After we release the new DVD's (I believe in just about over a week), I will be announcing the upcoming workouts. I will have a solution for you.
