Cathe, a question about humidity and exercise

Hi Cathe,
I was working out in the gym today and it was very humid. I was passing the time thinking about how humidity affects the body compared to dry air. I realize that humidity makes it harder for your body to cool off due to the lack of moisture evaporation from the skin. But I always hear people saying you will become dehydrated more readily in humid air. How can this be? I would think you'd become more dehydrated much quicker in a dry air environment because moisture "wants" to leave your body more in this air than it would in the humid air due to the moisture gradients in each environment. The gradient from body to air in the dry environment should be much steeper than that for humid air. Plus in high humidity you are breathing in more moisture than in dry air. This would help some, I would think
I think this may have been brought up before but could not find the answer when searching your archives.
Thanks! Hope you and the family are well!

ps- I'd rather that Cathe answer this only, if she has time!
