Maybe cats don't generally look at cows in the field and think "yum!" If they were living in the wild, they would be eating things like rabbits, mice, rats, etc. I doubt that they would even think of a cow as food!
My cats prefer chicken or even more turkey and once they had an opportunity to have pheasant and thought they died and went to heaven. Two of them also like ground lamb that I can get from the local butcher. As far as beef goes sometimes yes for 2 of them and one of them loves it almost rare. My sons work at a 5 star restaurant so sometimes they get food from there. There were no rejections for the filet mignon. They all ate it. They also eat a high end dry food and like Fancy Feast so their interest in that is waning. I would love to cook for them but they are so hard to please!
