I was thinking about you today while I ran in the rain and remembered that around this time last year you ran a 50K trail run. Did you run the same race this year, and if so, how was it?

Hi Shelley......I will be doing a 50K in July, on the 15th in Oregon. Last year I did the 15K there. In March of 2005 I ran my last 50K trail run in Calif and it was a tough one. Thanks for asking..... How has your hip been?...

It's been okay. I'm taking it very easy, as it still twinges on me occasionally. I haven't been running much, though as mentioned, I did today, just 5K, and it seems all right.

Carole, is Ashland close to Portland? Portland is supposed to be the most vegan-friendly town in the US. I know someone (the head dude at the Vegan Bodybuilding and Fitness site) who is going to be living there soon. If you plan to be near Portland, I could get you two in contact, and he could give you some good info on places to visit and eat at if you have the time.

Kathryn...Portland is about 6 hours 45 min from me where Ashland is about 2 hours. I will take you up on the offer of meeting this Vegan guy if I ever plan on going to Portland. But Ashland itself has 3 Vegan restaraunts and my DH and I went to one last year on our anniversary. The food was out of this world!!! I could actually choose something on the menu without modifying!!! I cannot tell you how nice that was. We even tried to talk the owner into opening one up here...
