Carnivale anyone?

Last night's show was SO GOOD. I think it's the only TV show on right now that really moves me (although I am very much looking forward to HBO's new series Rome). That whole tar & feathering thing completely freaked me out. And what is the preacher's sister doing? I don't get her. Is she good after all? Even though she killed those kids in a fire?

Anyway, this one will stick w/me for a while.........

This whole season has been really good so far. After last season I was kind of annoyed with the lack of action but now it's all coming together very quickly. It seems like the sister is good now (except for beating that women to death with the oar, lol.) but I'm wondering if she wants to take control?

Ugh, the tarring and feathering was nasty! I wonder what will happen with Sophie at the preacher's house, it can't be good. And what with the message that Sophie is the Omega? The next 3 episodes should be pretty suspensful.

I don't think Sofie is gonna suffer the same fate as the other housekeepers. I think the preacher will see something of value in her & will want to create an important role for her in his psycho church. Seems like she's already falling under his spell too.

You could be right about the sister. But she hasn't had the black eye thing going on. She seems to be lacking the supernatural powers her brother has. Maybe she's jealous? It's so strange that she'll kill to protect him, yet now she seems to be going against him.....

BTW, do you have any idea who this guy Norman is? At first I thought he was Scudder but now we know that's not true. I'm baffled LOL.

I agree about last season--I found it frustrating as well. There were just too many cliffhangers & IMO it took them too long to get around to giving us answers. But now that they are the show is really on a roll! I am just riveted..........

Hey Maximus! Glad you posted this. i was going too myself after last weeks episode showing Sofie at the very end! Remember last season when there was a flash-back showing Sofie's mother being raped by the tatooed man? i think Justin is Sofie's father. I also think that Ruthie is supposed to tell Ben what she wrote in her sleep. I think that is Lodz way of communicating with Ben(since ben is now "management" too). I think Ben will have to know who Sofie is and she will have to help him in order for him to destroy Alexi (Justin)

Norman is the man that raised Iris and Justin. he found them after the train they were on crashed and their mother was killed. He had that stroke when he realized Justin was possesed and Iris insisted that they take him in because he took care of them all thier life.

I think Iris wants to have a hand in bringing down her brother, but she doesn't want anyone else to know who he really is because she is afraid of what will happen if he realizes people suspect his intentions. so she kills people to keep it simple.

i wonder what Jonsie is gonna tell everyone when they see he isn't limping anymore and his knee is completely healed!??????

So you think Lodz is still alive? Or is this just his ghost?

Hmmmm interesting theory on Justin being Sofie's dad. Was that guy tattooed? I thought he was covered w/scales or something. Like some really gross Aquaman. Either way both are devil metaphores so I like the way you're thinking.

Thanks for explaining Norman for me. It was making me crazy.

How much did you love that thing w/Jonesy? That man is so fine! It was nice to have a scene in Carnivale that actually made you smile. It was really sweet. Also it seemed like it really solidified his relationship w/Libby. I was worried about those two & I so hope they make it. Her parents just make me sick & the poor girl deserves a chance at a normal life. Do you think he'll be able to go back to baseball?

My guess is Jonesy'll find some way to spin it, although I think Ben's secret is gonna come out pretty soon. After all there are only 3 episodes left this season.x( It went so fast!

i think Lodz is definately dead, but his spirit is posessing Ruthie b/c his life was used to save hers. so i don't think he can use anyone else. the man who raped Sophie's mother and is her father had the tree tattoo. Jonesey is cute! there is a member here (Donna) who is friends with his sister i think. neat huh? i definately think that he and LIbby will leave now that he isn't crippled anymore. i saw the previes for Rome last night! i cant wait to see that!!!!!! it looks great. do you know when it is starting? do you watch Deadwood? that had it's season premier last night and i watch it too. the drunk Calamity Jane cracks me up!!!!!!

OK I remember the tree tattoo but I still think the guy was some kind of mutant. Like a cross betw. a human & a lizard.

It's weird how when a human dies so Ben can save someone else, the dead person ends up possessing the one whose life was saved. I mean, all those buzzards died for Jonesy but they're not possessing him. Or is it only when someone is brought back to life? Man this show makes me think way too much LOL.

I don't watch Deadwood. But I'm really into ancient history & HBO does everything so well, so I'm really looking forward to Rome. I don't know when it premieres, all I know right now is sometime in the fall.

yeah, that is weird. when he heals people like that cripple little girl int he first episode and Ruthie's son Gabe's arm or jonesy (he wasn't dead yet) he uses parts of nature. but when he brings someone back to life (Ruthie and that little boy who died on the ferris wheel last week) he has to use a person. i don't know how it works..... i was thinkin Rome would start in the fall b/c after Deadwood, i think it's time for the final season of Six Feet Under.

Justin is Sophie's dad? I never thought about that but it makes sense with the tatooed man and her mom....hmmm, very interesting. The sister is strange - I wonder if she was covering for Justin with the Arson thing? She was burning clothes when the journalist was following her but were they hers? Have you noticed that the show is very dark? Literally I mean, like it's hard to see faces in parts? It's kind of annoying but I guess maybe they're trying to be authentic...

Justin's sister is definitely the one who started the fire. I remember her doing it (BTW, how awful does Amy Madigan look? She is definitely NOT aging gracefully). I couldn't figure out exactly what the clothes were from but I figured they'd been evidence from the fire. I have no idea why she burned them though--forensic science was almost nonexistent back then, so...........

I think the darkness is something of artistic license. Dark times, dark storylines......although they're out in the dustbowl so sometimes it's pretty dang bright. Maybe your TV needs a contrast adjustment LOL.

I just finished reading the skinny actress thread so I'm afraid to comment on Amy Madigan...lol! I'm kidding:) I wonder how old she actually is. She looks much older than last season though, even my husband commented on it. I do remember her setting the fire now.

The darkness only happens when it's a night scene, like when Hawkins was killing Mangament we could hardly see what was going on. Maybe it's because we have HD tv and they didn't film in HD? All the other shows on HBO are bright enough...I guess it's just the way it is.

Ditto on the excitement for "Rome"! I'm taking Western Civilization and we're right in the middle of the Roman Empire - very interesting time period. I wonder how accurate the show will be...

LOVED that episode of Carnivale last night! I agree, Maximus, it was really a very touching show last night, with Jonesey...and yes, the tarring and feathering really freaked my husband and I out too...between Carnivale, Deadwood (starting to get into that one too, lol), Six Feet Under, Sopranos (which I guess may never be on again), and all the new ones coming on, I think HBO has the best TV there is right now...on a side note about Amy Madigan...I'm pretty sure she's in her late 40's or early 50's...but I'm wondering if she's made up to look a little bit older for the show....

It always bugs me how dark the some scenes are! i can hardly see what's going on sometimes. especially when they are in one of the trailers. But, they couldn't afford to waste alot of money on fuel for lanterns, so it makes sense that it is always dark. watching the tar and feather scene didn't bother, but the screaming and howling when Justin raped the last house keeper was too much!
