Can you do a spinning workout on an upright bike?

I just ordered a Schwinn upright bike for my husband and I to use. I figured that it would be a nice way to cross train for my cardio. I may purchase a spin bike eventually, but right now the upright seemed better for us to get. Can you do spinning workouts on the uprights or can they only be done on spin bikes? My bike is electric and offers 12 different tension levels and is adjustable everywhere.

Aila-I would love to hear this answer also. I have a bike and have my eye on a few spinning workout videos, but just wasn't sure.

Well, I was doing my first spinning tape (Jay Blahnik) on my stationary bike before I got myself a spinning bike. I could do the sprints, the hill climbs but not the standing up thing. Despite the lack of standing up it was a fantastic workout anyway. Mari
