Can we talk bras???

The bikini vs. one piece thread reminded me of a question that's been haunting me now since I am shopping for new bras.

HOW in the WORLD do you find your size?

Since I've lost weight, I am certainly not the same size I was back than but have absolutely NO clue how to measure myself or where to begin. The thought of going somewhere to be sized sort of scares me, as I don't want to feel obligated to buy anybody's specific bra.

Can anybody help me out?

Gayle

I just went to Victorias Secret and got measured up by a professional, then shopped away to my heart's content. VS has some of the loveliest, affordable bras.

Hey, thanks! That was quick.

I thought about going to VS, but was afraid the cost of just one would put me under!

Thanks again.

Gayle

Well, a VS bra costs around $30, but I have seen beautiful bras selling for over $100 in other places and those prices make me shriek!

If a VS bra lasts me a few years, I'm happy. And the other thing is: you know what they say about wearing fab underwear makes you feel sexier and more beautiful? It does! When I'm wearing my red or lilac angels bras and matching bikinis I feel a lot sexier even though I am the only one who knows what's on underneath my shirt, oh and my husband also!
I caught him looking down my modest, VS enhanced cleavage the other day......hmmm!

You can have it done at any big department store. And check out the Wacoal line. I just started with a new style that makes me look MUCH better in clothes. The quality is so great that it is worth the price. It will survive hundreds of washings. And if you divide the price by the number of wearings you can get out of it, you'll see that it's actually a wonderful bargain.

I know what you mean about the cost of VS bras. I can't stand to pay more than $20 for underwear. I just bought a bra at Target and it's very nice (similar to VS body by Victoria style) and has held up well in the wash so far. It was only $10 and most of their bras are around that price.

All I have to say, is that I HATE BRAS!
Don't get me wrong, I wear them and my boobs aren't big.But when I am in the house I never wear them.If someone comes to visit I will run and put a sweater on or put a bra on but I hate them.Everyday when I get dressed to go to work I cringe when I ahve to pick out my bra.I think I need to get some new ones as well.
Bottom line....wish I didn't have to wear one at all!But that would be in the "perfect" world, wouldn't it?

hi Gayle!

anytime i am uncertain i take a couple different sizes and styles into the dressing room. i am not as perky as i used to be so not every bra looks good on me.

good luck!!

There is such a good feeling in a well-fitted bra. I have found what I think fits and what really fits are worlds apart. Let them fit you. They love it. They are trained to do it and when you leave, you will be happy. After all the work you put into chainging your body, put some money into making it look better by fitting those babies up where they belong. They know the difference from going from this to that and that maufacture and minimizer, etc.

You just say thank you. Write it down and say, now I know what a good fit is. Keep stepping. Never be afraid to ask for what you want and you are under no obligation. It's like getting your face painted up in the mall. It passes the time away for the ladies to help you out.

My x mother in law noticed I need new bras so, I'll go get fitted again and plan on getting one, cause i know, it will feel good. And it also makes your body look better.

It's so true what Tybody is saying. I wore a 36 or even 38 C for years. When I got properly fitted they told me I was a 34 D. I was shocked, but they were right! I thought the band was too tight because it kept riding up, but they explained to me that riding up actually meant the band was too loose! Who knew?? I look 100x better now. If you put in the time at the store one day, you won't have to do it again for years. It is well worth it.

I don't know if these stores are where you are but around here (MA) we have stores called "Lady Grace" which are considered to be the Supreme Court of correct bra sizes. They helped me wear the correct size bra during and after both pregnancies and I've gone back to them whenever my body has changed significantly. LG carries all of the major brands. VS also does a good job of fitting but I find that their line of what I call "functional" bras is fairly limited.

I got fitted at the urging of a good friend who told me, "there's nothing worse than seeing 10 lbs. of flour stuffed into a 5 lb. sack!" I got the message and yes, we're still friends! :)
