Cookies - yes. Popcorn - yes. Pie?

My sis and BIL can't make it for Christmas this year, and he loves pecan pie. I was going to bake and overnight a pie to him. Can I mail pie? I was thinking a disposable pie plate, then inside a big zipper bag, maybe then set in some crumpled news paper and marked "fragile" Pecan pies are pretty solid, and there's nothing in it to get spoiled, plus it's cold enough out. I wonder what would happen if it froze in cold, though?

What do you ladies think? To pie or not to pie?

Sure you can! If you overnight it, no problem!

My aunt sends us pound cakes all the time. She wraps them in lots of heavy tin foil, then bubble wrap, then a big box with peanuts. They always make it to us just fine. :)

Yes. I send baked good to friends and family all the time. Just be sure to wrap it securely. I usually put the baked goods in a box the is then placed inside the mailing box. I use lots of bubble wrap/paper and make sure that the inside contents cannot shift around.

I thought - wow - fedex must have been very nice to you for you to mail them a pie! :)

Then I opened your post and it made a lot more sense.

Pecan pie freezes and thaws very well so that should not be a problem.

In fact, it might work best for you to freeze it, pack it with some dry ice, and let them thaw it out (I've ordered food online from several different places before, and have received some things like this).
